Shadow shook his head a few times, very gently, in response to Gian's suggestion about his bed. "I think he would be better off in his own bed tonight. If you want, though...I can work on making his nest larger tomorrow. The two of you constantly sleep in the same bed. Why don't you think about merging rooms?"
Shadow would have no problem giving the two of them a larger room that they could have to themselves. It would just take a day's work and help from probably both Hebs and Gian to do. Moving all of their things would be a day's work, for sure. And then Alfie and Gian would have to settle in, to boot. Blake jumped when Gian suddenly returned, peering back at him uncertainly. "Oh," was his simple response before he reached up and scratched at his head absently. "I'll be ready to go. He'd better not piss me off while we're together," he added, not looking so enthused about that. "When I'm really angry, I can't control my powers. Or my fists." Blake had a feeling that he and Johnny would be fighting a lot during their time together. Even he could tell that they had two very conflicting personalities. Hopefully, though, they'd be able to settle their differences before the rest of the freaks returned home from Austria. ...But what were Rousel and Kenichi going to do while the family was gone? They were both older adults, so...they could stay where they were. But would Rousel cause trouble? |
That was a pretty good idea, actually. But, Gian didn't think he could stay on the naga's bed all the time. At least, he can't see himself on his nest - though bigger as Shadow had suggested. Blinking as he stopped by the door to turn and look over his shoulder, he grinned at Blake. "Or you could tell me; I can threaten him for you." That, or he could use his most powerful weapon: the silent treatment. Johnny wouldn't fare well with that, he was sure.
Gian went straight to his room to sleep. He was rather disappointed, though, when he didn't see the naga but he'd thought otherwise. Does Alfie sleep well on a bed like his or a nest? Flopping down the bed and noting the lingering smell of the activity they'd done not very long ago, he gave a little smile and snuggled against a pillow. It'd be good if he could have perverted dreams of the naga or of them both. Hebs took off the towel and looked at his hand. Sure wasn't a very nice sight. He just hoped it wouldn't scar. After all, feeling a rough skin on his scales isn't exactly the most pleasing of touches. At least, when he was touching himself. It was something he's gotten used to with hands that felt a little padded and smooth. Sighing a bit, he went to the fridge to get a couple blocks of small ice and leaned by the counter. What Shadow was wearing after showering, though, was really good. It made the snake man flush a little at the image of Shadow popping up in his head. Letting his eyes slide shut, he sighed again and tilted his head a bit to the side. It'd be nice if he'd dress up like that on casual days. He thought to himself as his eyes fluttered halfway open and watched his hand hold the ice. His hand was growing numb by the second. Kenichi wouldn't know if he could handle Rousel but if the siren stayed away, he definitely wouldn't have a problem. In fact, he'd even be at awe and would watch him if he'd get the chance. He hadn't seen him yet, though, but he was surely enjoying his stay with the family of freaks. It was probably enough to explain why he was relaxing really well right now. |
"I'll need a number to call if he does give me trouble," Blake reminded Gian as he stood up. He, too, was going to head back to his room to sleep. But unlike Gian, he didn't have any other people to think about. In fact, the only person he really did have to think about was himself.
Despite being in his comfortable nest, Alfie just couldn't seem to settle down into a cozy position. He kept tossing and turning irritably, a frown clearly on his face. Sure, the nest was very warm and soft--the heat lamps were part of what made it this way. But something was missing. It was only when the naga finally stirred himself out of sleep did he realize what was missing. There wasn't a warm body beside him. Despite his weariness, and his being half-awake, Alfie slid out of his nest and made his way groggily out of his room. He was slow-moving and his eyes weren't all the way open. But despite this, he made it to Gian's room rather quickly. It wasn't locked, so he pushed the door open and slithered inside. Without a second thought, he pulled himself up onto the bed and started shifting around until he was under the blankets. He then attached himself firmly to the human, arms and tail wrapped around him, as he tried to settle down once more. Now, he was finally able to settle and sleep... "I'm afraid that seeing me in brighter colors is a rare sight." Shadow had appeared in the kitchen's doorway, still in somewhat bright clothing. "The more I wear bright colors, particularly white, the greater the chance is of someone potentially dangerous recognizing me for what I really am. And that...that is not a good thing at all. Fallen angels are technically demons, but very powerful ones." Fluidly, the fallen angel made his way over to Hebs and snatched some of the ice from him. He began to very gently rub it up and down the length of his palm, and then down over the back of his hand, as well. "Maybe you should get some cooling patches the next time we stop for groceries," he hummed, in an almost maternal way. He did have a bad habit of babying the other freaks when they were hurt or very upset. |
Gian took note of that. In fact, he'd even shifted to lay on his stomach and reached out to his bedside drawer to get a pen and a paper out. He was scribbling his number when he'd heard his door knob. Blinking, the boy had just turned to look over his shoulder when he'd felt those familiar pair of arms and tail wrap around him. Gian made a face and he finished up writing his number on the pad before putting it on the table. Managing to turn around so his chest would be in level with Alfie's face, he looked down and smiled in amusement. The irritation he'd had a while ago disappeared in an instant. Alfie sure was cute like this. With Gian's arm propped up on the bed, he reached out with his free hand and brushed a few strands of hair away from the naga's face.
