~He's the devil~
Jake yawned, bored stiff and completely annoyed with his father. "Come on dad! You're the freaking devil and you get pissed because your son acts like the spawn of the devil? Ugh! You're impossible!" He left the room in a big tantrum that seemed rather childish. This wouldn't be his first trip to the surface. No, Jake had been in the world of the human's many times, though he could only come at night seeing ad how he was rather bust during his days. Being the son if the devil was a tough job and well, honestly it required a lot of his time. During the nights though, his company was not required, nor requested, so he was free to do as his little demon self wished. His main hobby was to look around the world of the strange and rather pretty creatures known as humans. They were so much like people in the underworld it seemed. They were feeling, intelligent beings. The only downside was there life span. Jake would live forever. I mean, he'd already drank from the cup of hell and getting older or aging or any sort was impossible now. Humans on the other hand, they live an average of sixty to eighty years, maybe less and it was kind of stupid to become involved with them even as just friends. It just wasn't worth the heart ache that would come with losing them. He stopped thing about all of that to go ahead and do what he'd come for in the first place. A big hobby of Jake's was to give these people what they wanted, but with a devastating price. He was a soul eating demon, and so he really liked to consume other souls for extra power. These people would give up just about anything for the looks or objects they wanted. Even sell their souls. Tonight he was just sitting out in the back yard of someone, waiting for some dumb girl or woman to cone and then he'd over them completely perfect beauty. zIt seemed a flawless plan. |
Avril sighed as she steppdover the threshold of her house and outside. She locked the door behind her and got into her car. Its been four months since she'd gotten her own place, broken up with her boyfriend, lost her best friend in a car accident, and got a job working at the crappiest place in town. She was a chier at the local grocery store. And of course her selfish, bastard of a boss made her work nights. She closed the door of her Ford and cranked on the radio. She'd do anything to drown out her whole life. Just become numb and sepperated. Her parents had bassicaly kicked her out when they found out she didnt plan on becoming a doctor or a lawyer like they'd always wanted. And her boyfriend dumped her as soon as she met some slutty, preppy, perfect b*tch. And her best friend had been in a car crash with a few drunk friends and died. She despised the few who walked away from the crash with minor injeries. Why couldnt her friend had lived? She'd been an over all good person. Avril cranked up the radio, determind to get lost in the music and dround out the rest of the world. She had nothing else left. Had she done something wrong? She had no idea. It seemd all the bad things happend to good people and all the good to the bad. But what was she? Could she even be considerd good? What about bad? Avril brushed her blond hair away from her face and pulled into the driveway of her work. She got out, slammed the door shut, locked it and trudged inside, hating every aspect of her life.

After stealing about six souls, Jake was bored and no longer wished to do his evil bidding. All he wanted now was to find something amusing to do here in the world of the humans. He saw that as he walked by, people would stare at him, no doubt able to sense the fact that he wasn't like them. Being a demon, his presence held a certain aura about it. A deathly one that suggested he was nothing but pure evil stuffed into a body. If one really thought about it, he really was pure evil, but he still had feelings and such. He walked and walked, not knowing what to do or why to do it. He smirked as rain began to pour, soaking him and making his shaggy black hair hang in his face. He looked extra sinister and his clothes clung to him, showing a gaunt, unhumanly pale body. His vividly green eyes shined like a cats in the dim moonlight and he walked with a slight quirk in his step. This was what he was. Children could sense him better than adults and as he walked by, toddlers clung to their mothers tightly and infants screamed, crying with fear for the soul eating demon. That's when he was grabbed by his hair and pulled into an ally. He groaned painfully, but didn't frown. "Well, well...why would someone so young be walking around alone at night in a neighborhood like this one?" One guy asked, laughing. Jake laughed too, his soft but dark laughter causing the man to stop for a moment. "My question is, why does trash like you think he can defeat the spawn of satan himself? Hmmm?" He turned his head sideways and reveled a birthmark on the right side of his neck. It was a pentagram with the top point elongated. The devil's mark. The guy laughed again, clearly thinking that Jake was just trying to scare him. With a flick of his wrist, Jake created blue flames, hot as he'll itself and melted every one of the men standing near him, nothing left of them but ash. He continued his little walk until he became tired, sitting a top of a car outside a grocery store, leaning back and sighing. He was half tempted to go to sleep out here. |
Avril stomped out the door, her shift was finnaly over and she wouldnt have to deal with her dick of a boss for at least another twelve hours. She reached up to her ponietail and yanked off the rubber band holding her long, thick, blond hair off. Her hair cascaded down her sholders and to her upper back. She untied the strap holding her apron to her and tore it off her body. Underneath she was wearing a thin, long sleaved, black shirt. And around her waist was a pair of hip hugging, black shorts. The cool brisk air created goosebumps on her exposed flesh. The cold of the night, and the anger and hate she felt for her life were the only things that felt real anymore. She cracked her knuckles and reajusted the necklace she was wearing. It was a small, three pointed shape within a circle. She couldnt remember how or why she'd came to own it, but she never took it off. She just couldnt bring herself to do it for some reason. She got to her car and just leand on it. She didnt open it, or even unlock it. She just stood there.
