Strange cases (Blissful/Night)
In a small windowless room special agent Kyle Jacobs sat at his desk in his rather lonely office. His last partner had been reassigned almost two years ago now and the department had been dragging their feet assigning anyone new.
He stopped filling out the report from his last case and looked over at the second and empty desk sat pushed up against the far wall. He had helped Agent Smith, his old partner, push it there just before they said good bye to each other. Smith had said this way Kyle would have more room to spread out in the office until he got a new partner. Kyle signed and shock his head as he dropped his pen on his desk and then robbed his eyes. Working alone the past two years had taken their toll on him. He only had human interaction when he was working a case or either handing in a case or getting a new case. His old chair creeks and whines as he pushes it back and then stands up. Kyle stood six and a half feet. He rubs his tired pale blue eyes again and then combs his fingers through his short brown hair. His body build was muscular but slim, which was mandatory for all male field agents. He looks over at the clock on the wall as he stretches, 4:20am. He had put in another all nighter just trying to get the paper work down. He pulls his suit jacket on and then pulls the case file on his desk together and grabs his keys before turning off his office lights and leaving. He drops his case file onto the directors secretaries desk and then heads home. |
Fresh out of the academy and at the top of her class Guinevere Bristow, at the age of twenty-three had finally landed herself first serious job. So to say the least she was a nervous wreak walking into the agency and all she could hear was the clicking of her heals on the tiled floor. Entering her assigned department exactly on time she soon found herself led to an office where there were two desks and hers was pushed up against a wall, the furthest one a way at that.
"I feel so welcome here." she muttered her green eyes scanning the room wondering what her partner would be like. In her mind she was already coming up with the worst case scenarios and plotting how she could move her way up the ranks. The idea of being someone's partner disgusted her, but in her eyes she needed to get trained in somehow. Thanking the angry looking agent for escorting her she went to her desk without a further complaint, adjusted the ponytail that held her curly, reddish-brown hair in a tight bun, and placed her things down in her designated area. Miss Bristow had never planned to work in law enforcement, she had been going to school to become a lawyer, and she was good at it. However a few, unpleasant, incidents later she found herself dropping out and joining a police academy with the only evidence of the incidents being a ring around her neck. No matter how much they asked her about she did not speak of it, she was a bitter and angry young woman that had quite a few secrets. Working with someone was the last thing she wanted. It didn't take long for Bristow to be out of the office and outside having a smoke, a bad habit she had planned to quit but never got around to it. There was not a thing she could do till her partner showed up, she was a novice, a trainee, she needed someone to guide her every move. A hollow laugh left her lips and she leaned against the brick wall impatiently waiting imaging what her partner would look like and she kept picturing a disgusting old man she could bend to her will. |
Pulling into his designated parking spot and in the parking garage Kyle then scrambled grabbed his suit coat and briefcase before running over to the elevator. Once he got into the elevator he took the chance to take a few deep breaths and tried to pull himself together.
Leaving so late last night, or rather this morning, he over slept and was running late. Letting out a breath he pulls his suit coat on and straightened his clothes. When the elevator finally stopped and let him out he just about sprinted down the hall and to his office. Not being stopped on the way to his office he lets out a relieved sigh once he's safe in his office. After hanging up his coat he goes over to his desk and starts to go over the new file sitting on his desk. |
At a leisurely pace Guinevere returned to her office only to find her partner at his desk staring a file. It shocked her how blind he was to his surroundings that he hadn't noticed her things in his personal space. If it were her she would of noticed instantly, everything had a designated area that fit into her daily routine. Leaning against the doorway she silently stared at him with a cup of coffee in her hand, one thing was for sure he was not at all what she expected, part of her was wishing he was an old decrepit man.
