"The Quest for an Apprentice"

It is the 21st century, magic slowly faded away, it was hidden from the world. But those many years ago that it was known, it was said that evil forces tried to conceal it for themselves. They wanted to rule the world and everything with it. But, what would happen if one Wizard, still known to others as someone else like a Shop Seller. What would happen if he was back into magic and needed an apprentice? Find out and we'll see where this story shall lead us. :O

A store, about the size of a small shop, had appeared almost like magic in a small town like city. Being that said, the owner was known to be odd, he sold everything magic related though almost everyone thought it was just a hoax.

He himself considers it and reassures others that it is not. The children of this century have been so occupied with new developments like cell phones and game systems, that the world had ignored magic fully since they couldn't explain it.

The young man wandered around his shop cleaning things up, making things look presentable. He himself didn't look like he was much different from others. And as the students rolled in, this young man looked for an apprentice, even though he hadn't found one, he wasn't about to give up so easily.

Vivi, yeah his parents picked a weird name, is walking around with some of his friends when they happen upon the weird little store that appeared out of nowhere it seemed. His friends have no interest in the store, even though he does try to convince them to go in. “Nah, that shit isn’t really anyway. It’s some trick we can google at home if we really want to. It’s all fake.” That’s what one of his friends says….which the rest agree with essentially, which he argues against. “Magic is everywhere. We just don’t realize it because science has found an alternative reason.” He does play too many video games, but that fed his love of fantasy and the hope that it could possibly be real.

So the group splits up. Vivi then walks into the store. He’s of medium height and normal weight due to certain fattening foods. He has short choppy black hair and amber eyes. Which always gets him weird looks because they creep people out sometimes. And so, he starts looking at what there is to look at in the store.

The Owner see the boy walk into the store, the little bell goes off sounding the entrance "Ah welcome, welcome, is there anything I can do for you?" The owner asked sweeping up the store with a simple, yet, old broom. He had pale blonde hair which was almost white, his bright silver eyes shined under the light in the room yet there seemed to be no lamp with a bulb around to create it.

Walking over to the boy he looked at him "Quite interesting eyes, they tell quite a story wouldn't they" the man spoke being friendly and walked back to the counter putting more things away. The store had 6 rows of book cases, three on each side, 3 stacks containing books, 3 stacks containg items that were usable. The walls were covered in items people would consider junk and the sign out front said "Magical Wonders"

“Ah…nothing in particular. I’m just looking, thank you.” Vivi was taught to be at least somewhat polite to people. He blinks kind of confused at the owner’s words. In his mind, eyes only tell hints of the story, but never enough to be satisfied….if they’re interesting, that is. And some eyes, tell no story at all. And so he starts looking through the items, touching them of course. It’s human nature to touch everything almost. “Why did you open a store like this? I….can’t really see anyone around here being too seriously interested in these items…” He doesn’t mean to be rude, but it’s the truth. “Though they are interesting.” He’s getting quieter as he goes since he thinks the other maybe be thinking he's just a rude teenager.

"I've had this shop open for quite so many years, the antiques and items, if it doesn't suit the people around here, then thats their businees, but, sooner or later someone will show some interest." The owner spoke as he wondered why a kid like Vivi of all people would be interested in his store and decided to put it to the test. "I have some cool rings up here, each a different meaning than the rest" the owner added, he had most of the jewelry up at the shop counter where you check out at. There were rings that looked like snakes, lizards, yen/yang styles, animals, mythical creatures, and so many more. But only one of them stood out from the rest, it was a silver dragon looking ring and it shown out as if brand new.

“Well….I was just saying….if you’re here to make money….I don’t think that would work too well around here.” Vivi is just stating the truth again. He’s actually kind of surprised there aren’t some Christians, or something, out there protesting this place. Or maybe they too have given up on the idea of people practicing magic and the like.

Once the owner mentions rings, Vivi kind of trots up there to stare at the rings. And, of course, the one Vivi focuses on the dragon ring. He’s always liked dragons. “What’s this one mean then?” He gestures to the silver dragon ring. “I dunno if it was April fools or whatever, but animal planet had a special saying they had found a skeleton of a dragon.” It’s obvious that he hopes it was real and not an April fool’s joke by Animal Planet.

