"Sure." Sera grinned briefly. "Long as we don't get distracted, you mean." She grinned teasingly at him and kissed him again.
"Not that you would mind terribly if we got distracted," Taylor teased back. "And you don't have to worry about getting home tonight, either."
Sera snickered. "No, I wouldn't mind, but it would probably be a good idea to eat something before we're stuck on a plane for a few hours at an ungodly hour." She grimaced. She'd be much happier once they were there.
"Then how about this," Taylor said as he kissed her again. "I'll make us an early dinner, so we can make sure we've had something, and then it won't matter if we get distracted later on or not."
Sera laughed quietly. "Someone's devious," she teased him, leaning up to kiss the tip of his nose. "Alright. That sounds fine to me." She grinned at him again as she slipped off to go grab her backpack, which had some things she'd been meaning to leave here anyway. Like an extra toothbrush and hair brush and a set of pajamas. You know. Just in case.
Taylor let her go and get her things. While she was off getting what she brought with her, he turned back to the things on the counter and started to make their early dinner. Stir-fry was something he was actually pretty good at.
Sera hummed to herself as she brought things in, leaving her bags for the trip by the front door so they could just grab things and go. Her backpack she moved upstairs to Taylor's room, and then she joined him in the kitchen again.
"Smells good." |
"Glad you approve," Taylor replied as he cooked. "It'll taste even better." He glanced over at her and grinned before turning his attention back to the pan.
Sera laughed quietly but didn't say anything, instead getting out plates for them and scrounging up a soda for herself. Taylor had started carrying her favorite kind, and she kissed his cheek before she popped the soda.
"Dinner should be ready soon," Taylor said when Sera rooted around in the refrigerator for a soda. He'd learned real quick what her favorite kind of soda was, and made sure there was always some on hand. He wanted to make sure his woman was happy, and he did little things like that to try to keep her that way.
Sera smiled. "Mmkay," she said, moving over to the table, putting salt and pepper and utensils down. She didn't mind waiting. They still had several hours before they had to go.
Once the stir-fry was ready, Taylor turned off the burner and moved the food out of the pan and into a serving bowl. Then he pulled a pair of bowls down from a cabinet and handed one to Sera.
"Help yourself," he said, gesturing to the serving bowl. He had no problems letting her go first. |
Sera grinned and got her food, moving aside so he could get food too. Then she settled down to eat, quite relaxed. She wasn't worried at the moment.
Once Sera had her food, Taylor got some for himself and sat down with her.
"So, is it any good?" he asked her. Of course, he was almost tempted to turn the question into a bad joke, but he didn't. Still. Almost. |
Sera nodded. "Yup. And if you start making bad jokes I'm going to whack you with a spoon." She grinned at him though.
"I haven't yet," Taylor replied, grinning. "I might yet, though. The night is still young."
Belle snickered and rolled her eyes at him. "You are so incorrigible."
"Ah, but you enjoy it," Taylor replied, grinning a bit. Leaning over, he gave her a quick kiss.
Sera let him before she flicked his shoulder. Which meant she wasn't annoyed, but was putting up the token resistance because it was more fun than anything, really.
"We'll see if you still have that attitude later." |
Meanwhile, a few states away, Rose was just pulling her car into the last available spot of the driveway of her grandparents' house. It was a large, sprawling house surrounded by a relatively dense forest, although there were at least power lines and a road that was considered paved on a technicality. Even as she opened the door to get out, she could hear some of her relatives out back.
"I think we're the last ones to get here," she commented, looking at the other cars. There was only one other car with an out-of-state plate on it, and it was her parents' car. "The rest of the clan is already here." |
Damien chuckled quietly as he got out, stretching his limbs and cracking his back a few times.
"That's alright," he said quietly. "We can make a fashionably late entrance, then." He grinned at her. Sera stretched hugely as they got off the airplane, grabbing their luggage so they could head to the hotel. She had never been happier to get her feet on solid ground again. "You alright?" she asked, looking over at Taylor. She wasn't sure how bad the plane ride had been for him with all those people. |
Rose grinned a bit and went to try to drag her suitcase out of the car. At least it hadn't slid around during the drive, that was something. Now she just had to see if she could get it out again.
"Fair warning, there will probably be something of an Inquisition tonight at dinner," she said. She turned a bit pink and added, "it's the first time I've ever brought someone with me, other than Sera." And the first time she'd ever 'brought home' a guy, period. "I will be once we get to the hotel and away from the crowds," Taylor replied. At least it wasn't so bad; people on airplanes and in airports tended to be angry, annoyed, and irritated, rather than excited and sensual. It helped. Reaching over, he took his own luggage. "Let's go." |
Damien shrugged. "That's fine. I have been through the process before." Although the last time had been much, much less pleasant, and he quickly discarded that thought.
"I don't mind the questions, though." Sera nodded and hauled her luggage over to a cab to get to the hotel. Thankfully it didn't take long to get to the hotel, and she let out a relieved sigh when they finally got there. |
"Just warning you now," Rose said. Once she got her bag out of the car, she set it on its wheels and then moved aside so Damien could get his suitcase and the garment bag.
Taylor was relieved to get to the hotel, as well. It was much less crowded than the airport, and much more relaxed as well, and the tension that had built up in his shoulders started to ease. |
Damien nodded and got his things out of the car before motioning for her to lead the way. He wasn't worried about this at all.
Sera checked in for them and got the key, heading up to their room with him. "You want to go shower or anything?" |
