"I just... hoped... I just hoped... there would be a way... to fix it... to save you..." Kiyan said quietly her voice quivering a little. "I don't want you to be locked away! I want you and Lynia to be safe and happy... I feel.... so horrible... knowing I'm the reason you got so mad and started to change in the first place" she said quietly finally looking up at him having wiped away a small streak of blood that went down from her lip slight tears form in her eyes.
Adaza just looked at her, a small sigh escaped his lips. He walked over to her and knelt down once more. He wasn't sure how to make her feel better even if he told her it wasn't her fault, she still would blame herself. "It has and will never be your fault. It was my mistake that made me transform." He reached up to wipe a small bit of blood she had missed. He gently touched her face with his hand as his thumb removed the blood. "Kiyan, don't blame yourself for something that was fated to happen. I should have been dead a long time ago." He removed his hand from her face before standing up. "Besides spending a lifetime imprisoned won't be as bad as it sounds. I been imprisoned for more than half my life as it was, why not the rest of it." He said trying to lighten her mood. Though Adaza doubted she found his sad past humorous.
Kiyan frowned as she looked up at Adaza but was just so upset... she didn't want him to be taken away. "Adaza... what's the point of us going on this journey?... you took Sepheal's arm right? if you don't think the fountain can turn you back to normal... then why are we going through the trouble? you should already be strong enough to take him down shouldn't you?" she asked confused but still rather sad
He was about to turn to tend to his horse but stopped when he heard Kiyan. "I was returning you back to your home." He simply told her. "I have taken care of everything. Lynia will be safe at her grandmother's. Kayo and his family will be protected. My second will take over the region. You are home." He simply stated before walking over to his horse. He was giving it a rest before heading out in the middle of the night but change of plans. He mounted his horse. Adaza just looked at her once more. She was the only one he had left to protect. "Goodbye Kiyan, keep training. Maybe then you'll become a decent warrior." His horse started into a slow gallop before head out in a full gallop. He figured she might run after him. It took nearly all his energy but he and his horse completely disappeared in the shadows.
"W-WHAT!? NO! Adaza that's not fair!" Kiyan said quickly shifting into her spirit form and flew after Adaza but just couldn't seem to spot him. Why would he do this to her?! Leaving her here alone... no family... no reason to fight anymore really... sure she wanted to protect her clan but she didn't want to fight Adaza's kind anymore... she really just wanted to spend her time with Adaza, Lynia, her brother and his family...the thought of loosing them was just too much.
Adaza faded slightly back, he was covered by the trees nearby. He was tired from the amount of energy he had used. He dismounted his horse. It had been at least four hours before he came to a stop. There was an abandoned barn nearby. Adaza just walked his horse to the barn. Thanks to moving between the shadows, he was back in his kingdom. He opened the door and lead his horse inside before closing the door behind him. He lit an old lanterned before he removed his bandages from his eye. He felt bad for abandoning Kiyan. His heart was aching with pain. Even dead he still felt heart ache. Adaza placed his hand over his chest, it hurt soo much. He closed his eyes. He could still hear her. He tried to shake it off but her voice kept coming to him. He wish he could just forget about her. It would have been simpler to just have left when she had went to the old fox's hut.
Eventually Kiyan slowed before falling to the ground sobbing, if she didn't find him or find her way back to Adaza's castle she would certainlhy never see her brother again... she would never see Adaza... or Lynia... ever again. She sobbed at that knowing he would be sealed away alone and missed and that Lynia and her brother would suffer, Lynia from loosing her father and Kayo from loosing her and Adaza and possibly even being in danger.
Adaza just sighed, his heart just wouldn't stop aching from what he just done. Part of him wanted to go back for her. Deep down he knew it was for the best. He told her brother to visit her from time to time. He knew he would but he felt like he left her to nothing. His daughter wouldn't understand why he never returned, just that he left. Not matter what he did. It was wrong. If he stayed, they all would be in danger. If he left, they all would be emotionally hurt and fell abandon. Slowly his hand fall to his side. He wanted the shadows to swallow him whole and end this mess. He made his way to a corner of an old stall. He sat down with his knees up. He placed his forehead on them. His forearms resting on his knees, framing his head. Once again he closed his eyes, hoping the pain would eventually fade, but he knew it wouldn't
Once Kiyan calmed down she made her way back to the village having turned back to normal and explained what was going on to the elder who easily gave her a place to stay and told her whenever she needed she could head into the forest. Days passed since Adaza had just left her there and her pain never stopped, she was so sad and depressed. Finally after almost a week she made her way into the forest to meet with the other spirits and train. She stayed deep within the forest for at least four weeks before heading back into her village. She spoke with everyone there and they easily helped her giving her supplies, new clothes and even a new sword that was similar to Kaji's but hers was specially made to handle and work with her fire and dark powers. She easily thanked everyone promising to come back to visit before turning back into her spirit form and took off looking for Adaza once more trying to sense where he was using her now much higher powers, she just hoped it wasn't too late.
