Rose did so, pulling a chair over so she could sit close to him. After a moment, though, she started eying his coffee and got up to get some of her own.

Damien hid his grin at that, quietly sipping his coffee for a bit.

When it was finally time to go, he stood and stretched a bit. "Are we all ready to go?"

Taylor nodded and grabbed his wallet and keys. He went out to his own car, leaving Damien to worry about Rose.

Rose slipped on her shoes and grabbed her purse, before following Damien to his car. Time to see how Sera was doing.

Damien drove over to the hospital and managed to find where Sera was staying. He led the way over to her room, though he knew Rose would want to talk to her first so he stood back by the door.

Taylor had gotten there a few minutes beforehand, and was already in the room. He'd pulled a chair over and was sitting next to the bed quietly. It was silent in the room, aside from the sounds of the various machines on the other side of the bed, and Rose walked in softly. Sera was still unconscious; her skin was pale where it wasn't bruised or hidden under fabric and bandages, and she was attached to the monitors next to the bed.

"Gods this is just so wrong," she muttered as she looked at her friend.

Damien was startled at how wrong it all looked. He hesitated before he moved over a little closer.

"Has the doctor been around yet?" he asked Taylor. Just in case somehow the man had come and gone before he and Rose had arrived.

"Not since I've been here," Taylor replied quietly. "A nurse was checking her vitals when I got here, but nothing since."

Damien nodded. "I'll see if I can find him," he offered, leaving the other two to watch over Sera while he went to find the doctor.

Fortunately it didn't take long, and the doctor moved into the room, ignoring the others for a minute and going to check Sera's pupil response and a few other things.

Rose just stayed quiet, tucking herself against Damien and watching.

"So what's going on?" Taylor asked quietly after a few moments, looking at the doctor.

The doctor was quiet for a few moments. "It would seem there's more damage than we initially thought," he said quietly. "I'm afraid she's not responsive. She has slipped into a coma."

Damien's hand tightened a little on Rose's shoulder. Well. That wasn't good.

Taylor went pale at that, hands clenching. That was the complete opposite of what he'd wanted to hear.

Rose moved closer to Damien, trembling slightly.

"There's not much more we can do but keep her alive and let her heal." The doctor was quiet for a moment. "I'm sorry I don't have better news for you."

Damien was quiet, holding Rose tightly.

Which, to Taylor, pretty much equated to 'she's not dead, be grateful.' He gave a short nod to the doctor, and then turned his attention back to Sera.

The doctor left so they could have some time.

Damien managed to get a chair and sat, pulling Rose into his lap so he could keep hold of her.

Taylor was silent for a moment, working on centering himself again.

"I don't know what to do," he finally said quietly. "I feel like I should be doing something, but I don't know what. I don't know how I can help her."

Damien was quiet for a few moments. "I'm not sure," he said quietly. "Maybe there's nothing to do right now. She might come out of it on her own."

Taylor made a vague, noncommittal sound and didn't reply.

Damien sighed and settled down there for a while, trying to think of anything he could do to help. He rubbed Rose's back while they sat.

Over the next week, Taylor visited whenever he had the time. He didn't like being away, in case Sera woke up and he wasn't there, so he tried to be there as often as he could.

After a week, nothing had changed. Sera hadn't woken up, and her vitals hadn't changed. The doctor wasn't worried, and kept assuring them it might just take more time.

It was a nurse that finally gave Taylor an idea. Taylor had overheard a comment that Sera looked peaceful enough that you could pretend she was sleeping, and the word 'sleeping' finally pinged in Taylor's mind. Sleeping meant dreams, and that meant that it might be worth a shot for him to try to reach her that way.

Sera was indeed sleeping, sort of. It was more like she was trapped in her own mind, but it was close enough to count.

Damien walked into the hospital room and paused when he noticed Taylor looked kind of hopeful. That was new.

"What happened?" he asked, sitting next to his friend.

"I think I might know how to help Sera," Taylor said, glancing at his friend. "I feel like an idiot for not thinking of this before. I'm going to go in after her."

Damien blinked before he realized what Taylor meant. "Do you think that'll work?" he asked. Because there was a little difference between sleeping and being in a coma, but he wasn't sure how much difference there was.

"It's worth a try," Taylor said. "It's better than not doing anything but waiting."