Shadow was right. Perhaps, it'd be better if they shared a room. Will Alfie be okay sleeping on a normal bed, though, instead of a nest? "You'll be cold if you're not on your nest," he mumbled before he'd leaned in to press a light kiss onto those soft lips. Not that he minded. He actually liked the feeling of Alfie being this close and the feeling of being needed. Gian settled down as well and tucked his arm under his own head while he let out a quiet and deep breath. His eyes had slid shut a few minutes later; a few more minutes had passed then when the boy had fallen asleep. Hebs' heart jumped up and out of his mouth in that split second Shadow had made his entrance. He was well aware that he should be used to Shadow's powers but to have him reply to his thoughts is just extremely unsettling. "Does it matter?" he asked as he watched the fallen angel take the ice and do that. It had him smiling just a tad. "I was thinking it could just be here in the house." Fisting his hand a couple of times and then moving that hand up to give Shadow's jaw a playful punch, he added, "Yes, yes. I'll remember that, dad." Leaning in, the snake man snatched a kiss from him and smiled. "Not tired yet? I was thinking you'd be after the show." Well, their nap a while ago, before the show, would explain the extra stamina he was still having running through his veins. |
"I'll be all right..." Alfie's voice was thick, heavily riddled with sleep. If Gian could sleep under heat lights, then it was possible that Alfie would be able to sleep all the time in a bed. Heat lamps were what kept normal snakes and other reptiles warm during the cool, dark hours of the night. Alfie used them a lot of the time when it was cold outside. It was chilly outside, now. But all cuddled up with Gian and curled under the blankets, the naga didn't seem to care about the cold. All he cared about now was being close to his cuddle buddy.
He, like Gian, was out in a matter of minutes, eager to get back to the sleep that he'd just barely started a while ago. His tail was draped over the human male like a second blanket, and it was completely still for once. "It does matter," Shadow grumbled before he as given such a soft kiss. "If someone with powers similar to Blake's, but much, much stronger comes along...that person may see me as a threat if he realizes what I am and try to take action against me." The fallen angel leaned forward again once Hebs broke their kiss and nibbled absently on his jaw. "Mm...no, I'm not tired, yet. I still have some energy left in me. We should probably start discussing...what exactly we're going to do first once we get to Austria." There was a very slight shift in Shadow's tone. He didn't really want to talk about this, but he and Hebs were both the main planners of the group...and they did have to figure out what to do first once they arrived there. |
Gian supposed he could do with heat lamps. There won't be a need for a blanket for chilly nights like these. At least, that was what he'd be thinking if he were awake.
Hebs shook his head. "I'm not telling you to dress up like you are now outside," he started, reaching up with his burnt hand to play a little with Shadow's earlobe while the other nibbled on his jaw. Though he knew he had really no say in what Shadow should or should not wear, Hebs just thought he'd voice out his own thoughts. It wouldn't hurt anyone if he did so, at least. Raising his eyebrows a little at the other's tone, he had his hand resting on the back of Shadow's head while his head tilted a bit so he could get a good look at him. "I don't mind talking about that tomorrow but if you insist to doing that today, I don't mind that either." |
"I know. But even while I'm here...I still have to be cautious." The way Shadow was talking...it was almost like he'd been faced with that sort of situation once before already. If he had...no wonder he was so cautious. It must have been terrible for him.
