Tales of Survival

- The Background -

In a land where dragons are hunted for their power and very skin, the beasts have become nearly extinct. They are cautious and do not broadcast their presence, even if they must mingle with humans.

Humans were once a weak race, and every other race came to see them as "lesser." The past century has changed that: the humans are now the rulers of the land and will bow to no country or foreigner. They strive to grow further, and become strong enough to oppose any and every opposition.

Elves have slowly faded back, knowing that if they attack the humans they will end up like the once-mighty dragons: nearly extinct. Humans have successfully struck fear into the hearts of the other races and now own more than half the land in the realm.

Quote:

Annuin

Age: Around twenty, still seen as adolescence to elves
Race: Elf
Rank or job: Rogue elf
Hometown: A city far into the forest made of things long since lost to the humans
Bio: Annuin was once a royal, her father was at the head of the council. Someone murdered her father and she was wrongfully accused but for some reason they can not see the truth. Or do not want to. She was chased away and had been hiding ever since, trying to gather evidence.
Personality: Calculative, tempermental, secretly feminine and compassionate
Likes: Animals, solitude, night and art
Dislikes: Closed in spaces, following orders
Description: Her skin glows a moon light white, her hair is white with colours that sheen through it like light. Her eyes are a pale silver framed by thick eye lashes. Her ears come to a long, tapering point and earrings decorate the length of each ear. She has tattoos along most of her body that are a silver like her eyes but they are markings given to most elves from her family.
Quote:

“Kadaj”

Age: Roughly thirty – truly young for a dragon.
Race:Dragon – takes human form when he can.
Rank or job: Crazed dragonian youth that’s out for trouble
Hometown: A mountain area where many races don’t dare go – nesting ground.
Bio: Not one to take to rules or leadership, Kadaj swiftly became addicted to adventures and the rush of danger. Leaving his nesting den, as most dragons no longer do (not since the humans began to flourish, anyway), the youth now spends his days looking for trouble and sport . . . in knights, princesses, poor travelers . . . you name it, he’s seen (or eaten) it.
Personality: Brash, stubborn, and occasionally immature, Kadaj comes off as a real jerk. In certain moments, he is the complete opposite . . . but one can only wonder if he is using those moments to get what he wants in the long run.
Likes: Danger, trouble, and anything that gets his blood pumping.
Dislikes: Heat, the sun, small animals.
Description: Eyes are slitted, as is common amongst the dragons. Hair is silver, which is another dead giveaway that he’s a shifter. His dragon form is silver, just like his hair.

- The Story -

Quote:

The night air was cool enough to make his breath turn to mist before him. Holding a hand to his side, the young man stumbled into the village, gritting his teeth. Glancing about, he slowly headed for the nearest building - a mere stable. It suited his purpose.
Once inside the structure, Kadaj collapsed into a bit of golden hay, scattering the dusty strands about the stall. This wasn't quite allowed, but the man didn't have time to think about that. Complete exhaustion and pain overwhelmed him, and his head swam as he forced himself to stay awake.
The sound of hooves striking stone caused Kadaj to flinch, pulling back into the shadowy nook he rested in. If they found him now, his death was at hand. He was too weak to fight back at that moment. His energy was endless - until a point. He didn't tire until a specific point, and when he did, it caused him to go into a state of complete weakness. When he was younger, the doctors called it a sickness. Kadaj had labeled it as a disease; a mark of his existence in a land of his dying breed.
Barely able to move, the young man wheezed, coughing as quietly as he could. As his own body seemed to grow ever more heavy, Kadaj let his head lean against the wood behind him. There was nothing he could do but wait. If they found him, then so be it. If not . . . then he would live to see another day. He ran his fingers over the slender chain that hung from his neck, the small blue crystal that hung just below his collar bone.
At the sounds of his enemy's passing, Kadaj closed his green-streaked blue eyes. Letting himself drop into a deep sleep, he lost track of the world and the passing of time.

Shots rang out in the night air once again. The sound crisp in the empty road. Light footsteps fell as a figure darted between buildings and the like. Other followed not too far after it, angry voices yelling but strangely muffled by the blackness of the night. They had gone too far, the humans had decided then, all thanks to one rouge elf. One of them goes bad, and the others follow, right? Humans, they could be so stupid and foolish and that was one reason other races were not so fond of the human race.

