Demonic Thriller/Romance

This is the thread for the Demonic Thriller/Romance between Warrow8282 and GypsyDancer: ...

Setting/Background:

This RP takes place in a modern day human world, where there are big cities, plenty of entertainment, and mysterious, vicious murders that take place all around the world. Well, maybe this world isn't quite as "human" as was originally thought. Within this world there exists a multitude of fantasy creatures and races that the majority of humans consider myths.

One such race is Demon-kind. Existing mostly on an alternate plane, Demons have the ability to enter the human world through large enough shadows, though it is forbidden to do so without permission from the Demon King. However, as it is in all societies that exist, there are always rule-breakers. Some Demon-kind cross into the human world without permission for their own twisted reasons, some to commit heinous crimes they wouldn't be able to on their plane, others to commit the ultimate sin of breeding with the human race.

As there are those that would break the rules, so are there those who are obligated to enforce them. They are known as the Hunters, Demons with powerful magic at their disposal, tasked with tracking down Demon-Kind that have escaped to the human world and eliminating them. This is no small feat, as a Demon, even in it's human form, can only be killed through decapitation, incineration, or through removal of it's heart. A Demon does not eat, does not drink, and does not bleed.

Demon-kind have two forms they can take on. Their human form is a disguise they use when wandering the human world, and only the most powerful of Demon-kind can fully mask their Demonic form. Others will show tell-tale signs of being Demons, such as small horns to be hidden under hats, unusually sharp teeth, a slight tinge of color in their skin, pointy ears, claws, or even their tail. In their Demonic form, Demon-kind can take on many shapes, colors, and sizes, though all are Humanoid in appearance, and the majority at least have horns of some kind.

Every Demon is tied to one of the four elements (Water, Fire, Earth, Air), and can access to some degree the power of that element, depending on how strong the Demon itself is. The Demon King is the only known Demon in existence to control the mystical 5th element: the energy within a living being. He is revered and feared in the supernatural world, as he is capable of draining the life from a being with just a look and a thought.

Character name: Ozatasr (In the Human world, he introduces himself as Oz)
Appearance: In his human form, Oz is tall with reddish-blonde hair, sparkling blue eyes, and well-toned muscles. He looks to be about 25, though, in actuality, he is well over 500 years old. As he is very powerful, very little sign of his demonic form is evident in his human appearance, save for the bright blue markings swirled across his skin. If asked by humans, Oz will say he got some funky tattoos when he was younger and foolish. In his Demonic form, Oz's skin is completely blue, his blue hair extends past his waist, and he has a multitude of horns around his face.

History/Bio: Oz is a Hunter, and one of the most powerful Water Demons on his plane. He has no family in his world, as they were killed in the Demon wars that took place before the current Demon King took the throne 400 years ago. So, Oz spends almost all of his time in the human world, tracking Demon outlaws and dispatching them when necessary.

Oz lifted his face to the sky, eyes shut, allowing the splattering of rain drops to caress his cheeks and lips. The icy rain told him a story. Up ahead...just a little further...two of them. A slow smile spread across his face, and Oz opened his eyes, two brilliant blue gems set perfectly in his features. His prey was close and it had begun to rain. He had the advantage.

Oz quickened his pace, moving nearly silently through the dead back alley-ways of the city. It was 4am. Most of the Humans were safe and sound in their beds by now, even the drunken party-goers, meaning less risk of exposure. Oz hated hunting in the cities, but, unfortunately, the mass of Human-kind that gathered attracted criminals, Human and other. It was easier for brutal murders to be overlooked in such areas.

Catching a non-human scent, Oz stopped and scanned his surroundings. There. A large dumpster was pressed up against a brick wall, encased in the shadows of the ally. Oz could see perfectly through the shadows, making out a human woman wedged between the wall and a sleek, pale, male body. The male froze and whirled around to face in Oz's direction, having caught his scent as well, and let out a low hiss. Oz took in the sight of the human woman, blood leeching from her body through the gnawed section of her neck, before focusing his full attention on the male.

"Damn Vampires," Oz muttered as he shook his head in disdain. He backed out of the alley slowly before turning to continue his hunt. Vampires had exposed themselves so frequently to Human-kind, they were being romanticized in books and movies in this day and age. Oz despised them for being so open about their existence, and for their need to feed on Human blood, not that he had any particular sensitivity towards Human-kind. The Vampire, however, was not his prey.

Oz had been tracking a Demon from his world for two weeks now, following trails of Human female bodies left maimed and mutilated in the alleys of big cities. Oz could smell the Demon on the Human kills and could read the history of what had happened in the Human's blood. It is a skill that made him invaluable for tracking the killers. Human bodies were made up of a vast amount of water, and water told him stories.

