  • The news was not a good way to start the day in Andrew Sorveski's life. He believed it was probably the same for most of the other people inhabiting the islands. No matter what, though, he still turned on the news while he was getting dressed and ready to go to the engineering plant that he had obtained a few years prior; the time of his father's death. All the news held was the bad news of more thievery. Those damn pirates were making their raids much more quickly then they use too, and a lot of people, many he knew, were loosing things that were precious to them and their family. Andrew supposed that he was happy that there was rarely any causalities. Of course, how long would that last?

He clicked off the news and exited his room. Andrew's hand slid across the railing that was meant to keep people from falling over to the first floor. It was days like this that he was nostalgic, which he disliked. The estate he resided in was so empty, now that his family was all but gone and he hadn't settled down with anybody to make a family. It was a three story estate that was the most noted thing on the smaller island he lived on (Though really, it was still quite a sizable place). Everyone lived wealthy around there, but his estate was much more glamerous thanks to the hard work his family before him put into it. There were numerous bedrooms that he knew he would never use, a ball room that would be perfect for hosting parties and dances, a wonderous parlor as soon as you walked in, an amazing kitchen, the best yard a man could as for, including a fountain and small guest house, and even a large safe that was in his room, keeping safe tons of his family's holdings. Basically, Andrew was the most eligible bachlor around. And what did he do with all that breathing room? Work.

Maybe it was a working sickness that got passed down through the years, Andrew joked in his mind as he exited the estate and headed towards the plant, which was probably the next most popular thing about that particular part of the island. Of course he knew that sickness was a lie.
Walking to the plant, he took a small gander at the world around him. Being up on the islands was the most beautiful thing that many took for granted.

"We have a nice group of orders to fill today, chief," Ronnie called from the large double doors which were also on the other side, at the edge of the island and with a small landing strip. Perfect for most airships. "Chief?" He called out again to get Andrew's attention. That was a nickname he had always had, even though he was younger then most of the men there. His enineering skills were just excellent.

"Oh, yeah I figured we would. There are more airships out and about, trying to look for some of the pirate ships. And aparently they can't hire a good enineer if it bit them in the ass," Andrew commented and followed Ronnie into the plant. It was more like a garage, but garage seemed like too small of a name for such a large place.

When they walked in, Andrew knew he would have his work cut out for him. On the list were three airships that hadn't been docked for weeks. And that is what he spent most of his immediant life doing instead of chasing girls. He worked on Airships. And this order would take until somewhere around nightfall, or later.

Dreaming of Reality 12-17-2012 01:33 AM

The night was young; the skies were clear, the moon was the only light turning it into a perfect night for a raid. “Get up! Get up! The time is a tickin’ and we’re approachin’ the destination fast!” Bellowed a burly man at a group of crewmembers all fast asleep in the hold of the ship on hammocks. Some toppled out of their beds grumbling nonsense while most were on their feet climbing the ladder to the main deck. When their captain needed something they would be ready and alert, because the punishments would be brutal if they weren’t.

To many they were known as thieves, pirates, troublemakers that disrupted the balance between the rich and poor. For that many wanted them gone so it was crucial they made no mistakes and everything went as planned. “Tie those ropes tighter! Get ready! Stop complaining!” Annie barked as she tugged on a rope attached to the railing that kept her men aboard. If things weren’t right people could get hurt and she wanted none of that. Every raid not a single person got injured, they went in, got what they desired, and got out.

With a swift kick she knocked the coils of rope off the deck of her ship and observed them fall onto the roof of the mansion they were stealing from. A few crewmembers took their places in front of them with a coil of rope on their shoulders. “Be careful, injure no one, get a layout of the home fast and we will be with you in a few minutes.” She explained giving each one a reassuring pat on the shoulder as an okay to descend.

They hit the roof silently and quickly went to work finding a way into the aristocrat’s home, which usually amounted to breaking in. None of them knew whose it was and none of them really cared, they were there for the gold and trinkets, nothing else. So as silent as could be they immobilized house workers, gaged them and said they were sorry more times than one. They left them in a pantry of food tied together with the rope they brought with them and towels they found placed into their mouths.

