Xikah fluffed and beamed at the compliment, it was something of a weakness for him. This creature was entrancing and he couldn't figure out why, he wasn't shiny or something he could hide away in his nest. He wished his nest mate was here to see this too, she could usually figure these things out for him. "Hey.... Uh, who are you, why are you blue, your hair, can I touch it? What do we do here, when do I start?" he rattled off questions. His cousin rolled her eyes again and was going to warn Erasmus but her phone started ringing; most of the phones were ringing in the wayhouse. Things were busy again, and people were tripping on tied together shoes.
~~~
Taking her hand he lead her out of the sudden chaos of the wayhouse. He tried to maintain his calm and collected attitude for the sake of both of them, but he was just as excited. And the slight jump in his steps gave it away, even though he was long dead, sparks of life flitted through him. They were getting closer to helping the Dragon race out and fulfilling one of Irian's dreams. And he loved seeing her lit up with happiness.
"Come, we have much to do and it all needs to be done now! Oh, your excitement is afflicting me so! Lead the way and let Tempo take us, perhaps the eggs will still be there and waiting for us." He was hoping for the best, and a quick darting hand relaying his underlying anxieties.
~~~
"Oh? You like?" He did a twirl, his black wings glistening and the chains and piercings among the feathers glinted and jangled. Bits of silk daintily brushed the ground stirring up some filth, and bangles chimed out a sweet melody. Freya looked covetously at her mate, he always kept the best for himself, a shining bauble of a being. He looked very much out of place, a maintained appearance and almost clean. "But no doubt my failing son hasn't nearly as many fancy nor fabulous things as myself. And looking between the two I know I have the prettier nest mate, you haven't a feather to be seen." The tengu was constantly praising and stepping carefully around the harpy, as if a wrong step or a wrong word could send her into a rage. But having his garish outfit called out, he was picking and pulling at it as if trying to find a way to make it more flamboyant.
"Xikah child, need flock. Flock rules sky. Not Flock, no sky." Her eyes dangerously narrowed on her mate as he preened through his fabrics and jewels. "Mat-to, mine shiny." The tengu swiveled his head to face her, realizing what he was doing. "Matsuo, my dearest beauty. Mat-suo." He over pronounced his name for her, something that was probably a regular reminder, as he plucked a beautifully ornate necklace out from his sleeve. The piece could have been part of a costume as it was over the top. Freya squeeled and snatched it away with her sharp talons, tearing at the rich fabrics, ignoring her mate she gnawed on the jewelery and covered it in grime. He examined the damage done to his clothes with a reproachful eye.

(lol I think Xikah's the one who needs to be worried about Erasmus!)
Upon hearing this slew of questions the nymph smiled. This would certainly be a fun time, even if nothing came of it. "To answer your first questions, my name is Erasmus, and yes you may touch my hair. Though I would prefer if we waited til we are in my office. I can answer your other questions once we get there, I'm partially responsible for deliveries." Turning away, he motioned for the harpy to follow him inside the room. Erasmus rather thought this new coworker was a fascinating fellow, even after such a short acquaintance.
The dragon rider squeezed Julian's hand as she rushed them both towards Tempo after taking the lead. The image of this cliff blazed like a beacon within her mind and her emotions rolled without pausing one moment. Irian was far too preoccupied with leaving to worry about answering Julian, though she spared a thought to hope he didn't feel slighted.
Vaulting onto the dragon, she helped Julian up. Without a moment's pause Tempo flew up into the sky with powerful wing beats. Now high as they were it was easy to see the area surrounding the city. As they flew in circles, the cliffs came into view. Slowly Tempo landed and faced a cave entrance. From within came small sounds and the sight of darkness within shadows.
After watching the tengu for a few moments, the young woman nodded. "Yes actually." Once the interaction between Xikah's parents was finished, the young woman got an idea. Upon her ears hung two earrings made of glass beads and variously colored copper wires. They were things Orelia had created herself. Xikah always said he liked them, so maybe his parents would too.
Unhooking them quietly, the brown haired woman held one out to each winged being. "Here, why don't you each have one. I can make another pair easily enough. Catching the glance Matsuo was giving to his clothes, the young woman smiled. "And I can probably repair that sleeve, or try to. My sewing isn't the best but I can manage."

(the warning was going to be about Orelia, not Xeek XD)
Glad he wasn't wearing his new shoe things, Xikah wobble hopped after Erasmus into his office. The room was big enough to have a simple desk and a bookshelf in it, there were pictures on the walls, some of them looked like things his human-girl would like to paint. He couldn't help but stare into a tranquil scene of rivers and hills, it was like something he had flown through on his own but he couldn't help feel the need to show Orelia it too.
"Erasmus, where is this?" he asked, his nose but inches from the picture, he didn't notice how he rose up on his straightened legs to get closer. Even at his height he still didn't pose an intimidating figure, he was thin and all sharp angles.
~~~
His features becoming more dulled and deadened with time and excitement, Julian slid off the large dragon's back. He reached back up to his dragon-rider to help her down, he knew she didn't need the additional aid, but he felt compelled. Staring into the darkness of the cave, his eyes echoed the depths. Small skittering and other scratching noises drew them closer in their eager state. "Sweet? Can Tempo detect his own kind? Should we have brought any weapons of sorts with us on this... this... could we call it an adventure?" He was ready to storm in and take the castle by it's ears, if the dead haunted the cave, he at least had some power over them.
~~~
The dangling shinies had them both entranced. And the rest of the flock. Chattering and shrill screeches bounced around the clearing, a few brave harpies hopping forward, closer to the girl standing center. Their bravery was noticed and not appreciated, "Mine! I will shred your wings! Stupid Human gifts to me!" Freya snapped and flashed dangerous eyes at those harpies who sat below her in the flock hierarchy.
Matsuo glanced up from his toying to eye the earrings. They were beautiful, and shiny, and unique. He needed them. Hearing the harpy snap angrily at her flock, he turned on her, "Sweat Freya, she's giving them to me, she said she could get you different ones. And she will mend the delicate silks you so recklessly destroyed. You like seeing your mate disheveled don't you?" He accused her, a dangerous thing to do.
Flashing eyes swiveled to him, "I take you into nest, give you flock. You take this Human's gift over mine!?" The fury sparked off her like electricity off a live wire. His dead-pan stare back at her was cold and calculating. Energy was building up and lesser members of the flock flew off for their own safety as two titans faced off over simple baubles.

