Damon Appollymi

As the god of destruction he knew that it was his fate to one day end the world, but that day wasn’t today. How would he know when to end it? He just did.

The other gods fear him it was said by the three fates that Damon would bring out the end of the gods, and the world itself, Damon was a new god birthed of Hades, when Hades wrath had been so large that the very skies crackled and boomed around him Damon had been born. Even his father Hades feared his power, Damon created his own people the Apollimites they served him worshiped him and they were the most advanced humans of their time. The other gods grew jealous of his powers, fearful as well so they all banded together, Apollo, Artemis, Zeus, Hera, Aphrodite, Athena, Poseidon, and even his own father Hades had banded together in sending him to sleep. For eleven thousand years Damon slept as the world changed around him, nothing could wake him, nothing until an earthquake caused by Poseidon freed him. So he could exact his revenge.

”Beyond these golden doors lays the destruction of our world. They who set foot in its golden halls shall bring forth our demise."

Excerpt written on the door of Damon’s temple where he is trapped.

"Raven, could you take out the trash?" Her manager called as she left. Niamh grumbled, but grabbed the rest of the trash in the club and took the heaping bags outside. "This is the last time. I swear to whatever gods are out there listening. This is the last time. I have a freaking Master's Degree in Theology and Languages!" Her dark bangs flitted in front of her eyes. The air was still warm from the day and the city was quieting down finally, right before dawn. Looking around, she sighed. "Freaking dawn light and it's freaking fog..."

Psycho Alice 09-30-2011 02:16 AM

Awareness pulled at the edge of his consciousness, the earth shook around him bringing the ancient walls of his temple crashing down around him. Rubble and pieces of wall littered the ground before him, he stood shaking off the cobwebs of his eleven thousand year sleep. His powers had returned in tangible waves, the other gods could feel the immense power and knew what it meant, he was awake and he would come for them, he had sworn he would and a god’s word could not be broken.
Damon looked around at his destroyed city, what had once been a thriving city was now a barren wasteland only the ruins a hint that anyone had ever been there, anger rolled through him dark and frightening to anyone who could feel it. Artemis flashed a warning look at her brother Apollo, only a few hours he had been awake and a meeting had already been called.

Damon wandered the streets of a world that had changed so much, it wasn’t hard to get caught up on the history he was a god after all. But the difference was amazing humans themselves hadn’t changed but technology had. He should really visit one of those clubs he kept hearing, okay seeing in peoples minds.

Windy Opal 09-30-2011 02:29 AM

Raven noticed a dark figure walking the streets after the tremor had passed. At this time between night and day, the streets were normally hers to wander and that tremor felt unlike any of the other earthquakes. "Hello! Hey! Are you lost or something?" She called. Niamh, what are you doing? He could be a murderer or something! She thought, but still the dark figure outlined against the rising sun intrigued her. Her skin prickled and she rubbed her arms. The club next door's music was still echoing in the narrow alley, and the half-light in the fog, made it seem like a night for something amazing to happen. Her grandmother used to tell her stories of a god, even the other gods were afraid of, and how one day he would wake up and roam their world, causing destruction. "Justice, Niamh, justice is what our god will bring back to the world. A new beginning..." Her grandmother had told her.

He caught her stray thought and it brought a dark smile to his lips, oh if she only knew. ”Maybe a bit lost mind telling me where I can find the most popular club around?” the woman standing before him was nice to look at beautiful really, for a human that is she didn’t hold a candle to say Aphrodite’s or Artemis but she had an earthly human beauty that was quite breathtaking. He flashed her a smile if he wanted he could really just pick out the information he wanted from her but when he tried it was oddly difficult and then he remembered words his father had spoke to him., Damon people who will one day be close to you their thoughts will be nigh impossible for you to read and the closer you become to them the less you can see into their mind until you see nothing at all Damon wondered what it was this female would be to him, but now really wasn’t the time to think about it. He had just become freed and he intended to enjoy his first night out. ”Well?” he prompted when she didn’t say anything.

Windy Opal 10-01-2011 01:34 AM

Niamh shook her head scattering her thoughts. "That would be the Crypt." She said pointing at the old brick building next to her. "We're open Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday from dusk til dawn." The familiar words came out with a smooth air. The strange man was beautiful, but dangerous. She cleared her throat and reached inside the door for her guitar case and jacket. Closing it, she locked it and turned to look at him with a determined air. "We're closed. You could try one of the clubs next door, but they pale in comparison and their music sucks." A slightly cocky smile made her eyes sparkle. "As house guitarist, I would know. Is there somewhere I could direct you to?"