The fallen angel's hands slipped up and got good, gentle handfuls of the other man's hair, threading it between his fingers. "Mm. I'm more than willing to talk about it now. You're usually the one planning the itinerary for the day, so...what do you think we should do first? And feel free to ask me any questions. It is, of course, my property...and I can tell you what's on it." The nervous tone had vanished from Shadow's voice. The conversation didn't seem to be straying in a bad direction. For now. |
Hebs had only noticed that now but he didn't say anything about it. Instead, he'd only let his hand move down to rest on the side of Shadow's neck. "Settling in would be the very first thing we should be doing," he started, his head leaning in a bit to the other's fingers running through his hair, "And, maybe, getting straight to what we're supposed to do once we get to the villa. That is, if neither of us are tired." He didn't think Kratos can work when his body's weak. In fact, with a power like his, he'll need all the sleep he can get.
It was probably the reason why he tends to sleep a lot. Now that Hebs thought about it anyway. Hebs' eyes moved up to meet Shadow's own. "Are you sure you really want to go through with this, talking to Damon?" Hebs was well aware of the fact that both Shadow and Damon could get together. If that happens, he really won't have much of a say in it even if he wanted to possess him. After all, he was just an outsider who happened to be more than interested in the fallen angel. It'd be ultimately Shadow's decision that would end this torturous waiting of his. |
"The real question is, which one of us would go first?" Shadow had said that all as unemotionally as he could. Ultimately, the decision wouldn't be his. It would be Damon's. Shadow had feelings for both of them. He knew that Hebs wanted to return them. But with his situation...it would all be up to Damon. He wanted Hebs and Damon to talk first, while he wasn't in the room. He was sure that his presence would make the tension much more crippling.
He leaned back against the wall, glancing off to the side. Well, obviously, this was a sensitive topic for him. He didn't want to dwell too much on it. He knew it was only going to get worse if he thought about it too heavily. He wasn't even going to plan out what he was going to say. It was all going to come on impulse. Damon was the one person that Shadow could never truly read. Even though he could read Damon's mind, the young man had rarely said what he was thinking. The way he went about things confused the hell out of the fallen angel. Shadow hated not understanding things. |
Hebs moved closer to lean his forehead against Shadow's own. "I should go first," he started as he met the fallen angel's gaze, "That way, you and he; you could catch things up with him. You miss him, don't you?" It always was in Hebs' nature to not be selfish. Though he'd want to, for once, with Shadow, there was that inner turmoil that was bothering the hell out of him. He let his eyes slide shut and he pulled back after a few seconds of silently thinking to himself.
Going off to find a towel so he could wet it and wrap it around his burn, Hebs idly wondered what kind of person Damon was. And, will Kratos be okay with searching for Damon's soul and attaching it to the man's body? Were there healing abilities in Kratos' power? |
"I do miss him. But...I don't know if he'll want to talk. I don't even know if I want to talk." Shadow didn't budge at all when he felt Hebs pulling back and going away. He couldn't help catching a few of his stray thoughts, though, and he glanced over at him as he started wrapping up his wound with one of the kitchen towels.
"It will take Kratos a while to locate the soul in its entirety. So...we can't do anything at all until he's done that." The fallen angel knew that Kratos wouldn't be happy about having to dabble with souls. It usually took twice as long to seal a full, complete soul to a corpse and twice the effort, in turn. |
That just meant Kratos will need all the rest he can get. "Maybe talking to Damon will have to wait until Kratos is ready." With the merman at his side, though, he was pretty sure he could encourage him. "Is your villa really big?" he asked, hoping to change the train of conversation as he turned to look at Shadow and raised his eyebrows a little, "Maybe you could tour us around or we can have everyone go on their ways to check out your villa."
Hebs started boiling hot water as he pulled out what looked like a box of tea bags from the cabinet atop. The snake man held this box up a bit to show it to Shadow, silently asking him if he wanted one or not. |
Shadow simply nodded in response to Hebs' silent question. Some tea sounded heavenly right about now. It was starting to get late, and they would have to get to bed after having their tea. Something occurred to Shadow, at this point. Hebs probably hadn't slept in his room for a while, now. Maybe he wanted to do so? He decided it would be a good idea to bring it up.
