"Yeah, no. Sand and hot and dry do not mix well with us. We like water." Xander shrugged. "We'll probably try to find a proper eyrie for Calypso too once we're back home."

"That should be interesting," Faith replied. "What are ocean eyries like? We never got the chance to see them."

"It's a huge system of underwater caves, all varying in size and shape. They're all somewhat connected." Xander shrugged. "Most of them are at least partially submerged."

"Well, I didn't know they were connected," Faith commented, "but otherwise, it's kind of like what I was picturing. The ones in the mountains are pretty much just caves carved into the living rock. They usually start out all the same size, but the dragons change them as they like."

"Makes sense, I guess." Xander shrugged. "I think the only way we change the eyries is by decorating them. Maybe they change some things around, rocks and whatnot, but I doubt it. We don't usually stay in our dragons eyries because it's too hard and they tend to sleep mostly in the water anyway."

"Mountain dragons actually dig out more of their eyries," Faith said. "Make them bigger and all that. Sometimes they even find their own veins of metal or gemstones."

"Ah. Yeah. Makes sense." Xander shrugged. "Calypso needs the extra space in the underwater eyries. I don't think she'd fit in one of yours. Maybe right now, but certainly not when she's full grown."

"Lapis hasn't had time at all to decorate her eyrie yet," Faith said. "We were only there long enough for her to get strong enough for a long flight, then we volunteered for the exchange program." She grinned. "Not that she doesn't have things to decorate with now."

Xander nodded. "Yeah, she doesn't have her own eyrie yet. She was still in the hatchlings eyrie when we left." So when we get back, I'm sure she'll want to pick out her own."

"I can't imagine the size of the eyrie she's going to need," Faith replied. "I mean, even the mountain eyries are huge, but an ocean eyrie..." She shook her head. "That's a massive cave right there."

"Well, only if they want to come all the way out of the water," Xander said with a shrug. "You've seen Calypso. She doesn't come all the way out of the water, only maybe half sometimes." She shrugged.

"I'd like to see the mountains sometime though. It would be hard for Calypso and I to get up there, but we could probably find a river that gets all the way up there."

"I think there might be one or two rivers that spawn from internal lakes in the mountains," Faith mused. "Nothing like the Split River, of course, but high enough up that we could find you if you got there."

"That might be neat. Most everywhere else at least has a coast, so I can get pretty much everywhere else." Xander shrugged.

"You never know. I might end up outside your weyr one day."

Faith snickered.

"That would be a trip," she said. "Everyone will wonder how the hell you got into the mountains."

"And I love nothing more than to confused people." Xander smirked.

"What are you planning now?" Corey asked as he walked over to them.

"Your imminent doom. Nothing to worry about."

"I was just asking what the eyries are like for ocean dragons," Faith added, smiling a bit. "See if they were any different than the ones back home. You know, aside from them being underwater."

"Not really. But if I show up somehow outside your eyrie, don't be surprised."

Faith got up, stretching.

"I think I'm going to go make sure all my stuff is together," she said. "When did they say we were heading out again?"

"But we could always suggest to leave a big sooner, if you'd like."

"There's no need to rush," Faith replied. "I just figure that I should round up my things now, elsewise I'm likely to forget something."

Corey nodded. "Alright, then." He stretched briefly. "Vyren wanted to go flying around the islands if you want to come."

"Sure," Faith replied. She went over to where Lapis was sprawled out in the sun and nudged her awake.

Up for a flight around the islands for fun? she asked. Lapis seemed to brighten and she nodded.

I like that idea, she replied, getting up and rustling her wings a bit.

Corey chuckled and slid up on Vyren's back easily, waiting for Faith and Lapis before he told Vyren to go. He took off easily, starting to fly around towards the first island.

It didn't take long to get to the first island, and Vyren circled a few times, looking it over. He didn't see anything too interesting down there, so he went on to the next island. There was a chain of five or six of them, so he had no trouble flying around finding things to look at.

Lapis didn't seen anything interesting on the first two islands, but that didn't stop her from circling a few times anyways just to see everything. There was nothing sparkly and shiny that caught her eyes immediately, but she was interested in all of the interesting trees and plants, at least for a few minutes.

Vyren went through all the islands before he started going through them again, really looking at them. He found a couple of fun things, like odd monkeys that jumped through the treetops. He almost caught one, but it got away at the last minute.

Then he moved on again, looking for anything else fun or interesting.
