Gemini laughed, a harsh, cruel sound."you're right, you can't have everything you want.and yet you try.you want me, but you cannot have me.you can't, and you never will.drag me off in chains? You'll be lucky to even touch me! You will never force me to do anything, especially marry you!" She said, her voice sounding cold, mocking and ruthless.her words were designed to anger the prince, to make him distracted."Ethan is ten times the man you'll ever be, and he's not even human! He's better than human, better than you!"

Gemini watched without flinching, making sure that her disdainful face was the last thing the prince ever saw.when he was well and dead, she turned to her father, who was at once furious and terrified."and now you, father." She said, saying the word as if it left a bad taste in her mouth.

The king stammered, trying to sound imperious but ending up whimpering like a frightened puppy instead."it is an honor for him, Ethan, to die by your hand." Gemini said.at her words, the king roared wordlessly and rushed at Ethan, sword drawn, intent on beheading him."I will kill you, demon, and then have that ungrateful bitch executed in front of the whole town!"

The king struggled, but he was weak with anger and fear.he dropped the sword and simply rushed at Ethan head on.Gemini watched impassively, knowing what the outcome would be.then at the last minute the king swerved and headed for Gemini.he pulled a dagger from his boot and pulled back to stab her.Gemini took a step back, stunned but couldn't move.she screamed as the dagger headed straight for her heart.she managed to turn just as it hit, but it still sunk deep into her abdomen.she let out a choking sound and fell, bleeding profusely, an expression of shock on her face.the king laughed and went to stab downward into his young daughter's heart.

Gemini gasped as she watched Ethan take the blow that was meant for her.he seemed alright for the most part,but still he was bleeding.she tried to stand up to help him but the pain in her abdomen struck her back down.meanwhile,the king backed away from Ethan.with no more weapons to trick with,he was up the creek without a paddle.Gemini watched the two men circle eachother.she watched Ethan swing,and she watched her father's stunned expression as his head fell clean off his body.the body fell,dead,and Gemini sighed in relief.she started crying as her head sunk to the ground,giving in to the pain.

Gemini gritted her teeth, determined not to gasp or show pain as she was lifted.she continued to cry softly, leaning her head against Ethan's chest."oh, Ethan...they're both dead now.my parents are both gone.I'm an orphan.I...I remember a time...when my father loved me.he held me up on his shoulders and laughed while I chased butterflies.he hugged me and read me stories at bedtime when I was sick.but then, after I met you that day, he suddenly started acting cold..." she trailed off, still crying."its like he was a different person completely." She added.

((Her father changing suddenly when she was young is linked to the nightmares she keeps having.I wont tell too much, cause I want it to be a surprise, but I think Gemini might realize that she's not an orphan after all.))
Gemini shook her head."it's not your fault.I don't think you made him different, not really.it just happened around that time.and I wouldn't trade that day for anything, ever." She said, starting to feel very tired."Ethan...? I'm sleepy..."

Gemini fought with all her strength to stay awake, though it was hard.she kept forgetting why she wasn't supposed to sleep.but Ethan said to stay awake.if that makes him happy, then I must... she thought weakly.it was so hard, though...suddenly, there was a sterile smell, too-bright lights, and bustle all around.a word floated through her mind, so fleeting she barely caught it.hospital yes, that's what this place was.nurses rushed towards Ethan and Gemini, seeing how badly wounded the two were.questions were flying back and forth as Gemini was recognized as the princess.she managed to mumble something about her father attacking her and her mother, a barely coherent story of how her friend Ethan risked his life saving her, even though her mother was already dead.after some translation, it was established that the prince, driven by insane jealousy, had used magic to control her father and make him attack.that after the horrible death of her mother, Gemini and Ethan had run into the forest, trying to escape.that the prince and king had caught up and battled Ethan, wounded Gemini, and finally had to be killed for the princess to be safe.once this story was in place, Ethan and Gemini were each taken into separate rooms for emergency care.Gemini floated in and out of consciousness, never sure of the time, until finally she settled into a deep sleep.

Gemini woke up slowly, trying to figure out where she was.it took a minute, but the memories from the night before came flooding back, crashing over her like a tidal wave and making her gasp for breath.blinking back tears, she took in her surroundings and noticed three things straight off.one, there was an iv in her arm, replenishing her red blood cell count no doubt.two, her entire torso was wrapped in bandages and numb.and three, she had to pee, very, very badly.she found a call button and pressed it, which brought a nurse bustling in and commenting on her health and how brave she was."I wasn't the brave one.Ethan is the one who saved me and fought off that horrible prince." Gemini said as the nurse helped her to the bathroom.once she was done, the nurse helped her back to her bed and asked if she was hungry."oh, yes! Starving!" Gemini answered.the nurse seemed pleased with this and took her order, then bustled out again to get her food- but not before reassuring Gemini that Ethan was safe and that she would be able to see him after breakfast.

After a particularly stressful breakfast- the nurse wouldn't leave the room until she had finished eating- Gemini promptly demanded to see Ethan.they gave her a bit of trouble, but eventually status won out, and they could not ignore their princess.she was dressed in a new robe and brought to Ethan's room.she also insisted that the iv be taken out.she walked in and saw Ethan, and lost her composure.she ran to his side and fell to her knees beside his bed."oh, Ethan, are you alright? Have they treated you well? I'm so sorry this happened.if it weren't for that nasty prince...oh, but thank you so, so much for saving me!" She sobbed, glad that the nursed had let them have some privacy."last night...Ethan, last night when the took me from you, and I could barely think, I wanted to tell you but I couldn't...and while they were working on me and I was in and out of consciousness, and I worried that they were doing the same things to you, that you were hurt and might die...and just before I passed out for good, I wanted to tell you and I was so worried that I might not get the chance..." she broke down then, sobbing and gasping, releasing all the tears that she had needed to shed since she was little."I w-wanted to t-tell you that I-I-I L-love you..." she managed to choke the words out past her sobbing, hitching breath.

Gemini sniffled and gasped, trying to control her sobbing.when he kissed her, she drew an involuntary breath, and her crying stopped suddenly.gently, carefully, she kissed him back, as if she was afraid he might disappear.after a moment, she drew back, tears still glistening on her cheeks and eyelashes.she looked at Ethan with pure adoration."I've never said that before.except to my parents.and only my mother ever said it to me.I never...I never realized how wonderful it feels to say those words to someone, and mean it more than anything." She confided."and it's even more amazing to hear someone say it to me.I never thought someone could feel like that towards me." She added.she placed her hand over his and squeezed gently."I want to keep saying it forever.I love you.I love you, Ethan." She said, her voice joyous.

For a while, Gemini was content to just stand there, hugging Ethan for a while.at least until a nurse came in and cleared her throat.Gemini frowned and turned to look at the woman."we wish to be discharged now." She said.the nurse blinked."I'm sorry, princess, but we cannot release you until the doctor-" Gemini cut her off "you will let us out of here, or we will simply leave.I wonder which would look worse on your record?" She said, her voice imperious.the woman turned red and stuttered for a moment, then gave up and handed them each release papers.Gemini signed hers and handed it back quickly, impatient to be out.