The nymph watched as the harpy examined the area, and smiled soflty as he got the urge to... Ascertain something about this intriguing fellow. Moving forward Erasmus wrapped his arms around Xikah and whispered soflty in his ear. "These are pictures of my home, I could show you the place if you wished it." Erasmus liked how the other felt in his arms, how anyone did. It made him feel that much less lonely to have someone so near.
Erasmus could feel the tengu's hearbeat beneath his hand and wonderd what those beautiful wings of his might feel like. Of course, he would not release the other until a complete and uter refusal had been spoken. It was the way the nymph had been raised, and how he liked things to be.
Slipping gracefully off Tempo's back while accepting Julian's aid, the young woman squeezed his hand as they walked towards the cave. It was more then time for them to find out what lay within. "They're eggs, Tempo can't know anything unless they hatch. As for weapons, we have the light Erasmus gave us. Hopefully it will be enough."So saying, Irian kept walking towards the cave with a certain kind of dreadful anticipation.
It was the moment of truth as she stepped within. If Julian hadn't been there she would have run inside without any heed for the strange creatures lurking in the dark. As it was, something grabbed hold of her ankle making her scream out in fear as it tugged and pulled while digging claws into the jeans she wore.
Orelia watched in amazement as the two began arguing about these small trinkets. Stepping forward she yelled out. "That's not what I meant! I wanted to give each of you an earring, that way everyone woudl know that you're each other's mates. It's also a way for me to show you that I want you two to like me. I love Xikah, more then anything in the world! Before I met him, I was a wreck. Always throwing myself at the first guy who shower any friendhship at all to me without any thought as to what might come next."
Pausing for a moment, the young woman stepped between her love's two enraged parents. "We met at a ball, when I was feeling really down. He was the only one who could make me smile... I realized just how much he meant to me when werebears started attackign everyone. I never thought anything or anyone could get me to kill, but I was so afraid when he got caught in that chandelier with a bear trying it's hardest to kill him! Laughing a little the young woman recalled that frightening moment, and small tears welled up in the corners of her eyes. "I killed it with a frying pan, to save Xikah! Now, you two may not approve of this union but ... He means everything to me, please don't take him away."

Xikah's eyes widened in surprise and confusion, his wings shot open and he jumped backwards and up. This caused mass amounts of chaos in the small office, things were knocked off shelves and off the desk. A wing collided with a solid object causing the Harpy-tengu to cry out in pain. He didn't like being surprised, and he hated the feeling of being captured. Despite the pain he continued his flailing and thrashing until he found himself perched on the nymph's desk, still he warily watched his new coworker. "Why did you try to capture Xikah like that? I am great warrior and with the help of my nest mate I have fought and killed werebears, if you weren't my boss-person I could have easily hurt you bad." He surveyed the mess with the knowledge that it was all his doing, he felt kinda proud and upset at the same time. At the same time he tried to avoid eye contact with Erasmus. "Uh, your home pictures are very pretty and my Orelia makes pictures that look like these windows. She would like it here, the offices, there are so many for her to talk and friend." He rambled on in a mumbling fashion, trying to avoid the anger he was sure to follow his outburst.
~~~
Julian grabbed hold of the dragon rider, his grip strong around her. The shadows seemed to pull at them, almost attempting to pull them away from each other. It all reminded him of the Fairy Court Trials where he met her. He knew better than to let her move away from him in these shadows, they had to push on together. Taking a brief pause to kiss her cheek and reassure her that he was still all there, he marched in kicking at the shadows with each step. The ghoul was used to the shadows and shades, still he hoped that the light that the nymph had given them would work.
The darkness seemed to get darker as they walked further in, as if the shadows were trying to envelope them and assimilate the two of them. It wasn't normal shadows and darkness they walked in. "Irian, I'm not sure I understand what this darkness is about us. But it's not natural."
~~~
The human's shouting caused the two of them to stop their stare down and bickering. They both turned on her, confused by her outburst. And even more confused by her tears and her willingness. They had never encountered a human who wanted to give them anything in return for nothing, and never before had they met one who wanted them to like them for no real reason. There was always an ulterior motive when dealing with humans, but this one wanted none of that. She just wanted them to understand and be happy for their child. And it was all too much for Freya's little mind.
"Human-girl makes bad sense. Harpy child Xikah needs flock. Flock needs Xikah. Human-girl need Xikah too? Flock not need human-girl. You kill Bearhuman to save my baby? Freya needs nap." She flopped down with no regards to the state of her wings, bird legs splayed out under her body. Her breathing was staggered and heavy, an upset and confused expression sat on her face.
"It may not seem it, small human, but you have impressed the Flock Mother. You may have also impressed me, but know this: we will continue to stop in and check on Xikah, he is the heir to my lands. I will take those beautiful baubles though." Matsuo stared long at Orelia, he could see why Xikah enjoyed the human's company, she was strong willed enough to put up with a harpy-tengu and open-hearted enough to accept and love him. Taking off the silken layer that had been damaged, he draped it over her shoulders, the pocket banged into her arm with an unusual weight. "You said you would fix it, and I said we would be back." He turned away from her in a dismissal manner and focused on his love. Kneeling down to be at her level he cooed softly and gently brushed his hand over her hair until she stopped huffing.