Psycho Alice 10-01-2011 01:58 AM

”In that case I had just better come back when the place is open I wouldn’t want to suffer through anything less than the best after all” a wry smile broke the serious look on his face. ”Alright then how about you direct me to a hotel? I’m new in town and could really use a place to crash” he had no money of course, but being a god that didn’t really matter he could just make some. There was a few nice perks about being omnipotent after all, ”how about you lead the way. You seem to know your way around the place after all and I would hate to get lost, especially when you could so easily direct me” he tried to ignore the way his stomach reminded him of when he had last eaten, or drank for that matter. As the god of destruction his main subsistence was blood, he used to get it from his priests or priestesses but they were long gone and he hadn’t eaten in eleven thousand years. He could smell her blood under her skin her life source, he could feel his fangs growing and he knew a dark light must have come into his eyes but he ignored it, there would be time to eat later although his rumbling stomach said otherwise. It would be so easy to take and he could just make her forget, he nearly gave in but held himself in check

Niamh raised an eyebrow and shrugged. "Fine, let's go. I'm Niamh, by the way." She said introducing herself. The heels of her boots clicked on the asphalt as she walked out of the alley. "And you are...?" Niamh began to ask when a car nearly hit her. "What in the name of the god of destruction is your problem?" She called after the car as it sped away. "Stupid drunks and their stupid cars..." She muttered as she sighed and shivered. The fog was thickening and the early morning chill swept over her. Her guitar case had popped open nearby and photos of her family could be seen on the inside. Niamh didn't notice the open case as she chased after music.

Psycho Alice 10-01-2011 02:43 AM

”Hm it’s not every day that one hears someone refer to the god of destruction. My name is Damon by the way” stooping down he picked up the pictures sifting through them one after the other, they were various pictures of the girl growing up happy and loved with aunts, uncles, cousins, her mother and father, her grandparents and siblings. One photo in particular caught his attention, it was a picture of the grandmother and Nimph heads bent together, it was clear the grandmother was telling a story and the little girl was enthralled, eyes shining with interest and amazement. ”Cute, what story is she telling?” he asked holding up the picture, she was clutching her music sheets as she came back over to him.

Windy Opal 10-01-2011 02:52 AM

"The story of the god of destruction and the great city that he built in defiance of the gods. She used to tell me he would awaken and those loyal to him would be chosen to survive when he began the world anew." Niamh knelt down next to him and smiled sadly. "Gran was the last of the high priestesses, and I was supposed to be her replacement, but she died in a boat accident before I received my training." Her voice quivered a little bit. "Let's go get some coffee. I'm freezing."

Psycho Alice 10-01-2011 03:19 AM

”Not many people believe in him you know, or any of the Greek gods they are just myths. Beside’s from what I heard he’s just supposed to destroy the world there was nothing I heard about him picking a select few and rebuilding it” it surprised him that even eleven thousand years later he still had a following people who believed he would come back to them. If he were capable of compassion he would be filled with a warm glowing feeling as it was he felt… nice. Taking off his coat he draped it over her shoulders taking the case from her to carry it instead ”sounds good lead the way tour guide you know this city I don’t”

Windy Opal 10-01-2011 03:35 AM

Niamh nodded her thanks and led the way through the dim streets to a 24-hour coffee shop. It was small and cozy, a brick building. "So what's your story?" She asked as she got in line with Damon to order a coffee. There were only a few people mostly people she recognized from the local clubs. "Did you just wake up and find your way to the Crypt or what?" She asked. "What kind of coffee do you want?" Her mind was running over the possibilities and finally it settled. I need to call my family. That earthquake had to be the work of the priests of Poseidon...no one else is that stupid...except maybe Ares....

