Seamus didn't do anything else for the moment. He didn't even plaster on his signature shit-eating grin; instead he just gave her a crooked little smile that he learned from his brother.

And that crooked little smile made Brit turn even more red, her heart thudding unevenly, and she quickly looked down to try and distract herself. Or something.

Seamus knew that for what it was and got up, settling the snakes back down so he could go.

"I think I'll go check on the rest of the animals," he said, heading towards the exit. He didn't want to freak Brit out too much, after all.

Brit nodded and watched him go briefly before going back to cuddling with the snakes for a little while longer.

Kaladin was glad to get out of the carriage, stretching briefly and looking over at Hazel.

Hazel stepped out of the carriage and shook out her skirts habitually. Time to see what selkies were for sale.

Kaladin let her lead the way and get through the introductions and things. He was there to look at the selkies, so he mostly didn't bother with the niceties. Besides, ranch hands were never so formal.

Hazel breezed through the formalities. Those were things she was very familiar with and besides, she was passingly acquainted with Lord fer Toren, anyways. That made things easier. Finally, they were taken to the selkies that were up for sale.

Kaladin immediately dismissed a few of them as being too old for what Hazel wanted, and moved closer to get a look at the remaining ones. He could a few potentials, including one swimming around the pond, and he beckoned Hazel over closer.

Hazel moved a bit closer when Kaladin waved her forward. The selkies she could see were adorable, but she couldn't see any obvious differences in any of them when she looked.

"You see that one?" Kaladin pointed to the far side of the pool. "It's just sort of laying there. Doesn't seem to be too interested in the others or in going swimming. It's probably not very social, and probably not something you'd want to keep on your ranch. This one, however," and here he gestured to a selkie that had come right up to the edge of the pool closest to them, observing them with large dark eyes, "would probably be a good addition."

"This is exactly why I need your input," Hazel said as he explained. "I just think they're all adorable." She could easily drown in the big, dark eyes that blinked up at her from the pool.

Kaladin chuckled quietly and moved over closer to the pool. The selkie didn't dart away, so it was clearly used to humans, and it managed to slip up out of the pool to get closer to investigate the two.

"This one would be a very good acquisition."

"Then keep this one in mind," Hazel replied, watching the selkie. "We'll get it."

Kaladin nodded and started looking around at the other selkies. None of them really caught his attention, until one came up from the bottom of the pool and floated over to them lazily. That one was a little bigger but looked in good health, and curious enough to match the basic personality.

"What do you think of that one?"

"It's cute," Hazel replied. She gave Kaladin an amused look. "That will probably be the answer you'll get for every question you ask me about them, you know."

Kaladin chuckled quietly. "Apart from it being cute, then. Watch it for a few moments and see if you can get a glimmer of personality from it."

The selkie looked at them before it dipped under the water, righting itself so it could poke just its head above the water to look at them again.

Hazel bent down to get a closer look at the selkie. She wasn't entirely sure what she was supposed to be looking for.

The selkie swam closer before moving up out of the water suddenly to bop her with his nose before he darted away again.

Kaladin snorted. Okay, he had found the two that he liked.

Hazel couldn't help but laugh when the selkie bopped her with its nose. Oh yes, she liked that one, too.

"Just the two or do you want to look at the others?" Kaladin raised his eyebrows at her.

"How many do you think we should have?" Hazel asked. "Two is fine, but if you think we can take on more, we can."

Kaladin was quiet for a moment. "Maybe a third? And then later on we can see about adding hippocamps or kelpies, if you'd like." He looked over at her to see her reaction to that.

"A third is fine," Hazel replied. She would look into other creatures later, once the selkies had settled in and gotten adjusted to their new pond.

Kaladin nodded and looked around. There was one littler one in the pool, although it was over on the other side, splashing around and playing with the one that had bopped Hazel.

"What do you think?" He nodded in the correct direction. The little one was noticeably smaller than the others, and the others were still only half-sized.

Hazel looked at the little one, and then back at Kaladin.

"I stand by my previous answer," she replied with a bit of a grin. Good god, she was flirting with him.
