Ares - God of war. He was very aggressive. He was unpopular with both gods and humans. Ares was not invincible, even against mortals. He personified the brutal nature of war. He was immortal but whenever he would get hurt he would run back to his father, Zeus and was healed. Ares was mainly worshipped in Thracia. http://roxyjames.files.wordpress.com.../aphrodite.gif Aphrodite - The goddess of love and beauty. Aphrodite loved and was loved by many gods and mortals. Among her mortal lovers, the most famous was perhaps Adonis. Some of her sons are Eros, Anteros, Hymenaios and Aeneas (with her Trojan lover Anchises). Perhaps the most famous legend about Aphrodite concerns the cause of the Trojan War. She was the wife of Hephaestus. The myrtle was her tree. The dove, the swan, and the sparrow were her birds http://fc09.deviantart.net/fs13/f/20...iest_Usada.jpg Persephone- A female woman who was sacrificed to the god Apollo. She started off as a priestess for the goddess Aphrodite. She is eighteen years old. |
Helena had been busy all morning with her 5 children, all but Maximus were now gone doing their daily works, her husband was out fighting and she remained home with her youngest. Maximus cried from his crib and she walked over gently lifting him. “Soon little one you won’t be hungry… but I will be with you forever.” She said sadly, the news that the god of war had called for a soldier’s wife and son had reached her yesterday and her name had been the one given as the sacrifice. Maximus was to be the sacrificed son and not his elder brother. She had no right to question what the acolyte had said, yet she doubted a go would ask for such a sacrifice. Once she was done feeding the child he fell in to a deep sleep. She headed to the stove where the herbs brewed, she knew he would be sacrificed first; the thought of him suffering had stirred something in her.
When the guards came for them she took the moment alone with her child to feed him the herbal mix, knowing it would numb his pain and put him to sleep. She carried him with her as she was paraded towards the sacrificial temple. As she walked through the streets she caught sight of her husband’s sister who had her older children. The twins crying, barely 6 they knew what was going on, their younger siblings watched bewildered and confused, 2 and 4 years old. She would miss her brave 4 year old son and her wise 6 year old twins. Her two year old was charming in her own way, yet she would never see the woman they would grow up to be or the men. She kept her face steady and her head up as she held the son who would be leaving with her. She didn’t shed tears till she was lone, the acolyte watched with proud eyes, amused at his own deed as her child was torn from her arms and carried to the alter, she was held back by cross speared and uncaring faces. The small baby didn’t fight, didn’t cry… no one cared though and she knew it was the herbs at work. The silver dagger spilled pure blood as prayers and incantations were made. Next she was led; through where the blood was pooling on the ground her feet dipped in the blood of her infant. Helena wept for her child as she was placed beside him on the pedestal for the god, Ares. She didn’t feel the pain and next thing she knew, she was waking, waking up next to her crying infant, whose cries begged for his mother’s embrace, she didn’t even realize where she was and merely turned scooping up the child in to her arms. Apollo looked to his twin, she was quietly humming as she watched a pool of water, he had never seen like her in the pool. She said she saw many miracles, he told her all he saw was his reflection. This time though he was eating one of the fruit sacrifices sent to his sister. He ate the apple in morsels, savoring the flavor of the harvest. “So, you got yours, what do you think they are sacrificing me this time, a giant Bull?” he already knew his sacrifice was human, yet he wasn’t about to share this. His sister chuckled at his comment as she turned to him, placing her hands on his shoulders she moved close hugging him round the neck. “Perhaps you should head to where the human sacrifices awaken and find out yourself?” he sighed muttering something she smirked. “Come now brother, don’t be so sour, I’m sure Ares is there already awaiting his maiden, you never know, you might like this one, if not then you can give her to Aphrodite, she loves woman and men alike. Apollo got to his feet and began to head to the part of the mountain, a giant fountain sprung from the ground where the human’s sacrificed would arrive. |
Ares stood in the area where his sacrifice would arrive. He grinned as he watched the woman show up along with her infant child. She was beautiful. Aphrodite stood near him a smirk playing on her face. "What would you want a mortal for anyways?" she asked her voice thoughtful. "I need a bride and as no goddesses care for me I thought I would force a mortal to be mine." Aphrodite nodded and then feeling a tug at her she headed away from him to her pool. As she gazed into the water this is what she saw.
