“Dear lord, please forgive my sins. Forgive me for my human sins. Forgive me.” Gabriel whispered under his breath as the church’s morning mass ended. It was the same as every other day. They prayed then went off to train and complete tasks around the church. That was if something wasn’t urgent enough for them to be sent on a mission.
Gabriel was one of seven exorcists that were stationed at the church. Each of them was chosen by a virtue and that was their power. They were the soldiers of the church, following orders to the letter. There was no failure as far as the church was concerned. You either completed what they wanted or you died. For him, it wasn’t a problem. The church had done so much for him and he had lived there since he was seven. He owed them that much.
After the last prayer, he stood up and adjusted the mask over his face. It was a plain white mask that he was required to keep on, part of his training. It was more of a punishment for his pride. That was one problem Gabriel had. He was prideful and stubborn. Punishment after punishment and still he made the small gestures of defiance. He hated himself for them and kept extra cautious to make sure he didn’t display anything the church did not want to see.
He walked out of the chapel after the room had cleared of the priests and nuns. The long stone hallways echoed with the conversation of the people. Maybe he could sneak away this morning to get some time alone away from the others. He was barely starting to enjoy the idea when he heard a chipper voice call out his nickname.
“Gabby!” It could only be one person. Trinity. The red head ran up to him, and flashed him a wide smile.
“How many times have I told you that I will shoot you if you call me by that again. My name is Gabriel and you are not even supposed to call my by anything other than Humility. Do you understand, Kindness?” He kept his voice low, on edge at the chances of being caught by a priest. They were forbidden to know each other’s names, but everyone knew everyone else’s, yet Trinity enjoyed yelling them out and getting friendly with people.
Gabriel sighed and ran his hand down over his hip. His guns were safely holstered there. They were a thing of beauty, white and silver, with a golden cross on the blades and the top of the guns.
Peccatoris Paenitemini was their name, for they were the
Sinner’s Repent. He adored those twin bladed handguns. His best weapons and he felt such a connection that he thought they might have chosen him instead. The blonde relaxed a bit just knowing that they were in their rightful place. Almost any trouble could be solved by them.
“I don’t care, Gabby. Now do you know who has the day off? I have a mission and need an assistant. It’s a mercy killing from sickness. I can’t take you, I’m scared you will end up hurting my patient. Now who has the day off? No missions or training with masters?” Trinity spoke quickly as always. He was barely able to keep still. Gabriel gave up on the name thing and shook his head.
“I have no clue who has the day off. Go ask around then.” Gabriel shook his head and watched as Trinity ran off, trying to find someone to go with him. He knew he could never be a people person like Trinity was.
Joan never did get the chance to enjoy his moments alone to bask in the sun. He sat in the church’s garden on a bench, his face tilted up to the sun, feeling the warmth play over his skin. Usually it was the same reason that it always was, his step brother Ofir, who was Diligence.
“I told you already, Ofir. Just shut up. I do not want to hear it anymore. Please.” Chastity’s voice strained at 'please'. He would never talk that to anyone but Ofir, who loved to torment him.
“I’m just saying it is your fault the demon got away. If you had just killed it you could have saved lives.” Ofir shrugged. There were so many ways to just toy with his step brother. And this was one of them.
“You know that I cannot kill, Ofir. Now just leave me in peace! I have vows to not kill, and I cannot dirty my hands with any creature’s blood.” Joan just wanted to end the conversation, but Ofir was persistent.
“There are a lot of things you cannot do. And you must remember ignorance is not innocence. It is just a lie.” Ofir rolled his eyes. Joan’s cheeks were red and he was playing with his long extremely light blonde hair. Chastity was flustered and trying to refrain from starting a fight again. Ofir just kept on prodding, knowing it would come to that the more he did.

Sorrell watched from the shadows. The long table was full, all of the sins sat around it. That of course included his body that was currently sitting at the table, facedown to the dark wood. It was rare to get them all in one room. There was already bickering and their father had not eve arrived yet. He could hear Cybil’s shrill voice as someone offended him, and someone else yelling something back. Oh, were they loud. He voiced to his little slave to tell them so and just grinned watching the reactions. These meetings were always entertaining to him.