"Well I am actually just here to see who will come in, I'm looking for more people who likes the things in here. I don't need the money, it would be useful to get more things but other than that, I just do this for the love of it" He spoke simply fixing his small reading glasses.

"I don't watch television, I'm not a fan of it really. I have enough work here to keep me busy, but, this ring here. Its very special, it is a type of ring that if it likes you, you can keep it" he spoke knowing what he said sounded unbelievable to most if they caught onto it. "The dragon stands for many different things all over the place, but, the most common one to speak of is, in alcamy the dragon refered to some unexpected influence or result. Also strength and loyalty to be more specific. This will stand for loyalty and belief more than the average dragon symbols" he answered waiting to see if the boy would pick it up.

“But….you still need to make enough money for supplies and property tax….and food.” Not that Vivi has a problem with him doing what he does because he loves. “It’s great to do something you love to do….but food is essential.”

“Eh…to each their own.” Vivi likes television. It sometimes has some interesting things on, like a lot of the things on the history channel about the Templars and other things. He freezes for a moment before giving the other this weird look. He heard that part about if it likes you. “Why more than the average?” It’s not like he’d know why as he picks up the ring. It’s shiny. It’s a dragon. What more does he need to want to touch it?

(I wish I could have a pet dragon :3 No one would ever think of stealing anything of mine anymore. :3 )

(lol I would like it if it would be small pet sized and it could expand its size to be like a real dragon almost, just to fly on its back)

"I have enough food in the back to last me for a couple months, if I need food, its pretty cheap, not as cheap as the older days though" he mused to himself thinking. "We'll see" after a moment nothing happened but as the seconds passed as the boy looked at the ring. It came to life in his hand and shook its head like it was waking up from after awhile. It looked at him for a brief moment and then went to his ring finger, not the wedding ring one, the other one and circled around it turning back into a ring that wouldn't come off but wasn't too tight. "Ah so it does like you" his eyes lit up, finally he had found the one to be his apprentice.

“Hopefully that isn’t enough for the rest of your life.” Hey, people die young all the time. Usually in accidents, but sometimes not. “Food is expensive depending on what you want.” No meat is cheap…except maybe ground beef. Maybe.

As the ring starts moving, Vivi’s eyes go wider than it seemed possible. He makes this very strange noise as it attaches to his finger. And then he just stares, still freaking out internally. Once he calms down, “You should….really warn people that when you say “like” you mean the ring moves and attaches to the finger and scares the hell out of you…” He’s watching that ring still….thinking it might bite him or something. It is dragonish…why wouldn’t it be able to bite?

(I just want him to be big enough to light people on fire if need be....or scare them at least .-. )

(lol I would love to have one that is little and spits out fire balls so they don't think to take it seriously)

The owner laughed some "I did not know of what it would do, it hasn't been active for centuries" he spoke adding "My name is Eric Williams and what is your name?" he was curious know to what name the dragon chose the matching character to. There wasn't a rush in reasons for him to become the apprentice but he would like to know the simple things, after a moment watching him he added "I do not believe it would bite you" he laughed some.

“Well…now you know…warn people about this stuff.” Vivi is still watching the ring. “Ah….I’m Vivi Orunitia.” You know, maybe he shouldn’t have told the man with the MOVING RING what his name was. Moving rings doesn’t bare well for his sanity/safety. Vivi gives him a flat look at the last part. “And I didn’t believe rings could move until now. And you didn’t even know what it was gonna do! So how do you know it doesn’t bite?” He’s got a point there.

(lol just realised that, I'm slow atm :P but nice, I like it though. I'm using the name Eric from true blood, eric northman the vampire)

"Good point, but, its chosen you, so I cannot see it disliking you after it chose" Eric replied and looked at the boy but turned around "Come on, let me show you a pet of mine" he spoke, he had alot of things in front of the store but in the back it was like a museum of old things yet to come. There were fossils moving around, dishes cleaning themselves, and even some winged creatures that were odd flying amognst the room.

"Somethings don't bite because they hate you. Parrots do it because it's how they explore the world." Vivi eyeballs Eric as he heads into the back. "I'm gonna get eaten by something." He says underneath his breath. He feels it coming. Something is going to eat him...and he hopes he gives it indigestion. He watches the dishes washing himself. "Now that, I definintly do not mind." That would save a lot of time....and freak out is parents out the same time. But then he sees fossils moving. He's not too big on dead things moving and so he stay very close to Eric, watching them move. Of course he gets distracted by the weird flying things, but if they leave him alone, he's good. Long as nothing lands on his head.