Persephone wandered around her temple taking a last look around. She was to be sacrificed to the gods. Having no idea which god would get her she could only pray that Aphrodite would actually meet her. She had been born and raised as a priestess to the goddess Aphrodite. Refusing to take any pleasure from her goddess she was still pure and untouched by man or woman. Her parents had long ago died and she was found on the alter of Aphrodite. The priestesses of Aphrodite raised her to be a priestess. She had no idea why she was selected to be a sacrifice and sighed softly as she heard the souund of approaching feet. Her outfit swayed in the wind as she walked outside and glanced at the men who had come to claim her as a sacrifice. They led her away from her temple and to the temple of Apollo. She recognized his temple from the giant sun on the awning above the doorway. She could feel tears falling down her cheek as she was led to the alter where priests and priestesses awaited her. They surrounded the alter and she waited tears still flowing down her face as she was lain onto the alter. Suddenly she saw a knife lifted above her and letting out a gasp as the blade plunged into her chest straight into her heart. She opened her eyes which had closed automatically as the pain started and stared up at the huge mountain called mount olympus. She felt her chest feeling no hole where she had been stabbed. She stood up from the ground and gazed about her in great wonder. |
Helena looked up and around once she noticed where she was, eventually there was a bright light that burst from the ground and a girl appeared beside her. Helena could see a small mark, two swords crossed, on her son’s forehead. She knew it was the sign of Ares; this was how she knew she belonged to him also. With her young in one hand she helped the other girl stay standing. She saw the sun on the girl’s arm. It was then she noticed the god’s and goddess watching them. The first was obviously Ares, the second came bounding down on gold wings of fire. Landing a few feet away, h was mischievous in look and she looked to the other girl. Ignoring them she smiled. “Oh you’re looking for your wound aren’t you.” She smiled looking to the gods again the smile drops. “It seems we are at Olympus, my name is Helena.” She tried to remain composed on it all but her heart and head were racing. Her infant nuzzled softly against her body.
Apollo had flown down in time to see the fountain spurt more light from the ground and his sacrifice to appear. She seemed shocked and then got to her feet another woman was nearby. He could smell Ares on her and turned to face the two other high beings. Aphrodite the very woman who made him despise other woman. She was not faithful to one being for long so he saw no reason why any other woman would be. He let his frown lift as he smiled at the new girl, he wondered how long she would last, most girls were driven mad by his inability to accept them, or jealousy of the other gods. They usually longed to go in his chariot with him OR be with another god. He didn’t speak up letting all the others exchange words. |
Ares made his way to the girl with a smirk on his face. He looked at the loving way she nuzzled her babe and knew she would be the perfect bride for him. She had motherly affection and that was a good quality for he wanted children. He watched Aphrodite leave and wondered for a moment where she had gone and then shrugging he walked up to his new bride. "I am Ares god of war and you are now mine. You will be a devoted wife and mother."
Aphrodite walked up to the girl who stood up from the ground and smiled at her. "You are Persephone a priestess of mine. What are you doing here?" As Aphrodite approached her she frowned and backed away some. A moment later she smiled and walked forward giving Aphrodite a bow. "O mighty Aphrodite I have been sacrificed to Apollo." Aphrodite growled "Remind me to punish him for stealing one of my priestesses." She turned and walked away. "Apollo I see you." she said walking up to him her face in a frown. "I should punish you for getting one of my preistesses." Persephone followed Aphrodite pausing to bow to her every two steps. She stood behind her and listened to the gods talking not doing anything but admiring Aphrodites outfit. |
Apollo sighed “keep her then her infatuation with you is all too apparent, I didn’t ask for a sacrifice.” Then he felt his sister’s arms round his neck, affectionately speaking.
“oh brother don’t be too hasty, a priestess is a fine gift, take her for a while you would do her great disrespect in rejecting her.” He sighed and nodded, Artemis jumped down and over to the girl. “Stop bowing or you will have your head to the ground many times, priestess of Aphrodite what is your name?” Apollo let her talk and turned his attention towards Aphrodite. “I want nothing to do with you, if it weren’t for Artemis I would throw your priestess to you but I shant disrespect a woman who unknowingly doted on you. With this he headed to his sister and his new sacrifice. “I was already a mother and wife, I didn’t desire to be sacrificed, nor did my child deserve to be. I can’t understand why you wanted me; your ways are of war. Not to mention I’m sure you could have your pick of many of the beautiful goddesses.” She didn’t want to mention that she didn’t desire to belong to him other and left it as that. Even saying all this she bowed to him, she was after all merely a mortal. |
Aphrodite growled and stomped away. "You will pay Apollo and Artimis." She made her way to her pool and sitting in the cool waters she let her frustrations go away from her by soaking in the water.
