"Smart man," Dawn replied. She pulled up next to his car in the lot. "I believe this is your stop."

"Thanks." Seth got out. "Where are you headed now? Back to your apartment?"

"Yeah," Dawn replied. "We left Nika and my brother there unattended, remember?" And that was potentially explosive.

Seth snickered. "That is true. I hope you have an apartment standing after this." He grinned and headed over to his car. "I'll meet up with you there."

"Yeah, really," Dawn muttered. She nodded. "I'll meet you there, then." Putting the car in gear (she'd noticed that the car somehow changed itself from automatic to manual and back, depending on the day and her mood, it was really strange), she headed back towards home.

Seth drove after her, arriving back at her apartment just after she did. He found a parking spot and headed over to her again.

"The building is still standing," Dawn joked as she got out of her car. "That's a plus."

"No kidding. Now to see if there's any broken furniture." Seth grinned and headed for the door, not sure if he was allowed to pick the lock or not.

"You'll want this," Dawn said, holding out the key to him as she followed him to the door. "I don't want you picking the lock to my apartment. I know you can, no need to prove it."

Seth smiled a little sheepishly. "I didn't think you'd like that," he said quietly, taking the key and opening the door.

Nika looked up from where she'd been sprawled in her chair half-asleep. Not her fault Jason had been trying to put her to sleep.

Jason looked up from where he was massaging Nika's shoulders. Not his fault she needed it.

"How did it go?" he asked.

"I got to watch our father being beat into the ground," Dawn promptly replied. She looked at Nika. "And I suddenly, completely sympathize with you."

Nika blinked, her brain clearly not fully functional. "Huh?"

"We saw Ares."

Realization dawned. "Oh. Crap. You two okay?" She almost got up, but damn it the massage felt nice and she knew she'd be able to tell immediately if he'd been beating on either of them.

"We're fine," Dawn replied. "And I suddenly feel like I understand you the slightest bit better. And you might want to keep an eye on my brother for me, just in case." She grinned a bit. "And I now have several mental notes to remind me that arrows won't do shit against him."

Nika blinked slowly, not entirely sure what she meant by watching Jason, but she didn't question it anyway. She just yawned briefly and leaned back a bit.

"Yeah, my dad's a dick and there's really not much you can do except hide behind someone else."

"The family resemblance is unnerving," Dawn commented. "Though he did let us go. I'm kind of grateful for that."

Nika shrugged a little. "Yeah, not much I can do about that. And I'm not even going to try to explain why, because I don't know how his mind works half the time." She paused. "If he even actually has a mind and not just a set of war tactics and schematics and things."

Dawn shrugged a bit.

"Well, we're still alive," she said. She sat down on the couch, making sure to leave room for Seth to sit down.

"Mmm." Nika nodded and closed her eyes again, leaning back a bit.

Seth sat next to her, relaxing, while he could anyway.

"So did you learn anything?" Jason asked in general after a moment. He kept up massaging Nika's shoulders and back; she was still tense and knotted from the fight at the police station.

"Yeah. I know there's a demigod behind it, but I don't know who yet. And he or she has to have some kind of support. I'm pretty sure one of the gods is helping." Seth shrugged. "And I'm about 90% sure it's Pan."

Nika opened one eye to look at him. Pan doing that was plausible, actually. He didn't have sides, and he did whatever he wanted. And then she shifted to make it easier for Jason. He was way too good at that.

"Did you find out who the demigod is?" Jason continued. He didn't stop working on Nika's back, using a bit of healing to take care of the muscle bruises even as he worked out the knots.

Seth shook his head. "No, I don't. I don't even know he or she is from." He loooked briefly frustrated.

"We'll figure it out," Dawn placated, putting a hand on Seth's arm. "It's not like we're going in completely blind here."

Seth nodded after a moment. That was true, he had gotten some information at least. But he still felt like he could have done more.

"You did what you could," Dawn said, leaning against him a little.