"...If we're going to sleep together...should we sleep in your bed?" he asked, seeming curious. "I mean, you haven't seriously slept there for a while, now." He shifted slightly on his feet. "It is very big. I can give you a tour and maybe give you all your gifts from the vault..." |
Hebs prepared two cups and took two tea bags before he'd returned the box back in the overhead cabinet. Surprise was apparent on his features when he'd heard Shadow talk and ask him that question. It had him snapping his gaze up to meet the fallen angel's gaze. "That's all right," he started before he'd chuckled, "Less beds for me to clean up. But, I don't mind either way." And, he really didn't mind either way. He enjoyed sleeping with Shadow.
His presence is unusually calming. "That would be a good idea," he said with a nod, "We can do that first after settling in or after a couple hours of rest." |
"I think you should sleep in your own bed for once. I'd be glad to join you." An impish sort of smile made its way onto Shadow's face before fading as he leaned against the counter. He was getting noticeably less flirtatious as the villa trip drew closer. Just a few more days, now. After Johnny picked Blake up, he would have to introduce Rousel and Kenichi to each other and hope they got along. Once that was done with, they could start packing.
If the outcome was the one that Hebs wasn't wanting, Shadow didn't want it to hurt more than it had to. His mostly distant behavior was to try and ease the possibility of pain. There was no telling how Damon was going to react. After all, it was hard for Shadow to read him. |
Hebs blinked a bit and chuckled. There was a slight flush on his cheeks. "I'd like that," he started before he'd smiled and put the cups on a little plate. He was still waiting for the water to boil. After their tea, and the few days will pass, Hebs wondered what the outcome of their little trip would be. Would it be for the best? Or would things get worst? What will get worst? As these questions roamed about his head, he grew silent - much silent now even when he was sipping his tea.

(( SKIPPING TO THE NEXT DAY. ))
Shadow was the only one who didn't seem very annoyed the next day, despite having been woken up early by an overly-cheery Alfie. Alfie wanted to head to the villa so badly that he ran around their home waking everyone up and crying out for them to start packing. The siren wanted none of it when Alfie came by Kratos' room--he threw his arms up over his head and growled, trying to ignore him. Rousel was intrigued despite his annoyance, and he'd been the first one out of his lodgings. Alfie wasn't intimidated by him--Rousel was absolutely fascinated by him and followed him around, asking some very blunt and inappropriate questions. Blake had already been up, as he'd gotten up early to start packing anyway. He was just getting finished when he heard Alfie's call. So, he was already done and ready to go. Now he was just waiting for Johnny outside in the main lobby while everyone else gathered their things together. Rousel, once everyone was together, selected a clear target to pick on. The moment Léan saw the big merman out in the open like that, he knew he was going to be the one to get hammered with questions and very lewd come-ons. He tried to ignore them in the back of the van in his tank, all curled up with his hands over his head. But Rousel was very determined. Shadow had warned the man not to touch Léan or he would have no problem harming him, so he was keeping his distance. But boy, was he persistent. |
Neither was Hebs. In fact, he was quite thankful he'd been woken because if he hadn't been woken, he didn't think he'd be able to wake up at all. It was too comfortable sleeping with Shadow and if this continued on, Hebs might not just be able to do what he should be doing around this time. "Isn't this the first time our family's traveling?" he asked as he yawned and stretched his arms out above him, he listened to the hustle and bustle outside, looking quite amused.
Kratos, on the other hand, looked annoyed. And, that continued on until the later part of the morning. It got a lot worst, too, when he'd seen and heard what this Rousel was doing to his siren. "Stay away," he snarled at the big siren as he glared sharply at him. His size didn't faze him at all. In fact, he didn't even back down. Kenichi came to see what was happening and looked in awe at both Rousel and Léan. This was the first time he was seeing them. After all, all he saw was Gian, Alfie, Shadow and Hebs. Speaking of Gian, he had just finished packing and was putting it together with both Shadow's and Hebs' bags. He didn't pack for Alfie, thinking he'd already packed himself. Whistling, though, when he'd heard one lewd comment on Léan from Rousel, he turned to look at Shadow. "Will Kratos and Rousel be okay? They don't look like they'll get along too well." Kenichi blinked and he supposed that was true. Hebs only smiled. "What a lively bunch we have this morning. Breakfast's almost ready." Go for the simplest breakfast when there was less time and more people: a mug of coffee, bacon, eggs, and toast. |
"I've traveled with Léan before. But not with the whole family," Shadow hummed as he finished the last bit of his packing. He was taking a few different things along. He owned tons of odd, seemingly useless trinkets. But he brought them all along for a reason. "Léan is not going to be happy today. He probably won't be in a good mood again for at least another day. Kratos is going to have a lot of work to do."