Several weeks had passed since Adaza had left everything. He had been staying in long forgotten barn hidden in the forest of his kingdom. His only companion was a young witch, she had been helping him with his transformation. She managed to slow it down, that's about all. "Are you sure you want this?" She asked afraid of his request. "I am sure, please, just do it." He had sprouted his wings. Shirtless he rested on his knees, his back facing her. With great hesitation the witch slowly began to remove one of his wings. Her magic was burning into his back, ripping his wing out by the root. The pain was unimaginable, Adaza had to bite down on a leather strap as he held onto a fence. The witch hated this request, she didn't like seeing him in pain. She gave him time to rest before removing the other wing. His demonic like claws dug into the wood as the pain numbed his back. A smoothing sensation flowed over him. The young witch was sealing his new wounds. When all was done, she left him to his isolation.
Not much had changed thanks to the young witch. His left eye was the only one that had transformed, his demonic claws had replaced his nails. The left half of his skin had resorted back into his grayish-blue tone. His canines had grown longer. No bandages, no cloaks, nothing could hide his slowly transforming body. Adaza just sighed as he rested leaning against the fence. Large scars now rested where his wings once sprouted. He was outside in the small clearing, the sun was warming his back. Although right now his back was numb, the pain soon would make its way back. |
Kiyan cried out as she suddenly felt a pain and lost a bit of altitude her wing hurting horribly and then the other, it wasn't her own pain clearly... it was faded a bit but still stronger then before and it grew in intensity as she flew back towards what she now considered her home. It took her awhile but finally she was getting close but a sudden intense ache in her heart and back caused her to plummet again but this time she actually saw what she was feeling. Her eyes widened as tears started to fill them "Adaza?" she whispered before folding her wings a bit causing her to quickly dive towards him landing mere yards away staring at what she could only assume were two freshly ripped out wing scars.
Adaza tense hearing a voice. He knew it was Kiyan even though he never turned to face her. He was still recovering from the mutation he just endured to hide from her approaching energy. "Go away. Kiyan." His voice was soft, weak in a way. Slowly he pulled himself up from his knees. His clawed splintering the old fence from they had dug in. He didn't want to face her, his heart still ached from her. He didn't want to refresh the memories of her. It was bad enough that he heard her voice after the weeks. He sighed softly, he would have to find a new place to hide from the world. At least until she found that hiding spot, then he would move from there.
"No! Adaza that wasn't right... you just left me there all alone... why do you think I left to join the military in the first place?" Kiyan said as she came closer to him still feeling tears in her eyes. "Adaza I... don't want to be away from you... you won't hurt me you know that right? I mean if you tried I'm sure you still could but in this form you can't just by touching me..." Kiyan said softly with a frown. "or... do you just want to be alone that badly?" she asked with a sad frown
Right? Like anything was ever right. "Just leave me alone." He repeated himself. He didn't care if it wasn't right. He didn't want to be alone. He didn't want to leave Lynia or anyone else he grew to care for. But he had too. Slowly the Adaza melted into the shadows once more. They were the one place he could hide that she couldn't follow. Small amount of frost form where he sank into the shadows. The frozen grass swayed lightly in the small breeze. He slowly faded from the shadows inside the barn. He sat in the shadows of the old stall he adopted. He pulled his knees up and resting his forearms on them. Adaza just looked at his hands. One was grayish blue with claws, as the other was pale white with claws. Slowly he closed them to make soft fist. He turned from his hands to stare at nothing.
"A-Adaza! Please! I want to help... I want to try to help at least... I... I might know of a way..." Kiyan said as she looked around for where he went but couldn't sense him exactly... just that he was still close
Her words could be heard through the old wooden walls but he never replied. He just sat in silence. The shadows provided enough covers to hide him from her if she decided to come into the barn. "Can I help you?" The young witch asked Kiyan in confusion. Only Adaza resided here. He had given up everything to be in solitude. The small bowl of discolor liquid in her hands shimmered lightly from the sun. She was no more than eighteen years of age. Her skin was pale which brought out her red hair and green eyes more. Her outfit was plain, showing that she lived in the forest all her life and didn't care about her appearance really.