Annuin was one of those people. A moonlit skinned elf with white hair and glowing silver tattoos was what ran through the night. She had gone and set off a bunch of fire crackers. Harmless and fun, right? Causing trouble was nothing new to the elf but apparently the humans were afraid of her and her apparent 'fire' magick. That made her chuckle. She did not possess the powers of fire but more of spirit. The humans were so, so... presumptious.

The elf finally found a stable to hide in. The soft moon light illuminated her for a moment. She was dressed in traditional elven clothing- a simple light weight, gauzy dress with slits up the sides and a pair of lace up sandals that were part of her heritage as well. She never liked the clothes humans made. They were so caging and stifilndg. The humans were getting closer. She ran into the stables, ankle length locks flowed after her, never seming to tangle.

Annuin got further in and froze. she pushed outward with the spirit energy, something inside here was weak and on the line of possibly losing conscience. She blinked and followed into the darkness where this came from. A form was there. A male of sorts. Why was he here?

"Hello?" She asked softly, her accent heavy in her voice.

((:XD The first link for my picture didn't work. *sticks it in again*))

It felt so nice to just . . . rest. Darkness clawed at the edges of his vision, and after Kadaj closed his eyes it seemed to consume him. Unfortunately, he didn't get the sleep he so desperately needed.

A sense of commotion made Kadaj force his eyes open again. He'd just been sinking into rest when he heard the sounds approaching. He narrowed his eyes, pulling himself farther back into the shadows of the stable. Just as he'd done so, someone entered.
Kadaj's blue eyes narrowed further. Instead of preparing to fight, as he usually would have, he sank back and fell completely still. Unfortunately, the pale girl seemed to see him anyway. Her accented voice made Kadaj raise an eyebrow - that voice wasn't human. It was far too musical and . . . different.

Eying the newcomer for a few moments, the silver-haired male finally chose to speak. "Keep your voice down," he hissed, coughing lightly after the words left his lips. Kadaj was frowning up at the female as he took in her ankle-length hair and shining eyes. Something about her was . . . very different. Her glowing markings and pointed ears stood out fairly obviously, and Kadaj couldn't help but stare for a few moments. He hadn't seen an elf in what felt like centuries. In fact, the young male had never seen an elf.
"Are you of elven blood?" Kadaj asked, unable to keep his curiosity to himself. Just as he asked, though, he frowned again. "Get down. I don't need anyone knowing I'm here."

Weakly pushing himself back again, dragging himself through a bit of straw-filled darkness, the male sucked in a pained breath. Kadaj's hand pressed tightly to his left side. He'd been wounded in his last scuffle with the humans. Sadly, they didn't take his being a dragon too kindly. They hated the beasts, and when Kadaj readily made himself obvious . . . well, let's just say they saw only the flash of the gold they'd receive upon gutting a dragon.
Luckily dragon-blooded creatures healed swiftly . . . but not quick enough to stop the pain and blood.

FallenDove 03-29-2012 02:19 AM

Annuin blinked, he wasn't human. That was for sure. She was not liking the way the male spoke to her but he seemed in pain. And in need of healing. She could do that, through touch, if he wanted, to help speed along the healing. She knelt down next to him and leaned in a little closer. She wondered what he was. She had heard tales of dragons- but they had retreated, she had tought. Ironically, though, so had her own race. His guessing her race did not suprise her. It was painfully obvious what she was and she hd no skill at personal glamour.

"Fine," She frowned, "But let me help you." She said, inspecting him slightly. She pushed at his energy slightly but it did not give. His mind and aura was made of different things than those idiots that had been chasing her. She was a little roughed up from running, and slightly ired from the impromptu split from the human amp but she was definitely better off than this male here.

"Oh, and yes, I am of elven blood." She left it at that, not wanting to elaborate anymore. She did not know his name, even and so she was not aboutto express her inner demons then. Or what she had done.... well, apparently done, according to the other elves. This was the first time in forever since she had seen another out and about, away from their own kind. She did not want to let this experience go to waste.

"You'll have to let me touch you though..."

