"No problem," Faith replied. She didn't mind helping her friend out.
Lapis thought that was hilarious, and couldn't help but laugh. At least, in her head, where she was capable of it. Even still, she paddled backward a bit, out of immediate range. |
Xander shook her head and couldn't help chuckling, since she knew the other two were about to be shooed out of the lake.
Calypso started nipping at Vyren's heels, and the dragon retreated to dry land very quickly. He grumbled at the ocean dragon, who merely snorted and made sure they were out before going to check on her rider. |
Lapis made her way to dry land before she could be nipped at. She was about ready to dry off, anyways, so she wasn't upset at being chased out of the lake. Going back to shore, she shook herself off and went over to where her rider was waiting.
Faith stayed well out of the way as her dragon shook off the water, and only let her get closer once she wasn't dripping anymore. "We're giving Xander a ride back to the weyr so she doesn't have to walk the whole way," she said. Lapis considered this for a moment, as if weighing it against the last time she had Xander as a passenger, and then nodded. If it was only to the weyr, then it was alright with her. |
Calypso, meanwhile, had moved up close to shore, extending her head out next to Xander to keep track of her rider. Xander was relaxed, leaning against the dragon and looking half-asleep.
Corey chuckled. "We could take her, if you prefer," he offered, looking at Faith and Lapis. Vyren didn't mind. |
Faith glanced at Lapis, mentally conferring with her. After a moment, she shrugged.
"Either way, we don't mind," she said. "Up to Xander, really." She glanced at her friend. "If she wakes up." |
"I'm awake," Xander said, glancing over at them. "I'm awake. Just tired." She yawned briefly, getting comfortable.
Vyren snorted, and Corey just rolled his eyes. "Yeah, yeah." He went over to look at Xander, and she waved him off. "Looks like you might have to carry her back." Xander scowled at him. |
Faith grinned a bit and rolled her eyes.
"Well, let's figure out how to get you back to the weyr," Faith said to Xander. "Then you can go nap all you like." |
Xander nodded and got up with Calypso's help. "Well, as long as I can just kinda sit somewhere, I should be okay." She managed to limp over to Faith and Lapis.
Corey shook his head, muttering something about stubborn women, and waited for Vyren to dry off a little more. Besides, that way he could help in case Xander couldn't get up on her own. |
Faith helped Xander over to Lapis, and Lapis held still as Faith and Xander slowly made their way up onto her back. Lapis was really putting on some size, now, and was a massive creature, so it took a little time to get Xander up her side without incident.
|
Once Xander was up on the dragon, she was more than happy to just slump there and hold on. That had not been pleasant. And she had to do it all over again to get down.
She was seriously starting to consider just locking herself in her room for the next few days while she healed. |
Once Xander was settled, Faith gave Lapis the signal to take off. Lapis did so, doing her best not to jar her passengers at all, and headed back towards the weyr.
Not to the eyrie yet, sweetling, Faith added, when the dragon automatically went towards her eyrie. Why not? We shouldn't make Xander try to climb the ladder up the side of the mountain to get back to the weyr. Alright... Tilting a little, Lapis went towards the weyr proper instead. Once she got there, she landed and crouched down low so the two could slide down. Faith did so without a problem, and then paused once she got to the bottom. "Lapis, do you think you could reach back and pick up Xander? Really gently, so it doesn't hurt her? It might be easier for you to get her closer to the ground so she can just step off, rather than having to climb down." The dragon nodded, and reached back, then waited for Xander to step onto her claw. |
Xander managed to hop off carefully, holding on to the dragon until she felt settled on her claw. The trip down was thankfully short, and then she got off, her nerves just a little rattled.
"Thank you, Lapis," she said, looking at the dragon. "I'll have Calypso find you something for your kindness." She even managed to smile at the dragon. In her experience, it was always good to pay someone back for some kindness. In case she ever needed their help again. "And I can find something for you, too, Faith." |
"We don't mind helping," Faith protested. She didn't mind lending a hand to a friend, and she'd always been taught that people always appreciated kind actions. Lapis glanced down at her, though, and she could feel her dragon's desire for more pretty things. She sighed. Oh fine.
She couldn't deny Lapis anything for all that long. |
Xander grinned briefly and nodded, already planning on getting Caypso to get them pretty things. She didn't mind, and she knew Calypso wouldn't mind either.
"Alright, I'll see you at dinner. I'm going to go crash until then." |
Faith nodded.
"Alright, go ahead and get some sleep or something," she said. "Lapis and I might go on a flight around the mountain or something." She knew better than to try to get out to the city again, but she wanted to go SOMEWHERE, so around the mountain was it. |
Xander nodded. "Alright. Well, have fun. I'll let you know when Calypso has something new for you, okay?"
She managed a tired smile. She was going to go pass out now. |
Faith nodded again.
"Alright," she replied. She made a shooing motion with her hands. "Go collapse." |
Xander grinned and waved before going back to her room to collapse.
Vyren and Corey were just leaving the lake, planning to go down the mountain for a little trip. Vyren wanted something big for dinner, and Corey was inclined to let him go hunting. |
Faith went back outside to Lapis and climbed up the dragon's back. It was much easier when she wasn't trying to pull someone else up with her.
"Want to see if Corey and Vyren want to go with us?" she asked as Lapis spread her wings. Alright, Lapis replied. Maybe Vyren knows some good spots on the mountain for hunting. "Maybe," Faith replied. She was more looking forward to spending some time with Corey, but whatever made Lapis happy was good too. |
Vyren took off, circling around the mountain a few times. He spotted Faith and Lapis and wheeled over to go in their direction.
I am going hunting, he told Lapis. Do you wish to come? |
I was going to ask if you were going, Lapis replied as Vyren got closer. You seem to know some of the good spots.
|
Vyren hummed with pleasure at the compliment.
I can show you if you wish it. I was going to look for deer, perhaps. |
I would like that, Lapis replied. Deer sound good. She wheeled around a bit so she was following Vyren. Deer were delicious, and didn't have things like scales or feathers to get in the way of the meat.
|
Vyren led the way down the mountain to a good, lightly forested area where he knew they could get good deer. Corey stayed relaxed, letting Vyren do all the work, scaring out a small herd of deer from the trees.
|
Faith had to hold on as Lapis dove down to snatch up one of the deer, but at least she didn't have to give her dragon any directions.
Lapis was right, though. Vyren knew the best hunting spots. |