As the sky began to show hints of daybreak's arrival, Oz let out a heaving sigh and pulled the collar of his jacket a little further up against his neck, attempting to hide the majority of his blue markings from sight. They drew too much attention, and Oz could not afford to stand out too much in the Human world. He was resigning himself to settling in for the day and continuing his hunt the next night as he turned down another darkened alley.

Character Name: Amunet
Appearance: Amunet, in her human form, has bright red hair that just barely kisses her shoulders and ember eyes that seem to have a flame dancing behind them. Her skin is deathly pale, but always feels warm. Her facial features are very fairy-esque and accentuates her slender frame. In her human form she has a small tail that she has learned to hide very well. There is a flower tattoo on her right wrist that she got for no apparent reason whatsoever. In her demon form Amunet is a humanistic flaming form with a tail and very tiny horns.

History/ Bio: Amunet is a wanderer. She has no recollection of her younger years without the slightest idea why her mind blocks such things. In her little less than five hundred years, Amunet knows she’s done some terrible things and she just wants a fresh start. So, she stays in the human realm where her kind isn’t supposed to be. She tries not to harm anyone, but sometimes the action is called for. Okay, and some necessities can only be gained in such a manner. But mostly she’ll send the dangerous of her kind back. It isn’t her job, no that would be her candle shop, but it’s something that makes her feel… good about herself.

The streets were silent as the tiny framed girl strutted down the side walk in her jeans, half-tee, and sneakers. It was a beautiful night, except for one thing. A demon had killed her neighbor, a neighbor she was fond of. So tonight, Amunet was on the hunt for the number one spot on her hit list at the moment. Normally, she would have moved on but this neighbor of hers was really her only friend. This hunt would be easy and Amunet knew it as a small smile crossed her lips. But that didn’t matter since the current weather conditions dampened her excitement. The water droplets caused a sizzling steam as soon as they hit her skin and she tried her best to keep her temperature down so it wouldn’t draw any attention, but it failed so she just had to be thankful that anyone out at this time of night wouldn’t pay her much mind or if they did they were in too much of a stupor to care.

As she got closer Amunet could feel the heat radiating off of her target, practically feeling the fear rise in him. She knew her target was a male from the remains of her neighbor’s body. “Typical.” She muttered in her silky voice as she kept on forward. As she grew so close she could almost taste him, her ember eyes flicked around with every bit of caution she could muster. Of course there were others out in the night air such as the vampires that Amunet had simply learned to ignore, even when they hissed at her. “I don’t want your meal.” She snapped as the same vampire that had hissed at her three times that night hissed at her for a fourth time, which was a bad decision on the vampire’s fault. The vampire tilted her head before running off with her meal, causing Amunet to roll her eyes as she tucked a stray hair behind her ear. “That’s what I thought.” She muttered before continuing on. Her goal was to kill her target by sunrise and she intended on doing that.

The heat of her target was close, very close. Amunet cast one quick look around to make sure no one would see before she let her demon form come out, her true form. She toned down the flames just in case before strutting into the alley like it wasn’t that big of a deal. The other demon didn’t seem to think the same thing as he immediately went on the offensive and grabbed Amunet by the throat, slamming her hard against the cement ground. A hiss shot through her teeth as soon as the impact registered as pain. “Oh, you’re going to pay for that.” She growled through her clenched teeth before she struck at her adversary and landed a blow that caused him to stagger long enough for her to get up.
After several exchanges of blows, her opponent finally had the upper hand and used it well to his advantage. His grasp was tight around her throat and was beginning to sting and she knew he was a water element type, but even worse than that was the repeated blows to her head on cement, brick, and steel. The blows were hard enough to make her return to her human form which made her a tad bit more vulnerable. Amunet began to gasp as the stinging increased along with the pressure he was applying to her wind pipes. He was going to decapitated her with his bare hands if she didn’t act fast, but the pain was hindering her thought processes. His claws grew and pierced the exposed flesh on her neck, causing her to let loose a gasping scream. Amunet couldn’t breathe and everything was spinning as a dark fuzz clouded her vision.

Eventually her body just went limp and she made weak attempts at screams that didn’t come out as much more than gasps and gurgles. Her opponent let go, but Amunet couldn’t get up. She couldn’t even remember what she was doing in the first place. The adversary knelt over her and chuckled. “That’s really pathetic. You can’t even keep your eyes open, looky there.” He laughed before spitting very close to her head. “Don’t worry. You won’t suffer much longer. I’ll make your end quick.” He said, stroking her hair which earned him a weak glare. His eyes shot up before he took off. Amunet gasped a few times before looking towards the direction her target turned assailant had looked before running off. The puncture wounds to her neck made it hard for her to breathe and she couldn’t do anything about it until she could think straight. “H-hey…” She tried weakly. A minute passed before she realized that wasn’t even audible. So she tried again after struggling to sit up and stay in a sitting position. “H-h-help…. Mmmm-me…” She stuttered in a shaky and raspy voice, looking through cloudy eyes at the other demon who looked a lot like a hunter. The type she would usually try to avoid, but the truth was she didn’t have much of an option at the moment.