Not hesitating they started collecting expensive looking items and placed them into a pile in the entryway of the home. This was for easy removal since the ship had been docked at a local docking area so no one suspected anything. The rest of the crew brought potato sacks and crates to carry things back. “Collect all that you can, it is okay if we can’t get it all. Need to leave something for them.” She said laughing the rest of the men laughing with her as they started to carefully fill their containers. Never once had they come back to grab something, one trip, one visit and it got crossed off their maps.

It didn't take them long to collect all that they could and start to file out of the house. Annie wanted them back on the ship before the sun started to rise. The plan would only work if they got to the docks before the docks came to life with workers. In seconds they would be noticed, their wardrobe stuck out since they couldn't afford anything fancy. Most of their shirts were ripped, they were covered in dirt and needed to take a shower. Since they all reeked none of them noticed and continued on until they were back amongst the lower class who gladly took care of them.

  • Andrew and his employees finished up the three ships sometime after dark. The moon could be seen shining in down through some open windows, casting a nice light on the night. He leaned up from his tools and stretched, his back popping in several places. "Ah, what a day, what a day," He chimed as he began to put the tools back up.

"Hey Chief," Ronnie said as he waved at some of the other men that were leaving for the night. "Um there is a funny ship on the list that didn't register the way the others did," He commented.

Andrew walked over, took a look, and shrugged. "It happens more than you would think. It's probably just a stow ship with some supplies that are extreamly tired. I wouldn't worry too much about it," He said and then patted his friend on the back. "I think it's time to head out, no need to continue working, even paper work. Today was long,"

Ronnie agreed and they both left, going their separate ways to their living. Andrew took in a nice breath of the cool nice air as he continued walking. He was nearing his estate when he realized that something was off. Some of the people that he kept passing he had never seen before, especially at that time of night when many of them would be sleeping. He moved off to the side before sticking his head around the corner slightly.

Raiders. His house was being hit. At first Andrew's first response was to start running for his house, to try and stop them. But then he backed up a few feet and turned around to head back to the plant. This was not happening. What did he ever do to get robbed?! What about the people that were working for him in his house?! His feet picked up the pace, but not too much to be noticable. When Andre got back to the plant he scurried around for the log books.

"That's it. That's how they hide," Andrew whispered to himself. He took down the dock number and left the building. The docks were not horribly far from the plant, since many of the men and women who docked came there to order parts or for the expertise about problems. He kept away from most people as he headed to the correct dock number. As one person walked by, he ducked behind a barrel of old parts that needed to be recycled. When he passed, Andrew got back up and continued. Finally he found the correct airship.

This was it. Taking a deep breath, Andrew climbed on board and quickly rushed to find somewhere to hide. What on earth was he doing?!

Just as the sun caressed the horizon Nadine and her crew were all aboard their rickety ship. The vessel was a medium sized airship modified in certain places to accommodate their needs. It looked as if it was built from a pile of scrap metal and any random parts they could scavenger. Should have been in a junkyard rather than in the air, but it worked beautifully and they did their best with what they had. At the top of the ship was a structure with glass walls where Nadine did all her navigating and a deck out the front for their raiding needs. The deck became a perfect spot to also stand and look down up on the cities and towns they flew over. It was Nadine’s favorite spot, so when the crew questioned building on top of it she completely denied it and crushed the thought on the spot.

Below the command center, the bridge, were the living quarters of the ship and where they spent most of their time. Right as a crewmember climbed down the ladder from the bridge they would be in the hold. The hold was an area where the men had put up hammocks for resting, a table with cards and empty mugs upon it, shelves of books and trinkets, and a few chests here and there. It was a makeshift living room in a sense with a door to the kitchen and then a hallway where doors to their cabins were located, the captains was at the very end.

