She could feel the large amount of blood leaving her body. It was leaving her numb. Everything seemed to be slowing down. She had wanted to be held by Dan again, but not for this reason. Struggling through the pain, she strained to say, "Dan... hey... my love..." grimacing, she tried again. "I know I wanted to be held by you again. Sorry I went to such great lengths..." Squeezing her eyes shut as a particularly piercing pain shot through her, she opened her wet eyes again to look up into Dan's. His were what make the world okay. Raising a shaky, bloody hand up to his his cheek, she begged, "Kiss me Dan."

Dan put his phone down, he was still applying pressure to the wound but it didn't seem to be helping anything. He looked deep into her eyes. He softly forced a smile. "If that's all you wanted I would have done it if you asked." He said. Tears began to fill his eyes. He didn't want to live without her. Nothing could fill the void if she left him. He gently leaned over to her and cressed his lips with hers, she was quite a bit colder now. He pulled her into him and kissed her with as much passion as he could. The tears were now all he could see. He wipped them away with his sleeve. "I need you." he said softly.

Feeling his lips on hers sent tingling sensations up and down her spine. Then his arms tightened as he put all his love into their kiss. It brought back something, sort of like a flashback but not. A sensation of such a kiss and the feeling of safety it brought. It was fleeting and gone just as quickly as it had arrived. Sleep pulled at her and blackness reached from the edges of her eyes. "Then I will ask and never stop asking," she whispered. Her body slowly going limp with only his heat keeping her warm. Using the last of her energy, she pushed the words out, "I love you." The darkness came crashing around her now pulling her into oblivion.

He brushed his clean hand threw her hair as he felt the last bit of life in her leave. "I love you to." he said. He held her dead body even closer to him, and could no longer hold anything else in. He began to weep like a man has never wept in his life. "Please... Please come back to me... I can't do this with out you." Dan said. He began to rock back and forth with her in his arms. "Please..." the robbers were long gone. there were a few people from the hospital mending the ones where not to bad hurt. A large man came up to Dan. "Sir, we need to take her." he said. Dan refused to let her go. "No... no she'll come back... Its my fault. she's hurt." He looked to the man. The man stood to his full height. "We have one over here." he called out to the others. two more men came to Dan. "Sir she's gone... We have to take her." all dan could think about was her life. The two of the men held Dan as the other one took Diana away from him. "NO!!!" he yelled out. He tried to get up and get to her, but the two men held him down.

It had been a month since she had died in his arms, he looked to his closet and found his best black suit. He had staid in his house since that had happened. He now had no reason to live, she was the one and only person who made it bearable to be live in this world, and he knew this, because he was having to do it without her. He arrived at the funereal a few mins early. Her mother embraced him. "She told us about you." she said softly. "Though we though you were a figment of her imagination. She was a lively one our Diana." she said softly as her eyes filled with tears. Dan was without words. He had nothing left to give to anyone.

~~*~~ In another realm, on another world. ~~*~~

The young lady walked down the path with her fiance at her side. She was the heiress of the castle just up the hill. One of many noble families in the kingdom. This garden was more like a forest as it extended in manicured trails with resting places for a ways. Diana looked up at the tall man next to her. He was always such a charmer. Sadly, the thoughts of what it should be like to be in love and love in reality were not on the same page. Still, she did care about him. Her guard dog, a large husky, trotted beside her. He had been with her since she was young and he was a pup. Still, despite his age, he was a good companion to take with them.

The air was still around them. Greg paused and pulled Diana to a stop. "Honey, we are engaged now. The wedding is only a month away. It is common for people to get together before their wedding night." She shook her head, "Sorry Greg. When I stand before the congregation and king, I'll be telling the truth as I take my vows in purity." She started to walk on, but he pulled her back. "Diana, it is okay. It isn't like anyone is going to know. This park is huge and extensive. I doubt anyone is even within a mile of here." Heart hammering, she said in a low voice, "You have my answer. Let go of my arm." He raised an eyebrow. She swallowed and tried to pull her arm free. He grinned as he pulled her roughly against him, grabbing her other arm and using his body weight to make her fall backwards.

She landed hard on her back, his body weight crushing her waist as he used her as a cushion. With the breath knocked out of her, and her hands quickly pinned above her chest, there was little she could do. Then her dog leaped forward. His jaws snapped onto her fiance's throat and his momentum sending both of them flying over. She sat up, sore, and stared in dumbfoundment. Her dog had a lethal grip on his neck, blood was spraying out in heartbeats from his jaw. In his desperation, he pulled out a knife and rammed it up her dog's ribcage. Diana screamed her pain as she watched both fiance and canine guardian die in the bloodbath they had created.

