Name Alana
Age 17
Height in human form 5ft
Bio Alana has lived near the seaside town her entire life always coached by her mother to keep out of sight. Never to be seen by humans, of course they always caught small glimpses of her. After her mother died when she was fourteen she had still never talked to anyone never had even set foot on land. It was only a fluke an accident that had her washed up on shore, needless to say she was shocked when her fin turned into two long legs. After that, even though she walked around naked, she had clothes, she spent all the time she could on land getting used to her legs. But still she kept away from the people. It wasn't until she was sixteen after two years of walking the beaches naked that a woman finally talked to her, it was to yell at her of course. But seeing how little Alana knew about anything, she just thought she was either dull or ship wreaked and took pity on her. Clothing her and teaching her things about the town. Still Alana felt like an outsider and she limited her talks with people lest they figure out what she was.

Alana lay on her back in the middle of a rock sunning herself, just watching the clouds float by lazily, her fingertips trailed through the water tempting fish swimming by to nibble on them. She sat up dipping her feet in the water, as long as most of her stayed dry then her feet wouldn’t turn back into fins, it was unfortunate if that happened on land because the humans could catch her. She didn’t want to think about what they would do if they discovered a mermaid among them, but even though she risked it going on land she couldn’t help herself humans were the only thing she had to talk to now that her mother was gone, and now that she thought about it a fair was happening in town today. Diving into the water she swam towards her private beach where a dress and shoes were hidden for her. It wasn’t until she was a good way out of the water that her blue fin turned into long slender human legs, finding her dress she tugged it on, it was a pale blue dress that brought out her eyes nicely. At least that’s what Martha said, Martha was the older woman who had taken quite a shine to Alana, even going so far as to let her stay with her. She hopped in place as she tugged on her other boot, Martha was waiting at her house for Alana to show up. Together they went to the fair chatting amiably pointing out all the interesting things that were happening. Martha kept trying to drag the smaller woman to a stand holding ribbons and accessories while Alana tried to pull her towards where all the animals were. Overall it was a rather fun day

Mason walked down a beathen path towards a village that layed next to the ocean. He could smell the fish and ocean as he walked and he smiled. So far he had found out that no one this far from his home had heard anything of him or his family. It ment that he could possibly stay here for a little while longer then he had in the last. A shiver ran up his spine and the scar that ran across his chest thorbbed slightly. When they had found out he had nearly lost his life to them. If he hadn't had animal reflexes and speed he was sure that he would be dead right now. He would be with his parents then. Sadness crept into him but he shoved it aside when he caught a glips of the village. It looked homey and he could tell that osme sort of celebration was being held. He smiled and started to move closer to it. After a few minutes he was there but like always people stayed away from him or stared. He was different, he knew that. His skin was slightly darker from being out in the sun for long periods of him and his blonde hair stood out. But as he walked he heard them mummbling about his clothing habits. He looked down and sighed. The only thing that he ever wore were shorts. They were easy to move around in and shirts always ripped when he shifted. He also heard thing about his scar and other things but he slowly tuned them out. He didn't care what they had to say, he just had to stay a good distance from people, live here for a little while, gather supplies and then get out. That was his plan and he didn't dare stray from it.

”You know honey you have such light blonde hair it takes a bluish tinge sometimes, if only you would let me dress you up I could make you look like a little doll” this was something Martha said often especially when they were around such pretty outfits, but Alana always laughed it off. Martha was a widow having lost her husband and son in a fire. She took all that motherly love and lavished it on Alana treating the young woman like her own daughter. ”Martha you always want to do that, but you do so much for me already I couldn’t possibly accept anything else” Alana tugged or at least tried to tug Martha away from the booth, but it wasn’t going well. Martha laughed and held her ground, leaning down to look at a red ribbon talking in a low voice to the seller. Alana was trying to dissuade her once more when the crowd parted, walking through the center was a tall young man with darkly tanned skin that contrasted nicely with his blonde hair. There was something about him that was predatory it’s why everyone gave him a wide birth. Even Alana took a step back from him unconsciously, he had air about him he moved liked a hunter, silent and stealthy. Everyone who looked at him knew there was something different about him.

Mason walked and coudl hear everyone murmuring behind him. But he didn't care, he had to keep on moving, there was never time to stop and enjoy his time someplace. Yet as he passed by a girl he smelled something, water and fish. The sent was nearly strong enough to make him stop and take a look. But he continued on his way and figured she was a fishermans wife or daughter. What ever it was it wans't of his concern. His only conern was to find a place to sleep for the night. He had a feeling that if he stayed in this festival to long that no one was going to enjoy it. Just by how they parted for him was clear enough that they knew he wasn't normal. After a little while the crowd started to thin down and he soon found himself on the shore of the beat. Smiling to himself he stood there and took in the smell and sounds of the ocean. It was so peacefull compared to the jungel. In the jungel it is a fight for survival and here everything seemed to relaxed. Slowly he sat down and made himself comfortable in the sand as he watched the waves. For now he would let the villagers have there fun but tomorrow he would make his rounds and gather what he needed.