Psycho Alice 10-01-2011 04:06 AM

”You could say that I suppose, yes I just woke up” he made air quotes around the term woke up a secret smile on his lips. He had to thank whoever caused the earthquake though no doubt they were in a shitload of trouble for bringing him back. He had never had coffee before and simply ordered the same as she had, the stuff was bitter yet oddly energizing, he rather liked it. ”Basically I’ve been away for a very long time and just come back, it was the earthquake that woke me I don’t know how anyone could sleep through that” she looked warmer now that they were inside but he made no move to take his coat back, he paid for their coffee and led her to a small café table off to the side away from everyone else. Although it was mostly people awake all night, or others who had to get up pretty damn early for work. ”There really isn’t that much to say, I was raised by my dad who hates me, haven’t seen him in years, I’m out of work, and just lost my.. home to the earthquake”

Windy Opal 10-01-2011 04:17 AM

Niamh nodded and took a drink of her coffee. "I can get you a job at the club. We need another bartender and you can crash at my apartment until you get on your feet. But be warned, I have a collection of sacrificial daggers and am willing to use them." She smiled wryly and finished her cup. "Let me get one of these for the road and we'll get going." She said. Something about him was oddly fascinating, like an old language that no one else understood. Niamh stood and went to get another cup of coffee. She was ignoring the looks she was getting from random guys. "Stupid heads..." She muttered as she avoided various subtle grabs and offers. "This is a coffee shop, not a freaking club...."

Psycho Alice 10-01-2011 11:21 PM

Damon nodded slowly taking another sip of the coffee, coffee hadn’t been around in his time he was more accustomed to drinking wine. ”I wouldn’t want to put you out, and honestly don’t worry about getting me a job I always land on my feet, I know how to get my own work” the work of a god of course, one would say that was one of the hardest jobs. Some wouldn’t some thought that because they were all powerful they just did whatever the hell they wanted. ”But I will take you up on your offer of letting me stay at your place, though I would advise you against letting just anyone stay with you. You might get more work than you bargained for” one man who had groped her let out a yelp of pain and Damon smiled a small smug smile unclenching his hand.

Windy Opal 10-02-2011 12:40 AM

Niamh jumped at the yelp and looked up at him. "I don't let just anyone stay with me..." She took a drink of coffee and nodded towards the door. "Let's go." Her phone rang and she reached for it. "Hello." They were outside and she rolled her eyes skyward. "Yes, I'm fine, Mum. No, Mum, I haven't eaten yet. Yes, Mum, I promise. Okay. Okay." She blushed at something her mother said. "MUM!!" The fog was clearing up, and the light showed the red tinges in her hair and her very red face. "That's none of your business. I have to go. Tell daddy I said hi and give everyone my love." Niamh hung up and clenched her phone tightly. I can't believe she asked about my love life... She thought and nodded. "My apartment building is right there." She said pointing to a stone building across the street. Walking across the street, she pulled his jacket closer around her and shivered. "I hate the cold."

Psycho Alice 10-02-2011 01:31 AM

Damon suppressed a smile Nimph’s face had turned an amazing shade of red, he could hear what her mother asked and was curious himself, but he would find out soon enough if over the next couple days an angry boyfriend threatened to beat him up. “Nah the cold isn’t so bad” he shrugged since he had given her his coat he only wore a short sleeved shirt, and yet he didn’t feel the cold. “So what made you open your home to me anyway? You don’t know me for all you know I could be a crazed psychopath with a hankering for human flesh” he laughed and made a scary face as he held the door open for her. The lobby was brightly lit and really warm, a welcome change from outside, at least for her, maybe now she would warm up. “I could kill you in your sleep, or maybe you wake up to find yourself bound hand and foot to a bed with me standing over you” Damon shrugged, following her to her apartment. “Not that I would do any of that but still”

Windy Opal 10-02-2011 01:58 AM

Niamh laughed. "I was taught to be hospitable and growing up as a fisherman's daughter in a small town taught me how to take care of myself." She opened her door and turned on the light. "Here we are." The apartment wasn't huge, but it wasn't small either. The walls in the hallway were covered with pictures of the small town she grew up in. The living room was covered with bookcases and comfortable looking chairs. There were books about languages, in different languages, and about religions, but there were also various souvenirs from her trips around the world. Her favorites were from Greece and were showcased in a case of their own along with pictures of her and her brother. "There's one bedroom, so you'll have to crash on the couch. The kitchen's through there." She said pointing through a doorway to the kitchen. "Bathroom's through there. There's extra shampoo and what not under the sink. Other than that, make yourself at home."