After saying a few words at Diana's funereal Dan went home and cried a bit more. He looked at the coffee table, and thoughts of that there life could be flooded his mind. Images of Him and her growing old filled his mind every time he closed his eyes. When he slept small children entered his dreams they always had her smile and his eyes. He awoke in the middle of the night tears running down his cheeks he knew from this point on he could no long do this. "I must end this." he said to himself out loud. Dan knew this was going to be the end of his life. What once my have scared him about not knowing where he would go, He was now fine with death. At least he would be free of his memories of her, or at least he hopped. The memories were bitter sweet for him. Walking to the back of his closet he and grabbed the hand gun from under a sheet, He got it right after Diana died. He wasn't going to be alone any longer. He took the gun to his head and held it there for a moment. "Good bye." he said as he pulled the trigger.

Dan woke up in a bit of haze. Something was quite wrong, he could remember everything about every life he had ever lived. It was something quite unusual He stretched a bit to find four paws in front of himself. Was he dreaming. No he wasn't he remembered a new life a life as a pup growing to the point he was now. He stretched a bit more before getting up to find some food.

It was a dull life that had overcome her. Even love could betray. Diana stood in the stables beside her horse. No more casual walks for her. It was horseback from here on out. She still had yet to find another guardian. Both families had been dismayed when they had learned of the tragic news. She went into mourning despite not having actually been married, causing other noble families to back off and not send their sons to pursue her. She didn't mind. Mounting up, her Jasmine and Rose perfumes colliding about her in the air, she turned and went into a canter from the castle grounds towards the large park and the woods beyond. Cantering was not enough, she forced her horse into a gallop as if to escape the void inside of her.

Dan ran threw the forest smell threw the forest, the smell of wild hare. He followed the smell till he got to the borrow. He began to dig till he could see its white little tail then to a big bit. After he got it he made his way back to his den, but before he could make it home he felt something sharp around his right back paw. He let out a howl in pain. His white fur stained red from the blood. He wimppered as he tried to brake free.

Her horse reared at the sound of a howl nearby. Diana pulled him to a stop and listened. There weren't answering howls so he was alone. Recognizing a fellow creature in grief, she turned the horse off the path and into the woods. Slowly working her way around, Diana saw a creature come into sight. A large canine of some species with it's paw caught in a trap. Leaving the horse a ways back because he was skittish, she approached on foot. "Hey there, easy, easy..." she said softly, coming to kneel just out of his reach to see how he reacted to her.

Dan pulled a bit more, he knew that if the farmers came and saw him he would be dead for sure. He heard the stir of a horse from a bit a ways. Dan looked about trying to find a way out, but as he looked he couldn't find a way out. Then he heard her. He looked up in amazement It was her it Was Diana, wasn't it, He let out a soft growl unsure if she knew who he was his bared his teeth towards her. When he heard the words she spoke he calmed down a bit, he then turned his attention to his bleeding paw. Dan began to lick it, he wanted to see how deep it really was. The pain shot up his leg and he couldn't help but wimper a little. His gaze fell to Diana His eye bows arched towards her.

Watching him in concern, Diana waited. When he looked back at her again, she cooed softly, "It must really hurt. If you let me, I can at least remove the trap." She wondered why she thought an animal could possibly understand her words. A wild animal at that. Still, perhaps he would understand the sound of her emotion. "Let me see okay?" She slowly started reaching for his paw.

Dan laid his head on the ground and and looked up at her with his blue eyes. He wished he could tell her everything, but he knew that she couldn't understand him. He watched as she dealt with the trap. Once his foot was free he ran for it, Dan didn't want to cause her any trouble, but he also knew that she didn't know what he knew. He wanted to watch her from a far for a bit. untill she really needed him.

Seeing that he was able to run, Diana felt relief. Still, a part of her was strangely disappointed. Not sure what to make of that emotion, she rose and walked back to her horse. Gathering the reins, she mounted and headed back for the park path. At least she had helped someone feel better. Looking down at her black clothing, she could honestly say she still didn't feel that great. The void was still there. Sighing, she went walked her horse back towards the castle. There was talk about a picnic later today and she might as well go.

