For I Have Found a Ghost (Me and Evergreen Goddess)
Name: Ynx (when with the living, Claire)
Species: Once human -- now deceased Age: It's been sixteen years since her death, but being dead she can make herself any age she wishes Sex: Female Appearence: Red hair going just past her shoulders, bangs cut above her eyes, and hazel eyes -- wears a red/magenta sweater and faded blue jeans. Background: Ynx's family was killed in a house fire when her mother was seven months pregnant with her. Her mother, being pregnant with her first child, hung in limbo between life and death as she bartered for Ynx's life. Her mother was allowed to stay in Death until she gave birth to Ynx, but then had to give her up -- her price. Her parents chose to end their time in Death after that and ceased to exist. Because of the limbo her mother hung in as her body was destroyed, the fire fused with Ynx's develloping body and she has the ability to use fire in her Death, causing her to be called the Crimson Phantom. Fire is the only thing to which ghosts are succeptible, and so she was rejected by many people as a child. She became a Ghost Finder at an early age, which is the term for a ghost whose job is to seek out ghosts who have escaped Death and gone to the world of the Living, where they cause problems. She carries a katana (invisible when sheathed) on her back for this purpose and lives with a dead doctor, his wife, and their five year old daughter, Carry, born in Death, which a ghost can do if they let themselves get pregnant in Death. She idealizes her real parents and wishes she could have known them. |
Name: Demetrius
Species: Human Age: 21 Sex: Male Appearance: Demetrius Background:Demetrius has always been fascinated by the paranormal which caused his parents to believe he was crazy. His family was very religious, so talk about ghosts and the paranormal was very much forbidden. Nothing stopped him from doing what he wanted though. He always stayed up late reading books about haunted places and reading about ghosts. Even so, there was one place he never visited at night, and that was the cemetery. He knew that if he wanted to ever see a ghost, that was probably the best place to go for that. Fear however was the only thing holding him back...fear of what would happen. He wasn't afraid of ghosts no, he was afraid of what would happen if he met a ghost. What would the ghost do? Probably leave right? His only other sibling is his older sister who would always get him in trouble for reading the books he read. Demetrius now lives alone which is a big thing since now nothing is stopping him from doing what he wants, and now he knows what he wants to do. He wants to go to that cemetery and see what happens. |
Do you want to start with him going to the cemetery, then?
It was getting late now where Demetrius lived. The sky seemed to be getting so dark it looked black and the only light was emitted by the moon and the million stars in the sky. Everyone was asleep, or getting ready for it. Demetrius however, was getting ready to leave his house for a bit. He was planning to go to the cemetery and just walk around to see what would happen. He didn't have anyone to visit there so going to the cemetery seemed pointless, but curiosity for the unknown was the best reason he could think of for going to that place. After all, if you wanted to witness something paranormal, you had to go to the home of the dead first. Locking the door closed behind him, Demetrius walked out of his home and headed off to the cemetery alone. Not a sound was heard, only the sound of his own footsteps echoing along as he walked.
At the cemetery, a ghost was on the loose.
She was dressed like a twenties swinger girl, walking through grave stones apparently without noticing, and was singing a haunting tune under her breath. She was turning the handle to a music box in her hand, which provided an ethereal melody to go along with it. She didn't seem to notice her surroundings. |
Walking into the cemetery, Demetrius ran a hand through his short, chestnut colored wavy hair and looked around. Seeing that it was empty, he began to walk through the cemetery and stopped when he head a sound. It sounded like someone was singing...or was it humming? He wasn't so sure since it sounded faint and far away, but this only caused him to look around for the source of this sound.
The girl was off to one side of him. Besides her fashion sense, she looked...odd. Not entirely solid, and she seemed to shimmer slightly. She didn't seem to notice the man there, and eventually began singing softly to go with the tune from the music box.
Demetrius stopped walking and listened carefully. When he heard singing, he turned to where the singing was coming from and widened his eyes when he saw her. Her singing was what had stood out at first but then he began to wonder who she was and what exactly it was that she was doing here at this hour. There was something about her that didn't seem too 'normal' to him.
