"Yeah. I know." Corey sighed and shook his head. "Well, we can't do anything about that anymore." He looked briefly upset about that, at least until Vyren crooned at him.
Do not be sad. You have everything you need here. I don't want you to leave. |
Lapis also crooned at her rider. She didn't like it when Faith was unhappy, and she wasn't sure how exactly to comfort her rider when she was upset about missing her parents. Faith absently rubbed around the dragon's growing horns, and Lapis relaxed and started to 'purr.'

Corey relaxed after a little bit longer, leaning back against Vyren and getting comfortable. Vyren settled his wing over his rider, rumbling his approval and settling down himself.

Faith kept rubbing Lapis's head, relaxing herself as her dragon sprawled down. It was almost therapeutic, in a way.
That feels so nice... Lapis mumbled as Faith worked. "I'm sure," Faith replied. |
Corey chuckled as he watched them, smoothing Vyren's wing down, stroking along the membrane and making sure his wings were settled properly. Vyren rumbled appreciatively.

Lapis slowly fell asleep as Faith rubbed her head. When Faith noticed that she was asleep, she stopped what she was doing and slid down to settle next to the dragon. Lapis shifted slightly in her sleep, as if knowing Faith was there, and moved one of her wings to cover her rider.

The next morning, Corey got up earlier than normal, and he and Vyren went up to the lake to take a bath. Well. Vyren was supposed to be taking a bath, and Corey got pulled into it at some point.

Faith slept in a bit, snuggled up to Lapis. She was comfortable there. She woke a bit when Corey and Vyren left the eyrie, but she went back to sleep fairly quickly after that. When she woke later, she would go with Lapis for a bath, but until then, sleep was wonderful.

Corey was surprised to find Xander already up at the lake, looking like she'd been up for hours. She was sprawled across Calypso's stomach, the dragon floating on her back in the water. There was a small hoard of shinies near the shore, and Calypso growled when Vyren poked at them curiously. He shrugged and went into the water instead.

After a while, Faith and Lapis woke up and made their way down to the lake. Lapis woke up a bit more when she saw the pile of shinies, but she knew better than to try to touch anything before it was declared fair game. She waded into the water, splashing a bit of water as she did.

Xander lifted her head to look at them and raised a hand in greeting to Faith before she went back to relaxing. Calypso had threatened to make her stay out on the lake all day to give her time to relax and let her leg heal, so she was cooperating in hopes that she'd get back to dry land soon.
"Hey," Corey called from under one of Vyren's wings, busy cleaning the joints there. "She getting a bath too?" |
"Yeah, it's past time she gets a good scrubbing," Faith replied as she started to climb around on Lapis. She used a bit of pumice stone to scrub down the dragon's scales, working to get all of the dirt off of them. Once she was done, she would have Lapis move to shore so Faith could pick out anything underneath the scales.

Corey nodded and finished with Vyren, making the dragon move to the shore to dry off and so he could check under all his scales. Then, of course, he ended up rubbing the dragon's head and lavishing him with manly attention.

Faith snickered a bit when she saw Corey coddling Vyren the same way she did with Lapis. It didn't surprise her one bit, really. They were all affectionate with their dragons that way. Once she'd gotten to all the places Lapis said had pebbles and such wedged under the scales, she let her dragon do what she wanted for a while. Lapis gleefully went back into the water and sent some of it towards Vyren.

Vyren saw the challenge for what it was and pounced at her, more than happy to go back into the water. Corey snorted and let him, shaking his head at the two.
Calypso grumbled when they started making waves, but she didn't do much else, just checking on her rider to make sure she was still resting and comfortable. |
Faith just rolled her eyes as Lapis started a water fight with Vyren. The two were having so much fun, she wasn't going to stop them for a while. She stayed on the shore, though. She had no desire to get wet.

Corey stayed well away from the water, stretching himself out in the sun to dry off, getting comfortable there. Then he looked up when he heard a yelp.
Xander had gotten wet when the dragons' water war got her. She stood up on Calypso's stomach, starting to attempt to wring her clothes out. She looked kind of like a half-drowned cat, and Corey started laughing. |
Faith couldn't help but laugh a little, as well. That's what you got for sitting on a dragon in the middle of a lake, after all.
"You'll dry," she called out to Xander instead. |
Xander glowered and muttered something to Calypso. The dragon snorted and started back towards shore, still floating with her stomach up.

Lapis ignored them, still splashing Vyren. She was having fun, and it was good to play around after being so worried and tense the day before.
Faith watched as Calypso brought Xander back to shore. Clearly, Xander had had enough of being on the lake for the time being. |
Vyren managed to make a bigger wave than he'd intended, his wings hitting the water with a whomp. He blinked.
Xander hopped off and limped over to the other two riders, grimacing briefly. Her leg had stiffened considerably overnight, which made her a little grumpy. She flopped down in the sun, laying on her back. Ow. Okay, so her leg hurt more than she'd thought it would... |
Lapis paused and blinked as well, before splashing him again. That had been an interesting sound, and she wanted to see if it would happen again. If it did, she wanted to see HOW it happened, so she could try herself. Besides, it was fun to splash Vyren. He steamed.
Faith went and sat down next to Xander on the shore. "I think it's a bit safer here for the moment," she said, referring to the water fight going on. She was fairly sure it would end soon, though, if for no other reason than Calypso getting annoyed at the other two and splashing them into submission. |
Vyren managed to make the whomping noise again, his wings flared and almost cupped. If he could have grinned, he would have. He promptly whomped her several more times, before she had a chance to retaliate. He liked his little discovery.
"I have no doubt of that," Xander said, her voice dry. "I'm just more worried bout getting back to the weyr." She managed to settle her leg into a comfortable position, letting her eyes close. Calypso watched them, mostly submerged but for her eyes. Okay, she saw what Vyren did to create that noise, and she knew how she could replicate it. She swam over to them, her own small wings spreading. Before either of them knew what was going on, she lifted herself out of the water and landed again with a splash bigger than either one could produce. |
Lapis gave a small sound of surprise that was most definitely NOT an undignified squeak as she was tossed by the wave of water from Calypso. Once she managed to right herself and get the water all out of her nose, she splashed back, trying to make the same whomping noise as the other two. It took a couple of tries, but she finally managed it.
"Don't worry about it," Faith replied. "One of us could give you a ride back, if you want. You would just have to make it inside." |
Calypso snorted at them and sank under the water again, managing to grab Vyren's leg under the water. When he let out a sharp sound, she released him, sinking further into the water.
Xander nodded. "Thanks. That would make it much easier." She hated to admit it, but she was in too much pain to refuse the offer. She kind of wanted to go back to bed now. |