Psycho Alice 10-02-2011 02:22 AM

He didn’t say a word as he wandered around her apartment taking in all the pictures. My my for a human with such a short lifespan she had been to a lot of places. Greece, Italy, France, some parts of South America it looked like. If he had ever wanted to pick out a human who could possibly believe in his existence and even figure it out she was the one. Religion and long lost languages seemed to be her bread and butter, well aside from her obvious career as a struggling musician. “You’ve been all over haven’t you?” it was a rhetorical question, it was clear to anyone with eyes that she had been a lot of places. There were many pictures of a small town he actually recognized mainly for the statues that decorated it, they were supposed to represent him though none looked a bit like him. It was a town that had always been on the outskirts of his city. It seemed that one area had survived the thought was cheering. “I know that place I lived for the longest time near there”

Windy Opal 10-02-2011 02:30 AM

Niamh raised her eyebrows in surprise. "Really?! Wow. I thought I knew most of the people in and around the town. I grew up there. We used to visit the temple and make sure the god's resting place was taken care of." She explained. "I hated moving away, but I needed to go to college." She took the guitar case and placed it next to one of the chairs. "Ignore the last picture on your right." Niamh said with a laugh. "It's a good picture of my family, but the boy next to me is a long time out of the picture." The picture showed a large group of people with strong family resemblances, except one who was tall and brawny with red hair. She had explained it with a laugh, but the anger and hurt rushed through her again. You knew it was bound to happen. Ares and Aphrodite couldn't keep their hands off each other, what made you think you could beat out one of her worshippers?" The familiar thought echoed through her mind and she tried to shake it off.

Psycho Alice 10-02-2011 02:44 AM

“You can’t just tell me to ignore a picture that you point out, come on girl what you take me for” he laughed but stopped as soon as he got a closer inspection at the picture. The girl believed in gods didn’t she, she had to. He felt a flash of anger as he looked at the man just you wait, you all will pay for what you did to me, I will destroy all of you just like you tried to destroy me keeping his face a neutral mask he turned to her. “I’m going to go jump in the shower if you don’t mind… Thanks again for letting me stay with you, that’s very kind of you” flashing her a smile he turned and went down the hall, the bathroom wasn’t the grandest and he didn’t have people waiting on him like he used to but in a way it was nice. He liked to be fawned over sure but he also liked alone time too, to take care of things himself. His first shower in over eleven thousand years, he knew the years had passed had actually felt each one as it went by, but to him the past seemed like only yesterday.

Windy Opal 10-02-2011 03:18 AM

Niamh nodded absently. "Go ahead, enjoy." She walked to the window and looked out at the dawn. "I have the strangest feeling he's more than he seems." As she looked down at the street, she stifled a cry as she saw a very familiar figure out in the street. "Damon! I'm...uh...going out for a minute. Be right back." She rushed out of the apartment, still wearing his jacket. "Ares! What are you doing here?" Her echoed through the empty street. The man smiled broadly. "Better question. How did you find me?" He laughed and she glared. "Now who does that belong too?" He asked picking at the sleeve of the jacket, as his other arm reached around her. "Does it matter how?"

Psycho Alice 10-02-2011 04:08 AM

Damon’s senses flared he could feel power, strong but not strong enough. Only the strongest of the gods could mask their power so either this was a weak god or too cocky and arrogant to even try. Shutting off the shower he clothed himself with an entirely new outfit he manifested, Ares, no doubt about it. The god of war, he flashed himself into the street, now was a time to start getting revenge for all those wasted years shut away from the world. A dark smile graced his lips as he approached the pair from behind. He wasn’t surprised to see Nimph there, considering she probably knew all about gods. ”Hello Ares long time no see, how’s everyone up on Mount Olympus? Still as cowardly as ever?” he taunted crossing his arms over his broad chest. They would all pay and surely they knew it. "I would say get your hands off her but they will be gone soon enough might as well enjoy them while you have the chance"

Windy Opal 10-02-2011 04:17 AM

Niamh whirled. "Damon, how did you..." She turned to look at Ares and her eyes flared. "By all the gods, you're scared of him!" Ares cursed. "Stay out of this, Niamh. It was probably you who released him." Her eyes narrowed. "What are you talking about?" Ares just released her and glared at Damon. "I'll let you tell your little priestess. Don't think we'll let you live this time!" With that final threat, he was gone and Niamh turned to face Damon. "Priestess?" She began and then grew very angry. "You son of a....You lied to me."