With a cry of surprise Erasmus fell to the ground. A wry laughter bubbled up from the man's mouth as he regarded the mess the harpy had caused. Something squeezed tight in his chest at the thought of being alone forever, but the nymph shook it off as he stood.
Moving towards the harpy he extended a hand in question towards one of his obviously ruffled wings. "Trapping you was far from my mind, I was flirting. But you obviously have a mate already, so I won't bother you with that again." Sitting down beside the harpy, Erasmus looked to the floor in an uncharacteristic moment of emotional vulnerability.
He actually looked lonely in that moment, instead of flirty and non-chalant. It didn't last long though as the man turned his purple eyes to the harpy with a smile. "You're welcome to bring your Orelia over to my place to visit, I'd like to meet her. She must be fascinating, to have captured your attention. Don't worry, I already know she's off limits." Shrugging after that, the nymph began to pick things up.
Cluthing Julian tightly, Irian was relieved to have him by her side. As they moved forward she began to imitate his actions, pushing the shadows away with quick snaps of her feet. Slowly but surely they entered the growing darkness of the cave, all the while Tempo encouraged his rider to move forward quickly.
Letting out a frustrated sound, Irian pulled out the light from her pocket and slipped it between her hand and that of the ghoul's with a half-smile. "Let's see if this will shine bright and scare these things away. I hope it does..."A little uncertainy slipped into her voice as a sliver of fear entered her mind. What if her love for Julian was a little one sided? Suddenly the shadows seemed darker and more powerful, as if they were sucking on the negative emotion which began to grow within the young woman.
Orelia watched with wide open eyes as Freya let herself fall to the ground and began heaving. The young brunette had to stop herself from laughing out loud at the strange sight, though the hilarity disappeared quickly enough to be filled with a tender feeling. Yes, Freya and Matsuo had kidnapped her but the way they cared for each other despite their differences ... It was making them grow on her.
She didn't know what to think when Matsuo slipped the ripped silk garment around her shoulders. Looking up at him she bowed her head a little then looked up with a bright smile. "Have you ever tasted Xeek's cooking? It's absolutely delicious! I could probably convince him to make something up for you two when you come to visit." Though she noticed quickly enough the cleaer dismissal in the harpy and the tengu's demeanor. With a small hmm, the young woman placed her hands in her pockets. One of them closed around an object. Curiosity gripped the young woman, but she thought better of the idea ... At least of immediately looking at the object.

Xikah didn't pull back when the nymph reached out towards his wing, he did wince a bit at the pain that came from it. He must have hit something hard to have caused this. He slowly lowered himself from the desk and started to help pick things up, "I think Orelia would like that, she... she's .... Something feels bad." His eyes were focused on something far off, and panic washed over his face. He didn't know what it was but he didn't like the feeling.
The door eeked open and Skyler's head poked in. "I just wanted to tell you guys... What happened here?" The scene before her was a mess, Erasmus's office was in shambles, and she thought for a brief moment she saw a look of pure emotion on his face. If she didn't know him she would have said he looked lonely and sad. Her cousin was hunched over helping the nymph pick things up, but he seemed to be lost, with a face of pain. "Era, I need you for a moment. There's been a change from above."
~~~
This seemed all too familiar to him, the darkness was pulling at them both, and he could have sworn that it was trying to pull them apart. He knew it wasn't the same darkness from the Land of the Dead but it had the same wanting and he was taking a vacation from all that, but the same weight made him re-think all his responsibilities, both his new ones with his partner and those of his position. It was as if he was being buried by the graves again. Having Irian slip the gem between their hands was a reassuring pull back from the shadows, "We don't need to hope that it will, we need to believe that it will shine brighter than ever. And it will, we've done this before, we've proven to the Courts, we can prove it to these shades. I know we can, I love you." He didn't want to let her down, he didn't want himself to fall back into the darkness, he wanted these eggs to be sound and safe at the end. By saying it loudly he hoped that the gem would just burst into light, or that the shadows would shirk away.
Nodding silently the nymph slipped outside. He wasn't in the mood for flirting, or joking around. The blue skinned man just wanted to go home and hide away in the forest where he knew loneliness would be chased away by the welcoming whispers of his home. "What is it Sky?" Some of his feelings wriggled into his melodious voice, making Erasmus wince a little. This would just not do! Reaching out the nymph slipped a hand over the harpy's feathered wings with a smile. Yes.. That made his feelings rise.
Looking up at the undead man, the dragon rider smiled. His words had chased the shadows away for her, like they always did. Irian wasn't afraid anymore, because he was right. "And I love you too Julian, as much if not more then Tempo. And you know how much me saying that means." At those words a warm light began growing from between their joined hands, then grew to chase the shadows away. It wasn't bright like the sun, but warm like a fire.
"I know it's not my place, but don't push Xikah. And I know you; he's really flighty about most things, his parents wrecked him, but he needs friends. Erasumus," Skyler closed her eyes at the soft touch, she could hear the difference in his voice and had an idea of what had happened. As awful as it seemed, she liked being able to see these glimpses of the true nymph. She couldn't believe what she was going to say, " please, I would do anything to see that my thick-headed cousin knew true friendship." She sighed knowing that this might mean that she would have to let her own guards down around him and spend time outside of the office with him. Straightening up and fluttering her wings softly, her looks returned to more business like. "Anyways, words in from upstairs, there's been something causing more of a stir than anything out by the city park. Something or someone has crossed over with the intention of trouble, at least that's what they're telling me. They want you to pick a team of four to check this out."
~~~
The gem brightened up the path, they had almost made it. "Even if you had said that you love me almost as much as Tempo, I would know how much that is. But to hear you say that makes my heart soar above all." The end of the path was almost in sight, strange shapes cluttered the shadows. They were more natural and organic than the writhing shadows. It might just be what they had braved all this for, and he wanted to share the full discovery, experience the excitement. He gripped her hand and the gem again, the light pulsing brighter.

From depressed and lonely to flirty in under a minute, the nymph reached out to play with Skyler's hair. "You don't need to do anything, the guy's fun to hang out with. Unlike his all too serious relative." Planting a seductive gaze on the harpy, Erasmus couldn't help but feel just a little glad that she had thought of asking him to be friends with her cousin. So... Maybe she didn't think he was so bad after all.
Turning his thoughts to business, Erasmus pouted a little. He really didn't want to leave, not when things were so interesting in the office. "Oh alright, but only because you want me to Sky. I wonder if I can get a date out of this..." Trailing off absentmindedly the blue skinned nymph ambled out of the area to go and gather the other members of his team. Just because he looked pretty didn't mean Erasmus couldn't fight.
Simply gracing Julian with a smile, the redhead kept moving forward with eager steps. She could see what looked like familiar shapes. Irian had come across so many eggs that she was sure those where what awaited them further in the cave. As they approached the shadows made another attempt to grab them, but by now the light was too bright for them to even come close.
A pile of what seemed like rocks were gathered together by one of the walls. Specks of jewel tones covered the sandy colored eggs, eliciting a delighted laugh from the rider. They were still alive! "Julian they're alive! This is amazing, it's been so long since we've found a live clutch." Too long really... Soon enough though Tempo would be able to find his own mate, and perhaps bring more dragons into the world that way.

