"Okay." Seth yawned briefly. "Would be happier to get into bed and curl up with you, but this is okay for now." He smiled sleepily.
"Only bed in this apartment is mine," Dawn replied as she snuggled closer. She had to admit, the idea was a tempting one, especially with Jason and Nika cuddling on the couch not far away.
"Sounds good to me. They can keep the couch. Or the floor. Whichever." Seth shrugged a little, careful not to disturb her. "Come on. Let's go lay down for a while."
Dawn nodded and slid off of his lap so he could get out of the chair. Then she gestured down the hall to her room.
Seth followed her, letting her settle down in her bed first before he slipped in behind her, yawning briefly.
"Much better." |
Dawn cuddled close to him, relaxing more now that she was in her own bed. After a moment, she moved up a bit and kissed him. Then she laid her head on his shoulder and closed her eyes.
Seth pulled her close, not about to let her go anywhere for a while. Then he yawned briefly and snuggled up closer to her. Not that he'd admit it.
Dawn drifted off to sleep again. Her apartment would be safe for them for a while, yet, so they could rest before heading back to camp.
Seth ended up drifting off next to her for a while. He didn't think they'd need to leave just yet, after all.
Nika woke up again first of the four of them, getting up and going to do a patrol, trying to settle her nerves. Something still felt off, although she wasn't sure if that was from so much time spent in close proximity to the scariest members of her family or for some other reason. |
Jason woke up shortly after her, and it didn't take him long to catch up.
"Everything alright?" he asked softly. There was some tension in the air, but he wasn't sure what it was. |
"As far as I can tell," Nika said slowly. "I still feel odd, though. Maybe because I'm not used to being that close to Phobos and Deimos, not when they're sending someone on a fear trip like that."
"Maybe it's not just you," Jason replied. He glanced around. "I don't think things have settled yet. It feels a bit weird."
"Yeah, I know." Nika sighed. "But there isn't much we can do until someone decides to attack us or something."
Which annoyed her because now she was nervous and fidgety and she couldn't even go do anything to make it better. |
"We can head out somewhere so you can work off the energy," Jason suggested. Even he could see she was fidgety and twitchy. "I can heal whatever you can dish out, it's not a problem."
Nika paused. It wasn't a bad idea, but she didn't want to actually spar with Jason. So after a moment she shook her head.
"Nah, I can just beat up a punching bag for a while instead. That works just as well." |
"You sure?" Jason pressed. "You told me yourself it isn't the same thing." She'd still pinned him to the ground that time, but she hadn't actually hurt him.
"I'll manage." Nika shrugged. "If I need a sparring partner I'll let you know, but this should be good enough." She started gathering up her things again so she could leave.
"I'm still coming with you," Jason replied, gathering his own things and leaving a note for his sister. Dawn could take care of herself, anyways, it wasn't like she needed to be babysat.
Nika nodded and left the apartment quietly, starting to walk. She wasn't sure where yet, but since neither of them had their cars there, she figured she might as well start walking back towards camp and see if she found a good dojo on the way back.
Jason was about to start walking, as well, when he noticed something.
"Hey, Nika," he called distractedly, going over to the unfamiliar gold sports car sitting next to Dawn's Pontiac. It had his license plates on it. "Look at this." |
Nika blinked. "Think your dad pulled another car switch on you?" she asked, raising her eyebrows. Hey, he'd done it to Dawn. Nika was just glad Ares didn't mess with her car.
"I think so," Jason replied, walking around the car to the driver's side. "Those are my plates." He opened the door and got in, grinning when he found the key under one of the visors. "Awesome."
Nika snorted and moved over to the passenger side. "Got your own shiny new car now," she teased. "Guess he decided it was your turn."
"I whined about it before," Jason admitted. "When we were on Olympus that one time. I whined that Dawn got a car and I didn't." He snickered. "I told him I wouldn't think it was gaudy. And it isn't."
Nika snickered. "Yeah, yours isn't nearly as obnoxiously bright as hers." She grinned and shook her head. "I still like my car best, though."
