"I've always liked you, Gage" Davir said softly to him then heard what he had to say about his blindness being a burden and pulled him to him wrapping his arms around him. He kept him close saying "If that's your reason, then my magic will also be a burden, but I know we could get through anything as long as we have each other. I know that sounds sappy, but I mean it, Gage" Davir spoke

(yes it took me this long to write it lol XD I told you I was flirting and my little girl was acting up)

A hesitant smile broke out on Gage's face. "I...I think I really like you too. Assuming what I feel is like, but it's not like anything I've felt for a person before, so it must be that I like you." He wrapped his arms around Davir and nodded his head. "Your magic has only helped me out. I don't see how it could ever be a burden, but if that's your reasoning...then I have no other excuses. I guess we are dating."

"Then let's make it official" Davir smiled warmly as his body relaxed along with his smile taking Gage's chin lightly in his hand to kiss him on the lips though if the boy turned his head, then he would let him. Before he would put his lips on Gage's, he stopped removing his hand and just hugging the boy tightly "Maybe it's too early for that" Davir spoke in a bit of a whisper not saying it to Gage, but more of himself.

When Gage felt the hand under his chin, he waited expectantly. He was sure Davir would kiss him, and he would let him. But the kiss didn't come and instead, Davir hugged him. Gage accepted this and hugged Davir back before pulling away with a puzzled expression. "Too early for what?"

"I just figured after everything that happened, the last thing you'd probably need right now, was...uh...me trying to kiss you" Davir answered honestly. He knew what he had wanted to do, but he didn't want to be hated anymore than he already deserved, and didn't want to freak Gage out at all.

Gage fumbled until he grabbed Davir's hands and held them tightly. "You don't want to kiss me?" he asked hesitantly. Even though he was so new to relationships, he wanted to be liked. He felt his heart speed up at the thought of a kiss and then speed up more at the thought that it wouldn't come. "Because...I wouldn't mind if you did kiss me. I wouldn't mind."

Davir held Gage until his hands were taken in Gage's and heard what he had to say. Pulling one hand away as he snaked it around Gage's lower back he pulled Gage close to him kissing him on the lips as his magic danced around him out of not being controlled since he let go of his senses. His other hand was still in Gage's hand until the the door to the room opened bringing light into the room which made Davir pulled back a bit quickly. Trying to look casual though it was hard to.

Gage tightened his grip on Davir's hand and hesitantly kissed him back. He wasn't sure how to kiss but he just went with the flow. The feeling and the smell of magic around him overwhelmed his senses. Because of that, he didn't hear when the door opened. He only noticed Davir pull away. A look of confusion passed over Gage's face and he closed his eyes to try to get a handle on himself. He needed to calm his heart so he could hear. "Did something happen?" He asked.

Gage's mom stood in the doorway. It took her a few seconds to speak. "I came to ask if you two wanted something to eat. And Gage, I want to talk to you later." Her voice sounded strange. Gage wondered if she saw the kiss. He had no way to know.

"Of course..." Gage muttered. He waited for the sound of the door closing again to sigh. "Did she see?"

Davir whispered back to Gage after she left "I think so" then he started chuckling which turned into laughter. "Haha I feel like a child who got caught stealing cookies from the cookie jar" he couldn't help but still laugh looking over at Gage quickly kissing him one last time on the lips, hell if he was going to get in trouble, he might as well cause as much trouble as he could. Pulling away he said "Plus we were in the dark when he kissed so...yea...imagine how that would look to a mother seeing her son" he glanced to the side with a full devious like smirk on his face.

Gage's expression was somewhere between a pout and a frown. Even when Davir kissed him again, he didn't lose that expression. "Don't sound so happy about it," he complained and fumbled until he found his bed and sat down with a thud. He didn't mind kissing Davir, but his mom knowing...that was another matter already. "My parents think of me as a kid, you know. Well, it's not like I'm much more than a child anyway. But something like this would be a shock." He bit a nail, thinking. He didn't want his mom to confront him.

Davir didn't think magic could solver anything, but he wondered if he should use something right now. Then again the last time he used magic was when he made them both forget and look how that turned out. "Alright, well what should we do" he sat next to Gage, but still a couple inches away. he kept trying to think of things that they could do to explain this, but it was pretty much self explanatory by the sight of it. "Should I go home or stay?" he then wondered if magic could twist the view of what she saw, he could do that, he did that before in school alot to get out of trouble and things.

Even if they weren't sitting close enough to touch, Gage still felt the other boy's presence. He was both comforted and more distressed by it. He wanted so much to have a relationship with Davir, but it had barely been five minutes and he was already having doubts. "Maybe you should go," he said finally. No, that wasn't what he wanted to say, but his throat closed up when he tried to take it back. He wanted Davir to stay. He wanted him to make everything alright because he was so good at that. Gage didn't lift his head though and wouldn't let Davir see his expression. He did nothing but wait for Davir to leave.

Davir wasn't a mind reader so he couldn't tell even by emotions or actions if that was really what Gage wanted. Though he did probably need to get home before he was scolded, however his body didn't want him to leave. Sighing he knew he probably overstayed his welcome and maybe they would see each other the next day or night. Gage had apparently grown on Davir meaning Davir got used to staying up at night as well. "If that's what you wish" Davir didn't walk out of the door this time he focused his magic as a fog like cloud appeared making Davir disappear *poof* he was gone in an instant from the room and back to his own room. Sighing as he laid down he wondered what he could do, he knew there wasn't really anything he could do, and man did it iritate him to no end. Looking over at the notepad he remembered giving Gage one too, he picked it up writing on it...