Xikah tried putting things back in the office, a few things had cracks in them and there was now an odd tower of strange things on the desk. He was trying very hard to not pick up things and examine them for too long, but he had been left alone for three long minutes now. Getting more bored the harpy-tengu started to rifle through the bookcase he had crashed into. Most of the books seemed long-winded and dull and not at all what would keep him occupied. Letting out an excited squawk he plopped down with a large picture book, it had photos in it, and many of them seemed to be just snapshots. Thumbing through the pictures he saw smiling faces that he remembered from the other offices. There was even a couple of his cousin, smiling and laughing. There were happy memories in the album from what looked like a few years ago... and he felt an odd feeling that he shouldn't be looking in the book anymore... Putting the book on the top of the teetering pile Xeek started taking other books out to make a large card-house.
~~~
Settling back into their usual back and forth was welcoming as she rolled her eyes dramatically. "One of us has to be serious about this. And more likely in this place, I'm enough serious for everyone. Do whatever you usually do, Era. They don't let me out much anymore. I've turned into a regular desk-harpy now... " she sighed deeply ,"Come back with a story." She turned and shuffled back to the front desk, reminiscing on the early years of the WayHouse.
~~~
Light spread eerily across his face, glinting madly off his pearly grin. The complete lack of eyes absorbed the light, reflecting darkness back out, his skin back to a deathly grey. "This is fantastic! My Dear you've done it, we've found living eggs! This is something to revel upon and share immediately!! Tempo should know, he probably already knows, the dragon probably knew as soon as you saw them! Weft should know as well! Who knows what he's been doing, but this is a boon that he would live to hear about! And can you imagine Tempo and Weft meeting? What if the eggs hatch before we can get them elsewhere? What if they need the warmth of a female dragon? What if they'll perish if we remove them from here? Oh no oh no oh no..." The ghoul went from ecstatic to panicky in a moments notice as he rambled his thoughts out loud. His fingers and hands where flying about nervously as he spoke, jumping from thought to thought. Julian had lost his cool and collected demeanor at the excitement of these eggs, he knew how much they meant to Irian and the thought of losing them was almost akin to losing her.

Shaking her head a little at the ghoul's panic, the young woman bent down to examine the eggs more closely. They'd been trough a lot, but they were fighters. Even unborn they exuded a will to survive, unlike the few of their brethren who had fallen to the cold and shadows of the cavern. There were ten eggs, but only half of them had survived this ordeal. Considering the fact that at the moment Irian knew of only ten other dragon riders who flitted from Tempo's world and her own, this was a very large boon indeed. Five more of the graceful creatures to grace the skies and aid in the survival of their race.
Picking up one of the eggs gently, the young woman held it in one arm as she caught one of Julian's hands. Placing it upon the sphere, she looked up at him with joy. "Jules, calm down please. These five want to live more then anything else in the worlds, and they will. They wait only for the right people to hatch, or the right circumstances. " Eyes sparkling, the redhead titled her head up to capture the ghoul's lips with her own for a sweet kiss. She was so happy! Her heart was bursting with emotions, all warm ones which chased down the shadows all on their own with their strength.
They were three, no six , strange creatures from dwellings in the dark realms. Come to invade this world as so many had tried before. Only a few were there to face them, two more then their number. A row of soldiers led b a blue skinned nymph wielding magic as well as daggers. Slipping quickly past the guard of an armored mace wielding thing, Erasmus slashed fiercely with both thought and knife to rend the creature in two.
None of them would get past him to harm his friends. No one would die on that day in defense, save Era if the need arose. They were under his command and hence under his protection. Amethyst eyes fierce, he realized that none of his enemy remained. "Good job everyone, time to head back now!" Whipping down his knives, he slipped them away quietly and placed a glamor upon himself to appear human once more. Though ... He did keep his purple hair as it was.
Soon enough he'd returned to the wayhouse with his cocky grin and flirtatious ways. Though now Erasmus felt lonelier then ever.
After a while, the harpies had grabbed Orelia in their dirty claws and returned her to her home. Back in the apartment, the young woman set to work. There was no telling when Xeek's parents might show up! First things first. Grabbing the coat she'd been given, Orelia examined it carefully.
She wanted to know what was in the pocket. Fixing the thing gave her the perfect excuse. Then there were those two pairs of matching earrings to make. Flamboyant, shiny, and absolutely wonderful. Yes, that was what they would be. Then on to her project. Or maybe multitasking was in order? A thought crossed her mind, but she left it aside. Xikah was fine, he always was.

The book fort had grown since he had started, and some where in the Wayhouse Xikah had found blankets and a flash light. In the time he had been left alone with out a job to do he had turned Erasmus's office into an epic fort, complete with a corner hammock nest in which he was napping. Some how he had managed all this without drawing attention to himself or to the room in general.
~~~
Her phones rang occasionally and she had a few stop in for help, but it was showing to be a slow night. Aside from the dignitaries and whatever they needed Era and his team to handle, nothing interesting happened. Skyler was getting bored balancing a pen on her upper lip she almost missed the team returning. She was deep in thought remembering when she used to go on those missions before they decided that she was too much of a liability. And she almost got as far back in her memories to when the WayHouse found her and helped her out of what seemed like a death trap. Thankfully there weren't any reminders of that time left around.
~~~
Julian suddenly snapped back to reality with the kiss. Melting, his smile returned, brilliant grin full of happiness. His hand on one of the eggs he could feel the warmth radiating off. Finally composing himself again, he took the egg from her and knelt down to pick up a second one. He knew they couldn't leave a single one behind or risk losing it to the darkness. "I'm sure I can carry three of them out, but we're going to need something to safely move them once we set off with Tempo.... Love? Are they supposed to move around inside the shell?" It was all new to him having only known Weft, who was long dead, and Tempo, a full adult. The dragon rider knew much more, it being in her line of work and life.

