Kara grinned "eventually. Especially if we decide to really get serious. At the risk of sounding creepy, I'm likely to kill you if I ever have to bring your child into existence. I'm also likely to kill you if you break my heart... you just can't win. If you love me, I'll kill you, if you break my heart I'll kill you. There's just no winning with me. I hope you enjoy loving a murderer" she teased.
Frost looked at her seriously now. "I hope you can."
Kara paused as she worked through what he meant, and then she remembered. She put down what was in her hands and pulled him into an embrace "sweetheart... I don't know the details of why you did that... but I know you well enough to know that you had a reason. I love you for who you are... not for who you were" she whispered. She held the embrace for a bit longer before she pulled away and planted her lips on his. That was short lived, however, as the door opened. "Hey guys... oh... sorry... I'll just get out of your way" Aden apologized and grabbed what he needed before leaving. Kara couldn't help but smile in amusement as Aden left. "You know... it's a good thing I have wings... you're too tall" she teased and pulled him in for another kiss.
Frost hugged her back, truely happy that she could overlook his one big sin. He smiled and kissed her back. He couldn't help but chuckle with her as Aden caught them. He kissed her again after he left, then looked at her kindly. "We should go help out there, shouldn't we?"
Kara inhaled his scent once more and then nodded "probably... every collection is worse than the first because they don't allow the pixies to grow and reproduce. The population gets smaller and smaller with each collection, which means people are effected a lot more than before. Come on" she agreed and pulled Frost out into the common room. "You know... the kitchen is for food... not making out" Aden tease "oh, like you and your fiancee never made out in there" Kara shot back. Aden turned red "well... we were always working!" he retorted. Kara scoffed "y8eah right. I've walked in on you two more than once, unfortunately. Frost and I were working. Our conversation changed for a moment, though. Hush up" she retorted and moved over to a young pixie that was crying.
Frost chuckled at the little spat those two had, then moved over to the same man he'd talked to before. "Sir. I'd like to talk to you, if you don't mind."
The pixie looked up and smiled softly "I remember you. You gave me lunch. So kind. What would you like to speak to me about?" he asked, his voice hoarse from emotion.
Frost looked at this man for a little bit, trying to decide if he wished to have revenge on those who took his daughter. "I need your help. Could you take something to someone for me? I have an address and everything." He was going to send a note to Flare.
The pixie hesitated "pixies aren't allowed in the city... but I would be happy to do whatever you want me to" he finally answered. This young fairy had been kind to him in his time of need. He'd listened to him when he spoke about his daughter. He would do anything.
Frost thought about that one for a moment, then he smiled. "I can make it so nobody sees you except my kin. Would you go then?"
The pixie swallowed down his nerves, but nodded nonetheless "yes sir... I will help you" he agreed.
Frost looked at him and knelt in front of the smaller man. "Look. I don't want you going in there without knowing why. We're going to try and make it illegal to hunt pixies. My sister is no bigger than you are. She has no wings and she is the height of a 10 year old fairy. We're going to talk to her about using her as an example to compare fairies and pixies. That way, it'd be illegal to harm pixies, since they'd be recognized as just another form of fairy. Nobody else would end up like your daughter."
The pixie's eyes filled with tears "thank you, sir. I will gladly do this task you have given me" he agreed, his heart bursting with emotion over the possibility of the collections coming to an end!
Frost smiled and gently took his hands. He didn't like getting people's hopes up if there was a chance it would fail. "Thats what I'd like you to tell my sister, Flare." He took out a piece of paper and wrote the address. "Here." He placed it in the pixie's hands, then touched his forehead. "You will now be invisible to everyone but my sister and brother."
The pixie gulped but then nodded, setting off for the city. The journey wasn't long... well... once he reached the city, that is. Once outside the gates, he paused, sneaking past one of the guards. Glad to know that he wasn't visible, he smiled and began searching for the home. Ah! There it was. The pixie walked up to the door and knocked, waiting for an answer.
Flare looked up from her book and walked to the door. The only people that came here were Frost and Void...and they didn't knock. She opened the door, ready to defend herself, then saw the pixie. "Yes?"
The pixie swallowed "Miss Flare? I'm... um... Frost sent me. Um... I think he would like to speak to you. He's in the pixie colony. They're planning on outlawing the killing of pixies... since you can compare in appearance to a pixie, I think he would like to talk to you about that" the pixie answered.
Flare eyed him for a moment, then walked out the front door and held out her hand. "Proof." She needed to know that he was truely from Frost. It sounded like him, but she had to be sure.
What? Proof!? All he had was an address!!! Wait... "I... I only have this, Miss" he said as he held out the piece of paper that had her address written on it. Hopefully that'd be enough.
Flare saw the paper. Yep, that was Frost's handwritting. She suddenly smiled and nodded. "If you'll take me to him, I'll go."
It worked!! The pixie smiled and nodded "this way, it's not far. It's to the west of the city" he explained and began leading the small fairy away. She really was no bigger than he was. "I'm Everest" he introduced. Yes, he was the sociable type, to anyone that would listen to him. He was young and now no longer had a family. His wife had been taken in the collection after their daughter was born and his baby... she was gone now. But the colony was his family. Pixie support was always around inspiring hope among them. To hear that that collection would be the last... it filled his heart with joy.
Flare smiled at the pixie. It had been only the second time she'd ever met one. It was weird to her. Finding someone full grown but was still her size. She nodded to him. "Hello, Everest. I'm Flare."
Everest smiled widely "have you always been this tall? If you weren't related to the Fairy, I'd say you had pixie blood in you. That's a compliment, you know. I think you're very pretty" he told her as they made their journey. Soon enough, though, they made it to the colony. Everest led her to the kitchen and spotted Frost. "I brought her, like you asked. You never told me she was so pretty, though!" he commented. The comment caught Flare's attention. She looked between Frost, Flare, and Everest and smiled softly before she left so she could check on Sweet Pea.
Flare nodded slightly. "Yes, I have." Then she smiled a little at the compliment, not really knowing how to take it but as such. She looked a little shy after that, it didn't take much to get her all quiet. The only people that'd ever called her pretty were her brothers. It was a strange feeling for her. Frost looked down as they came in and he smiled at Flare. "See! I told you we weren't lying." He chuckled softly and squatted in front of them. "So, Flare, what do you say? Will you help?" Flare nodded slightly and glanced at the man that was standing beside her.
Everest smiled widely, the largest he's smiled since his baby was born. "Thank you!" he cheered and pulled her into a large hug, kissing her on both cheeks. It was a pixie custom when greeting or thanking a friend. With her help, maybe the government would listen to the pleas of the pixies and pixie support and finally outlaw the massacre of pixies!
