"Mmhm," Xander agreed, taking a big bite out of the sandwich. "Good," she mumbled.
Corey snickered and shook his head, going to go find Faith.

"I have another if you want it," Ryan offered. He had a feeling she would want it, so he just held on to it for the moment.
Faith was still in the eyrie with Lapis, lounging about with her dragon. She had climbed up onto the dragon's head and was scratching the area around where Lapis' horns were growing in. Lapis was sprawled on the floor of the eyrie limply, purring with her eyes half-closed.

Xander nodded eagerly, finishing off the first sandwich and looking at him for the second. She was hungry, dammit!
Corey hesitated in the doorway, just watching the two for a few moments before he knocked gently on the wall, trying not to disturb them too much.
"How are you doing?" he asked quietly.

Ryan just handed her the second sandwich with a bit of a grin.
"How's your leg holding up?" he asked "I'm sorry about your jeans, but they were kind of ruined anyways."
"This is quite possibly the happiest dragon in the mountain," Faith said as she kept scratching Lapis' head. Lapis was flopped over bonelessly, clearly enjoying herself. "She's like a giant scaly cat."

Xander glanced down at her jeans and shrugged. "Eh. I'll put a patch on them or something. I'll make it work. I don't mind."
She took another huge bite of sandwich before she answered the other question. "Leg hurts, but I can manage."
Corey laughed quietly. "Looks like," he agreed, grinning. "I'll have to try that with Vyren sometime. Looks like fun."

"I only started because she said her head was itchy from her horns growing in," Faith said. "And then she kind of ended up like this." She looked down at her pleased dragon. "Clearly, this is the best way to get her to go boneless."
"I see things like that every so often back home," Ryan said, gesturing to her leg. "When it happens out on the ice, people usually have it taken care of and then rest for a few days. It usually turns out alright after that."

Corey laughed quietly and shook his head. "I can see that. Except now you have a rather large mass of dragon on your floor." He grinned teasingly.
Xander nodded. "I'm not worried. I've had much worse than this before." She grimaced as she shifted her weight. "I'll be fine by tomorrow, probably."

Faith grinned and shrugged.
"It's her floor, she can sprawl where she wants," she said. She stopped scratching Lapis' head, although the dragon didn't immediately get up. Lapis was far too relaxed to move.
"Still, it might do you good to relax for a while," Ryan said. "I'm sure nobody would complain about you taking a day or two to rest."

Corey chuckled and shook his head. "Well, whenever you're ready, dinner will be served pretty soon, I think. And they're doing a campfire thing tonight that we're all supposed to go to."
Xander shrugged. "I'll think about it," she agreed. But she didn't plan to let herself have any time off.

"Campfire?" Faith asked. That was new. "Any idea what for? Or is it just to impress the newcomers?" Getting up, she climbed down from Lapis' neck and slid to the floor. Lapis stretched a little, but stayed sprawled on the floor. She'd get up later, maybe after a nap.
"Alright," Ryan replied. He was doubtful, though. From what he knew about Xander by now, he didn't think she really meant to take it easy.

Corey shrugged. "They didn't say," he said quietly. "Just said it was mandatory." He got the impression it wasn't quite so harmless as to impress the newbies, but he wasn't sure.
Xander glanced over to the side when she saw a few riders piling up wood, obviously getting ready for a big bonfire or something. She quirked an eyebrow but didn't say anything.

"Weird," Faith said. She'd never heard of there being mandatory bonfires before. "You may as well go offer Vyren's services to light the fire," she teased, trying to lighten the mood a bit. "Anyways, you said dinner was soon, so I'm guessing we should head towards the weyr."
Ryan saw them, too, and was a bit puzzled, although he didn't say anything. This wasn't his home weyr, he didn't know what was normal and what wasn't. Maybe something interesting was about to happen. He glanced at Xander.
"It might be a good idea to change into different pants," he suggested. "I doubt blood-covered jeans are appropriate for dinner here."

Corey snorted. "Yeah, he hasn't learned that yet," he said. "Vyren can breathe fire, but it's more like little hiccups. And he hasn't gotten it controlled yet. Nearly singed some poor younger rider once." He couldn't help but snicker.
Xander looked down at herself and blinked. "Yeah. You're probably right. Especially now that they have a huge hole in them, too." She shot him a brief, teasing grin.

Faith couldn't help but giggle.
"They should know better than to get too close," she said. "You know, with the glowing between the scales and all."
Ryan couldn't completely stomp down the beginnings of a blush.
"Yeah, that too," he agreed.

Corey grinned broadly, still amused at the memory.
"You'd think so," he agreed mildly. "But apparently not."
"I'll be back in a few," Xander said, her grin widening when she saw that he was blushing. So she went back to her temporary room to change into something more presentable.

Ryan waited for her to get back, distracting himself by trying to figure out why the weyr was suddenly buzzing with activity. It seemed like something was up, but he had no idea what.
Faith grinned as well, and gestured towards the weyr proper.
"We may as well go see what's going on, then," she said. "Maybe get some good seats for dinner."

Xander glanced over at him when she returned. She'd traded in her shirt too for something sleeveless to go with her dark pants.
"Oi. Ready to go get dinner?" She quirked an eyebrow.
Corey nodded and got up, waiting for her to follow before he went to the dining area, glancing around. The other riders seemed rather confused as well.

"Sure," Ryan nodded, coming back out of his thoughts again. "Hey... is it just me, or do things seem a little tense around here all of a sudden?"
Faith followed him, and looked around as well. It seemed like they weren't the only riders in the dark about things. Oddly, that made her feel a little better. If she wasn't the only one who didn't know something, then maybe there was a chance that NOBODY else knew and that they would all find out soon.

Xander nodded. "I noticed that, too," she murmured, glancing around. "Maybe if we go inside someone will know what's going on." The tension was making her nervous.
Corey glanced over at her before he took a seat, having noticed that they weren't the only ones confused. What was going on?

"Let's go and see if we can find Corey and Faith, then," Ryan suggested. "Maybe they have some idea what's going on." He gestured in the direction of the mess hall, indicating for her to go first.
Faith took a seat next to him.
"I wonder what's about to happen," she commented softly. "You feel it too, right? Everyone's all tense, but nobody seems to know what to expect." After a moment, she added, "maybe the weyrleaders are about to make some sort of announcement?"

"Yeah, I know," Corey said quietly. "I get the same feeling. Hard to say."
He glanced over at the other two when he saw them. "You look better," he said to Xander.
"I'll feel better after dinner," she said, glancing between the two. "You know what's going on?"

"No idea," Faith replied. She moved over a little to make space for Xander and Ryan. "I think we're all in the dark about it. Did you hear anything while you were outside?"
"I didn't," Ryan replied. "I don't know if Xander did or not, but I don't know what's going on, either. We were kind of hoping you would know."