Whispering to herself softly as she worked, Orelia finally gave in. Really it hadn't been all that long since her arrival, but she needed to speak with Xeek. The meeting with his parents had shaken her more then she wanted to admit. Grabbing a phone she dialed the cell she'd given to Xeek in the hopes that he would answer. On of her hands kept busy though, fiddling with the object she'd found in the coat she was repairing. The young woman had no idea what it was. Hopefully the harpy tengu would know, it belonged to his father after all. Though ... She was almost under the impression the man had given it to her, otherwise he would have taken it out of the coat, wouldn't he?
----------
Walking tiredly trough the halls, and glancing in his office, the nymph moved to meet with Skye. He needed to see her more then ever after such a battle. Erasmus hadn't wanted to admit it to himself, but he had been protecting her much more then anything else. The man wanted to feel the soft feathers of her wings to make sure that the harpy was safe and sound. That was all that mattered right now when loneliness assailed him so terribly after so many reminders that he had no love in his life.
Era the flirt, Era the nymph, wanted someone he could call his own. "Hey there pretty bird! Still want to hear about my exploits?" Wrapping an arm around Skye after he burst into her office, the purple haired man placed a soft kiss upon her cheek. Placing his head gently upon her shoulder, Erasmus sighed. This was very bad, he wasn't even in the mood for his usual banter with Skye.
--------
Bending down to grasp the other two eggs with a smile, the young woman tilted her head to the side as the ghoul went on. "Don't worry, I have everything with Tempo. I always do, in the hopes that something like this happens. " At the mention of movement within one of the precious eggs, her brown eyes lit up. Irian didn't dare hope for what this might mean, but she did. Would Julian soon know the joy that she did with Tempo, her brother of the skies and true friend? Casually standing, while tamping down her excitement, Irian glanced at Julian. "They move when about to hatch, or if they are excited. It's a good sign." Tempo hadn't hatched for her. He had done so in order to go searching for his rider. Caring for him in his youth hadn't been her lot, more the pity but their bond was still the strongest of any of the riders of his world. "Don't worry dearest Julian, but smile. Who knows, you might fly on your own dragon one day."Maybe that dragon would be Tempo's mate, who knew? If things went as Irian hoped.

Skyler came back dreamily to reality, leaving her thoughts drifting. She rolled her eyes as she batted lightly at him, he was being more clingy and flirty than usual. Something bugged her in the back of her mind, and the phone rang. Pushing the nymph off her a bit, she answered, "Thank you for calling the WayHouse, how may we direct your call? ... Orelia? Yeah I can get him." She tilted her head away from the mouth piece to look at Erasmus, "Is he in your office still? Should I patch the call through?" Some how she knew that her cousin was still sitting waiting for someone to tell him what to do next. He went either of two ways, his own or the way to fit into a flock. [/b]"Thank you for holding, I'll patch you through."[/b] pushing buttons the call transferred over. Spinning in her chair, she took his hands, "Ok, Erasmus. Yes I would like to hear of your exploits, was it like the old days?"
~~~
The phone rang loudly startling him awake. He jumped and rolled out of the hammock he had strung up, landing unceremoniously on top of a smaller book fort, hurting himself. Realizing the phone was still ringing he stared at it wide eyed, before coming up with a wonderful plan. "Your call can not be placed as there are little pink elephants tearing through the kitchen. They are after the human oreo cookies, those are very yummy." he thought it was clever.
~~~
The movement inside the egg was hypnotizing, but he knew that they had to leave the cave. He was excited by the idea of possibly having a baby dragon of his own, but unreasonable fears kept leaking into his thoughts. He didn't even notice that it was causing the everbirght crystal to flicker slightly. Keeping his tumbling thoughts to himself, they walked back out of the cave, the darkness filling in behind them. As soon as they stepped out of the cave the one egg nearly tumbled out of his hands it was moving so much, he had to juggle the others so none of them fell. His hands had long since gone cold and were pale as death. Julian grinned widely at his red-head as he go the eggs in control, "They all seem well, but this one. This one won't stop moving and wriggling about! As if she wants to go on an adventure and can't wait to start!."

Pouting a little at being ignored and pushed away, Erasmus crossed his arms. Nodding at the appropriate times, the nymph was chased down by jealousy. Lucky harpy-tengu to have someone to love! It was only when he had Sky's attention on him again did Erasmus smile. Squeezing her hands, he settled down to weave his tale. "It was just as exciting! The clash of metal upon metal, the singing of blades and battle cries filling the air! I took down many with my daggers and magic, taking down foes more then twice my size. Though ... Thoughts of ..." Catching himself, Erasmus felt his cheeks warm and take on a darker hue. Turning his head to hide his raw loneliness, the nymph could only hope the harpy hadn't seen.
The young woman tapped her foot a little impatiently as she waited to be patched trough. Of course she knew Sky was probably very busy, but she just had to speak with her harpy. Orelia sighed in relief when a familiar voice slipped trough the phone. The silly words made a smile appear on the brunette's face as she plopped down on a nearby chair. "That's wonderful, and I have some news for you Xeek. Your parent's stopped by. We had a ... Rather interesting chat." Fiddling absentmindedly with a lock of hair, the young woman thought back to the surprising events. After the initial fear of it all, the meeting had been alright.
Following behind Julian til they emerged from the cave, Irian rushed to Tempo and began arranging what they needed for the eggs. Setting up the large padded bag didn't take too long, and soon enough Irian had her two eggs settled within the furs. As Julian grinned at her, she moved to catch hold of the two unmoving eggs. Once those two were also taken care of, Irian went to place a hand upon her ghoul's arm with a smile. "I have to ask though, how do you know the dragon is a she?" Tempo chuckled lightly behind Irian, an obvious sign of mirth. He knew what was going on, Irian did also, but Julian had to figure it out himself. And if they were wrong, well so be it.