"Get your panties out of a bunch. Is it wrong to compliment someone on their good looks?" Rousel replied halfheartedly, not even sparing Kratos a glance. Léan hissed at him threateningly when he drew closer. From his place quite a ways away, Shadow didn't look up at Rousel, but...he did speak. "Rousel. That's enough." Those three simple words seemed to make the big male think twice about what he was doing. He was generally fearless, but he and Shadow were about equally matched strength-wise and he knew that it the two of them really fought, it would end up in serious injury or death. It wasn't worth it. So, he backed off. "Well, geez. Excuse me for trying to get to know people." He turned and slithered his way off in another direction, leaning against the wall near Kenichi. Shadow seemed to deem this a good time to introduce them, after ushering Blake and Alfie off toward Gian once Rousel approached. He didn't seem to like allowing any of his family members too close to that siren. "Kenichi. This is Rousel. Rousel is also not going on the trip. So, you and Rousel will be together while we're gone," he revealed, simply. Rousel seemed to like that idea, because he grinned and folded his large arms across his chest. Oh, he was going to have fun with this pretty white-haired man while everyone else was gone. Teasing was something he loved to do. |
Kratos grunted and crossed his arms over his chest. He didn't like this Rousel character at all. Hell, he was even quite tempted to attack him in his sleep using his minions. "Annoying bastard," he mumbled under his breath before he'd gotten onto the back of the van and tossed his duffel bag at the corner. Sitting by the tank, he continued glaring at Rousel. Just what the hell was Shadow thinking adding him into their family?
The close distance, of course, bothered Kenichi. In fact, he'd stepped a couple of steps away until he was at least three to four meters away from him. "Nice to meet you," he started, smiling a little as he raised his hand a bit. That grin, though, made him inwardly cry. He was going to be in trouble with this one, isn't he? Hebs turned to look at Shadow. "Could you maybe help me with the toast?" he asked him as he moved his gaze to Gian, "And you with the coffee?" Gian nodded and went on ahead to the kitchen to help prepare breakfast. |
"Overly-defensive, whipped asshole," was Rousel's quiet, scathing mutter toward Kratos as the other man continued to glare. He turned his full attention on Kenichi then, noticing how he backed off whenever he got close. "Pleased to meet you, too. I don't eat a lot of cooked food, so you're going to have to fend for yourself food-wise. I don't mind getting to know you. But of course, that means we have to actually be within a few feet of each other. To talk, of course."
Every little thing Rousel said seemed to have a double meaning. It was creepily like Shadow... "Of course." Shadow immediately began to move toward the kitchen. He and Gian were trailed by an increasingly hungry Alfie, who was pouting. "We're all almost ready to go. Where's Johnny?" Blake stayed out near the front door, close to where Kratos and his dear siren were. He was all ready to go and would probably wait in the main lobby, dozing off and playing his little handheld video game, until Johnny arrived. |
Kratos didn't hear it. He chose not to hear it anyway. Crossing his arms over his chest, he yawned and decided to take a little nap while he waited for the others. Breakfast can wait. Hebs knew what to do, after all, if he misses it. Kenichi, on the other hand, shook his head at Rousel's words. "A-Anything but near me," he started as he flushed in embarrassment, "Marine creatures... they scare me but I'm in awe of them - of you - from afar." The white-haired male nervously played with the tips of his hair - the few strands anyway that fell over his shoulder.
Just as Alfie had asked that, a screech of what sounded like wheels could be heard. It was Johnny. At least, the way the car door opened and then shut reminded Johnny of how he'd done it back when he was a kid. "He's here," he answered Alfie's question with a grin but resumed his way to the kitchen. He'd already introduced Blake to Johnny once; he'd also introduced his, well, love interest. At least, Johnny had thought of it that way with the way the two were flirting with each other. Johnny adjusted his glasses onto the bridge of his nose and went toward the house. He'd seen that familiar patch of purple hair and a few new other faces. One with the white hair and the other... an octopus? Strange creatures, was all he'd thought before he'd stood in front of the boy. "Come on. We better get going. I have your room ready and I need to get more work done." He was reminded, though, of Shadow's request through Gian when he'd seen the dear merman with the life man. There were papers he'd left in the car; a couple of places but it was a start. They were different possible black markets in the country that Arcturus could be in. "On second thought, go put your bag in the car. I'll be right there." With that said, he'd went on ahead back to the car to grab the said envelope and turned to the white-haired stranger. He was rather pretty. Strange for a man. "You. Where's Gian?" The white-haired man was startled but he'd pointed to the front door. "K-Kitchen," he'd stuttered, looking quite troubled and anxious. Who was this man? He looked... authoritative. Almost like some sort of serial killer. He was definitely a serial killer. In the court. |
"Oh, get over it. If you're going to be living here while I'm here, you'll have to get used to me. I like making new friends. So get over it." Rousel could be very caustic without knowing it. He was a loner, after all, and not used to being around people. So of course, he didn't walk on eggshells. It could come across as unpleasant, but it was just the way Rousel was. People who wanted to associate with him just had to get used to it.
