{Devilfern & Shania583}
This is a roleplay between myself and devil, so please do not post unless you are one of but you are welcome to read along. Name: Tally Age: 21 Gender: Female Appearance: http://i765.photobucket.com/albums/x...nimeGirl24.jpg History: Tally has always been different for and odd reason but she never let that get to her until everyone started acting different around her. She lived in the same town never really thinking of leaving it until the others started treating her differently. She has always glowed when she got scared or frighten but she would take the light from around her. That was when she decided to leave and she ran away. |
Name: Avery
Age: 22 Gender: male Appearance: Tall and wiry, with a long angular face and ash blonde hair. He's a bit too scrawny and sharp-featured to be considered handsome, but there is a rather charming light in his gray eyes. His hair is long enough to fall into his eyes on occasion, with a bit of wave in it. Avery wears simple traveling clothing in greens and browns. The clothes are well worn but clean and still serviceable. He carries a bow and quiver of arrows, as well as a long knife. History: Not much of a one, as far as anyone really knows. He wanders in and out of towns near forests. There's a rumor that he's actually a changeling child, a replacement fairy that was left in the stead of a human baby, but no one has been able to prove it. Some people even say that he can take the form of animals...a rangy red fox or horned owl. I will post an actual post when I get back to a real computer! It's tough typin on these teeny phone keys <3 |
The sun was just beginning to set over the woods. The long shadows of the trees stretched longer as the sun sank, far-reaching fingers of reddish light trying to pierce the darkness between the trunks. No light could wander into those woods, though. They were sullen and dark, no matter what the time of day -- whatever meager light could manage to filter through was stained green by the thick foliage overhead. Moss carpeted the ground, making huge patches of soft, dark color that muffled footsteps. Sound seemed to be swallowed there, the trees stealing any noise you made and giving you only the mournful notes of the birds high above in return. It was for that reason that the inhabitants of the nearby village did not dare to enter. They said that the silence would wear away at your soul. It was a forest where dark things lived.
One of these things was currently walking between the trees without a care in the world. He didn't mind the silence, or the lack of light, because he had nothing to fear from it. His shape was of a lean, rangy red fox, ears pricked forward to attention and eyes searching the forest floor. He moved between the trees like just another shadow in the gloom, listening and watching. |
Tally walked quickly threw the darkening forest trying to find a way out and away from her village. She kept looking around frantically making sure that no one was following her as well as watching for other things. It was hard to walk with all of the growth that covered the ground as well as some of the lower branches. The bottom of her yellow dress was tearing from the plants that it got caught one. All she wanted to do was keep moving so that she could get as far away as she could.
Tally normally never went out at night but also knew of the stories from the forest and now knew that it was very silent. She never knew if anything was coming or not and as it was growing darker she started to get frightened. With her being frighten she started to glow like she normally always did; she could see a little better with the light but knew that it might attract more attention. She kept walking so that she could very far away by morning. |
Ah, here was something interesting at last.
The fox's ears twitched and he lifted his nose to the air, testing. That wasn't something you smelled every day...how peculiar. Something like curiosity shone in the animal's eyes, and he abruptly changed course, moving at a tangent to the unseen path he had previously been following. His pace was quicker now, more urgent. He weaved through the trees as silently as a little ghost, intent on his target. Finally, he came upon her, the faintly glowing girl in the dark forest. Her light reflected off his animal eyes. The fox quickened his pace again, coming in an arc around the girl so that he would be ahead of her. He paused on a fallen, moss covered trunk, and gave a short little bark. The noise was dampened by the moss and leaves above, but she could hardly fail to notice the high-pitched signal. |
Tally had kept walking in the direction that she had been following until she heard a high-pitched sound. She got more frightened and started to glow more, when she saw what it was she stumbled backwards. She just looked at the animal and stood there glowing. She didn’t know what the animal was going to do but she didn’t want to run from it knowing that was how most people got attacked. She saw how her glow was reflecting in it’s eyes add to the affect making it look even more creepier.
|
The fox stepped off the rotten log and took a few steps towards the glowing young lady, a sort of curious expression on his face. Strangely enough, he managed to convey expression without human features. He made another noise, a sort of contemplative sniff, before turning again and hopping onto a nearby rock. He turned to look over its shoulder at her, as if inviting her to follow him. This idea was reinforced by another little yip and flick of his long bushy tail.
|
Tally watched as the fox came closer to her, and took a few steps backwards to keep her distance from it. When it turned and jumped up on the rock to her it looked like it wanted her to follow it. She slowly moved towards it thinking that it couldn’t be any worse then what she was going threw back home. Besides it couldn’t talk so it couldn’t make fun of her, she smiled at this thought and her glowing dimmed slightly thought she was still frightened. She still kept her distance thought not wanting to take to many chances in this forest. By now she was glad that she had run away and some how this fox was helping her and it made it a little easier.
|
The fox gained a self-satisfied look as the young lady approached him. Again, it was difficult to comprehend how a canine face could convey such expression, but it was there all the same. With another flick of his tail, he hopped off the log and began to trot away in a purposeful way. As for helping her...he wasn't quite sure what he wanted to do with the girl just yet. He was waiting to see what she would do. He could lead her to somewhere safe, for now, though.
