"I will," Rose promised. "As long as you give me the details yourself."
|
"Done." Sera grinned at the knock on the door. "Probably yours."
Damien stood outside quietly, patiently waiting for Rose. |
Rose jumped slightly at the knock on the door and went to open the door. She smiled when she saw Damien at the door.
|
Damien smiled. "Hello. Are you ready to go or do you require a few more minutes?"
Sera merely smiled and settled back on the couch to wait for Taylor. |
"I'm ready," Rose replied. She grabbed her purse from its place near the door, and stepped out.
A few minutes after the two left, Taylor pulled up into the driveway and went to knock on the door. |
Damien smiled at her. "Up for Italian tonight?" he asked casually, starting to drive.
Sera got up when he knocked on the door, going over and grabbing a jacket in case she'd need it. "Hey." |
"Sounds good to me," Rose replied as she made herself comfortable in the car.
"Hey yourself," Taylor replied. "Ready to go?" |
"Good. Because I made reservations. Don't worry, it's nowhere fancy, just a family place." Damien smiled at her as he drove.
"Yup." Sera draped her jacket over her arm, slipping outside and locking the house behind her. "So where are we off to tonight?" |
"Sounds good to me," Rose replied.
"I was thinking the burger place everyone around here seems to like," Taylor replied. "Unless you wanted to go somewhere else. I'm open to suggestions." |
"Good." Damien drove in silence for a few minutes. "So how's the demon-spawn cat doing?"
"That's fine with me." Sera smiled a little. "Burgers are good." |
"He's still the spawn of hell," Rose replied. "But that's normal. He hasn't tried to eat anyone's toes or noses yet, and he has yet to find Sera's rats, so I'll count that as things being alright."
"Burgers it is, then," Taylor replied. |
Damien laughed quietly. "Ah, yes, I'm familiar with that. I actually had one cat who was a terror to everyone except this one gecko I had. The two got along famously. The gecko used to ride around on the cat's back."
Sera smiled and relaxed back against the seat. "Anything interesting come up since the last time we talked?" |
Rose laughed.
"Wonderful mental image," she said. "Nothing really interesting," Taylor replied. "Pretty typical week. You?" |
Damien laughed quietly. "I'll show you pictures sometime."
"Same. One of the vets is being a bitch, but I can't do anything about that." Sera shrugged. |
"I'd like that," Rose said.
"You can't help the people you work with," Taylor agreed. |
Damien smiled and parked. "Here we are." He opened her door for her with a smile. "See? Little family place."
"No, we can't. Oh well." Sera stretched a little. "So I finished my book. The ending kind of sucked. Kind of. It was one of those that makes you want more." |
Rose smiled.
"The little family-owned places are always the best ones," she said as she got out of the car. "Well... is there more?" Taylor asked. "Or are the books you read all there is?" |
"Undoubtedly," Damien said with a smile. He walked over and opened the door for her, again letting her decide which side of the booth she wanted before sliding in across from her.
"And how are all the rest of your animals doing with the demon-spawn around?" "There are more books," Sera said. "I'm pretty sure she'll even have a new one coming out soon, but I don't have any of the other books yet. I have to go get them soon. I made it through these books faster than I anticipated." |
"Lana hates him, of course, but I think she just hates him on principle," Rose replied, sitting down. "She's spoiled, and he's intruding. He hasn't tried to go after Sera's rats, but he's also only been there for a day, and they're protected in cages."
"This is going to sound dumb, but isn't your roommate a librarian?" Taylor asked as they pulled into the parking lot of the burger place. |
Damien chuckled. "In other words, there's no telling how much mischief he'll get into yet," he said, grinning.
"Yeah, she is, but the next book is checked out at the moment. Besides, I like to buy my books so I can reread them whenever I want. Which I do frequently." Sera looked a little sheepish. |
"Exactly," Rose replied. "Big as he is, he's still young. My dad picked him up as a stray, so he hasn't always had people to take care of him."
"Understandable," Taylor replied. He wasn't a big reader, but he knew people who were. |
Damien whistled softly. "He's gonna be a big kitty."
"Oh well." Sera smiled at him. "Anything coming out for you that you're excited about? Movie, book, anything?" |
Rose nodded.
"I swear he's part hellcat or something. It's just not right for a housecat to get that big." "Not really," Taylor replied. "A few movies here and there looked interesting, but nothing that I absolutely have to see." |
Damien chuckled. "Just be glad he's not as big as my cats," he said with a teasing grin. He was, of course, referring to the cats at the zoo, which were his in all but actual ownership.
Sera nodded. "You ever been to a battle of the bands?" |
Rose laughed a bit.
"Yeah, really," she agreed. "Once or twice," Taylor replied. "Wasn't very good, though." |