Blake had just reached down and scooped up one of his lighter bags when the older male before him suddenly changed his mind about leaving so quickly. Looking irritated, Blake dropped the bag back on the ground and huffed, folding his arms across his chest moodily and waiting for Johnny to finish up with whatever he needed to do. He was all ready to go. He figured that if he was going to be a part of this family that he had better make an effort to warm up to Johnny. The two of them seemed like they fit together as well as a chihuahua and a doberman--that is, not at all. Alfie seemed surprised by the sudden sound of squealing tires, and he leaned on Gian at once, closing his eyes. "If he drives like that, he's going to crash," he complained, watching as the human worked. He didn't care if he was all over his human--that's right, HIS human--when Johnny was around. Shadow chuckled softly as he, too, assisted Hebs in the kitchen. Alfie was very jealous of Johnny, but was doing a good job of keeping his mouth shut. |
Kenichi looked pretty sad and anxious. As much as he wanted to, he couldn't. He was still embarrassed. "I don't think that'd be possible..." He's always had the fear of marine animals. After being enticed and then thrown into the aquarium where there were sharks, he just, well, freaked out. That was where it'd started. Those sharks, though, didn't follow after him. They just continued to swim about. "I'd either bawl like a baby or run away like a madman." Sighing, he rubbed the side of his neck and looked off to the side, peering inside to see what they were doing. From where he was, he had a pretty good view of the kitchen.
"Who's going to crash?" Johnny asked as he raised a brow and stepped into the kitchen. He'd seen Alfie leaning on the Gian but had decided not to point it out. "Gian, come over here for a while." Like the good puppy he was, Gian wiped his hands dry and went to stand in front of Johnny. The man handed him the envelope. "Those are the lists of the black market syndicates available in the country. I'll be asking a couple of my associates to visit each one and see if they could find this Arcturus." His hand moved to Gian's head as he ruffled his hair. There was a gentle look on his face. "Take care of yourself and call me if anything goes wrong." Gian looked up at Johnny and grinned brightly. "Shall do, sir. Thanks for this." The boy hugged Johnny, to which the man tightened. "I'll see you then." Patting the boy's back, Gian let go of him and watched him as he left. As soon as Johnny saw Blake, he motioned for the kid to come follow him and got into the driver's seat. He was quick to zoom away when the boy joined him. |
"Fine. I guess I'll just have to force close contact between us. I'm not going to be doing all the work in the conversation, though--you'd better pitch in." Rousel seemed very curious, now, about Kenichi. The fear he was displaying was only serving to make him want to know more about the white-haired male. All in all, it was making things worse. He began to inch closer, playfully. "So...what's your favorite color?"
The awkward way in which he said this spoke volumes about his lack of social skills. At least he was trying. Shadow watched Alfie very closely as Gian and Johnny talked, still managing to pick up on their conversation using his mind-reading powers. Alfie looked...lost, almost, when Gian left his side. He then proceeded to stand there and seethe with jealousy. For once, it was far too obvious--it was only during times like this that it was really easy to see how jealous the naga could get. He didn't say a single word. Shadow thought of giving him a hug, but settled for nudging Hebs instead as he made the final preparations for their breakfast. Blake had just finished getting his last bag into the trunk of Johnny's car, which had been open. He had four bags in all--most were packed with clothing that the family had bought for him and the spell books, which he'd brought along to read at his own leisure. He knew he needed to learn more about his power. When Johnny emerged from the kitchen, Blake wordlessly hopped into the passenger seat and settled down, settling for staring pointedly out of the window. He wasn't one for much conversation. |