The fox went along in this fashion for quite some time, occasionally pausing to yip at the girl to ensure she was still following him. He skirted through the trees easily, but he seemed to understand that it was more difficult for a two-legged human to traverse the forest landscape. Finally, he darted into the space between two huge trees, obscuring himself from sight. She would have to follow through the space in order to keep following him. |
Tally watched at the fox started moving again and followed after him. She had no idea where they were going but to her the fox looked almost like it was trying to make human face, but they were almost so good. She tried to keep up with it but it was harder to walk with all of the bushes so she was glad when it stopped to wait for her. When she saw him go threw two trees she stopped and looked at the space debating on whether or not she was going to follow the fox anymore. It was getting darker and she looked around, not really wanting to be stuck out her she started to follow the fox threw the trees. She was getting a little frightened and started glowing once again.
|
There was an impatient noise from beyond the two trees. It sounded as though the fox were sighing. He stuck his nose out again and watched her, his yellow eyes focused on her face. The fox's tail wagged once or twice, as if he were trying to reassure her. He pawed at the ground, then turned once more and skipped back between the trees. A light breeze flowed from between them and played around Tally's skirt. It was warmer than the air in the rest of the forest, strangely.
|
{Sorry it has taken me so long}
Tally looked at the trees when she heard the noise and then watched as the fox came back out and looked at her. She watched it while it trying to convince her to follow it, she laughed slightly as she watched the fox skip back into the trees. It was funny how the fox skipped it almost looked human. She stopped glowing when she started laughing but when she couldn’t see the fox anymore she was worried again and feeling the warm breeze around her skirt didn’t help as she began glowing again. She saw the trees again the quickly walked between them to try and find the fox. |
Beyond the trees there was a bright little clearing, illuminated by a sudden break in the canopy above. Sunlight streamed down through the opening, showing a carpet of thick green grass, punctuated by a few mossy boulders. The air was warmer here, from the heavy sunlight, and the grasses moved very gently with the hint of a breeze. There were even a few straggly cornflowers between the rocks, showing their bright blue faces to the sun.
The fox, however, was no where to be seen. In his stead, a lean young man was perched on one of the boulders, watching Tally with curious, gray green eyes. His build was narrow but wiry, and he had an expression of amusement mixed with interest on his face. "Are ya lost?" He asked as she drew closer. "It's pretty easy to get lost in these woods." ((No worries!)) |
{On iPod so no colour this time}
When Tally walked into the clearing she looked around it, she was completely suprised by it and forgot about the fox for a moment while she tried to take in the beauty of the place. She was glad that it was warmer here and that there was light, well besides her own glow. She continued looking around until she remembered that she was looking for the fox she had followed here. She turned around trying to find him but instead saw the male sitting on the rock. Her eyes widened in fear and she started to glow moreyet again. This was one thing she was not expecting, hearing him ask her a question she looked at him and said "I.. Umm... No, I-I'm not lost. I-I was following a fox. Umm maybe you've s-seen it?" Following a fox might not have been the best idea now, she had no idea who this man was or what he could do or why he was in the middle of a forest that had such bad stories about it. |
A wide grin spread across the rangy man's face. He slid off the boulder and stood with his arms loosely crossed, watching her as if she were an interesting specimen to observe. "You're a pretty little thing," He said, completely ignoring her question. She'd figure it out sooner or later. "But you're safe here, for now. Nothing nasty comes into this part of the forest." Except for me...The man tilted his head on one side, looking her up and down. She looked so delicate and timid, it was a shame to see her so frightened. He tried to make his expression reassuring and kind.
|
Tally watched as the man got off of his perch and as he looked at her, hearing that he said it was safe here. She didn't like the way that he was looking at her and then remembered all of the stories that she had heard growing up about this forest. She took a step back the way she came saying "I-I've heard stories about this forest and I-I don't really want to stay here longer t-then I have to." She took another step back saying "Y-you must have seen it, u-umm it is a little red fox and i-it came threw those trees." She didn't really know if the stories were true or not but they were all she had to go on right now.
|
The man sighed slightly and gave a mental shrug -- obviously she was still curious about the little foxie. "I understand. I am, actually, the fox. I don't like to stay in one shape for very long, I apologize if it inconveniences you." He flashed her a smile. "I suppose I could change back if you prefer me that way. I do enjoy it when young ladies want to stroke my fur and treat me like their pet." He chuckled at his own "wit" and ran a hand through his hair. "And I could lead you out of the forest, if you want..." His expression changed to a downcast meekness.
|
{Sorry for taking so long}
Tally just looked at the man in shock and then started thinking about what he was saying. She was starting to get worried again and then started glowing more, she couldn't believe that some of the stories of the forest were true. There were shapeshifters and one was right in front of her talking to her. Hearing that he could shift back into the fox if she wanted she just looked at him then said "N-no it's fine, I-I just didn't think that the stories were really true. I-I mean I guess that I should have." Hearing that he couls lead her out of the forest she smiled then said "That would be-" but when she saw that he looked down and looked almost sad. She then said "H-how many others are there like you? I mean is there any other things here in the forest that are like you?" She found that it was getting easier to talk to him now that she knew that he was the fox meaning that he was almost like her. She was still glowing but it was a little dimmer now. |