From the kitchen one could open a hatch and travel down a ladder into the engine room that was also connected to their storage room that contained all their treasure. Down their with the storage and the engine rooms was their cells for prisoners that contained only wooden crates at the moment. They had no need for them since all they wanted was a way to give back to the people on land struggling to get by. Which was what started all the thievery.

With the night coming to an end the crew filed into the ship with their steals and put them all into that room admiring their handing work for the past week. “Beautiful ain’t it!” One of the crewmembers chimed as the pat each other on the back. A job well done minus the stowaway none of them had found yet.

“Come on everyone lets get this ship out of here and Benedict, cook us up something tasty before we all crash. Isaac, Isaiah, help me get the ship moving and undocked.” Nadine barked out orders to her crew wanting to get out of this area as soon as possible. Benedict, the ships nominated chef climbed the ladder into the kitchen and got to work on preparing food. Isaac and Isaiah, the crews troublesome twins separated, one went to the engine room to get the ship running and the other joined Nadine at the main deck.

Everything was going smoothly, they were pulling out of the docks as if they were never there and not a thing had happened. “Tonight was a good night.” Nadine said grinning at Isaiah who paused on the ladder to look at her. “Try to get some rest Cap’n Annie. Big day tomorrow.” He replied before disappearing into the lower deck to his cabin. Nadine took him up on the resting part and put the ship on autopilot before heading to her cabin like the rest of the crew.

  • It was when the ship started moving, that Andrew realized the predicament he had just put himself in. He was on an airship leaving the island in the sky he lived on, full of pirates. Not only that, but pirates that just raided his house. It hurt to see all of the loot they had pulled from his house when he was securely hiding. How long could he stay like that, though?

Andrew was on the main deck of the ship, behind some of the cargo items which consisted of a few barrels and bags of loot they had gotten on board before he had arrived. Basically; he was crammed and uncomfortable. There wasn't much he could do until they all went to sleep. Most of them went to get their rest after the raid and after a nice bite to eat. There was still one more on the main deck securing a few last minuet details, Andrew suspected, not that their ship was in any condition to be flown.

Just as if the heavens were against him the ship took too big of an ark, twisting Andrew off of his balance. His body leaned a little too far into the items he was hiding behind, toppling them over. "Shit," was about all Andrew could get out before the crew member looked his way.

The crew member was Charles. He was the cousin of Benedict, and quite the worker. Very often he made second checks on the ship before actually heading to sleep. It always made him feel better if he knew they wouldn't all wreck in the middle of the night or day. He rushed over to Andrew and pulled a knife out on him and raised it to his neck. "Now say one word an' ye dead," He said simply then pulled him up. Never once had they had a stow away on board. The only thing that Charles knew to do was tie him up and go get Nadine.

Dreaming of Reality 12-26-2012 06:26 AM

Not at all in pleasant mood, after Charles got her and shared the lovely news with her that they had a stowaway, she didn’t have an ounce of patience to deal with the man respectfully. “Throw ‘em into a cell and I’ll deal with him.” She grumbled a hand rubbing the scar on her face in thought. Never before had they had someone stowaway on their ship and she had no idea how to proceed. “Why today…” she exclaimed out loud but mainly to herself.

“It was bound to happen sooner or later Cap’n.” explained the crews’ onboard nurse, Valeria. Nadine had found her in a pub drinking her sorrows away because her lover left her broke and with nothing, so Nadine sold her on the idea of joining her crew. "I wish it could of happened yesterday!” Nadine bellowed throwing her arms up into the air in frustration always being one to be overdramatic for the fun of it.

That overdramatic attitude came to a screeching halt as she walked over to the cell with their first and hopefully only prisoner. “Who are you an’ why are you on my ship?” she asked getting straight to the point her speech lacking the typical pirate accent. That was the thing though, they weren’t pirates and Nadine’s origins would probably shock her crew enough to have them leave her. Which is why she made them call her Annie since no one needed to know about her past life.

