Rose just dozed for a little while, not going completely back to sleep. Because yes, they had to get up soon. Just not immediately.
Damien napped for a little while before he yawned and rolled over again, stretching out fully before collapsing into a boneless slump. Because he could.
Rose stirred when he flopped over and moved to rest her head on his chest. Yes, she was very comfortable like that.
"We should get up soon," she murmured reluctantly. |
"We should. It's getting late." Damien yawned again. "Don't want to though."
"We can snuggle in again later," Rose said as she got up. Leaning over him, she kissed him. "Ice skating is fun, though, so we should go."
Damien nodded and yawned again before he got up and started getting clothes for the day. "Well, at least this turned out to be a nice vacation."
"I'm glad you think so," Rose replied as she gathered her clothes as well. "I think it did, too."
Damien nodded. He would still be glad to get home, but home was always better than anywhere else. And this really hadn't been a bad place to stay for a while. Plus he had some new information to ponder once they got back.
As much as Rose loved her family, she was glad to get back home a few days later. She loved the Clan, but home was much calmer and quieter, and she missed that calm and quiet. There was no such thing when the Clan was together, after all.
Damien was also quite glad to be home. Things were settling back into their normal routine, which was good, and he was more than happy to settle down to keep going over to Rose's house or having her go back to his.
Rose had, unconsciously, started leaving some of her things at Damien's place, until she'd somehow assimilated one of the drawers in his dresser as her own. She hadn't even noticed the phenomena taking place.
Damien had, and he didn't mind. At all. He even cleared out some space in the bathroom in case she brought over any toiletries or things. Because, really, he was more than pleased to share his space with her.
Rose did notice that, although only when she realized she'd bought a second set of everything and left it at his place. She was a little startled to realize it, but didn't take everything back. She kind of liked knowing that he was letting her share space with him rather than making her clear her things out. It pleased her.
Damien also made sure to keep some things stocked in his kitchen and pantry that he'd noticed she liked, and he made sure his closet was clean. Just in case. Hey, he didn't mind sharing space with her, and while there were other closets and places where she could put her stuff, he kind of wanted it in with his.
Rose was a little reluctant to put some of her things in his closet, at first. It was his space, after all, and she didn't want to invade it. But it only took a little bit of coaxing to have her hanging up a few of her more easily-wrinkled things in the closet, rather than putting them in the drawer, and she found she liked how her things looked hanging next to his.
Damien was really quite pleased with how things were turning out. At least until he started hearing rumors of an old acquaintance heading back to town. He alerted Taylor and then went to go follow Rose around. Just in case.
Taylor was instantly wary. Any 'old acquaintances' of Damien's could be a bad thing. After all, the shifted lived away from most of his family for a reason. So he kept an eye out for anything suspicious and made sure nothing happened to Sera.
Despite all his efforts, Damien couldn't keep his ex girlfriend away from the two girls forever. Especially not during work. And somehow she managed to find them.
Sera really had no cue what was going on. She just knew that some slightly crazy lady was following her as she escorted the woman over towards Damien's area. Sera wasn't even entirely sure why she was doing it, but she was. |
Rose was also headed towards Damien's area, although she was there for work rather than just to spend time with him. She did still have work-related excuses to see him, after all. She paused when she saw the unfamiliar woman there and her attention spiked when she realized the woman was moving just a little too gracefully to be human. That set her a bit on edge.
Sera glanced back at the woman when she paused, and then she looked over at Rose.
"Who is that?" the woman asked, her voice quiet and gently lilted with some kind of European accent. "That's Rose. She's a good friend of mine." Sera shrugged. "What does she have to do with Damien?" The woman's nose wrinkled, just a little. For a moment, Sera was about to tell her to piss off. And then the woman turned dark eyes on her again, and she shivered briefly. "His girlfriend." |
Rose watched the woman carefully even as she continued on her way to see Damien. She wanted to make sure Damien knew about this woman; something about her didn't seem right, somehow.
"You will take me to see her."
Sera shivered briefly again and nodded, her eyes a little glassy as she led the way towards Damien's work area, leading the woman back through a gate after Rose. |
Rose paused when she heard footsteps behind her, and was surprised to see Sera and the newcomer behind her.
"Sera?" she asked cautiously. Something wasn't right about her friend. Sera wasn't acting like she usually did. "Is something the matter?" |
"Nope. Everything's fine." Sera smiled, still looking a little dreamy and vague.
The woman moved past her quickly and approached Rose, her eyes glowing faintly as she looked at Rose. "Everything's fine," she repeated quietly, looking straight into Rose's eyes. |
Rose faltered, blinking. Something... didn't seem right. She didn't know what it was, but she didn't quite believe that everything was fine.
"I don't think..." she trailed off uncertainly. Something about this seemed kind of familiar, but she wasn't sure how. But she did know that this woman in front of her wasn't right. |