Esmme 03-29-2012 02:35 AM

When the girl leaned in a bit closer, Kadaj glared at her with a force that would have made a weaker willed individual pause. This pale-skinned girl did no such thing: she merely inspected him from a distance. That distance was shorter than Kadaj might have liked, but he wasn't able to push her off. Instead, he looked over her glowing markings and strange appearance once more. It was honestly something he appreciated: humans didn't hold the same elegance as the elves. He'd heard of it for years, but it was very different seeing one of their kind in the flesh.
While Annuin seemed to inspect him, Kadaj inspected her. She was elven, as she admitted to. His glowing eyes scanned over her narrow features and light clothing, and then moved back up over her form to meet her eyes. He felt a kind of pressure on his mind, though it was hardly noticeable. "I don't need or desire your help," Kadaj said, wrinkling his nose as though the thought was the worst thing that could possibly happen to him.

"I don't want you touching me," Kadaj hissed, his slitted eyes narrowing further. Just as he said as much, a fit of coughing came over him. If he kept it up, they would both be found. It was many moments later when he finally managed to rasp out a different reply.

"Fine." When he pulled his hand away from his side, dark blood coated his fingers. His black clothing was sticky with the warm liquid, and the gash that ran over his side was more than half a foot long. It would heal swiftly in time, but so much movement and impending danger wasn't the best thing for him. Kadaj would have done well with a nice meal and a couple days of sleep.
He'd reached his limit, and that meant he was going to be a weak, pathetic human for a time. As a dragon, it was the worst feeling in the world. The consequences of his sickness were just that: there was a limit to his power. Just seeing this elven girl brought curiosity into Kadaj's mind. She obviously held some sort of energy. Perhaps she would heal him just enough to help?

"It's deep."

FallenDove 03-29-2012 02:46 AM

Annuin knew he was inspecting when she had him. If he was what she suspected, then it would explain plenty of things about him. One of the simplest of those things was his stubborn attitude. She chuckled on the inside just at the thought of it. Maybe he was not a dragon at all but a mule or donkey shifter. Now, that was something to laugh at in the middle of a situation like this. She tried not to let her amusement show as she went and reached for the wound. It was deep as he had said. Atleast he was complying with her now.

"Alright, not being a true healer, it will not all be healed. I can get the worse of the damage but the bleeding will still happen for a little while. I can not clost it completely, with it being so deep." She said, placing her hands a half inch above his wound. She concentrated her energy, causing her markings to glow a bit brighter and for a heat to waver off of her. She pushed that energy outward, into the wound. he visualized the flesh knitting itself back together. She remained still as she did this, the humans were quite close but she could not let that break her concentration.

Five minutes later, energy slightly spent, she let go of it. Glancing at the wound, she saw now that it was a little less in length but still trickled blood though it was obviously less deep than it had been moments before, "Now, that will be sore for awhile because of the rapid healing. Don't do anything stupid while something like that is mending itself up," She lectured, though she was sure he already knew how to take care of himself, "I am .... Annu, by the way."

Esmme 03-29-2012 03:04 AM

((BWAHAHAHAH!!!! *tries to imagine someone as serious as Kadaj as a mule*))

The slightest flicker of amusement filled the woman's eyes, though Kadaj couldn't figure out why. After a few moments of silence, the male nearly snorted in distaste. Leave it up to one of the other races to be laughing in the middle of a tense situation for no reason.
Kadaj rolled his eyes when he heard her speaking of not being a true healer. "That's all I need," he said moodily, tossing silver hair from his face as he felt her hands rest on him. The warmth was distracting, and Kadaj eyed her warily for a while before he saw her features fall into a still concentration. While Annuin began to use her energy to heal him, the male examined her still face. She was pretty, to be certain. Her markings illuminated the area slightly, allowing them both to see more clearly for a few brief minutes.

After the time finally expired, Kadaj found that he could breathe more easily. Experimentally taking a deep breath, the male smiled wryly. For not being an experienced healer, she still had the power to patch him up a bit. It was all he needed. Now, at least, he could move without leaving behind a trail of blood that screamed out his presence.
"I can take care of myself," he said bluntly, meeting the woman's gaze as she started to lecture him. Sadly, the statement wasn't as strong as it should have been. Kadaj had needed Annuil to heal him. . . .