“Now… should I throw you off my ship or leave you to rot in that cell…” she mused taking a seat on a crate right in front of the metal bars that separated him. The only reason she said that was incase he would give her some attitude and not answer her questions. She was the one with the power to dictate his faith and she was going to make sure he knew that even if she would never dare harm him.

foxotanashi 12-27-2012 01:27 AM

  • Being tied up was far from comfortable. Not only that, but the pirates were not being gentle in anyway. As Andrew was in the cell, he had no idea why he had gotten on board in the first place. It was a purely bad idea.

"Look, I'm not a bad guy here. I was just walking home from work when... I saw your men.... raiding my home," Andrew said simply. What was he going to tell her if not the truth? Maybe he wouldn't actually be left to rot if she knew that it wasn't in his mind to sabotage them or anything. He just... wanted his items back. It's all he really had, anyway.

While he was talking, Andrew was trying to think of anyway to get out of the predicament he was in.

Dreaming of Reality 12-27-2012 01:55 AM

The answer she received from their prisoner did not please her at all. "Like we knew it was your home and we won't be headin' back that way for awhile." she stated figuring he wanted his things which he would not be getting back. It would be months before they even attempted to go in the vicinity of his home because of the bounties on their heads. That alone made Nadine want to enter the cell and shake some sense into the person before her. Could they not see what it was like for the people below them? Inhaling deeply she tried to relax before simply staring at him.

"Bad guy or not you are stuck on this ship. We won't be landing for at least two days and it won't be on an island. So try your best to get comfortable on a ship with people who don't like you for your status." she finished giving him a fair warning of the treatment he would receive. He would find no respect where he was going and where he was now. They had a prejudice against island dwellers and had no desires to associate with them.

So with her questioning done knowing she would get nothing of importance out of him she stood and moved the crate back to it origin against the wall. Taking a quick glance back at him she rubbed her brow, her frustration building up again. How did he get on her ship? That was the only question repeating in her head over and over again.

foxotanashi 12-27-2012 03:38 AM

  • This was bad, and Andrew realized this. For days he would be stuck there and she had just said that no one liked him because of his status. So basically he was screwed in just about every way possible. What in his mind gave him that idea in the first place?!?!?!

"Oh come on" Andrew mummbled as he headed to the back of his cell and sat down, leaned on it. "The name's Andrew," He called out for no reason in particular. Maybe that was his problem: Maybe he needed to start thinking a lot more before doing anything at all.

Dreaming of Reality 01-08-2013 04:18 PM

There were two people interested in him, for all the wrong reasons though. The twins Isaac and Isaiah stood side by side before his cell watching him quietly. “Do you think he has fangs?” Isaiah asked and the other smacked him upside the head. “Why the hell would he have fangs? He is clearly human like us.” Isaac lectured his younger sibling, but it was only by two minutes. “Vampires look like humans.” Isaiah retorted his wild imagination coming up with crazy ideas. With a roll of his eyes Isaac moved closer to the cell Andrew was in.

“Hey, Andrew. Why the hell did you come on our ship unarmed and with nothing?” he asked staring at him. If he wanted to stop their raid he surly would of brought a weapon or a way to take them out. “Were you planning to ambush us in our sleep?” he asked letting the questions flow out because he couldn’t figure their prisoner out at all. Isaiah on the other hand had crouched down to get a better look at Andrew.

foxotanashi 01-08-2013 07:45 PM

  • So far the twins were quite a show. Andrew was pretty sure his skin was a little too dark from working and things to be light enough to look much like a vampire's skin. He didn't laugh, though, not wanting anything bad to come from it.

Andrew looked over at them and shrugged. Of course he didn't know specifically why he came aboard. It was just a spur of the moment type thing, and apparently a really bad one. He held up his hands; of course he didn't come on with any weapons. He hadn't thought of that either. Then again it wouldn't have mattered much unless he was some kind of ninja. Which he wasn't. "I'm sure I don't look like I came here to ambush you in your sleep.," He said chuckling at himself slightly. "Anyway, I wouldn't even know how to start and it was just kind of... a random thing. And a bad idea,"

    Rubbing his face, Andrew sighed.
