"We could always stop by my mom's house and get my old guitar," Dawn said. "I don't use it anymore, since I have this, but it never got thrown out."
Nika chuckled. "If I can play at all," she said, only half-joking. "I have no idea if I'll just be making horrible twanging noises."
Dawn snorted and rolled her eyes.
"I won't let you," she said. She grinned. "I keep that thing tuned, man. So they'll just be twanging noises, not horrible ones." |
Nika had to laugh at that. "Alright, then. We'll see if I make twanging noises or actual music."
Dawn laughed, too. It felt nice to just have some girl time.
Nika stretched out before slumping bonelessly against the couch. "Well, if you want we can go a bit early, get some soda and ice cream and maybe rent a movie, if you want. Make a night of it."
"Sounds like a plan to me," Dawn replied. A flick of her wrist turned the guitar back into a lyre, and she looped the strap through one of her belt loops a few times so it was secure.
Nika nodded and got up, stretching briefly before she looked at Dawn. "You'll have to pick the movie. I have no idea what's out."
"Anything I should avoid?" Dawn asked. "Or do you not care as long as it's not the Clash of the Titans remake?"
"Actually the remake was hilarious. Or, more accurately, watching my father's reactions to it was hilarious." Nika grinned, a teasing and mishchievous expression. "And I don't do well with pure romance. Romantic comedies are okay, though."
"Personally, I just thought the remake was kind of cheesy," Dawn said. "Not accurate at all, and the actress who played Io wasn't all that good. So, no romance, but romantic comedies are good. Alright. What about the new Alice in Wonderland?"
"Agreed." Nika got her keys and purse again. "Alright, let's go get food and entertainment. I'm starving."
"Sounds like a plan to me," Dawn said. "Ready when you are."
Nika nodded her agreement and let them out of the apartment, locking the door behind her and engaging the wards. Then she headed over to her car, so they could go get food.
Dawn followed her out to the car, pointedly not looking at her own. The color still hadn't started to grow on her yet.
Nika snickered and got in, driving over to the nearest store. "You look for the movie, I'll get ice cream and stuff. You have any preferences?"
"Nothing fruity," Dawn replied. "Swirled is fine, any sort of chip is fine, and cookie dough is always good." Going into the video store, she grabbed Alice in Wonderland and rented it.
"Sounds good to me." Nika headed to the back of the store and started looking around for good ice cream, and picked up some strawberries and chocolate chips and marshmallows too.
Once Dawn had the movie, she went back to meet Nika.
"Find anything good?" she asked. |
"Makings for chocolate covered strawberries and s'mores, and ice cream." Nika held up her bag, grinning. "You got the movie?"
"Got it," Dawn replied, nodding. She grinned. "Best movie night ever."
"Should be," Nika agreed, dumping everything in the sort-of back seat of her car. "You ready to go or did you want anything else before we get pizza?"
"I think I'm all set," Dawn replied. "Was there anything else you wanted?"
"I don't think so." Nika shrugged. "Pizza. Yum. Food."
"We can go and get the pizza whenever you're ready," Dawn said. "We have everything else."