Xikah didn't know what to do, he was shaking with rage and fear. His wings trembled violently and his eyes darkened as the pupils filled the space. Silence lapsed as wave after wave hit him, his stomach dropped and he felt sick. Finally opening his mouth he managed a harsh whisper, "Stay put. Find your Frying Pan." was all he said before it all finally caught up and he lost it. Slamming the phone across the office he finally let his anger out, "The flock... The FLOCK... They-they- they will not take what is mine. NEVER will that happen EVER again!!" The poor phone had broke on contact with the wall, leaving a dent behind. Flinging the door open wildly, he stormed out, his wings puffed up and flared out. Eyes across the building were on him as he quickly stormed out. Passing through the front office, where Skyler's desk faced the door, he barely missed the two chatting softly. Spinning on his toes, digging light scratches into the floor, his eyes looked dangerous staring at the two.
"You did this! You Set Me Up!" Slamming his fists down on the table, causing everything to shake. "THEY found me! They found HER! The Flock will pay dearly. You will too if you don't help." He turned on her and the nymph as he slammed open and shut the door, leaving the wayhouse. The night air was cool on his flushed face as he barreled through the sky trying to get home as quick as physically possible. He was ready for a fight with not just his parents but the whole flock if needed. He had sworn to protect her, and he had left her alone just long enough for her to be found.
It took too long by his count to get home. He could smell the stench of death and feathers that usually accompanied the flock where ever it traveled. He felt even sicker than before as he neared the balcony. Landing and opening the window to hop in his eyes darted around ready for an attacker to come out of nowhere , every muscle was flexed and prepared.
~~~
She smiled as he recounted his mini-adventure. It sounded like something she missed. To be out with silver blades and to strike from above, fighting side by side with her fellows for the safety of the humans and their own kind. But things changed with time, "Too bad I couldn't have been out there with you, sounds like you had all the fun." She laughed lightly finding herself enjoying his company. Skyler was feeling comfortable listening to him, she gave him a puzzled look as he faltered in his story but couldn't ask what was on his mind as an outburst interrupted.
Staring agape at the transformation in Xikah she could have sworn she was staring back at her aunt. The accusations flying at her and the threats piercing her, her mouth moved open and closed without a word passing through. The anger was clearly motivated by fear in the way he was shaking, but he was still his parents' child and that anger was something to fear. Biting back tears, she found that she had tightened her grip on Erasums's hands and had pulled herself closer to him.
~~~
Caught by surprise Julian blinked transferring his gaze from the egg to the rider and back. "I... I-I don't know. It just feels right, like she wants me to know." The egg calmed down briefly emitting a low hum before it resumed its violent shaking and rocking again. Holding on tightly he looked up frantically at Irian, "She wants out... but not here..." the ghoul whispered, barely audible, his nerves and fears overcoming his excitement. How the egg was able to contact him confused upset him slightly, and he couldn't figure why. He had conflicting feelings and desires, some of which were his own, but another, much stronger and alien one was trying to dominate. It wanted to travel, to explore, to eat... it very much wanted to eat.

Maybe she shouldn't have told him like that. Staring at the phone, Orelia sighed. It had been a mistake, a really bad one, to tell Xikah so bluntly that she'd met his parents. Now he was panicking. The thought that he was angry hadn't really crossed her mind. In the time they'd known each other, the harpy-tengu had never really shown any kind of anger towards Orelia. Sure he'd been upset about things, but he'd never shown his hereditary temper.
It didn't seem like too long before she heard the sound of a window opening. Slipping from the couch, and hanging up the phone, Orelia moved cautiously towards Xikah. She had no idea how the white haired male would react, not really. This was one time the brunette wished he was a little more predictable. "Xikah you didn't need to come home. I'm fine!" On the sofa, Matsuo's jacket lay. Laying on the table was a pile of shiny beads and different colored copper wires. Orelia had been trying to decide what to do first when Xikah arrived.
Smiling a little at her words, the nymph turned to face Skyler again. That was when an angered harpy-tengu burst into the area. Unthinkingly, Erasmus moved to place himself between Xikah and Skyler. That proved to him, more then anything else he'd ever done or felt, that his feelings lay with Skyler. This was remarkable really. Even in battles, he didn't just throw himself in front of people without regards to his own safety.
After the whirlwind left, Erasmus leaned against the desk with a sigh. Now what was supposed to happen? Feelings were tumbling about in the warmly colored room. But they weren't ones the nymph was ready to share yet. "What was that about?" mumbled Erasmus to cover how very uncomfortable he was at the moment.
Tempo moved to Julian's side and nudged him gently. The man was really too nervous for his own good. "Calm down, if she wants to hatch here she will. There's no stopping a dragon when it wants to leave it's shell." The rumbling mental voice was directed at Julian for once. Tempo liked the man, and approved of Irian's choice in him but he really was annoying sometimes! Mentally rebuking him, Irian shook her head and went to place her hands around the rather large egg to help. Murmuring soothing words as much for the dragonette inside as for Julian, she smiled softly.
This was a dream come true. "Everything will be alright, my love. Just breathe, and relax. You'll upset her." There was food in the packs, and plenty of it. Irian knew how hungry a baby dragon could be after watching other hatchings. Somehow, this one seemed so much more exciting. Maybe because this meant as much to her, as it probably did for Julian.

