"Lucky for you," Seamus replied. He shook his head at the question. "All was quiet out on the grounds. Brit's been in the main building all evening, I think her phoenix eggs hatched, so I've been keeping an eye on things for her."

Woofie267 05-24-2012 05:55 PM

Kaladin nodded and yawned briefly again. "Alright. Well, as long as everything's normal I'm going to go pass out now."

Mageling 05-24-2012 06:04 PM

"Go ahead," Seamus replied, heading for the door. "I can hold down the fort in the morning until you can drag yourself out of bed and not fall over."

Woofie267 05-24-2012 06:07 PM

Kaladin mumbled something vaguely affirmative, getting into bed. He was out like a light as soon as his head hit the pillow.

Brit ended up being around before anyone else. She'd been up all night, and once the hatchlings decided it was nap time she figured she could get some work done. So she moved around bales of hay and did a quick visual check of the whole ranch before heading over to check on the snakes. It was cooler today and overcast, so she wasn't sure how hungry they were.

Seamus had gone back to bed once he left his brother's room, but was still up fairly early, as usual. His first order of business was to check on the gryphon herd, and then take a look at the snakes since Kaladin wasn't awake yet.

"You're up early," he commented to Brit when he saw her.

Woofie267 05-24-2012 06:23 PM

Didn't actually sleep. Figured it was easier. Brit shrugged as she handed the note over. The snakes weren't really awake, so she figured they could be fed later, if at all today.

Mageling 05-24-2012 06:29 PM

Seamus raised an eyebrow.

"You should get some sleep, then," he said. He nudged her back towards the house. "Go on, I can keep track of things for a bit. Kaladin should be getting up eventually, anyways."

Woofie267 05-24-2012 06:35 PM

[It's not like this is the first time I've done this, Brit grumbled as she allowed herself to be pushed back towards the house.

Mageling 05-24-2012 06:38 PM

"Doesn't matter," Seamus replied cheerfully. "You don't have to, so you're not going to." He opened the door to the main house for her and waited for her to go in. "Go rest. I can keep track of things for a while."

Woofie267 05-24-2012 07:00 PM

Brit sighed but nodded, heading back to her area and settling down. A little nap sounded good. Two or three hours tops. And then she'd get back to work.

Kaladin ended up getting up almost two hours later, still a little groggy, and got dressed and headed out to check on everything. At least he was awake and mobile.

Mageling 05-24-2012 07:02 PM

"Morning, Kal," Seamus greeted when he saw his brother shuffle out of the dorm and into the overcast light. "You look like you need coffee. Or whiskey. One of the two."

Woofie267 05-24-2012 07:04 PM

"I'll manage." Kaladin shrugged, rolling his shoulders briefly and trying to wake himself up more. "Where are the girls?" He'd expected to see at least Brit up and running around.

Mageling 05-24-2012 07:07 PM

"I sent Brit to bed," Seamus replied as he hauled a bag of feed over his shoulder for the ceryneians. "Apparently she was up even later than you and decided to just stay up indefinitely. And the lady hasn't shown up yet. I'm guessing she's still sleeping in, or maybe on her way."

Woofie267 05-24-2012 07:08 PM

Kal snorted and nodded. "Alright. Anything I need to know about around here?" Everything seemed pretty lazy so far, but he was better off asking. Just in case.

Mageling 05-24-2012 07:15 PM

"Nope," Seamus replied. "All quiet today. Though the gryphons are quieter than usual." He was sure his brother knew as well as he did that it was likely because one of the herd had been taken away.

Woofie267 05-24-2012 07:17 PM

Kaladin nodded after a moment. He'd have to see if he could get some information out of the police about the gryphon they'd taken. And soon.

Hazel ended up arriving a little after noon, in her 'work' clothes rather than a day dress. When she arrived, she took a cursory glance around the ranch before going into the main house to start taking care of the paperwork she was sure had piled up since she was there last.

Woofie267 05-25-2012 12:02 AM

Brit had already gone out to rejoin the others working, whistling occasionally as she did. Hey, it was a pretty good day so far. She'd gotten a nice nap in, and the animals were all behaving.

Mageling 05-25-2012 05:13 PM

Once the paperwork for the day was done, Hazel left the main building to walk the grounds of the ranch for a little while. The peace and quiet was nice after a night of dancing. She walked carefully; dancing all night after an interim of not dancing at all had left some blisters on her feet that weren't ready to be lanced just yet, and they hurt when she walked. But she handed it and kept going around the ranch.

Woofie267 05-25-2012 06:13 PM

Brit had checked on the grounds again before deciding that everything was fine and she could go back to her room for a bit. She could still hear if anything happened while she was in there, but she got to check on her phoenix chicks.

Kaladin was just finishing cleaning up some things, moving some tools and equipment around to make the tool shed more organized.

Mageling 05-26-2012 01:05 AM

Hazel's wanderings took her down near the pond. She looked it over critically, thinking. She and Brit had wanted selkies, after all. They still needed to make that happen.

Woofie267 05-26-2012 01:12 AM

Brit went to go check on her, heading over to the pond to go see what she was doing. What's up?

Mageling 05-26-2012 01:36 AM

"Thinking," Hazel replied absently as she looked out over the pond. "I wanted selkies."

Woofie267 05-26-2012 01:38 AM

Brit nodded. I think the pond would have to be expanded, and we'd have to lay down some kind of bottom so it wouldn't dry up, but it could be done. And she kind of liked selkies too.

Mageling 05-26-2012 01:58 AM

"Let me know what needs to happen, then," Hazel replied. "I'll see to it that it's done." Because she wanted selkies, darn it, and what she wanted, she would get.
