Kaladin shook his head. "He doesn't. Once in a while he'll drink the really strong black teas, but other than that, no."
Hazel grinned a bit.
"So I don't suppose it would be beneficial to bring back some of the seasonal blends to keep on the ranch?" she teased. |
"Wouldn't benefit him any," Kaladin said with a grin. "I, on the other hand, rather like tea. I think Brit does too."
"She does," Hazel replied. "I think she likes the lighter ones, rather than the strong black teas."
Kaladin nodded and smiled briefly when a waitress came by and handed them both menus. "Well, feel free to get whatever you'd like. My treat."
"Are you sure?" Hazel asked as she took her menu. "I don't mind paying for my own..."
"Hazel. Finding rewards, remember?" Kaladin grinned briefly. "It's okay, really. I don't mind."
"If you're sure," Hazel replied, glancing at the menu again. After a moment, she looked at him. "What would you recommend here?"
"The jasmine tea is good. One of my favorites is the rasberry, and the lavender is nice. The chamomile is very good here. Any of the fruit teas are better here than anywhere else I've tried." Kaladin shrugged. "So it depends what you like."
"Alright," Hazel said, her gaze drifting to the selection of fruit teas. She was rather fond of them herself, and she was pleased to note that there was a mixed-berry tea listed.
Kaladin browsed through the tea selection as well, just looking it over again. Although he already knew what he was going to get.
"I think I know what I want," Hazel said after a moment, setting the menu down.
Kaladin nodded, and a few moments later their waitress arrived, smiling at them both. Kaladin ordered his tea and looked at Hazel, raising an eyebrow.
Hazel smiled a bit and ordered the mixed-berry tea, handing the waitress her menu.
Kaladin leaned back again once the waitress was gone. "So how's the paperwork going? Still have too much of it?"
"Less now than before," Hazel replied. "Things are settling out now, I think."
Kaladin nodded. "That's good. So do you think you'll have more time coming up?" He smiled hopefully.
"I should," Hazel replied, smiling a little. "I don't want to take too much of your time away from the ranch, though... I know you have things to do there."
"I can work around that," Kaladin shrugged. "Don't worry about that too much. Might actually force my brother to talk to Brit more."
"They've gotten a bit... closer, since you've been gone," Hazel said. She glanced away for a moment, and then back, nowhere near about to admit that she had gotten a bit jealous of them.
"Have they really?" Kaladin smiled, pleased. "Well, I'm glad to hear that. It's about time that kid found himself a good girl." He nudged her foot gently.
Hazel blushed slightly when his foot brushed hers.
"I'm glad Brit found someone who can appreciate her," she replied, trying vainly to suppress the blush. |
"Mmm. All women need a good man to appreciate them," Kaladin said, looking at her. And he very much intended to be that man for Hazel.
Hazel blushed a little more. She knew what he was implying and she had to admit, the idea was appealing. She could very easily picture herself spending the rest of her life with Kaladin.
Kaladin smiled but didn't say anything more for the moment.
"How's your tea?" |