When she introduced himself, his slitted eyes narrowed again. Sitting up into a more comfortable position, he took another deep breath before speaking. "Kadaj," he replied. And then, out of sheer boldness (and being raised in his draconic culture) the male reached forward. With a surprisingly cold grip, he snagged Annu's wrist and pulled it toward him.
Flipping it so he could touch the more sensitive side of her arm, Kadaj slowly drew in a breath from the elf's wrist all the way up until he was scenting her shoulder. She had a more wild scent than the humans. They smelled like musky wood and animals, while Annu reminded him of forests and wilderness.

Apparently that was how dragons shook hands.
Kadaj released Annuin's wrist, slowly leaning back against the stable's wall. "Why do you hide from them, Annu? As far as I am aware, the humans and elves are not enemies." His tone was just as cold as his touch, though Kadaj seemed to be satisfied with having Annuil there with him now.

FallenDove 03-29-2012 08:00 PM

(Haha, I did not think it would be that funny. XD)

Annuin raised a slim, white eyebrow at him, meaning she had not believed him about not needing help. He had obviously needed it and he knew it. Without her, he probably would have been stuck here fora few days. Maybe a week. She did not know much about shifters in general, expecially the type she as guessing to be. She tilted her head, inspecting his slitted eyes and silver hair. He was more built than she was, him being a shifter and she an elf. He was quite attractive, she would not deny even if he radiated coldness to her warmth. She wanted to roll her eyes at him an scold him as if he were child. But, the next moment, she knew he was far from childish.

She felt her breath catch when he had grabbed her wrist, shivering slightlyat the contact to her sensitive skin. She drew her breath in slowly as he did what he wanted, feeling no danger. It excited her, not pleasant, but not completely unpleasant either. It would hae been different if he had warned her first. Something about him was a cause to be wary but she could not hel bu be amused by this male. She was rather glad she ran into him, even if it was not under ideal circumstances.

"Ah, you want to know that?" She frowned, shifting slightly so she was more comfortable, and to give herself a moment to think about it. She did not want to reveal too much but he was just a shifter, out on his own apparently. She could escape, probably, with him in his injured state. What was the harm in telling? Next to none, she decided. All assassin attempts had been called off, "Well, I kind of pissed the humans off I guess," A hald grin played on her full lips, "Now, why are you here?" It was her turn to be curious.

Esmme 03-30-2012 12:12 AM

(( I thought it was so funny! Ah, I love it. :3))

'Yes, I want to know." Kadaj's slitted eyes locked on Annuil's face as she squirmed a bit to get comfortable. "I wouldn't have asked if I didn't want the answer." His anger was kindled once again. Honestly, it was constantly simmering and merely needed the slightest reason to flare up. And he was in a rather good mood compared to some of his darker spells.

The elf seemed to think for a moment before she finally replied. When she did, it made the shifter raise a brow. "How . . . vague." Kadaj didn't pry, though. He didn't necessarily have to know. When Annu grinned, the pale youth felt a ghost of a smile tugging at his lips as well. Perhaps it was true: Smiles were contagious.
"I was born," Kadaj said with a slight smile, "hence I am hunted." He eyed the girl for a few moments before brushing his collarbone in what appeared to be annoyance. In his culture, the action symbolized just that: It meant he was annoyed. His glowing eyes narrowed, and he met Annu's gaze for many seconds without blinking. "I'm sure someone as intelligent as an elf can put the pieces together."

Tilting his head, the dragon smiled a bit. The motion revealed his elongated canines . . . and the slight dappling of silver scales along his jaw. They hadn't been there a few moments prior - and it wasn't a trick of the dim lighting. Amusement flit through Kadaj's gaze as he watched Annu's reaction.
"Have you ever met a dragon before, elf?"
Without waiting for an answer, the male seemed to know the answer. His cold fingers flicked out to off-handedly brush Annuil's shoulder. This was an action the dragons knew well: it was a sign of sarcasm. Sadly, the action was lost to the other races. It just looked (and felt) . . . strange.

FallenDove 03-30-2012 01:18 AM

"Sorry, but yours wasn't any less vague, honestly. I am sure the pieces are not hard to fit together. I am suprised you did not-" She cut herself off, remembering he had been in the stables hurt during that time. She would have felt her cheeks heat up at the thought if she had not felt him touch her shoulder. No, she ad not met a dragon before and all this touching's meaning escaped her. She blinked once, twice. What was he doing? She wondered. Perhaps it was something from his own culture. Either way, it was starting to make her fidgety.

