"We do this, this, and this..." Pan flipped a few switches and pressed a button. The veil between Olympus and Earth thinned enough to let a few monsters through and keep them from discorporating. "And voila!"
Okay. First thing to go would be that control panel. Nika glanced at Dawn to see if she was paying attention. |
In fact, she was, and Dawn wanted nothing more than to smash the gods-forsaken control panel and be done with it. One good explosive arrow would do it, she knew. She glanced at Nika.
|
Nika shook her head just slightly. No, not yet. Not just yet. She wanted to make sure that was all there was to it.
Pan looked at them again before he grinned. "You know, you ladies would do well with some nymphs. I know a couple who'd just love to take you in." Nika twitched. But that was all. And then Pan moved on, opening a hidden door off to the side and ushering the Aphrodite kid in first before he followed, clearly expecting the girls to follow them. |
Dawn reluctantly followed. She was more than ready to be done with this whole thing. She just wanted to finish this, go get Seth, and then maybe have a mental breakdown later. In that order.
|
The only room left after that room was, apparently, a relaxation room. There was a fully stocked bar against one wall, with plenty of lounge space and chairs and things, and a few nymphs already there. Pan grinned and made a beeline towards one.
Nika checked in there briefly before she looked at Dawn. "Go destroy the control panel. I'll take care of these two. And I'll probably call for help, so if you don't want to deal with Calix, get out as soon as you've blown that thing to hell." |
"Already on it," Dawn growled, pulling her bow and an arrow fletched in brilliant red feathers. She paused and looked at Nika. "Be careful, alright?" She was going to get Seth back no matter what anyone had to say on the matter, but she doubted Hades would let her take Nika a second time.
|
Nika nodded. "Don't worry. That's what the reinforcements are for." She grinned briefly. "Now go wreak some havok and go get Seth."
|
Dawn hesitated briefly before nodding and hurrying back to where she remembered the control panel being. When she found it, she drew the arrow and let it fly. The panel didn't stand a chance. As soon as it was nothing more than smoldering wreckage, she turned and ran back to where Seth had fallen.
She nearly fainted in relief when she found her brother there. Jason looked over at her with a determined expression. "I can take care of this," he said, already working. He ground his teeth for a moment, as if fighting what he was about to say. "Go on, I've got this. Do what you need to." Dawn nodded. Now she just had to get out to the Reflecting Pool to get down to the Underworld. And this time, she knew what she was doing. |
Pan and the Aphrodite kid both turned their attention to Nika when they heard the explosions, and the demigod spoke first.
"Where's the other one?" "Probably running away from the wreckage of your control panel," Nika said with a grin as she drew her sword from behind her. Pan snarled and lunged at her, knocking her over and starting to choke the daylights out of her. Nika managed a yelp and then gasped out, "Calix, help!" Calix only needed to take one look at the situation before he went after Pan, knocking him off Nika and fighting him. Deimos and Phobos pulled Nika off to the side. "Stay here," Deimos said sternly before following Phobos over towards the Aphrodite kid. Nika almost pitied him. |
It took a bit of careful searching, but Dawn managed to find the entrance to the underworld and was already digging out a drachma when she got to the ferry dock.
"Don't even tell me to come back when I'm dead, Charon," she said shoving the drachma at him and getting into the ferry. "I'm not in the mood for that shit right now." |
Charon looked at her for a moment before he took the drachma and started rowing towards Hades's castle, without even being told. He stopped when he got there.
"You must find your own way back." |
"I know," Dawn replied. She turned towards the castle without another word and went inside.
|
Hades knew she was coming, because he knew everything that went on in his realm, and already had Seth out and sitting in a chair.
"Take him. Please. Just take him and go," Hades said as soon as he saw Dawn. "You don't even have to negotiate with me for this one." Seth smiled sheepishly and got up. |
Dawn blinked. This was... suspiciously easy. She looked at Seth, resisting the incredible urge to throw herself at him and cling and never let go.
"What did you try to steal?" she asked. |
"Just a few shiny things." Seth shrugged.
"He means those." Hades pointed to a wall, where there were several gemstone-encrusted things. Persephone had picked them out, saying that he needed some color around the house. "Now scram before I change my mind and decide that's not too light a crime to throw him into Tartarus." |
Dawn raised an eyebrow at Seth, but grabbed his wrist and started pulling him towards the door.
"We're going," she called back to Hades. "And no offense, but I really hope I don't see you again for a very long time." As soon as they were out of the castle, she looked at Seth. "Don't you dare do that to me again," she threatened. "Ever." Then she kissed him. |
Seth was about to protest that it really hand't been his fault when he was kissed. Well. He could get behind this. He pulled her closer, keeping his arms around her securely.
|
Dawn reluctantly broke the kiss a few moments later.
"We should go," she said, still clinging to him. "Jason is keeping your body from becoming uninhabitable, but he can't do it forever." |
Seth nodded. "Well, let's get going. That way we can be back sooner and then you can really tackle me." He grinned.
|
"Damn right," Dawn replied. She let him go reluctantly, but kept hold of his hand and started walking with him towards the exit at the far end of the Underworld.
|
Seth kept hold of her hand, focusing on her instead of how hard it was getting to keep walking. Really it was just much easier to focus on her. And it kept him going.
|
After a little while of walking in silence, Dawn started humming softly. It gave her something to focus on doing, and she hoped it gave him something to focus on as well. She kept her hand firmly in his, not about to let him try to bolt back to the land of the dead.
|
Seth focused on her humming too. It was cheerful in the land of the dead, which he found hilariously odd. Or would, if he weren't struggling to keep going forward. But they were almost there, so he wouldn't have to keep up for too much longer.
|
Dawn noticed she was practically dragging him forward as they got closer and closer to the exit.
"Not much farther now," she said. |
Seth nodded, though he was now actively fighting for every step. Just a little farther and they'd be out. He focused on her voice and on putting one foot in front of the other.