Trembling she looked up at him, ”That was the fury of something that shouldn't be provoked.” tears were threatening to fall. ”Erasmus, he thinks I called his family in, that's something I wouldn't wish on anybody.” Skyler turned away form him, she didn't know what to do, Xikah was family but her family was one of the scariest thing she knew and he had just proven that again. She didn't want to face the Flock, nor did she want to find out if Xikah would follow through on his threats. Her wings fluttered slightly emitting a soft rustling noise. She sat up tall and pushed back her shoulders. The harpy's face changed as it took on a look of determination. ”Era, I can't let things go from pan to fire, we need to get facts straight and let someone know what we're about to do.”
~~~
His eyes darted around the room wildly searching. Orelia was there and he rushed over to her, touching her and making sure she was alright. Spotting the jacket on the couch, his eyes narrowed again as he pulled the brunette tight against himself. Hissing, he called out to the room, ”Matsuo! Show yourself! I know you're here! Mother would never hide, she wouldn't... she-she's not here. He's not here.... They trapped us! It's a trick! Orelia we escape, you stay with me. I keep you with me.” he was living through his mind's worst case scenarios, his parents had trapped him only to make him watch as they took what was his, destroyed his happiness and his life. Again.
Fear gained ground over anger and waves is sickness gripped him. In his mind they were behind every door, in every tree, under all the rugs. Xikah pulled her into their room and onto the bed, he wrapped his wings around them and ran his hands over her head. Assuring himself that she was still with him, his breathing was quick and short. He watched the corners and the doors ready for anything to get him and his mate, his body had switched from fight to flight in a matter of minutes and the muscles being tensed up it was possible for him to switch back in seconds. The flock was why he had never settled down before now, he never wanted them catching up with him or finding him.
~~~
Swallowing and remembering who he was, Julian came back to earth. Although staring at the egg he could still feel the nudges and intrusions of the unborn's thoughts and needs, and he was still not used to the idea of sharing his mind. He smiled as the thought struck him and chuckled lightly. ”hmm, the undead and the unborn, although things won't be like that for long it seems. No, Tempo. It's like she wants to come out and explore everything, but she won't come out here. There's something about this place that she doesn't want to experience. I'm not stopping her, she's stopping herself.” The egg bounced and teetered as if to punctuate his sentences for him. Even as Julian had regained his own nerves the egg continued on its energetic thrashings, small hairline fractures beginning to show on the thich shell.

A little panic flew trough him. Skyler was so upset, all Erasmus wanted to do was wrap her up in his arms and take her away to his home. There she could relax, and recuperate ... Maybe even fall in love with Erasmus eventually. Shaking the thought off, the nymph moved to pull her into his arms despite the fact that she now seemed alright. "After that, will you come to my home? You need to relax, take some time off. I'll give you some keys, and you can have free run of the place." The words left his mouth before Erasmus knew what he was saying.
Images of the harpy flying above the forest surrounding his home had the nymph smiling as he passed a hand trough her hair. It wasn't such a bad idea. Maybe Xikah and his Orelia would want to go too. Erasmus had to arrange it, that way maybe the harpy cousins would get trough their differences and the young woman might be able to take pictures, or paint or do whatever it was she did.
Everything was a blur as Xikah swept into the room, pulling Orelia close. She hadn't expected this at all. Though she knew she should have. As he spoke, calling out to his parents, the young woman suddenly saw the resemblances. The harpy-tengu spoke like his mother when he was upset, and had a penchant for the flamboyant like his father. And he was also a person completely his own, with no ties to them at all. So, Orelia did nothing and simply let the white haired male pull her to their room and put his wings around her protectively.
Relaxing completely into his hold, Orelia then firmly framed Xikah's face with her hands and made him look at her. "Listen to me! Don't say a word until I'm done." Basically glaring at him, the young woman let her brown eyes show that she was completely serious. "Here is what happened. Some of your parent's flock came to capture me. Your parents wanted to use me as a lure, to get you to go to them and stay there. I tried to butter them up, give them a pair of earrings you know ... Said I could make some more, but it wasn't working. So I screamed at them while they were arguing. Freya, well I kind of confused her and Matsuo said I'd kind of maybe impressed them, and that they would be checking up on us." Leaning forward she began smoothing down Xikah's wings. Gently, she began feathering kisses along his neck until she reached his lips. There the young woman lingered, savoring the taste of this man she'd already gone trough so much for.
Irian could tell what was going on, even if Julian hadn't said anything. It had been a shock for her too when Tempo's thoughts kept cropping up into her mind so easily, when his needs were clear as crystal to her, just as it was for him. They were siblings, of different races, of the closest kind. They were friends, and they each knew they would never truly be alone. That unconditional friendship had gotten Irian trough so much .... Without him, she might now have been the woman who had managed to capture the ghoul's affections.
"It looks like she'll burst out whether she wants to or not." Smoothing a hand over Julian's hair, her brown eyes were fixed upon the egg as the cracks appeared. That was when Tempo stared singing in his deep rumbling voice, crooning to the dragon coming into the world and welcoming her. It nearly broke Irian's heart, hearing such longing in his voice. He wanted someone to love, someone all his own the way Irian had given herself over to Julian completely and utterly.

"Erasmus, we would all do better to stay with someone if the Flock is really here." She said a bit sadly, she wished it wasn't the case. "They are usually an early symptom of a greater problem. Harpies are usually good at breaking charms and gates, but this Flock also has a Tengu with them and that's where they gain an extra boost in destruction. Other things generally follow them, things that can't break charms but are much better at destroying everything else. Like demons and hell-beasts. I can't say if they still do, it's been a very long time since I flew in any flock, but Era... She looked up at him, their eyes connecting. "I might lose my job as receptionist when we break this... They might just have to re-form the team." She grinned at the idea.
~~~
Forced to stare into her eyes, he wiggled slightly, only getting his face squished a bit more. Seeing how she was safe and was commanding him to sit still and quiet, he just nodded. Listening to what she had to say, he was impressed and upset at the same time. When she was finished she started smoothing his feathers down, which felt nice, and the many kisses, which was very nice, he had to push her gently away.
"Orelia, I need..." he just barely made it to the bathroom where his nerves got the best of him and his stomach evacuated. He still had the uneasiness about him, but it no longer sat in his stomach like a rotten rock. Rinsing his mouth out in the sink and splashing the cool water in his face he returned, only to sit on the edge of the bed. "So you got them to not keep you? I love you, no one has gotten my mom to give something up. Even Matsuo has problems with that." Suddenly his eyes got big and his mouth fell, "I threatend Sky... I'm just as bad as my parents..."
~~~
Julian lost himself in that deep singing, and the egg only seemed to get more excited by it. It rocked and teetered, things were thrashing and banging the inside of the shell, expanding the cracks. A small piece flipped off as a pearly egg tooth punctured the hard shell. The small opening in the shell expanded quickly as the small dragon repetitively slammed its head and egg tooth at the spot.
As soon as there was enough room, her jaw poked through and she started tearing and crunching down on the shell. She made quick work with the shell and soon Julian had a small deep red dragon writhing in his arms, her wings were still small nubs. Her beady black eyes locked with his black voids and she launched herself at his face, clinging and gnawing at what she could, loudly demanding thoughts of food into his mind.