Jake looked curiously at a girl who had stormed out of the store and grinned. She was clearly upset and he sensed that in this clearly emotional state, she might be vunrable to his trickery. He hopped off of the car he'd been laying on and circled around, closer and closer to her, studying here, trying to find a weakness that she might have. He pushed his black hair back just a little so it wasn't completly covering his eyes. He knew that with his black hair and pale skin he was rather attractive to the average teenage human girl. He looked like a vampire, or like some sort of undead creature. This girl had the whole 'gothy emo chick' appearance and he wondered if maybe he could seduce her into giving up her soul. Another look at her told him she wasn't weak and it would be tougher than simply flirting to take this girl to hell. "Hello." he said, his rich voice quiet and shy mixed with a bit of curiousity. "I can't help but see that you've been upset. Maybe I can help?" He asked, green eyes glowing at her sinisterly. He tried to keep control of his appearance for now, hiding his real form. The real Jake had a tail and bat-like wings that had been pierced, bearing rings. He had to alter his human appearance to hide these traits, but it was easier said than done. "I'm Jake." He said, wondering if he was getting her attention at all. |
Avril herd someone approching her and she reached her hand into her pocket where a knife was hiding. She was prepared to kick whoever it was ass. She slowly turned her head, looking him over through her long blond hair. She pusher her hair out of her face with her unoccupied hand. "What's going on with me is none of your buissnes." She said. She knew how this routine worked. The guy would pretend to want to help. Then he'd jump her and take all her things. Possibly even rape or kill her. But no one had ever gotten farther than an agressive approach with her. She sort of liked it when people like this underestamated her. Because she was a female the assumed she was helpless. "Go screw with someone else," She said, "Im not in the mood." She turned around so her whole body was facing him. Her hand sitll hidden away, clutching her knife. She thought he was interesting. He looked like he had been through hell. His clothes were wet from the rain and his black hair was matted and untamed. His pale skin was a stark contrast to the black night that engulfed him. His name was Jake, huh? She couldnt help but think it suited him.
Jake yawned, acting bored, but honestly amused. "You can leave the knife in your pocket girly. I'm certainly not here to hurt you else you'd be dead as a doornail already." He stared at her, his pupils narrowing a bit, looking slightly cat-like. "Anyway, I already know what's wrong with you, and, well, I can help. It's your zboss is it not? He's an asshole, I know. You see little girl, I am a demon and for a small price I can rid you of him and give you anything else your heart desires. Beauty, fame, riches, anything." He gave a sinister smile. "Simply tell me what it is that you want." he wondered how she'd react. If she was like most humans, she wouldn't believe a word he was saying and he'd have to prove it to her. He hated having to explain things and shoe proof to humans. They were so annoying with their distrust. They found anything that they couldn't see was impossible. Then again, maybe she'd just be afraid. That happened sometimes too. He pushed his matted black hair up further from his face as it fell down over his eyes. It was still soaked along with his clothes. "Maybe you could give me a ride home? I'd pay you..." He said, not really feeling like walking at the moment. He also still wanted the chance to convince her to give away her soul. He was hungry for power and the only way he could get that power was to take the souls of others. He needed the power because he planned on over throwing his father. It was an elaborate plan he'd already formed and now he just needed the power. |
Avril crossed her arms under her chest, "First of all, Jake," she spat out his name, her voice dripping with vennom, "Im not little. And seccond of all, if your a demon why would you choose me to come after? There are far powerfull people out there. Besides, why would you want a broken soal?" She asked. She pulled out her keys and unlocked the car's doors. "Tell me on the way. And dont even think of trying anything funny. Im stronger than I look." She warned, remembering how she always used to get into fights. Sometimes even with guys. She won everytime. She threw her long, full, and now damp blond hair behind her sholders and slid into the drivers side and put the keys in the ignition. She waited for him to make up his mind about getting in. She could really care less if he got in or not.