"oh... um hello" kiyan said softly before shifting back into her normal form "No... I'm just trying to get Adaza to talk to me... I'm sorry if i disturbed you" she said quietly with a frown and looked around a bit sadly for where he could have went "Oh, sorry my Name's Kiyan Darkous I work for Adaza... well I used to... I guess until he decided I was better off in my homeland" Kiyan said with a sad frown and it was pretty clear she had feelings for Adaza
The witch just watched as Kiyan returned to normal. She smiled softly. "Please to meet you, I'm Renia." She held a finger to her lips as to tell Kiyan that she didn't tell her this before pointing to the barn. So she must have been the one that was breaking his heart. When she found Adaza he had just came from the Castle of Ashura, the spring had just accelerated his transformation as well as amplify his powers. She just looked at the bowl in her hands. She was just dropping off the potion to help with the transformation. The witch held out the bowl for Kiyan. "If you find him, give him this. It slows down the transformation." She spoke softly to Kiyan letting her know what it did and how important it was.
"It's nice to meet you as well Renia.. thank you." Kiyan said softly before taking the bowl and walked around for a few minutes before finally walking over to the barn door and walked in quietly looking around a bit before going to where she thought he might be hiding but paused and just sat down outside the stall he was in and sat the bowl on the doorway as she leaned on the outside of the stall quietly unsure of exactly what to say but knew he wouldn't leave without the medicine, she was sure he wanted the process to slow down
Once again the young witch left for the day after wishing Kiyan good luck. Adaza just sighed after a bit. He could sense Kiyan outside of his stall. "Renia told you were I was didn't she?" He spoke softly to her. She didn't have to answer, he already knew she did. She was a kind soul and helped everyone she could. "Kiyan, please, just leave." He told her softly. The bowl in the doorway sunk into the shadows. Picking up the bowl, he drank the horrible tasting liquid. He set the bowl aside and continued to stare into the darkness.
"Why do you insist on being alone? Why aren't you back in your home with your daughter and pestering my brother? At least... until you couldn't anymore..." Kiyan asked quietly not moving even as the tears welled up in her eyes as she gripped the bracelet he gave her and closed her eyes. "I know you don't really want to spend the rest of your life alone Adaza... you fought way too hard for Lynia and Kayo... and even me... are you just going to let everything you've fought for just pass you by? Aren't you willing... to just hear out a person that's in a similar situation?" Kiyan asked quiet unsure if he would know or remember that the spirit that she had been blessed by lived much longer then most of her kind and even the other spirits, everyone she cared about would die well before her... except him it seemed
"I hurt Lynia." Adaza simply told her. "I went back to my castle after visiting Ashura. When Lynia hugged me, my power surged, she lost an arm and her sight." He looked down sadly at the floor in front of him. He could remember her cries of pain and Kayo's words. He left right after that event, he didn't want to repeat it ever again. She had no idea how bad that was eating away at him, his own daughter thought of him as a monster and he was. He couldn't control his powers. Next time who knows what would happen when it surged. The stall he was in was completely dark except for the doorway and what flooded in. It was completely covered in frost as well.
Kiyan went silent at this and looked down tears falling at the thought of Lynia being hurt but she wasn't upset with Adaza... just lynia being hurt... it wasn't his fault after all, he couldn't help it. "I... don't want to leave you Adaza... I feel... so alone when you're not close..." she said quietly sadness in her voice as the tears fell from her eyes.
Adaza just sighed in defeat. "I'm a monster, no good will ever come from being around me. Leave Kiyan." He rested his head back against the wall of his stall. He closed his eyes. He didn't want her here, he cared too much about her. If he had to he would say anything to get rid of her. In fact it seemed like the only way. "Just get it through your worthless head, I do not want you here. I left you for a reason. Take a hint and leave for once." He hissed darkly to her. His heart was tugging roughly in his chest at every word.
"You're not a monster" Kiyan frowned but then felt her heart breaking a bit when she heard him and stood tears streaming down her face as she just left without another word pausing at the door to the barn before frowning more and headed outside but didn't fly off, instead she just climbed up into the tree and found a nice sturdy and thick branch to sit on. She decided to sit up there and just let the tears fall as she put her face in her hands. Maybe she could talk to Renia... she had after all spent the most time with him since he really started to change... mayne she even knew about how Kiyan could help him... it wasn't something that she was willing to do for just anyone... just for him... she wasn't even sure if she would have done it for Kaji
