"I thought I had a tendency to pick the most expensive hotel in any given area?" Katherine teased.

"Nah. Only the second-to-most, sometimes," Leila joked with a grin. It felt good to tease each other like this.

Katherine rolled her eyes.

"I'll make sure to pick the best, this time," she replied, grinning. "Just for that."

Leila just laughed, and didn't stop laughing until they hauled their things downstairs and out to the car. Fortunately Kat was good at making things feel more normal again.

The sun was just setting as Leila got her things in the car, and she looked towards the castle again, her gaze going unerringly to Carlos's room.

Katherine noticed her friend's distraction.

"Everything alright?" she asked, looking from her friend to the castle and back again.

"Yeah." Leila didn't look away from his window until the sun set, though. She could feel the niggling tingling start in the back of her brain again. "Just testing a theory. We can go whenever, now."

"Testing a theory...?" Katherine nudged as they walked towards the car.

"I could tell when Carlos woke up." Leila spoke quietly, getting into the car without looking to see if the other vampire was moving yet. She did, however, glance up at Katherine.

Katherine frowned slightly as she considered that.

"Interesting," she murmured.

Leila nodded, settling into her seat. "I don't think I like this," she murmured. But she didn't say anything else. After all, there was nothing else to be done for the moment.

"I know," Katherine replied softly. "I don't blame you." She nudged her friend slightly. "I'll figure out what's going on. For now, we'll have to work around it."

Leila nodded, shaking herself a little. "Yeah. And we get to see Bucharest. Should be fun, right?" She made herself smile, though she was still unnerved.

"You'll love it," Katherine said, grinning. "Promise, the first thing we'll do after we get the hotel is track down a good place for you to eat."

Leila nodded, already looking forward to it. She settled back against the car to wait, looking out the window for much of the ride, even if she couldn't see much.

So once they got there, she hopped out of the car and looked back at Katherine, practically vibrating now with pent-up energy.

Katherine could see Leila getting twitchier and more fidgety as the night got later. That was slightly worrisome, but not enough so to call off the trip yet. But she would keep an eye on her friend, regardless.

"Hotel first," she said as they got out of the car. "Then we can see what all might still be open at this hour."

Leila nodded, looking around. "Well, there's one." She nodded to a hotel that looked fairly nice. "Although I don't know if it's the most expensive one in town." She grinned playfully at Katherine.

Katherine rolled her eyes a bit, grinning, but looked at the hotel all the same. It seemed alright from the outside, but she knew there had to be better than that. Still, though, it would do.

"Let's go, then," she said, heading for the door. "We may as well get a room now."

Leila nodded, following her inside. It looked nicer on the inside than it did on the outside, so it was upper-middle scale, as far as hotels went. Which meant Leila was more comfortable there.

Katherine was pleased at how much nicer the hotel was inside. She looked at Leila.

"Do you want to share a room?" she asked. "Or would you rather your own?"

Leila shrugged. "Whichever you prefer. Or think is better, at the moment." Because, yes, now she was feeling paranoid. She really wasn't sure if she'd continue getting up during the day or not, and she wanted someone keeping track of all the changes.

Katherine nodded. She understood what Leila was getting at. Going to the counter, she booked them a double room: a suite with two beds rather than one. She handed one of the keys to her friend.

"Let's go on up and put our things away," she said.

Leila nodded, taking her things and carrying them up to the room. She took the bed farther from the window without thinking about it, setting her things down.

"See, it's a nice room. Not the priciest, but it's nice." She grinned teasingly.

Katherine noticed that Leila didn't take the bed by the window, but just drew the curtains and didn't comment on it. She grinned a bit at her friend.

"Next hotel will be five-star," she teased back.

Leila laughed quietly and shook her head, settling down briefly on the bed. She wasn't tired, but it was nice to have a minute to adjust to the new place.

Katherine grinned a bit. Now Leila was a bit closer to being her old self. She stretched a little and glanced at the clock. The car ride had taken a while, since it was a far distance from the castle to Bucharest, so she doubted anything was still open.

"Feel like settling in and watching old movies?" she suggested to Leila. "I bet we could find the old 1931 version of Dracula." She grinned. "Ten bucks says you can't watch it anymore without picturing Uncle."