Of course, the elves used touch a lot and not all of it was for sex. A lot of it was friendly and supportive in a caring way. Humans had warped touch into something sexual, all the time. She shook herslf from the thoughts and focused back on him. My, did he had a quick temper. She raised her eyebrow at him again but shrugged.

"No, I have never met a dragon before and I can see why they would hunt you. Not that I am discriminating. I am being hunted myself, actually..." Her voice kind of trailed off with implication, but she said nothing else. She just let the thought hang, "What I did to piss the humans off though, was setting of fire crackers and fire works next to where they were. Just for a bit of fun and then, things caught on fire and one thing led to another and here I am, in the company of a stubborn dragon boy," She teased.

Esmme 03-30-2012 04:14 AM

Kadaj was amused by the story of Annuin's (I keep saying AnnuiL. It's an N!!! Grr.) misfortune. "A troublemaker?" For some reason he seemed to enjoy that little fact as well. "Ah, someone after my own heart." He placed a pale hand over his black clothing, looking more than sarcastic.
The dragon caught Annu's last words, and his features flickered between anger and laughter. His choice to go with sarcasm bypassed a rather nasty bit of temper that might have gotten them noticed. "I left home, flew over a few villages, ate a few humans . . . " he shrugged one shoulder, a smile on his face. "And now here I am, in the company of a strange elven girl."

The male took a deep breath, letting it out slowly. He needed to sleep. Kadaj could feel his weariness pulling at him again, though it wasn't quite as strong now that his bleeding had been slowed. "If the humans find us here," he said quietly, his features falling into a cold expression, "we will not last." A wounded dragon and tired elf were no match for an entire town of angry people.
Kadaj pulled himself back into the deepest shadows and rested his head against the wood beside him. "Rest while you can, girl. I plan on breaking us free when the sun rises." And he sounded dead serious about two things: Annuin coming with him, and actually breaking free.
"Get comfortable and stay hidden."

Two hunters had become the hunted. Kadaj refused to be prey for longer than necessary. By morning, his wound would be nearly healed, and his strength returned. They would escape easily.

The dragon's slitted eyes closed, and he let out a soft sound of weariness. Darkness clawed at his mind once more, bringing him down into a deep sleep even as he closed his eyes. He would be impossible to wake until morning.

((:squee: These two have so much spunk, it's just killing me! I love it!))

FallenDove 03-31-2012 06:21 PM

(I am just kind of letting Annuin take on a life of her own XD I am hardly planning out the posts.)

Annuin cast him a wary look and watched as he started to sleep. When he seemed in a deep enough trance of sleep, she crawled over, close to him, considering he was in the best place to hide in the stables. She made sure there was enough room to be appropriate between the and curled up, trying to get comfortable. She hadn't expected to be found in this position, being trapped by humans. Her white hair curled around her as she lay back, letting her eyes drift over to the dragon's sleeping form. He as fun to ruse she decided.

Eventually, a slow but sure sleep took Annuin over. She had not gotten a good rest in awhile. Tonight might be different, as long as some human did not happen upon them. It woul be easy to tell these two were not human nor were they here for a good reason. They were hiding, instead of the ones hunting. It must be terribly ironic for Kadaj. He did not seem like one that would give up easily and tomorrow would probably show her just that. She would not be outdone though.

Annuon found herself dreaming that night, not oddly it was of her home. She missed the city and the forest that sung to her, called her blood. Not literally but it where she was supposed to truly belong. She detested her race at that momen, in her lucid dream. They could not have chosen anyone worse to kick out than Annuin, the daughter to a once was powerful leader. They would come to regret it after she proved her innocence. Then they would really have something to peg on her.

Esmme 04-01-2012 10:26 PM

(( I know the feeling! Just come in and post. :P No planning on my end. LOL))

Kadaj awoke with a sudden start. The sound of someone opening the stable's door was more then enough to remind him of his current situation. The dragon's gaze flickered over Annuin as she rested close to him. She wasn't the one moving. That meant it was a human.
Trying not to growl, the male stiffened. Ever so slowly his arm wrapped about Annuin's waist - though it was a motion that was far from sensual. If anything, it was to keep her with him. She would need it if they were both going to survive this escape. Kadaj's energy had returned, and with it he felt a surge of bestial nature. You will not have me cornered.