(( GypsyDancer: It's awesome! Definitely more than just suffices :-) And I completely understand being busy... that's life.))

He had hesitated a moment too long. As Oz had turned the corner, he had been met with the sight of his prey huddled over its next victim, about to finish a kill. He should have reacted instantly, taken the demon out with his powers without even needing to think about it. Instead, he was distracted by the woman crumpled on the ground, desperately trying to gurgle pleas for assistance. Instead, Oz allowed the outlaw Demon, which had bolted at the sight of him, likely with the understanding that Oz's powers over water far exceeded its own, to escape. Running his hand back and forth over his short-cropped hair in frustration, Oz turned his full attention to the pathetic human on the ground. No... wait. She's not human. The rain kissing her skin as it fell sang to him of her physical make-up. She is Demoness! There was no blood gushing from her wounds, and, despite her human appearance, her internal temperature far exceeded what a human could survive.

His interest peaked, Oz crouched down near the female, taking in her wounds with a critical eye. She would live, as she hadn't been decapitated and her heart was still in place, but she must be in a lot of pain. His large hand cupped her chin, forcing her eyes to meet his. "Look at me, Demoness. Relax your body. You will heal from this shortly. Stay awake with me. This is no place to lose yourself." She felt like a furnace... Her power is fire. Oz wrinkled his brow in confusion. His king, Geoffrey, had not told him another hunter had been sent after his prey. Then again, this Demoness looked nothing like a hunter. Her frame was petite, her features delicate-looking. Oz felt a twinge of male instinct run through him, screaming at him to protect the female. He pushed it aside.

The sky was lightening even more, though the sun would not make an appearance on this day. What had been a scattered sprinkle was now becoming a rain shower, as the liquid fell faster from the too-dark clouds. Oz could tell it would be a downpour shortly. The rain also told him of activity nearby, the city beginning to wake for the day. He had no choice. He would get answers from her later. Releasing the female's chin, he slid her closer to his body, slipping one arm beneath her knees, the other reaching around the back of her shoulders. He lifted her up, cradling her slight form against his chest, and spoke to her as he began walking, "We need to get out of view or we will attract too much attention. Do you have a place I can take you, or would you prefer I bring you back to our plane?" He eyed the shadows as he passed them, ready to step into one at a moment's notice to travel to their world if needed.

((Eeps... sorry I had him pick her up... I'm kinda assuming she would be too weak to not allow him anyways. I won't manipulate your character all the time, I swear!! And I can edit the post so it doesn't happen if you want...))

GypsyDancer 10-26-2011 11:36 PM

((Ah, no that's fine. As long as you avoid things like "She kissed him back" in which you take total possession over my character without my consent, I'm fine with pretty much anything. XD ))

The haze has lifted from her vision, but her mind was still very much a scrambled jigsaw puzzle as the water demon spoke to her. Amunet was hearing him, but it took her a little longer than usual to actually process what he was saying as she was also focused on breathing. 'Relax, right. You're not going to die from this, just be uncomfortable. Okay... just calm down. Calm. Relax. No tension. DAMN IT! CALM DOWN!' She had to mentally yell at herself before she relaxed a little. She gasped a few more breaths before he picked her up which made her look at him. 'Okay... not on ground now. Okay. You're okay. You're fine. He just picked you up. You're okay. Chill out.' Her thoughts swirled in her head in a panic, but Amunet appeared fairly calm.

He had spoken again and she was mentally rambling on in her head. The hunter was asking something about where to take her.'Demon plane or candle shop-slash-home?' She thought a little fuzzily before her head jerked back when she realized it was lolling over to the side. "Off of James Street... there's a... candle shop... the back door..." She stopped to clear her throat so she could finish her sentence. "Is unlocked. Go up the stairs to the... apartment. It's unlocked too." Amunet knew telling some random Demon hunter where she lived was probably not very smart, nor was telling him which doors were unlocked. Many would think that leaving doors unlocked was very stupid, but the Demoness wasn't worried about losing anything since there was nothing there for her to lose.

The gentle rocking of his walking was making her rather sleepy, but she was doing her best to blink away sleep. It wasn't as easy as it looked considering her head kept wanting to go to one side and her eyelids kept growing heavy. "You could have gone after him you know. I would have understood. It's your job. Anyway, I'm sorry about that." She said in a voice that sounded out of it, but it was obvious that Amunet was fighting to keep herself all there.

(Warrow8282: I'm only doing this to make sure. XD Feel free to tell me to stop. Oh and this is kinda short-ish, but yeah... She's out of it. There's only so much detail she can notice and so much she can say.)