"As long as you do not make the harpies angry, I believe you will be fine" Eric spoke leading the way and soon stopped. "These are my pets, the harpies are a favorite of course, but, this little guy still needs a home. To us he looks like baby dragon when he hatches, to others he has the illusion of a small dog" Eric spoke picking up an egg nearby under a heating lamp and showing it to the boy. (look below I have to check on my bro)

"Believe me, I plan on leaving them alone." Vivi will let them do them while he does him. "Dragon." He says in one of those weird excited like voices. It's obvious by his face that he's happy and excited by that. "Now....what about when he gets bigger?" If he gets the size of the mythological dragons...."Because if he gets way big like in myths....the only good dog disguise would be as a certain big red bloodhound." Clifford, the big red dog. Dragon egg? Doesn't freak him out as much as moving ring. Go figure.

(my brother is 36 so I don't have to check on him : D but when he's home, he calls me a lot to get him food....which he also gets me food :3 )

(lol I'm the oldest, I have two bros at the house right now, one about to be 3 and the other about to be 16 :P)

"Actually it only changes into that form when there is danger and you need to get out of it." The egg was about the size of a human little boy head. Not that big but it was quite warm from being under the magic heating lamp. "It needs alot of care to take to it, so I would appreciate it if you would care for it." He should offer the placement of being an apprentice. "I have something to ask of you"

"....really? Interesting." Vivi is currently staring at the little bones and all that he can see due to the lamp and all. It makes him think of those see through fish where you can see their bones and organs. He finds it fascinating. He just looks up at Eric with his head tilted a bit at the question. Of course he'll help with a dragon. IT IS A DRAGON! Why wouldn't he want to help? It's a DRAGON! "Eh? What's that?" He doesn't mind helping people and all, but considering there are harpies and dragon eggs...he's kind of wary of what Eric might want.

(There's me...and my brother. That's it. And I'm glad I don't have a three year old sibling .-. )

(lol I'm fine with my little one but the one next to me is annoying XD)

"If I asked you to be my apprentice, would you accept it and all that comes with it?" not like the boy had a choice but he wouldn't tell him that. "Of course either way you can keep the egg and the ring"

(When its late around now, I have the little bro trying to sleep and that means little writing for a bit)

"Uh....what exactly comes with this apprentice thing?" If it means feeding harpies....he's not too big on it, though Vivi would take his chances feeding dragon, but he likes dragons so it doesn't count. If he finds out he doesn't have a choice, he'll be very displeased, also known as angry. But he doesn't for now at least so Eric is safe. But for how long?

"Everything" Eric sspoke "Magic and non magic, mostly magical things." Eric added waiting.

Vivi just gives him this flat look. That's not the answer he wanted. He wants more details than that. "Why do I have the feeling if I said no....it wouldn't matter?" He just has this little feeling that his answer probably doesn't matter either way. Especially considering rings can move and attach to his finger.

Eric shrugged "That answer is something I believe its not much for me to say, though if not me who then" he created a riddle. "That ring chose you, you are a decendent of the famous Nicholas Flamel the alchemist, only the ring would do that to a blood line tied decendent" Eric spoke adding in more information.

"I'm going with....that's a yes. That actually I have no choice in a way...." Vivi just nods a bit. "And how in the world am I a descendant of him?" All he knows is Harry Potter type stuff. The parts that are fiction...or considered fiction at least. "And then what are you in all this?" He wants answers before he gives his. Though....it's going to be yes....only because this is the time he had day dreams....alright actually it was of him getting a hogwarts letter, but close enough for him.

"You have more of one than most though, but would you give up something as grand as this?" he motioned to all the magical things around him that came to life or were coming to life. "I was a wizard studying under Nicholas Flamel, he was my teacher" he also used to like his teacher alot, not just the magical part, but soon Nicholas did find a mate, he couldn't remember her name right off the bat, but, she was an esquisite young lady who was a sorcerer. "It wasn't that long ago but I am just here to find an apprentice of my own, and who better than the decendent of Nicholas and Perrywinkle Flamel?" he asked remembering the woman's name.