The stable staff member stepped around the corner to start filling the feed basket for one of the horses. He was more than startled to find two people in the corner of the stall. "W-who are you?"

Unfortunately, the response wasn't as nice as it could have been. Kadaj stood, drawing Annuin up with him. He didn't even know if she was awake yet, so the dragon kept her closer than usual. "Run, human." When the boy hesitated, Kadaj flashed a fanged hiss. "Now!"
To emphasize his words, Kadaj shifted slightly. Silver scales bordered his face and the back of his hands, slender horns appeared along the sides of his heads, and his features took on a distinctly serpentine look. A feral hiss left his lips, and Kadaj looked ready to gut the boy. It was enough to scare him off with a yelp.

"We're moving," he growled, making sure that Annuin was finally aware of the situation. His arm was still tight about her waist, keeping her from running off. Kadaj didn't look at the elf; he merely walked to the front door of the stable and snarled at the nearest human.
With a sickening snap of bones, Kadaj let loose a cry - and wings burst from his back. They were in the air moments later, leaving the town behind with every beat of leathery wings. The half-shifted dragon glanced to Annuin for the first time since waking. "Where should I leave you?" He didn't plan on carting a girl around on his travels - especially since the dragon was ready for some trouble. He was healed, and he was ready to wreak havoc. It was his main thrill in life, honestly.

FallenDove 04-10-2012 03:00 PM

Annuin had been in a deep sleep, her mind clouded with dreams of her family and her city. Not hers any longer, that was. She hadn't been aware of what was going on with the human until she was snapped into awareness by Kadaj. She blinked a few times to try and make sense of what was going on around her. Her white hair blocked her vision for a moment, confusing her further when it swept out of the way as they were launched into the air. She bit her lip to keep from letting out a cry of suprise.

Where should he leave her? No where around here. She felt that an assassin was close for her. She didn't want to let the dragon shifter know that. Not yet. She still wasn't in a completely recovered escape. Let alone one that would let her fend off or even kill the assassin. Thinking fast, she turned to answer the shifter that was currently holding her. She quietly thought to herself about how quickly he recovered.

"Just bring me along with you. As it seems, you like to cause your own trouble for the humans. That is one of my favourite things to do," She tossed a half smile, half grin up at him, considering her vantage point at that moment.

(Sorry it is short. XD)

Esmme 04-11-2012 04:16 AM

((Oooh, your avi is so cute! :D))

"With . . . me?" Kadaj's grating voice was rough, and his slitted eyes flickered down to her momentarily. "I . . . see." Flipping onto his back, the half-shifted dragon adjusted his hold on the woman. It was something that took less than ten seconds, but he fixed her arms so that she wrapped them about his neck. Kadaj thought nothing of wrapping his own arms about the woman's waist, keeping her against him for both warmth (he knew that the other races weren't accustomed to the cool air of the skies) and for a better hold.
"You like the wild ones, do you?" Kadaj chuckled, his blue eyes scanning the skies ahead. "We'll see." Then, his wings snapped in close . . . and they plummeted like a stone. Falling from the clouds, the dragon male laughed as the wind whipped past them at increasing speeds. Just in time, he spread his leathery wings and carried them over a river. The water was moving quickly, but the cool spray covered them lightly.

"Dragons are a bit much to handle." Kadaj eyed Annuin for a few moments more before shooting back up into the air. His silver wings carried them up until the air was light - almost too light. Right there it felt like they were floating. The way he met the elf's eyes was strangely soft. "They say we don't get along well with the other races," he whispered. The atmosphere made it sound as though they were in an enclosed space - up close and personal.

In a moment that seemed to float in the air, they slowly began to fall again. This time Kadaj let his wings stay spread, and their fall was more like a drift. "I haven't eaten in days. We should find somewhere to hunt." Leisurely floating over the land, Kadaj searched the grounds below him. They passed a few herds of deer (apparently that wasn't what he wanted to eat). As he searched, a frown pulled at his silver-scaled features. "What do elves eat, Annu?"