Ares stared at the girl. "I merely demanded a wife with a child. I did not know they would choose you. Now stop bowing and come with me immediatly." He was afterall a god of war and as such he demanded strict obediance. He made his way to his home and stopped in front of it and looked at the girl behind him. "This is your new home. " He entered the house which was a huge three story house and looked quite grand. It was done completely in red as this was Ares favorite color. He paused in the kitchen and pointed to a mat on the floor in the corner. "This is your bed. Your son has his own room. You will live in the kitchen. I expect a fresh meal three times a day and when I order you you may sleep with me. " He reached out for the child. "Hand him over as you will not be in charge of his care anymore. You will be to busy keeping my house neat and orderly. He shall have a nanny." "Persephone Mighty one." She knew how to talk to the gods. She was very respectful towards them all. She almost cried as Aphrodite left. She sighed and stood perfectly still watching the god Apollo make his way towards her. |
Helena was never so bold before yet the moment he tried to take Maximus away she clutched him to her. “I will make your meals, and I will do as you say in any way but I will not hand over my child, he is precious to me as the only thing I have left from before. Did you expect obedience from such a woman as you asked for, no mother enjoys leaving her children and then to ask me to leave the one who came with me too, you are a fool if you think I shall just hand him over.” She looked to the mat and then back at him. “I will decide if I am to lay with you, after all I may have been sacrificed to you but I do not belong to you in that way, it is my own body.” With this she turned from him, her child on her hip too scared that if she were to put him down Ares would whisk him from her side, she knew it was risky to disobey a god, especially in his own home.
Apollo chuckled at Aphrodite and turned to Persephone, “I might keep you just to keep her angry, I’m sure you disagree with this…” he studied her “well you are a beauty but as to be expected from a follower of Aphrodite, if you were ugly she would not have claimed you she’d have thrown from Olympus and laughed as your body broke.” Artemis sighed at him. He turned jumping and flying back to his own home, the place was decorated beautifully in gold and symbols of the sun. The other half of his home was silver with the moon, and in-between that was a few rooms decorated in both silver and gold, these were the rooms Persephone was lead to by Artemis. Artemis sat down with the girl “do not take my brother’s words to heart, he has some past with Aphrodite which didn’t make it to mortal ears, she tricked him and froze his heart. The only thing to have warmed it is his daily trips with the sun. You are pure and I can see that, I’m surprised as most Aphrodite’s followers indulge in… activities.” She smiled looking down the grand hall they were in to a sectioned off area, it was sectioned off by a large white curtain. “Even if he pretends not to want you here, when he heard he was being offered a woman he built this area between our homes just for you.” She rose and walked towards the large white curtain lifting it, beneath it was a room of luxuries, everything was silk, goose feathers and mahogany, it was blue, silver and white, pure clean and crisp colors. “If the colors are not to your liking, we can have them changed, this is my brother’s gift to you…” |
Chuckling softly Ares looked at his prize. "A spirited one you definitly are. You are to keep my house neat and prepare all my meals and if that child keeps you from these chores he will be taken from you. As for laying with me you have no option. You have no reason to be shy as you are not a virgin. I want sons and lots of them so they will keep you busy all the time along with caring for my needs. Do you understand me woman?"
Staring around her Persephonie smiled. She decided not to reply to the god but stared down at the grass distracting herself. His words hurt her badly but she did not make it known. If she were not accepted by this god then what would happen to her? She followed Artemis to the house. She smiled as she took in the lovely colors and items. "I thank the great god Apollo for all of these things. Am I required to do chores and stuff for him? After all I am his to command." |
She smiled in relief to him letting Maximus stay at her side, the child could just about walk so she put him down at her side. “If that is the way it has to be…” was all she said, keeping Maximus was worth the price of anything. He let out a small giggle before walking unsteadily towards something on the floor. She walked after him seeing he had found a spoon of sorts on the floor; she let him play with it. “He hasn’t distracted me from my duties before so I don’t see why he would now.” She added smiling down at him.
