Sabine blinked. That would mean she's get to see Aislin. She'd put up with the two gods for that.
"Okay," she agreed quickly. |
Yeah, he figured that would perk her backup. And hey, it would give Cadr a chance to go annoy Saif, too. Win-win.
"Then let's go," he said, gesturing to the door. "Sooner we go, sooner you can see your... sister, was it?" |
"Yes, my sister." Sabine shot him a look but she started walking, keeping about even with him. She didn't know exactly how to get there, after all, so she had to rely on him. For the moment.
|
Cadr ignored the look and kept walking. He was enjoying his morning, damn it, and he wasn't going to let her bad mood ruin things. They walked for a while, until Saif's temple came into view. He grinned. Time to 'brighten' Saif's day. He walked casually through the front entrance of the temple.
"Knock knock!" he called. |
"Got bored and decided to come visit?" Saif called from farther in. He was lounging in his warm spot again, having left Aislin to her own devices for the moment. He looked up, however, when he heard two sets of footsteps, rather than one.
|
"I figured you needed your day shaken up a bit," Cadr replied, grinning when he saw his friend. "And I thought you'd be all snuggled in by now, rather than sunbathing."
Aislin had heard the footsteps, and peeked out of one of the adjacent doors. She didn't want to interrupt, but she was curious. She couldn't hold back a small gasp when she saw her sister. |
"I like my sunbathing. It's nice and warm. And who's the girl?" Saif blinked, looking at Sabine. And then watching as she ignore the two gods, running over to Aislin to hug her tightly.
"The hell just happened?" |
"I told you I would find myself one," Cadr replied as he watched the girls. "It just ended up being the sister of yours."
"Sabine!" Aislin exclaimed as she hugged her sister just as tightly as Sabine was hugging her. "What are you doing here? What's going on?" |
Saif blinked, surprised, and then he laughed.
"Well, well! And how is that working out for you so far?" Sabine shook her head a little. "The hawk god decided he wanted a human to one-up the snake god," she said, her smile bitter. "And he picked me." |
"I'll let you know when it starts to," Cadr replied. "She's... spirited."
"At least you're alright," Aislin said, hugging her sister again. "You are alright, right? He didn't do anything to you?" |
"Meaning she doesn't like you." Saif grinned briefly. "Just your luck. Couldn't you have picked a tamer one for your first human?"
"No, no," Sabine said quickly. "He hasn't touched me. But still." She made a face. She was Not Pleased with the current turn of events. |
"Any tamer and she would be boring," Cadr replied with a grin. "You may want to expend as little effort as possible to be able to snuggle up to yours, but I like a challenge."
Aislin hugged her sister again. "As long as you're okay," she said. |
"Oh, you'll be challenged alright. You'll be challenged to keep your skin in one piece." Saif had been sort of paying attention to the two girls. And he definitely preferred Aislin to Sabine; he rather liked to keep his skin whole and intact, thank you.
Sabine nodded, looking her over quickly. "What about you? He hasn't touched you, has he?" A vaguely murderous glint entered her eyes at the thought. |
"Wouldn't be fun otherwise," Cadr replied with a grin.
"No, I'm fine," Aislin replied quickly. "Really, I'm alright. He hasn't touched me." |
"You can keep your 'fun'," Saif said dryly, eyeing the two girls. "I think I'll keep mine."
Sabine nodded after a moment, satisfied with that answer. "Good." |
Cadr snickered a bit.
"Any luck snuggling in with the soft warm-blood?" he teased. |
Saif rolled his eyes. "No, but I haven't been trying," he said patiently. "I've found it's better to let them adjust first, and then work my way in." For the very few who had made it that long, anyway.
|
Cadr snorted.
"Meaning you don't want her to turn out like the last one," he translated. "That one was messy." |
"Indeed." Saif grimaced briefly. "I do not wish for a repeat performance, no. Besides, if I do this right, I won't have to try getting into her bed. She'll come to mine."
|
Cadr raised an eyebrow. Well, that was a new one.
"You think you'll be able to manage it?" he asked, a bit intrigued. |
"We'll see." Saif grinned. "It'll be an interesting experiment, at least, and you know it will."
|
"Let me know if it works," Cadr said. He was very interested. Whatever could get a human girl into a snake-shifter's bed, he wanted in on the secret.
|
"I will." Saif grinned briefly before refocusing his attention on the girls.
Sabine was looking around, her eyebrows high on her forehead. "How big is this place?" she muttered. |
"Pretty big," Aislin admitted. "It's so much bigger and more grand than home... I feel like I don't know what to do with myself." She looked at her sister. "What about where you were?"
|
Sabine shrugged. "I'm sleeping in a hammock, which is kind of fun, and I haven't seen anything else. He has a bunch of curtains up to cordon off rooms." She had the feeling she'd be going stir crazy very, very soon.