Jake climbed into the car, laughing. "I'm immortal, so I wouldn't underestimate me either. I have a nasty little habit of not dying and then haunting the dumb asses who hurt me." He climbed into the car. "First, you are little. Don't deny it. Second, a broken soul is so much tastier than a whole one, third of all, if your soul is broken, you are more vunrable a victim." He lit his finger tips with fire and played with the blue flame, flicking it around. He'd allowed himself to take his full demon form, long tail flicking back and forth and his batty wings curled up against his body. His jagged teeth made his lips look slightly pouty. "So, do you doubt that I am what I say I am? Because you seemed a but skeptic in the parking lot." He continued to play with the blue flame that was literally hot as hell. He made it form shapes and such, just having fun with it.
Avril chuckled softly. For some reason she wasnt freraked out. She was just indifferent. She glanced at him as she twisted around so she could safely back out of her parking space. "Honestly, I never doubted you. Anything is possible. I just dont understand why you'd waste your precious time on me." She hit the gass and accelorated out of the parking lot and away from her horrible job. "Where to?" She asked, unsure of why he couldnt just find his way there on his own. After a while of pondering that thought, she desided that she didnt care about that either. Maybe she was going insane. She had to be. She had willingly invited a 'demon' into her car and was now driving who the hell knew where with him. She, in a way, thought it was amusing how he implyed that thought she was weak or frail. Or something along those lines. She was anything but.
Jake shrugged. He didn't know anything about the human world or where he needed to go. He just didn't want to go home. "I don't care, just drop me off somewhere warm and dry. The rain was good for a little while, but now it's rather chilly." He didn't have any money either which was extremly annoying. "Is there any place free to stay for a night?" He asked, wondering if everything had a charge around here. It seemed so odd that humans charged for everything. He yawned and curled up in the car seat. "Maybe I'll just sleep here.." He said, taking on the form of a small black cat. He found that it was easier to get confortable on the car seat if he was smaller. His cat form was perfect. |
Avril rolled her eyes. Just what she needed, a demon cat sleeping in her car. What would happen to her if someone found out and turned her in? Not just for animal crulty but also for being compleatly insane! She was holding a demon cat in her car! She pulled up to her house and looked at Jake, "Your not staying out here. Your comming inside. And this is an appartment, so no magic or whatever unless your sure no one can see you." She said. She took the keys from the ignition, got out of the car, and held her door open so he could jump out. Avril scolded herself in her mind. How on earth could she let a supposed demon sleep under the same roof as her? She hadnt hit rock bottom before, she decided. Oh, no. Far from it. This was rock bottom.
Jake moewed as an only response. He knew that he'd best stay in his cat form until they got inside. He jumped up onto her shoulder, not feeling like walking. He made a little purring noise and rubbed his little furry head up against her affectionally. He was really grateful that she'd let him stay with her. He hadn't really thought most people would allow that these days with all of the crazy folks that were prowling around. There were human beings who acted even worse than demons in this world. He wondered just how long she'd let him stay here. A few days maybe? He had enough gold with him to exchange for her kindness, but he'd leave it whenever he went home so it would be a surprise.
Avril giggled as Jake rubbed up against her, "Now, dont think that just because your a cat right now means that im going to forget what you reslly are." She said in a joking tone. For some reason she was feeling a lot better now. Maybe it was the company thing. Perhaps she should look into buying a cat after Jake left and went back to.. well, Hell, she was guessing. She closed the car door and locked it. She began walking up the steps towards her apartment and unlocked her door. It was still pretty empty although it had been a whole four months since she'd moved in. For some reason she could never bring herself to call this place her home. She just felt..out of place here. As she stepped over the threshold and onto her tiled floor she shut the door behind her and sighed. "Well, its not much but here it is." She said. Her apartment had a total of one bathroom and one living room/ dining room/ kitchen/ bedroom. She had a small closet she'd built herself in the corner of the room. And next to it was a TV. Accross from that was a fouton. She supposed that was all she really needed in a bedroom. There was a small divider that sepperated the kitchen, which contained a stove, microwave, blender, refrigerator, counter top, sink, dishwasher, and a few good sized cabinets. "Make yourself at home." She said to Jake. "It doesnt really matter to me where you sleep, as long as I get at least half of the fouton." She said.