It was all such an exciting thing. "An adventure? We could branch out on our own you know, my sweet. Taking the world by storm. You with your fierce beauty, and I with my charming personality." The prospect had Erasmus laughing and grinning with anticipation. Treasure hunting sounded like such a wonderful task! Shiny things for her, pretty things ... Shaking his head, the nymph found himself sinking into loneliness again. He wanted someone for once, and she saw him only as a friend. That in itself was such a difficult thing to overcome.
After watching him run away into the bathroom, she fiddled lightly with her hair. Orelia wasn't sure how to react, to follow him or not ... It was a relief when the harpy came back. "Then why not go and explain? I'm sure Sky would listen to you and understand that you panicked because you were worried about me." Biting her lower lip, Orelia suddenly remembered what she held in a hand. Holding the object out, she titled her head to the side. "What is this? I can't seem to figure it out." She failed to mention where the object had come from, and why she held it in her hand.
Tempo reached out to gently hold down the little dragon while his rider gave Julian some food. She'd been just a little frightened when the dragon started gnawing on him. "Are you alright?" Silently she shoved the food into his hands, more of it anyway. It was hard to tell what this red one would like. Tempo had been a few years old when he'd arrived on her doorstep. Now the rider was glad of that, more then glad, after seeing the way this fledgling reacted. Though she rather thought it might have had to do with it's, her, budding personality.

He leaned in to take a closer look, the item was intricate and ornate, but only in its designs, other wise it was a simple metal ball. Their were markings on it that seemed like they formed phrases, his nose nearly touched the metal as he tried reading the etchings. His eyes bugged and he leaned back grateful that he hadn't touched it. "Where did you get something like this? It's a magic orb with some sort of enchantment or curse. It's meant to turn on or open somehow... by a 'Two-Souled Touch'?? I don't know, but I'm not sure I like it..." He stood up and reached out for her hand, "Come on we can ask Erasmus, he seems to know about magic shinies. I need to talk with Sky and I'm not leaving you here this time."
~~~
"We might just have to... That is if you want to join me in this mess I'm about to uncover. I'm sure Xeek and Orelia wouldn't mind helping me out and I think I can ask Daisy, you know the Manitcore from accounting? She told me that she's been feeling itchy in her cubical unable to stretch out and she wanted to try out her new human-form illusion." She had almost forgotten about why she was planning all this suddenly. Skyler was whirling in thought and plans, if things were how she thought they were, they were about to get much worse. As if on cue all the phones started ringing in the building, knowing she had to return to her job while she was still here the harpy looked at him before picking up her phone. "If you want to, you should think about taking what you need from your office for this adventure, oh and I don't know what Xikah did in your office so be careful."
~~~
Having the small dragon coaxed away from his face with the food, he was able to give a crooked smile, dark scratches gouged into his face, "I guess it's a boon that I've got no pulse or blood right now. Here little one, eat this not my face." he held more out for her and she attacked it greedily, trying to wrestle it out of his hands and into her claws. Hmm, what do I call you?" he wondered out loud, now entranced by the vicious little hatchling. "Tuyere. And I want more." Her thoughts were loud and clear, even as she struggled with the piece of food she already had.

"Your father gave it to me." Standing after Xikah did, the brunette reached out to take his hand. Squeezing a little, she gave him a brief smile. "Nothing's gonna happen! But I don't want you to go anywhere without me either." She felt just as protective of him as he did her. There were just so many things they'd gone trough, and Orelia had the feeling they would go trough many more.
This was going a little over the nymph's head. All he knew was that trouble was brewing, and quite a bit of it at that. It had Sky contemplating starting up a team again to face whatever came their way though. "I'll go get what I need while you take care of all this. And after, maybe we can go on a date. " Chuckling to himself, Erasmus moved away from the harpy after brushing a hand over her hair and pressing a soft kiss to her forehead.
Still smiling, he went to his office and began packing a black leather bag with the things he would need, then strapped on his daggers with great care.
Reaching out to pass a hand over the scratches, Irian frowned a little. He might have been dead, but that didn't mean Julian should be quite so trite about this. That dragon needed to learn some manners! "Well Tuyere, you need to learn that gouging your rider's face is a big faux pas." That had Irian smiling up at Tempo as he looked down at this newest dragon. It reminded her of the other eggs, making the redhead stand and run over to check on them to make sure they were alright. Finding them nestled safe and sound, and warm, had her sighing in relief. Now she could go back and sit down beside Julian and his dragon with no more worries, actions which Irian put into play right after thinking them.

((Sorry it took so long and it's short))
"If Matsou gave it to you, then we need it looked at. I don't trust him." He eyed the bauble warily, deep down he knew that his father wouldn't try to destroy him, but he wasn't entirely sure that he wouldn't try to make his life a living misery. He pulled her close and launched out the window taking flight. The added weight of his mate didn't hinder his ability to fly too much, just slowing him down slightly and making quick turns dangerous, but the path to the Wayhouse was relatively straight. The building coming into view he started dropping altitude and was reading both himself and Orelia for a landing. "Come in with me, this place will be so fun for you! There are many of us that you can use for your created pictures!" He was getting excited about just showing her what it looked like, and he hadn't worked a full day nor met everyone yet, but he was certain that they would welcome her inside. Pushing in the doors he saw Skyler answering phones again and he suddenly remembered what he needed to do, shuffling up to her he cleared his throat. "Uh, Sky... I erm, found Orelia safe." He was terrible at apologies.
~~~
Skyler looked up from her busy work of jotting down things as someone on the other end spouted information. She didn't expect him to return so quickly nor with Orelia, but she was relieved that he had gotten her back. The harpy was still a bit apprehensive after his outburst, she kind of wanted Erasmus near by in case anything happened. The stuttering and the weak follow up made her realize just what her cousin was trying to do. "It's alright, I'm glad she's fine. Hello Dear, how were your adventures tonight? And are the rumors true then?"
~~~
The little fire ball hissed at the larger dragon, swiping a small claw at him. "It's my food, I got it first!! His face wasn't any good anyways..." Despite her bravado she still pushed her small body into the ghoul's using him as protection. Julian had a stupid grin on as he fawned over his dragon, looking up as Irian returned he spoke, "So how are the others doing? And what are we to do with them?"