FallenDove 04-11-2012 05:40 PM

"The wild ones... yes, I suppose I do," She gave him a wink, shuddering slightly against him because of the slight coolness surronding them. Her ankle length hair moved with them, never tangling or getting in the way. Her tattoos shimmered with her excitement. She was having fun, even if it scared her slightly. Her eyes were full of amazement, having never been up in the air like that, especially not with a dragon shifter, or a male. This place was quite... personal. It made her just a little uncomfortable but she wouldn't admit it.

"Oh, I think I can keep up with you. I have proven that so far. And humans do not know what they are talking about, neither does my own race," She sighed softly, not realizing the expression that flitted across her face, revealing her feelings about her own race and the corruption some were coming to. She knew this first hand because of what had happened to her.

"Elves eat a variety of things depending on where or what their origins are. I grew up eating no meat, just fruits and nuts mostly. Perhaps there was a fish or two but not a diet I would assume would suit you," She raised a slim white eyebrow at the half shifted dragon holding her.

Esmme 04-11-2012 06:00 PM

"No, that most definitely doesn't suit me." Kadaj actually laughed, looking to Annuin in amusement. "Perhaps a forested area for you to forage in, then?" With a sudden dip of one wing, he brought them lower. It was moments before the ground moved up to meet them, and the dragon landed quite smoothly. Letting the elf stand on her own two feet, Kadaj glanced about him. "There is a human dwelling nearby. I assume you can find more food there, if you can't find something preferable here."
Scenting the air, Kadaj's features pulled into a smile. "They tend animals. I will find something there." He could eat a ton. Dragons, despite the glamour they wore, were still dragons. Kadaj had the appetite of a giant beast - which he was. His slitted eyes moved to the gap in the trees, and he regarded the peaceful farm for a few moments longer.

"Why on earth would you torture yourself by never tasting meat?" His nose wrinkled, and he looked almost annoyed. The expression was obviously normal on his face. He had another question tugging at his mind, but Kadaj kept it quiet. Annuin had a problem with her own kin . . . and that was interesting. Heck, it might just have been the reason the dragon had no protests against keeping her with him.
"You've never eaten from an animal, save fish?" It took a huge amount of fish to fill a dragon . . . which was why they rarely even bothered eating them. As Kadaj stepped past the elf, he impulsively ran a hand through her hair. He frowned, pausing to look her over once again. The feel of her white locks was appealing (he would never admit it, but Kadaj was a fan of soft things), and he was amazed at how fluid her hair seemed to be. It had yet to tangle or even get in the way.

Finally frowning a bit and lifting his gaze, the dragon sighed. "Do all elves have markings?" As his fingers moved from her hair, they trailed over Annuin's shoulder. The glowing designs were interesting, to say the least. Now that they were away from the danger they'd been in, Kadaj was finally able to look Annuin over more thoroughly. He'd never seen an elf . . . and this one was particularly interesting.

"Torture? I do not savour the thought of eating dead flesh," She wrinkled her nose and gave him a wary look. There would be plenty of food, she had a knack for finding it, "Maybe you could convince me to try some actual meat," She teased, raising one slim eyebrow. She had a feeling as it was that she would not be we;comed by humans, around this area, that was. She had been causing trouble for them for the past month of so and that wasn't a smart idea, considering that the assassin were probably looking for her. She froze as she felt something touch her hair. She relaxed slightly once she saw that it was Kadaj.

Annuin tossed him a questioning looking, a frown tugging at the side of her lip. She was not sure how to react, let alone when his hand moved to her shoulder. She was not accustomed to being touched so, what would seem, casually. She shifted slightly before giving him an answer, "Well, no. Some elves no longer have the tradition but that is very few. Many are actually born with part of their markings, and then gain them as they grow older," Her eyes watched him closely.

"Marks vary depending on regions, then what part of the regions, their clan, the family home and then finally, each elf has a personal twist to their markings. If you look close enough, you can read much about the elf and their personality." It was always something that had been notable to her and interesting. She learned long ago how to read marks upon other elves and would read on the other races with identical types of marks.

"Not all creatures I eat are already dead," Kadaj seemed to snort, but then his blue-green eyes filled with laughter. "I'll try to save something for you to try one of these days."

"So this tells others where you are from and how you act," Kadaj said slowly, noting the uncomfortable shifting that the elf was doing. If he didn't know better, Annuin was uncomfortable with the contact The thought made his slitted eyes narrow in amusement as he made another pass, this time trailing his cool fingers over the woman's lower back as he circled her. "I've never heard of a race being born with such marks. I find it interesting."