Jake jumped off of Avril's shoulder as soon as they got in the apartment. He weaved his way in and out of her legs, rubbing up against her and then making the most adorable "Meow." he possibly could. It was after that he turned back into his normal form with his wings, tail, and human body. He smirked and then walked up behind Avril, making a purring noise that wasn't quite as good as when he was really a cat. He walked past her, letting his tail rub against her back. "Nice place you have her." He said, looking around. "This futon is pretty small for two. Looks like I'll be sleeping as a kitty tonight." He said. Curling up beside her would be easy as a cat and she probably wouldn't mind having him really close to her if he was in the form. He looked around, observing and then going and finding a towel. "I am about to use your shower." He annonced, sheding his clothing wothout caring she was there. He walked off to the bathroom and then got in the shower, washing away grime and rain. When he was done and had used all of her hot water, he blow-dried his hair. "So..I don't have any clothes..." He said, walking into her room and looking in her closet. He knew his hips were small enough to fit her pants and he wasn't really thick in the chest either. He grabbed a pair of plaid sleep pants and a gray tank top that made him look a bit to fruity, but would have to do for now. His hair was now freash, fluffy, and silky. It hung like a curtain almost over his eyes but not quite. He tossed his head to shake the access strands back away from his face and then plopped down in the floor and stared at Avril. "Do you wanna play a game?" He asked, grinning mischeviosly. He liked games and had a great one in mind. |
Avril shilded her eyes as Jake got out of the shower and fished through her closet. As soon as she saw what he'd picked to wear she had to suppress a huge fit of laughter. As soon as she cou.d breath normaly again she nodded, "Why not." She said. "What type of game?" She asked as she sat down in front of him. She crossed her legs in her lap and stared at Jake.
Jake sat with her and thought for a second. "Ooo! I know! Let's play truth or dare." He grinned and then heard a noise at the door, kind of a knock. He ran as fast as he could, turning back into a cat and scrambling under Avril's futon thingy. He guessed her door hadn't been locked because he heard the person enter. He could hear a voice that could be none other than his fiancé. His father had arranged his marrige to her, and she was practically in love with him. His problem was the fact that he didn't even like her a little. "How dare you go and steal my Jakey-poo!" She yelled at Avril. "I know he's here, I can smell 'em." Jake thought this chick was real creepy, I mean, who says they can 'smell' their lover. She finally found him and picked him up by his tail, just more proof that she wasn't very smart. He hissed and growled until she dropped him and then turned back into a demon, his tail ripping through Avril's pants he was wearing. He had to take the tank top off because it constricted his wings. She stared at the girly clothing with confusion. "Jakey baby, why are you wearing girly pants?" She asked And he shrugged. "Ok, Marale, I'm gay.." He said making her gasp. "W-What? But...but..you're supposed to be mine!!!" She whined and then went back to hell acting like a complete child and pouting as she went. Jake slumped to the floor and sighed, completly relived that he'd made her go away. He sooo hated that girl. "For the record, I'm completly straight and that creep was my fiancé of whom I hate." he explained and then just sat there, moping because his day was now ruined. He'd left to escape his home, but it seemed that even when he ran away someone always knew where he was.
Avril crossed her arms, "Well she just seems delightful! Doesnt she!?" She said sarcasticaly. Avril began to mumble as she went to close and lock her door. She threw the dead bold as well. "What the hell is her problem!?" Avril asked. She hadnt even talked to the girl really and she alredy knew that she hated her guts! She didnt know exactly what it was, but for some reason when she touched Jake Avril fealt the need to kill her. She coluldnt figure out wh though. "Why would you want a girl like that!?" Avril asked, venome caoting each of her words.
Jake scrunched up his nose. "I don't want her. That was my dad's choice..he arranged us to be married, and quite honestly I think she's an annoying little bitch." He sighed. "She's crazy.." he added. "Besides, why are you so upset by it? I mean, she's my problem, not yours..if it's because she busted in your house, I'm quite sorry..it won't happen again." He laid on the floor, his tail whipping nervously. "Gosh...I really don't want to go back home.." He grumbled. He knew he was going to be dead meat for making his fiancé mad.
Avril turned back towards Jake, "What gave you the impression that I got upset?" She asked, attempting to hide her disscomfort. She had a feeling sdhe was failing misserably. "And who says you have to go home?" She asked. "Cant you just never go back?" She asked, a tiny sliver of hope shining through into her words. Avril hated herself. She probobly sounded so pathetic and dcesprate to get him to stay with her.
Jake cocked a single eyebrow. "Yep, you're upset. I guess I could stay...." He was smirking at her. "You like me don't you?" He taunted. "I can tell you like me 'cause you're acting like it.." He got closer. "You're sooo cute when you act like this.." He knew flirting with her was stupid. She may not even really lime him in that way, but then, maybe she did. |
Avril scofed, "What gave you that impression?" She asked, not meeting Jake's eyes. "Catch!" She said, changing the subject as quickly as she could. She threw a blanked at his head and went into her kitchen area for a glass of water. She wasnt exactly the best canidate for the topic of affection. She finnished her watter and threw her cup into the sink carelessly.
He shrugged. "Well why should stay if you don't like me?" He asked, a cute little pout forming on his face. He caught the blanket and then laid down on the floor covering himself. "I'll stay tonight, but tomorrow I'd best be getting home." He said, a tiny little smile on his face.