The festival was finally starting to wind down and Martha handed Alana a new dress she had bought for her despite Alana’s refusals, Martha never thought anything of buying something new for Alana, though it always made the girl feel guilty, Martha already fed and clothed her and though Alana did work around Martha’s house, all the things the older woman couldn’t do anymore she still felt like she owed her. ”Martha you do too much for me already, why don’t you wear it instead” she said fingering the pretty dress, a red and black dress with a matching red and black hair piece. Martha thought it would set off against her pale hair beautifully. ”Honey you know I could never pull off that dress it was made for you” Martha laughed and patted Alana’s cheek. ”Honey I wish you would sleep at my house I worry about you, your off on your own far too much” Alana smiled hoping to reassure the older woman. ”I’ll be fine you worry much too much” kissing the older woman’s cheek Alana bid her goodbye and made her way down the worn path towards what she liked to think of as her own private beach. It was well away from the town and no one ever came there, its why she liked it so much. So needless to say she was more than shocked when she saw the man sitting on her beach, that she quite literally stopped in her tracks.

Mason smiled as he watched the waves and didn't even hear anyone coming down the path. He was in his own little world, one where he could just relax and be himself. When he saw a crab some up onto the beach his cat side got the better of him and he slowly got onto his hands and knees. As the crab moves more he smiled and crouched low to the ground. After a few minute he sprung and trapped the crab in his hands. Smileing he picked it up and watched as it tried to pinch him. "you know you look weird but you probably taste really good." he said and licked his lips. He then spotte feet out of the corner of his eyes and looke over at the path. Right away he froze when he saw the girl that smelled oc the ocean and wonere if she would do something. He probably looked like a savage and to her probably was one but he just hoped she didn't try anything. He then wondered if she had heard anything about him and his family. If she had he woul be dead soon.

Alana watched as the man from the fair, the one everyone had given a wide birth sat on her beach. Her beach the one she thought no one came to, the one she thought was private. Right now though he was doing something odd he looked like an overgrown house cat down on all fours stalking a poor defenseless crab. Okay so the crab wasn’t defenseless and it was kind of funny when he pounced on it and the crab tried its best to pinch his nose off. She couldn’t keep the small smile off her face as she watched him, who would have thought a big man like him could talk to a crab. ”He’s not weird looking, he’s a crab and yes they are tasty” an odd look passed over his face almost as if he either wanted to attack her, or he was guilty of something. ”Um, my name is Alana… what’s yours?” honestly she felt silly for even asking but she didn’t know what else to say. She had never really talked to many guys before; she figured it was just because they were uncomfortable around her. Like they could sense something was different.

Mason was surprised when he heard her and watched her carefully. She didn't look like she was afraid of him so he slowly calmed down and smiled, "well I have never seen a crab before so It looks weird to me." he said as he looked at her and then back at the crab. "and I think I am going to cook it. I love to taste new foods." he said as he licked his lips again and had to force himself not to bite into the crab right then. When he heard her he smiled at her, he couldn't remember the last time someone gave him there name or acted nice to him. "it is nice to met you, I am Mason." he said as he smiled at her and then looked back at the village, "so what was the festival for? and sorry if I stopped it. I am just kind of passing threw." he said as he looked at her.

[b]Well it’s nice to meet you Manson, don’t worry about the festival everyone had a wonderful time. The festival was just a summer one everyone selling wares and celebrating a good harvest” Alana shrugged setting aside the dress on a rock where no sand could touch it, she didn’t want to ruin anything Martha gave to her. Taking off her shoes she walked out onto the beach barefoot taking a seat beside him and the struggling crab. ”Yes they taste delicious cooked I could help you, but only one is not a meal how about we collect more?” she asked poking the small crab. ”We could collect them in a bucket collect a few more and make a real meal out of them. Even add some fish to it if you like to go fishing” she laughed as the crab snapped at her. It was a surprise that she felt at ease enough around this man of all men where she could offer to help him cook up some crabs.

Mason nodded, "i remember when I use to go to those festivals back home." he said and frowned as he thought of his parents. The villagers had been nice to them then. Now everything was different, if anyone found out about him he would be dead and hr didn't want to die so soon. He then watched her carefully put the dress she had down and smiled when she sat down next to him. He then nodded, "that sounds great, I dint remember the last time I had a meal with someone." he said as he smiled at her and couldn't believe how relaxed he fekt around her. Something about her felt rigt, maybe it was the natural smell of the ocean on herthat calmed him. What ever it was he was glad he had someone to talk to. "and I know I can catch more crabs ans fish. I am great when it comes to hunting." he said as he looked at her.