The dragon seemed to grow bored of the inspection, and glanced toward the farming area not far from them. "I will hunt and return here before nightfall," Kadaj said, his fangs seeming to grow longer to slur his speech. "As interesting as you are, Annu, I might end up eating you if I don't find another meal."
With a playful smile, Kadaj launched himself into the air, his silver wings spreading and immediately carrying him away from the tree-covered area. His movements were swift and purposeful as he dove toward the farmland - and mid-flap he exchanged his human body for his beast form. With a loud bestial cry, the dragon dipped . . . and tumbled to the ground with a rather large bull in his talons. The struggle lasted for the minimal amount of time before Kadaj hissed and headed for the sky once again, this time with his meal in tow. The human hands that worked on the farm were completely stunned, and by the time they realized that a supposedly extinct dragon had just stolen their prize cattle.

"I you do save me something, make sure it isn't alive," She teased, not being phased by what he said. It didn't suprise her. She had seen worse. Her own kind, not her clan specifically, would eat something slowly, even skinning it while it was alive. Atleast, or she assumed, that Kadaj just ate them without as slow as torture as er people did.

She shivered visibly when his hand traveled down her back, "Not precisely how I act, I am full of suprises." As you will come to learn, she added mentally, trying to stop herself from shifting around too much, "But, many markings are interesting and hardly any of them are... harmless," She winked at him, "And to eat me, you'd have to catch me first. Size doesn't always matter," She gave him a suggestive look before turning and heading off herself.

She glamoured herself to be left unseen by the humans that were working. Annuin headed off into the house next to the pasture and headed inside, looking around for what she could do to cause mischief. She pondered the fact as she raided the kitchen. She found a sack and then looked into the icebox. She found some fruit but frowned. They would have to do. She took them and slid the sack onto her shoulder. Checking the house, she rigged some powder and other herbs she found to create a type of explosive. She grinned, lit it and ran out of the house. The kitchen exploded ad the rest of the house caught on fire. Annuin laughed to herself, fleeting to the forest not too far away and hid there while waiting for Kadaj. She pulled out a slightly bruised pear and began to eat.

((*laugh* Ooooh, really? :XD))

Kadaj's head lifted the moment things exploded. The flames drew the dragon's attention away from his meal - though he'd been nearly finished already. The serpent tilted his head and tasted the air with his tongue. It wasn't a natural fire, and something about it screamed out that Annuin had something to do with it. He liked the girl already.

With a dragon-like cry, Kadaj lifted to the sky once more. Within minutes he was circling the farmhouse that was burning. Most of the flames had been squelched by the quick-moving staff and family as they strove to save most of their belongings. Always one for trouble, the silver beast dipped low over the building . . . and burst forth a line of flame that chased the humans away from their source of water.
It was only a fly-by, though. Kadaj headed for the forests in a different direction than he was going to meet Annuin so the humans would be thrown off. The flash of movement that followed was a streak of silver scales. The dragon raced through the trees fluidly, wings pulled tight against his cool form to conserve space as he darted under and over branches and fallen trees.

It was nearly an hour and a half after they'd parted when Kadaj stepped into the clearing. His thin, snake-like tongue darted out to tickle the elf's cheek as he stepped up behind her, his serpentine neck allowing him to move around the tree's trunk easily. It seemed like he hadn't brought her any meat that day. The dragon had been far too hungry to think of conserving any for the woman.
With a strange flash of silver scales and gray fabric, Kadaj suddenly sat beside Annuin in human form. It sounded like shape-shifting was painful . . . which was true. Still - the dragon liked to speak with words instead of growls and body language that the elf would likely not recognize.

The tips of his fingers brushed over his left temple, and the look in his eyes was full of energy. "You burned the building, didn't you?" The motion that Kadaj had made looked similar to an extremely lazy salute - and in his culture, it was a sign of admiration or congratulations. He always had enjoyed making trouble, and he enjoyed seeing Annuin's trouble-causing. It made her a much more interesting companion - and he liked it.
Kadaj glanced at the remaining bit of fruit that Annuin held and wrinkled his nose. It smelled strange, and he wasn't privy to trying it. "How can you stand eating only . . . that?"
