Jason, however, had his weapons to consider.
"If I give you these to look after," he said, looking at her, "will I ever get them back?" He gestured to his bow, arrows, and dagger. |
"Yup. I'll give them back once we're onn the ground in Hawaii." Nika grinned. "I can control what I call to me from my storage closet."
But she didn't blame him for asking. |
"Awesome," Jason replied, handing them to her. "Thanks." He didn't particularly like handing his bow to anyone else, but he knew it was the best way, and he trusted Nika.
Nika vanished his weapons to her storage room. "Okay. Now we get to go find a flight and hope we don't have to wait too long." Because she was bad at waiting.
Jason nodded and sent a quick prayer to Nemesis that they found a cheap, quick flight. Because it was always good to make sure to stay on the good side of the goddess of fortune, whether you needed her help or not.
It didn't take long for Nika to find a flight departing later that night. It would take a while, since they had to go across the country and then out to Hawaii. But Nika figured they'd be okay.
And she even managed to pay for both tickets, too. |
Jason would have paid for his ticket, but he didn't feel like arguing with Nika when she gave him a Look and told him to go sit down and let her do it. He knew better than to contradict his woman sometimes. Mostly.
Nika settled in next to him to wait for the plane to board.
"So. No regrets yet?" She grinned at him briefly. |
"Nope," Jason replied, grinning. He leaned over and kissed her. "Still none."
Nika laughed quietly. "Good. I'm glad." She kissed him again teasingly before getting up. "I'm going to get some coffee. You want anything?"
"Coffee's fine," Jason replied. He settled back in his seat. "I'll keep an eye on our things."
Nika nodded and slipped off, coming back several minutes later with two coffees. She handed one to him and settled back in her seat with her coffee that had been creamed to the point of almost not being coffee anymore.
"At least they have real cream here," she grumbled. |
"Coffee's that bad?" Jason asked, taking a sip of his. Okay, yeah, it was pretty bad coffee. It tasted burnt. "That's it, we're getting Kona when we get to Hawaii. Supposedly the best coffee on earth."
"I've heard that, but I haven't had a chance to try it. Guess now would be the perfect time." Nika grinned. "They still have creamer and sugar left, even after I got my hands on it."
"Right, time to make this palatable," Jason said, getting up and taking his coffee with him. He came back a few minutes later with coffee that was much lighter, much sweeter, and only vaguely coffee-flavored. "Sort of better now."
"Sort of." Nika shrugged. "Oh well. We can get better coffee once we're on the island." And probably some other things, too. But she'd deal with that later.
"Right," Jason replied. He leaned back in his seat and put an arm around her. "For now, we get to relax a bit."
"For the moment." Nika cuddled closer to him after a moment, getting comfortable there. Hey, he was warm and they still had at least an hour to wait.
In reality, they only ended up waiting for about half an hour; the flight arrived a bit ahead of schedule, and they were able to get on board quickly.
Nika didn't like the flight much, since she started to get fidgety, but she managed well enough, and she walked around some at their layover point.
And then she stepped off the plane in Hawaii, letting out a breath. |
Jason stretched and sighed when they got off in Hawaii.
"Ahh," he said. "Feels nice here already." |
"Yes it does." Nika grinned. "Come on, let's go see about a hotel. And then we can go lounge on the beach or something."
"Good plan," Jason said. "I like that plan." He grinned. "I'm always up for sunbathing." Reaching over, he took her hand and walked with her.
Nika snorted at that. "Yeah, last thing we need is for your father to decide he doesn't like me. Then we'd be well and truly screwed." But she led him over to a hotel anyway to inquire about a room.
"Nah, I'll keep him off your back," Jason replied easily. "Nothing to worry about. If Dawn can protect Seth from him, then I don't see a problem for us."