The girl's random wandering seemed to bring her closer to the man. She still didn't notice him, but at one point she just brushed him as she passed, and a chill seemed to come off her.
Staring at her, Demetrius opened his moth to speak but no words seemed to come out. Closing his mouth he thought and shuddered when he felt the chill as she passed by him. Was the shill a mere coincidence? He wasn't sure but he wanted to find out. He had to talk to her but he wasn't sure what to say. "Excuse me..." he said softly.
The hand turning the music box went still, the singing stopped, and the woman stopped walking. She turned slowly to look at the man who had spoken. 'Henry?'
Henry? he thought to himself and shook his head. "You're mistaken, I am not Henry. My name is Demetrius, may I ask for yours?" he asked her as he stared at her. He tried to remember if he knew a Henry but he couldn't remember too well if he did or not.
'Henry, how nice to see you again,' the woman said in an odd voice; it was like she hadn't heard his protests at all. She came forward, and rested an icy hand on his chest.
Demetrius knew that this person wasn't alive from how cold her hand felt. This woman in front of him was dead, he was actually talking to a ghost. It occurred to him that he wasn't going to be doing anything or getting any answers unless he went along with her game. "Well I was just passing by and wanted to see you again..." he said wondering what would happen next.
The woman leaned against him, and stood on her toes to kiss Demetrius' cheek. 'I know where we can go that'll do it quickly,' she said. 'Do you still have the rings?'
Demetrius looked at the woman and was confused by what she was saying. "The rings?" he repeated in confusion. He knew that at this point he was stuck. What was he going to do now? He didn't have any rings with him...but what was it that she was talking about and who was this 'Henry' she mentioned?
'For our wedding!' the girl said. 'Henry, this is our last chance to elope.'
Demetrius looked at her then frowned slightly. "You're dead...you never got the chance to marry Henry did you?" he asked and sighed. It was a bit saddening to think that she died without marrying the one she loved. "What is your name?" he asked softly but knew that she'd probably ignore him again.
Her brow creased slightly. 'You didn't lose the rings, did you? Henry, we spent hours picking those out!'
"I probably left them at home. I didn't think I would see you again so that's why I didn't bring them with me. We don't need rings though to show how much we love each other. Rings are just a fancy way to show it." he replied. He knew that he had been ignored once again, and if going along with her story really was the only way to talk to her, then he had no choice but to do just that.
The woman's face relaxed, and she looked like she was about to say something again, but she was interrupted by someone else saying, 'There you are!' The woman looked back abruptly.
The girl behind her was a few years younger, had bright red hair, and was also striding forward with no regard for solid objects in her way. She drew a sword out of thin air from her back and flames ran down its length, and she stopped a short distance away from them, holding the sword pointed at the woman. 'Come on, and no arguing. You've been out here for days.' |
Demetrius smiled back at the woman and wondered what she was going to say but quickly turned his attention to the second voice. Suddenly, he was confused even more than he had been before. There stood a girl with bright red hair pointing a flaming sword at the woman. It dawned on him that this girl was dead too since she had just walked through a tombstone. What's going on? he wanted to ask but just stood there, looking at the girl, then at the woman wondering what was going on. Out here for days? How long exactly has this woman been here? he thought to himself.
The woman held on to Demetrius more tightly. 'Henry...you won't let her take me, will you? You'll let me stay...'
Demetrius looked down at the woman holding onto his arm then looked at the girl. "What do you want with her? She's done nothing wrong and she should be free to do as she pleases." he said to the girl with the red hair. "I won't let you force her to do something that she doesn't want to do." he added.
The redhead shook her head. 'Wish it was that easy, but she needs to come back. She'll only cause problems here. Lucy, come on, we'll get you help,' she added to the woman.
'But Henry--' the woman, Lucy, said. 'Died three years ago,' the redhead said. 'I could find him for you. Now come on.' |