Artemis watched the girl with intrigue “oh no, Apollo doesn’t require anything of you, except you be happy. I’m sure he would like it if you prepared meals for him, but he won’t scold you if you don’t he is a very free spirit, that is why he was wings by Zeus, he must protect them when he goes on his duty, or they will burn up so close to the sun.” she laughed softly. “I have a hunt to help but I will return, the silver part of this place is mine, the gold is his. As I said before, don’t take his words to heart, I’m sure he will warm to you in time, for now if you wish to see him he is probably in his chambers relaxing…” She got to her feet leaving. “If you require anything just ask it of him…” Apollo lay on his front eating the grapes as he looked in to the fire watching the mortals for entertainment. |
Ares grinned at the woman. "Then woman I expect to see my meal in one hour. The food is in the pantry and dishes are in the cabnets. There are trays for serving on top of the shelves above the table. I will be in my chambers if you need me. That is the room that is second on the left on the second floor." With that he turned away and headed into his room. He sat down on his couch and sighed. This is working better than I would have thought. His room had pictures of chariots all over the walls and it was completely red all over the walls and ceiling. There was a golden fireplace in one corner and a huge canopy bed in another. He grinned as he sat on the couch in the middle of the room. This girl was perfect.
Persephone nodded her head. "Have a good hunt mighty Artemis." She waited until she left and then took off to explore the place she had been told belonged to the gods. She started with Artemis' side and when she was done running through every room she took off to Apollos side. As she walked around admiring everything she opened a door and found herself in Apollos chambers. She kneeled down in front of him and smiled. "Greeting my lord." |
She got straight to it, Maximus happily playing as she prepared a meal for Ares. She couldn’t help but wonder about the other girl who she had come here with. She had seen her leave with Artemis and Apollo, or she presumed from how the two had acted and spoken that was who they were. She had seen a mansion on the way up, with the moon and sun; this made it obvious it was Apollo. She kept track of time and brought Ares his meal, cleaning up as she did. “I am going out but will be back in no time,” she said heading to the kitchen and picking up her young son before heading out and over to the other home.
Apollo chuckled at her, “I do not require the same speaking patterns as your beloved. Yet still, greetings my mortal dear.” He seemed in a better mood then before. “I believe I spoke harshly to you before, can you ever forgive me?” he was being polite, Artemis had told him to be so he was trying. |
Staring at the delicious meal he shouted to her "Be back in an hour or you shall be punished." He looked at all the food set before him and began eating enjoying every last bite. After he finished his meal he sat back and fell asleep. As he slept he snored loudly making the house vibrate.
Staring at Apollo she stood up and her green eyes took in his features and his room. She stared at the grapes hungrily but dared not ask a god for anything. She continued to watch him studying him closely for a few moments before replying to him. "Of course I forgive you my Lord for you are almighty and powerful. I would never ever think of holding a grudge against a god or goddess. I was raised to revere you and worship you as that is my job. Will you please accept this girl as your new slave?" She spoke out of the heart her chest heaving up and down as she spoke and tears running down her cheeks. Her outfit billowed out as she moved from foot to foot trying to ignore the growling of her stomach. |
Apollo felt guilty for how she was acting, the tears seeming to shake him up slightly he got too his feet. He was no fool and had seen her eyes and heard her stomach. He moved forward placing a hand on the side of her face. “Please talk to me like I am any other being, I do not require these kind noble words from you, of course I accept you so please don’t cry.” He turned from her walking to the plate of fruit. “Please don’t hide things from me like your hunger… Aphrodite will have me lashed for making you starve,” he tapped the plate. “Please help yourself, or if you would rather, I can have some meat brought to you…” He couldn’t explain why he wanted to keep her close, she wasn’t his first sacrifice and the rest he had robbed and left them to the kitchen until they died, or given them to Artemis. He heard footsteps and smiled to Persephone. “There is a guest, for you…” he didn’t have to explain how he knew, but the footsteps were not intruding like a gods and no mortal would come to visit him. “Go… I will have food laid out for you and your guest…” He clapped and 3 girls, wearing golden collars and robes that were white and gold came over. “Please bring the young lady and her guest some food, to where-ever she desires to meet them.”
Helena moved with her child through the house of Apollo, she could hear talking. She waited for Persephone to come out and once she saw her she smiled putting the child down. “Are you comfortable…” she said softly to the girl, she hoped she was more comfortable then herself. Apollo seemed more like a child than Ares. |
Staring at him as he approached her she stepped back for a moment. Her eyes were fearful. She stared at him for a moment before responding to his words. "Thank you Apollo. You truly are a god worth revering. You deserve all the followers you get." She blinked as the girls appeared and stared at the collars on there necks. She felt kind of sad that he had other slaves but then shook her head. Its normal for gods to have more than one slave after all they had a lot of needs to be fulfilled. She nodded as he told her she had a guest and made her way out of his room. She paused at the center of the house where Persephone's spot had been decided on.