Dan licked his wounds for a Minuit and then followed the fair maiden. He staid hidden so the guards wouldn't see him. He watched as she guided her horse, Dans bright blues eyes shown threw the dark green bushes. He could tell that something wasn't quite right. He followed her with the dissidence.

Reaching the stables, she dismounted and walked around towards the front. There were some guests arriving. She kept silent. They were so busy chattering and gossiping that no one noticed her silence, or her presence for that matter. Diana observed the servants with the picnic baskets walking towards them. Creating a group of maybe 12 in all, they all headed down the road towards a calm lake. Folding her arms over themselves as they walked, Diana fought the impulse to simply turn and run. She was expected to be a part of society, mourning or not.

Dan followed close behind Diana, He even walked past a few people. When he followed her he forgot that he was a wild animal, everything felt so different when he was around her. He looked around to realize quite a few humans where just staring at him. He ran as fast as he could back to the woods. He has lost her, but he knew he could find her by smell. He put his nose to the ground and began the search. Dan quickly found her sent and followed it to the lake. He looked up to see her face, he ran to her quickly and laid his head in her hand, he then softly licked her hand.

Looking down in surprise, Diana's eyes widened at the sight of the wild canine she had helped earlier. Still, a part of her felt super grateful. She had missed having a companion and his affection towards her was extremely welcome. There was no hiding the gratefulness in her sad eyes. Reaching down, she scratched behind his ears and smiled. One of the party looked over and noticed him. Raising an eyebrow, she asked, "You have replaced your lost guardian?" Another commented, "With the death of her fiance, she is lonely. I can understand getting a new dog. Or is that a wolf?" Diana gave them a weak smile, the first in awhile, "I recently... acquired him. His name is..." Diana paused. What would she call him. Looking down at him thoughtfully, she decided to have it start with D just like her name. "Dan." Confusion filled her at that, but she shook her head and kept walking. The lake's beautiful gleam a perfect scenic place. Off to the side the servants started setting up the picnic.

Dan waited as she talked to the others, all he really wanted was some alone time with Daina. He wagged his tail and smiled with his eyes when she pet him. Dan gently put his nose in her hands when she stopped petting him. He then gently licks her hand again then looks up at her. He wanted to let her know that he would be beside her no matter what. He looked to the others for a moment, he found that a soft growl came up, he wasn't sure where it really came from, but all he knew was that he was going to keep Daina safe. When she game him the name his tail began to wag again. Dan followed close behind slightly limping from his hurt leg.

Diana watched his limp with concern. Breaking away from the group, who was splitting into couples anyways, she led the way to the servants. Quietly she asked, "Do you have a first aid packet I could use?" They nodded and one went and pulled it out. Count on the servants to always have what she needed. Leading the way to a tree by the lake edge, Diana sat down and gently urged Dan into her lap.

Dan was a little bit behind the group after a while he realized that Diana was urging he to come to her. For a second he tilted his head to the left and let on ear perk up while the other drooped. He paused for a moment looking to the other people. He then slowly walked over to Diana he circled a little before laying next to her, he laid his head on his tail and stretched out his back lets while crossing his front ones. Dan looked up to her, and let out a yawn that showed all his teeth. Dan then closed his eyes.

Reaching over to pet him, she said softly, "I know you probably don't understand what I am saying. I want to take a look at your injured foot. It probably won't feel that good for me to work on it, but it is for the best." She hesitated, then shifted so that she could easily reach his paw. Stroking just above the injury, she checked to see if he was reacting badly to her.

Dan stayed still but wined a little. He looked to her with his blue eyes and gently licks his wound. Dan then licked her hand trying to tell it was okay to work on his wound. He trusted her more then anyone, but that because he knew there past, there lives had been connected since the begging of time. After licking her hand he put his head back on his front paws and closed his eyes.

Feeling more confident, she carefully began cleaning out the cuts and putting medicine on them. Wrapping the lower leg carefully but tightly, she motioned the servants over to her. Sending one with a message that she was leaving early to the others, she rose and walked slowly with her new found friend back towards the castle. Time to get him settled in. She didn't feel up to the company of those who could gossip anyways. These were violent times and what her fiance had attempted to do to her was just one of many concerns. Assassinations and even kidnappings were just as worrisome. Having to deal with public gossip and palace intrigue wasn't something she was up to. So humming softly, her jasmine and rose perfumes circled them both as she hiked back along the road towards her family's castle in her long skirts.