”Awesome how about you go catch some fish and I get the crabs” she didn’t want to go in the water lest he see something like a fin that he shouldn’t. Who knows what would happen then. ”Now go on I’ll see about getting a fire started” getting up she gave him a little nudge towards the water before turning to go off and find the firewood needed to help cook their tasty catch. The only person she felt so comfortable around was Martha, maybe it was because he was so obviously an outcast like her that made her so comfortable. Alana hummed a soft tune to herself as she put the crab he caught in a bucket, there was driftwood all over the beach that would burn nicely and soon enough she had a fire going. Now it was time to go crab hunting. The crabs were easy to find, they were all over the place soon enough she had a pile of freshly caught crabs in her bucket. Just thinking of them cooked made her mouth water. She looked out over the water trying to find Mason. There was just something about him that was different like her, she wondered what he would do if she showed him just how different she was.

Mason smiled when he heard her and nodded, "okay, that seems fair." he said and smirked when she nudged him towards the water. Slowly he got uo and headed into the water. It wasn't to cold and for a second he just stood there, enjoying thr feel of the water. He then noticed thr perfect Rock to it on to catch fish. Slowly he made his way over there and quickly got onto the rock. He crouched on there for a long time and watchedthe water. He had to force himself to stay in his human form. Of she saw him change at all he would be as good as dead here. Yet when a fish came close he couldn't help but feel his claws come out as he reached into the water and caught the fish. Smiling he held it up and studied it. It was a good sized and all he would need it another. After a fee more minutes he got another one and headed back to shore. "two fish right from the ocean." he said as he lookedt her and smiled as he held up thefish.

Alana finally spotted him on a rock a fish already beside him, looking in the bucket she counted six crabs that should be more than enough for him. Mason soon returned to shore two good sized fish in his hands ”and the promised hunter returns” she teased with a laugh taking the fish from him and spearing them on a two sticks and setting them over the fire. ”These are some good looking fish Mason good job” she praised him leaving her crabs in the bucket filled with water she set that over the fire to let them boil. It was the only way she knew how to cook them. ”Mason I know we just met but I’m curious where are you from?” she had never been anywhere but where she had been born and was always curious about new places. Her mother had told her to never go all that far from the ocean, otherwise she would have traveled all over this land. But she didn’t know what would happen if she was away from the water for more than a day or two.

Mason smirked when he heard her and couldn't believe how relaxed he was around her. He felt like he had known her all his life instead of just a few minutes. He then smiled as he watched her stick the fish over the fire, "well I have to be a good hunter if I want to survive. I always make sure to get good looking food that will keep me alive." he said without much though. He had to eat a lot of food if he wnated to survie out in the wild while running away from the hunters that were after him. Plopping down onto the sand next to the fire he watched as the food booked and smiled as he watched the crabs boil. "I am from far away, I use to live near a village in the middle of the forest with my parents. Everything was great but things happend and I found myself alone and wondering. I have been to many places as traveled around." he said as he looked at her and was surprised at how easy it was to tell her these things.

”Must be nice to see all the new things that you do traveling as you do and all” Alana shrugged turning the stick with the spited fish on it. ”Me on the other hand I’ve lived here my whole life, I’ve never been anywhere new never even been to a different town. This town these waters are all I know. My mother died a few years ago I never knew who my father was my mother didn’t mention him. Martha sort of adopted me though she watches over me and helps me whenever I need it. Guess I’m lucky” she felt bad for the guy he couldn’t be much older than she was and yet he had been on his own at such a young age it wasn’t fair. The people from his home village instead of taking him in had just let him leave. ”I’m really sorry to hear about what happened” she offered turning the fish again so they didn’t burn. The pair fell into a comfortable silence as the sun began to set. It was Alana’s favorite time of day if only for the beautiful sunset.

Maosn smiled as he leaned back and thought about everythig. "oh it was fun to travel, I got to see many new people and things." he said as he thought of everything. He then sighed, "but there are bad times, but that is what comes with being a traveler." he said and remembered all the times the villagers had thrown him out of a village or tried to kill him. It was hard ti deal with sometimes but he delt with it. He friwned when he heard about her mother and looked over at her, "I am sorry about your mom but I am glad you had people to help you. It is hard being on your own." he said and smiled. He wondered if this was why he fekt so comfortable around her, they both suffered loss. He then smiled sadly, "thanks, I think your the first to say that." he said sine most people just cursed his family and wanted him dead. He then looked into the fire and smiled, this was perfect. He loved just sitting and relaxing for once.

