"When can you start?" Hazel asked in return. She hadn't been exaggerating when she said the ranch needed more hands. The temp working at the ranch was only there until the end of the expo, after all.

Woofie267 05-04-2012 03:12 AM

"As soon as you need." Kaladin shrugged. "We have all our stuff already." It wasn't a problem for them to start working whenever she wanted.

Mageling 05-04-2012 03:15 AM

"Could you start the day after the expo, then?" Hazel asked. She didn't want to take them away from anything they had planned during the expo, but the temp would be gone the day after.

Woofie267 05-04-2012 03:18 AM

Kaladin nodded. "Sure. That won't be a problem." He glanced back at Seamus to see if he had anything to add. He didn't think this would be a very bad job, personally.

Plus it would look good if they had to move again for whatever reason.

Mageling 05-04-2012 03:30 AM

Seamus shrugged. He have any objections.

Hazel smiled.

"Then consider yourselves hired," she said. "My name is Hazel d'Loncré, and I own the Menagerie."

Woofie267 05-04-2012 03:33 AM

"Nice to meet you. I'm Kaladin, and this is my brother, Seamus." He nodded to both of them. "We don't want to keep you. We'll see you in a few days." He took a step back and them moved away.

Brit watched them go. They would certainly be interesting to work with.

Mageling 05-04-2012 03:47 AM

Hazel nodded and watched them go.

"That's two," she said to Brit. "And they seem like they'll be valuable workers. What do you think?"

Woofie267 05-04-2012 03:51 AM

Brit nodded. They'd asked good questions, and they seemed like they knew what they were doing. She was fairly confident they'd be valuable workers.

She paused for a moment before she took her notes. Two or three more, do you think? I think that would be about average, from what I've asked the others.

Mageling 05-04-2012 03:05 PM

"Sounds alright to me," Hazel replied. Five new hires seemed about right; she'd gotten rid of about that many to begin with. She looked back in the direction the brothers went in for a moment, and then turned her attention back to the remaining applications.

Seamus nudged his brother a bit as they went to walk around a bit. Neither of them had been expecting to get an offer so soon.

"So what do you think?" he asked. "About the job, I mean."

Woofie267 05-04-2012 08:41 PM

Brit nodded and started going through the other applications they'd singled out. None of the others had the sort of instant attraction that the brothers had, but she could see there would be a few who would probably work well in the Menagerie.

Kaladin was quiet for a moment. "Well, it'll be interesting," he said quietly. "I don't think we've ever worked for someone so young before. She looks like she's your age." He glanced over at his brother.

"But I don't forsee any big problems. Not yet, anyway."

Mageling 05-05-2012 01:04 AM

Hazel let Brit go through the rest of the applications. She trusted Brit's judgement on the matter.

"I'm betting she's probably just taking care of the place for the one who owns it," Seamus said, shrugging a bit. "Aunt or uncle or something." He gave his brother a bit of a sly look. "Though I noticed you were looking at more than her face." Because he couldn't help but tease his brother sometimes.

Woofie267 05-05-2012 01:08 AM

Brit picked out three other applications, holding them out to Hazel. They all had pretty good experience, and one of them had worked a lot with gryphons before, which would be helpful.

Kaladin rolled his eyes and whapped his brother's shoulder. "Oh shut up," he muttered. "Like you were looking strictly off to the side and not looking at the other one?"

Mageling 05-05-2012 01:16 AM

Seamus just shrugged. He wasn't going to confirm or deny. Not that his brother needed anything else to lord over him, really, but it was the principle of the thing.

"Maybe," he allowed. He glanced at his brother. "But she wasn't the one from the upperclass family."

Woofie267 05-05-2012 01:17 AM

Kaladin shrugged. "Hey, looking doesn't hurt," he said with a brief grin. He was a red-blooded young man. He'd admit to looking. Looking was okay.

It was when other things started happening that things started to go downhill.

Mageling 05-05-2012 02:04 AM

"Uh huh," Seamus replied. He grinned. "This isn't going to turn out like that girl you had a crush on two jobs back, is it? That one who worked with the winged cats?" Because THAT incident hadn't turned out all that well, Seamus remembered.

Woofie267 05-05-2012 02:10 AM

Kaladin rolled his eyes. "No, it's not. Besides, we worked with her. This is different." He cuffed his brother upside the head before he headed back to their temporary apartment. "Come on. We'd better go make sure everything's in order before we go."

Mageling 05-05-2012 02:13 AM

Seamus rolled his eyes in return, but nodded and followed his brother. Time to make sure everything was in order so they could start their new job in a few days.

Woofie267 05-05-2012 02:16 AM

Brit yawned quietly as she stood next to Hazel. They'd finished hiring people, and the Expo was starting to wind down for the day. They now had two options: find somewhere to stay the night, or go back home for the night and return the next morning.

Brit half-hoped they'd go home so she could get the snakes settled in and find a place to put her pheonix eggs.

Mageling 05-05-2012 02:27 AM

Hazel was more than ready to head home for the evening. As used to her dresses as she was, she'd been walking around all day and wanted very much to go collapse into bed and sleep.

"Come on," she said to Brit, "let's head back. We need to get the snakes back to the Menagerie, anyways, right?"

Woofie267 05-05-2012 02:29 AM

Brit nodded. Yes. It would be best to head back home for the night, I think. We can always come back tomorrow.

Plus tomorrow she'd have a better idea of how long the renovations to the pond would take so she'd be able to tell how long it would take until they could get a selkie or two.

Mageling 05-05-2012 02:45 AM

"Sounds like a plan to me," Hazel replied. She stretched a bit. "Snuggling into my own bed sounds nice. Maybe some hot tea..." She sighed in anticipation.

Woofie267 05-05-2012 02:46 AM

Brit smiled a little and nodded, leading the way back to the carriage. She set the snakes and her eggs in there carefully, making sure they couldn't shift around during transit, before she got up front and started to drive them back to the Menagerie first.

Mageling 05-05-2012 03:04 AM

Hazel kept an eye on the snakes and phoenix eggs during the trip back to the Menagerie so nothing happened to them. Once they got back, she got out of the carriage and handed them to Brit again.

"I'm going to head back to the manor," she said. "I'll be back in the morning. Will you be able to take care of things here?"

Woofie267 05-05-2012 03:06 AM

Brit nodded. She wasn't going to put the new snakes straight into the cage, not tonight, just in case there were problems. And she shouldn't have any work to do, as long as the temp had remembered everything. So she should be able to go sleep soon.

Mageling 05-05-2012 03:22 AM

Hazel nodded and headed out, going back to the manor.

The rest of the expo was kind of a blur to her. She saw everything at least three times, and talked to countless people, and she was grateful when the expo finally ended.
