"Yeah. Feel free to call me or come over to the office whenever you want." Damien smiled a little. "I'll see you soon."
"Take care, alright?" Rose replied. She kept an eye on the kitchen door. She didn't really want to have to explain who she was talking to if Sera came in.
"You, too. Get something to eat so you don't starve." Damien hesitated for a moment. "Have a good night."
"Good night," Rose replied, hanging up. "How was the date?" she called to Sera.
"It was not a date," Sera snarked. "He bought me ice cream, and that was it. He didn't even say anything about going out again, except that next time I wanted more I should tell him."
"If he took you out and paid for it, it was a date," Rose replied reasonably. She was in a wonderful mood after her talk with Damien.
Sera scowled at her. "It was not a date," she growled, pulling out chicken and starting to chop it up so she could make stir fry and rice.
"You keep telling yourself that," Rose replied, teasing.
Sera scowled at her and started chopping veggies. "You better be careful about teasing me while I have a knife out."
"Sorry," Rose replied. "I donMt mean to tease you so much. I'm just in a good mood right now."
"Humph." Sera tossed everything into a frying pan. "Well, at least one of us is."
"Aww, Sera, he took you out for ice cream," Rose said. "That should at least buy him a few brownie points."
"A few," Sera grumped. "But since you seem to be talking to Damien again, I have to hold a grudge for the both of us."
Rose sighed.
"You hold grudges for forever," she pointed out. "Besides... I kind of think I'm going to forgive Damien." |
"Humph. You're giving in too easily." Sera sighed. "But if you want to, I won't stop you. It's your choice."
"He left me roses and chocolates," Rose pointed out. "Roses in a crystal vase, even, not even a glass one." She sighed, a bit dreamily. "And he was so sweet on the phone."
Sera's lips twitched. "Apparently you got the romantic one," she said. "Of course you're probably going to forgive him."
"But I like romance," Rose protested. "So Taylor isn't as romantic as Damien. I could have sworn that he was still trying to get back on your good side."
"He is," Sera said. "I'm not ready to forgive him yet."
"Why not?" Rose asked. "Has he done something to deserve it?" She was almost ready to forgive Damien, so she couldn't understand why Sera wouldn't forgive Taylor.
"Nothing new, no," Sera said. "But he also hasn't worked very hard for my forgiveness, either."
"Well, I don't know," Rose said, "he's a guy. Maybe he doesn't know how to get back on your good side. I mean, he was doing well enough before you got mad at him, right?"
"He was amusing, yeah," Sera said cautiously, stirring everything in the pan.
"Just amusing?" Rose prodded. She knew that Sera sometimes needed a bit of a push to actually admit things.
"Okay, he was nice," she admitted. "He was fun to be around. But still."