”Yeah I suppose it is” but while she had suffered from the loss of her mother Martha had been there to help watch over her, Mason on the other hand had had no one but himself to rely on. He had no home no family and was constantly wandering so he had no friends to lean on. It saddened her and if someone looked closely at him they could see the sadness in him, she wanted to take that away. ”I won’t be the last” leaning over she went to take the fish off the fire before they burned, but it seemed juggling two sticks at once was beyond her in the end she ended up spilling the boiling bucket full of crabs all over her lap. She gasped as the water burned her, but even worse was the tingling sensation that always came before she turned into a mermaid, her skirt clung to her legs as she turned and ran towards the water jumping in only a second too soon as her legs became a fin that if she pulled her skirt down could be kept hidden.

Mason nodded when he heard her and looked out over the water. He knew that she probably fekt bad for him but he had learned to deal with it. He just couldn't believe that she had been lucky enough to find someone to take care of her. She was really lucky and he wished that he had someone like she did. Someone who could look out for him but that wouldn't happen, he wcoukdnt get close to anyone. He then smirked and shook his head, she didn't understand that no one cared about him when they found out who he was. He just had to wait for her to learn who he is. He the. Watched her as she took thefood off the fore but could tell something was goin to happen. When she spilled the water he jumped to his feet to help her. Yet she was already jumping into the water. Quickly he moved to the edge of the water and looked out towards where she had been. "Alana?! Are you okay?" he called and slowly started to step into the water to go after her.

There was a mark from where the hot water had burned her and even in the ocean it still hurt wincing she touched the mark and immediately drew her hand back tucking her skirt firmly around herself to hide her fin she moved a little closer to shore, enough so that Mason could see her ”I’m here Mason the water burned me and the ocean is soothing it. Clumsy me. Don’t come out here though I’m perfectly alright” she called out to him soothingly she had no idea what she was going to do. How could she get out of the water without him seeing the her fin? “Mason sorry I think I ruined our dinner, the fish have sand all over them and the crabs were spilt all over the ground. Maybe we can cook up some more?”

Mason frowned as he tried to see her and slowly could make her out. "are you sure your okay?" he called out and wondered if he should go in after her. But he wasn't sure if she would like that since her cloths were probably soaked. When he heard her he smirked and then called out. "that is fine, all that matters is that your okay." he said and slowly thought for a second and smiled. "how about this, I will go get you a towel from the village so that you can dry off. I can then go hunting for something. I am sure I can't get you a bigger fish then before and all the while you can dry off by the fire." he said as he looked at her and hoped she liked hensound of that.

”Yes yes that sounds perfect go get me a towel and I’ll just change into new clothes and dry off near the fire” it seemed like the perfect solution he would leave long enough for her to change into her new dry dress and her legs would change back into legs. After he left she crawled out of the ocean looking around furtively just in case. Seeing no one she slipped out of her wet dress that kept her in mermaid form once she was out of it and in her new dry dress sitting near the fire her legs thankfully came back. It was only then that she breathed a sigh of relief, the whole time she had been changing and sitting there she had been freaking out every sound making her think he was coming back. She didn’t know what he would do if he saw her secret. The crabs looked salvageable if she washed them. Scooping up the four that didn’t look to dirty she washed them off and refilled the bucket, they wouldn’t taste as good anymore but they would be edible, thinking it over she decided to just find more instead. It wasn’t long before she had four new ones boiling the others she just threw to the fishes.

Mason nodded when he heard her and headed back to town. He quickly made his way up the path and into the village yet as he walked down teh road no one dared get close to him. He had a feeling that no one would give him a blanket or anything else for that matter. "this is perfect." he said and then saw a blanket on a cloths line. He knew he shouldn't but he had to get something for her. So he quickly ran over and snatched it before anyone saw. he then headed into the forest and started to look around. He needed to find some food if they were gone to eat tonight. Gently he tired the blanket around his neck and shifted into his other form. He looked weird but he had to hunt and keep the blanket. So he slowly started to make his way around. After a little whiel he found a small little boar and quickly managed to hunt it down. Slowly he shifted back to his human form and headed back to the beach. Once he got there he untied the blanket form his neck and smield as he walked over to her, "I got food and a blanket." he said as he smiled at her.

Alana flashed a bright smile at him feeling more at ease now that her fin had become legs again, she was shocked by the boar he set on the ground near her and a blanket that looked much too familiar but she didn’t bring it up. In the end she would just wash it and return it no harm done she was unsure of what to do with the boar skinning fish was very different from skinning and gutting a boar, even one as small as this one. ”You know how to skin it right?” she asked handing him a knife she always kept handy with the rest of her clothes. ”Because I don’t have any idea, I’m surprised you got this so fast, you must be an amazing hunter…. But then you must have to be to survive” taking a stick with the bark stripped clean she gave the new crabs she found a quick stir. "I got some new ones to replace the other ones I so clumsily caused us to loose" she flashed him a sheepish smile still embarrassed and distressed by the fact that she could have been caught
