"Loup-garou," Katherine murmured. She glanced around again. "But I can't pin it down. Might not even be here anymore."

"Loup-garou? What is that? Like, a werewolf or something?" Leila looked over at her, eyes wide.

"Essentially," Katherine replied. "I don't know many of the fine details about them, though. What I do know is that the lore is true when it comes to the idea that my kind and theirs don't necessarily get along."

"Oh. Crap." Leila swallowed. "Can we just not get in any more trouble if we can avoid it? That sounds kind of fantastic to me."

"I'll keep an eye out," Katherine promised. "If I spot any trouble, we can head back to the hotel."

Leila nodded. "Okay. That sounds fair to me." She tried to settle down again, so she could enjoy the rest of the tour.

Katherine tried to settle in, as well, although she did periodically glance around the bus. She still couldn't pinpoint the scent, but nobody seemed to be watching her in return, so she didn't feel there was any danger quite yet.

Leila managed to relax and enjoy the rest of the tour, stretching briefly when the bus stopped again at the end.

"Alright, what now?"

"Well, what do you want to do?" Katherine asked. "It's late enough in the afternoon that the lunch rushes at the restaurants should be over by now, if you want to stop for something. Or we can go find a museum or something to kill some time."

"Hmm... how about we just find a snack somewhere along the way, and then we find a museum or something to occupy us for a while?" Leila shrugged.

"Fine with me," Katherine replied. "What are you in the mood for?"

"We'll find out when we pass it." Leila grinned and started walking, just kind of looking around as she walked. She was content to just wander for a bit.

Katherine grinned a bit and settled in to walk with Leila. Even without a destination in mind, it was nice to just walk around and take in the sights.

Leila found a snack along the way, and then found a nice-looking museum.

"Want to go do the tour in there or do you just want to wander around in there?"

"We can do both," Katherine said. "Take the tour, and then go back and wander around and take a closer look at what was most interesting. What say you?" She looked at her friend.

"Sounds good." Leila grinned briefly. "You're not, like, getting tired or anything are you?" Because now that she knew and she was thinking about it, she was amazed Katherine could be up and going all day.

"I'll be okay for a while longer," Katherine replied. She was keeping to Leila's new sleep schedule, for now. It was easier that way. "If I did it right, I could go for days without rest. I've done so before."

Leila grimaced. "That doesn't sound fun. I don't even like going more than a day without sleep."

"It's not the same as what you know," Katherine said. "My body isn't predominantly tied to sleep anymore. Rather, it's tied to food. Given my habits at the moment, I can't go more than a day or so without feeding, even if I slept. But if I had a big enough meal, I could go longer without food, and sleep is no longer an issue."

"Huh." Leila took a few moments to absorb that, getting in line to get into the museum. "So I've seen your daily meal. It doesn't look like very much."

"It's not," Katherine said. "Which is why it's daily. If it were more, it would be less often." She paused for a moment. "Or it would be because I did something that used up a smaller meal faster, and I need to replenish it."

Leila nodded. "Yeah, I guess that makes sense. So how does that work? Is it the actual blood you need, or...?"

"Blood is what carries life, isn't it?" Katherine asked in reply. "It's morbid, but there it is. I have my own; if I break the skin, I'll bleed. But in the living, the blood is what carries life, and that's what I need."

Leila nodded. "That makes sense." She stretched briefly and started walking after the group. "So even the blood in bags works? The donated stuff, I mean."

"It's not quite as good, but yes, it works," Katherine replied. She made a bit of a face. "It doesn't taste as good, usually, but it does the job."