Getting agitated that he never noticed her she cleared her throat rather loudly in an attempt to get his attention. Upon her face was an annoyed and rather peeved look. This was her partner and he wasn't leaving a good impression on her. She would give him a week before she went to her boss demanding someone new and more fit for the job. |
"Agent Guinevere. I'm agent Kyle Jacobs. When ever you're done with your coffee brake we have a case to go over and then head out to the scene. I'm not sure what you're use to but we can go over the basics now and hit the dirty details on the way." He said waving in her direction not bothering to look up from the case file in front of him.
|
"I've been waiting for you to show up, you're late." she commented still standing in the doorway as she drank her coffee. "I just got out of school, never been out on the field, only behind a desk." she explained watching him and waiting. She had been ready to go since the second she entered the office now she was just waiting on him.
|
He quickly pulled the case file he was looking at back together and stood up. "I may have been a few minutes late but you were smoking. I can't smell it from here. Even right out of the academy you have to know that's against regulations for field agents." He pulls his suit coat on and looks at her.
"This is a heck of a way to start things off but we're on a dead line and need to hit the road. It's time sensitive so unfortunately there's no time for you to go home and pack." he said going up to her and offering her his hand. "Pleasure to meet you I'm sure. We'll have to go over the details on the plane." he says trying to get her to move out of the way. |
She laughed at his comment about her smoking, it was against regulations but that never stopped her. It wasn't like she let it get in the way of her job, she did it in her free time and her partner was late so she took the opportunity to do just that. "Like I didn't know that, still hasn't stopped me." she spoke nonchalantly, accepting his hand before moving out of his way.
"Sorry, I'm not a girl that panics when she can't have her things with her." she said waiting to lead the way and fill her in on the rest of the details. All she could do was follow him around for now. |
Leading the way to the elevator he shakes his head at her. As the elevator doors open up on to one of the floors of the parking garage he quickly leads the way through the sea of cars and to his car.
Once they were in his car he handed her the case file and gave her a chance to look it over while they were making it through the security that was watching the exit of the parking garage. After he pulled out onto the freeway he looked over at her. "There's been a rash of killings in a small farming community in Montana. The local law enforcement doesn't know what to do. Those closeup photos make it hard to let much about the victim but they're all cattle. I think it's a simple case of the local teens trying to find something to fill their time. But we've been asked to look into it so that's what we're going to do." he says keeping an eye on her as she looks through the file. |
Gabyrel flipped through the case file skimming over things and through reading the important information. Taking one of the photos out to look at it closely she laughed at his theory of teens doing it. "I couldn't see a bunch of teenagers killing cows, tipping them maybe but not killing. Doesn't seem right..." she murmured wanting to get a close up of the animals. What when was used, was a gun involved because taking a full grown cow out by hand wouldn't of been easy. "Did most of the killings happen at night? And was any weapon involved?" she asked wondering if he would at least have the answers as she leaned back in the passenger seat trying to get comfortable. Now that she was in a vehicle she removed her heels to give her feet a rest.

ooc: sorry it took so long life stuffed happened. im going to push things forward a little
ic: Looking over at her watched her a little as she went through the file. "Doesn't really matter if we're talking country kids or city kids if they get bored enough they'll come up with all kinds of ideas to entertain themselves. Killing animals isn't as far fetched as you might think especially if the kid is trying to act out because of a strict parent. We'll find out for sure when we get there." he nodded at her question. "One of those pictures shows some kind of puncture but it's hard to tell what was from. The report doesn't give any theories either, it just says that the animals were found the next day. Some of them were bleed till they died while others looked like they were literally ripped to pieces. Some were found out in the field some were in barns. It doesn't look like there's really any consistency." He signs and rests an arm against the drivers side door. "If this isn't just a bunch of kids acting out then it might be the makings of a serial killer trying to work out some kind of signature for themselves." he looks at her again. "If this is some kind of serial killer then it might not to long until we start seeing human victims." Another 45 minutes later he pulled off onto the exist that headed for the airport. Finding a parking spot in the long term parking lot he parked under a tree and looked over at her again. "They gave us first class so we should be able to more on the plan." he said pulling out two tickets from the inside pocket of his suit jacket. |