Smiling she looked at the woman in front of her with her baby. Persephone had always desired a child but out of respect to her position she never attempted to have one. "Hello. I am very comfortable. Who are you?" she asked curiously never having seen this person before. "I am Persephone." |
Helena looked up “You arrived the same time as me, I left with Ares while you were talking with Aphrodite, Artemis and Apollo. The food laid out was mostly fruit and a few meats. She looked to the child who waddled over grabbing a handful of grapes and unmerciful shoving them in his mouth. “Maximus…” she said with a scolding tone and the baby giggled, she took them off the vine and handed him just the fruit. “My name is Helena, I was concerned with how he spoke to you originally that you might be unhappy…” smiling gently as Maximus munches away on the grapes. She’d gesture to him, “this is my youngest son Maximus, he was sacrificed with me…”
|
Persephone nodded. "Well its nice to meet you Helena. It is nice to meet your baby to. I hope that we can be friends. As for Apollo he is a generous and merciful god. Come see." She led Helene to her room with a smile hoping she would enjoy it as much as Persephone did. "He built this just for me when he heard I was to be sacrificed to him. I thought it was a wonderful gesture." She smiled as she looked around her room and how lovely it looked.
|
Helena laughed having left Maximus alone to indulge on the food when she followed Persephone. “He is treating you like a very special sacrifice that much is sure.” She frowned momentarily. “It is such a shame Ares demanded me so, he wants me to be his wife, and he says I will live in the kitchen, he requested me back in a hour so I can’t stay long, I also hope we can be friends. I hope I can trust you when I tell you this but, I wish I hadn’t been sacrificed I worry for my children I left behind.
|
Looking at her a moment Persephone smiled. "The wife of the god of war you are very lucky indeed. Remember we are sacrifices and we must spend all our time appeasing our masters. Do not spend time worrying about what you can't change. I was a priestess to Aphrodite before I was sacrificed. I love my position I am in for good reason. I get to see my idol. We can be friends but do try to stay positive. Its very important you do that for your son. At least you can be a good sacrifice."
|
She laughed slightly at how optimistic the girl was "I don't think i am lucky, he is a very rash man from the rumors, i did not ask to be a sacrifice so i do not see why i should try to appease him so, perhaps he should have begged for one of his priestess" she sighed softly moving to the child. "I was a mother and a wife before i was sacrificed, it is easy for someone who spent their whole life in the cradle of a god to fit in so well, not to mention he has you treated like a princess, he has many sacrificed girls yet you he treats in this way..." She picked up her son wiping his face off. "He tried to even take my son off me, told me someone else would raise him, but he is precious to me, i will make sure he is treated kindly even though he is just a mortal." heading out. "I must return to him..." was all she said, she didn't want to anger Area.
As soon as she left Apollo appeared playfully flying around like a soaring bird before stopping in front of Persephone "Are you still hungry? Artemis is back, that deceitful woman has been invited to the meal too." he didn't care to use Aphrodite's name. |
She listened to what Helena had to say with a smile. As she left she yelled at her "Remember to appease him no matter what." She sighed and looked down a moment before seeing Apollo flying around the room before he stopped and spoke to her. She nodded "I did not touch the food I am sorry Apollo but I was just not hungry enough to eat that. I am after all a vegitarian. I did not wish to eat the fruit because Helena needed it much more than I did. I am afraid Ares is not treating her well at all. She seems to think he is out to do her harm and I am worried." She took a deep breath during her pause using this time to observe him for a moment. "Would you like me to serve the meal?" She asked after a thoughtful moment.
Ares was standing at the door tapping his foot impatiently. The girl was not late yet but it was close so she had better be home soon. He was ready for his dinner. As he saw her approaching with that infernal child on her arm he smirked "Have a nice visit my dear?" |
Helena moved on to one knee when he spoke bowing her head to him. "Yes my visit was lovely, my lord." with this simple exchange she passed him and headed to the kitchen, placing her son down on the bed that was hers so he could rest, which he gratefully did. She took a moment to watch him sleep before getting to making Ares another meal. serving it to him, she keep her head up and her steps gentle around him.
Apollo laughed "Ares has a temper like nothing, do not worry for your friend... as for the not eating meat, why is that? Aphrodite does not ban it she loves meat herself but it is fine, i will have them prepare part of the feast specially for you, you will sit between me and Artemis," the last part he said with a playful smirk on his lips. He knew it would anger Aphrodite to no end for him to keep Persephone so close. He had heard her question about serving the food "i have slaves for serving the meals.." he muttered. Artemis padded in, a few children dancing around her, obviously sacrifices to her she plays with the closest ones hair. "Brother, the food is ready, Aphrodite is on her way here lets be seated..." |