Goodnight, Gage. Sleep well.

Davir put it down as he pulled out a medicine bottle taking out two small tablets taking them. This was melatonin which was like a sleep aid, but it was meant to relax the mind as he would soon fall asleep though it might take him a couple minutes.

Only the distinct smell of magic warned Gage that Davir had left. He had been listening for the sound of a door, his body tense in anticipation of that sound. He slowly relaxed when that sound didn't come. He preferred the spice of magic in the air and he sat for a minute just trying to breathe. He missed Davir's presence, but he felt more relaxed now. When he finally got up from his bed, he noticed the note and smiled as he heard it. He didn't write anything back though. What was the to say? Maybe if he could write a smile, he might, but he knew he shouldn't. He told Davir to leave, so he couldn't say anything or he would regret his words more than he already did.

Gage took his time going downstairs. He knew his mom wanted to talk. He almost took off out the window, but he decided that would do more long term harm to the relationship. He sat down at the kitchen table to wait for the lecture and questions as he mom tried to figure out what her precious baby had been doing in the dark with another boy.

Davir's parents, or adoptive parents were downstairs discussing it was time to do something about him just going out all the time or lazying about the house. While Davir slept they talked about schools, summer events, something, anything to get him out more than just going to that graveyard to mope. Course they didn't really know about Gage or the fact that Davir was hanging out with him all this time. Then again they didn't don't know anything about the boy and decided it was time to send him on a trip or vacation or something.

Gage dragged his feet back to his room after a long lecture. He could still hear the angry and the...fearful words of his mother. He thought his family might understand, but they had rules that neither he nor Davir could ever change.

"We don't have relationships outside of the two families. Just like everyone like us, you will marry a shape shifter. These are the rules. No exceptions

No one ever told him this rule. Even when Gage tried to say Davir wouldn't expose their magical secret because he was magical himself, his parents wouldn't listen. Even his grandfather who was always on his side did not speak a word in Gage's defense. Why was it so important that shifters breed together? No one would explain anything to him, but he was sure there was a reason.

For the rest of the night, Gage sat on his bed unable to sleep or think of what the right course of action was. He didn't want to follow the rules, but he loved his family. He trusted them and their wisdom. Finally, he found the pad of paper and wrote a message to Davir. "I'm sorry. It's my fault we can't see each other anymore."

Davir heard the notepad he had put a slight vibration alarm on it so he knew when it would send a reply to him and looked up sleepily to it. Reading it, a confused expression crossed his face as he wrote back. "Wait, is it because of the spell? I can say sorry as many times as you want, I knew it was bad to do it in the end, I thought we made up" he sent the message to the boy now half awake confused giving himself a headache, why was Gage saying this, it was starting to worry him alot. Waiting for a reply again he nodded off for a few minutes.

Gage planned to just toss the notebook out after he sent his message, but he as he was about to dump it in the trash, he got a reply. He couldn't ignore that no matter how bad he wanted to. Sitting down again, he wrote back a reply. "It's just impossible. I can't say anything. Really, I'm so sorry." If he explained things, he knew Davir would find a way to convince him to back down. Could Gage afford that though? Once he made a decision, he would stick with it. Done writing out his reply, he turned and tossed the notebook out the window instead of in the trash.

Davir wanted to reply as soon as he heard he got one, but he didn't understand what was going on. He assumed he hurt him alot worse than he was being told or shown and now there was no way to fix that. With this being known he went back to sleep for the rest of the night after posting one more reply but erasing it. In the end it wouldn't really matter if he loved Gage or not, the other boy had chosen not to be with him, and Davir would only blame himself. Davir fell back asleep until morning when he would get up to take a shower, get online, and do a few things. He had spent three hours online and figured it was time to get started.

Morning came without Gage having ever slept. It probably showed on his face, but the most he could know about that was how disgusting the inside of his mouth felt. Dry and gross, like he'd been licking his feet instead of staring out the window with all of his senses shut down with how far in his head he was. He put that behind him though and the heavy feeling that had taken over his whole body as he went downstairs.

"Good morning!" Gage could actually hear the smile in his mother's voice. How could she sound so cheerful after last night? Gage didn't think he could ever feel cheerful again. He made himself toast and then pushed it around the plate. The heavy footsteps entering the room signaled his father.

"Your mom and I had a talk last night. We've decided to accept you as an adult now. You're nineteen. We won't treat you like a child over these matters. With that in mind, we've gotten in touch with the families and some meetings will be arranged. Man, woman, whoever you want among the families. Your pick. Next week the eligibles will be in town. Don't worry over it, son" his father said, clapping a hand on his shoulder. "It all works out in the end."

Davir stretched going downstairs for once to eat with his family which surely surprised them. He had many things to do today and already chosen to get started on his college now, rather than later or never. Sitting quietly Davir ate his eggs and bacon until his sisters came down, when they took their seat he said "I'm going to get started on my college today, before I do that anyone want to go to the mall?" he felt he might see Gage there though there was a part of him now that wished didn't see him. The twins shook their heads sleepily, still obviously not awake, and wondered if their brother was sick or something. "Honey, are you sure you're feeling alright?" Davir's mother spoke making Davir nod "Yes, I'm fine. I just think it's time to stop waiting, I'm taking my laptop to the cafe, and I'll be back later on this evening. I'm not sure I will be home for dinner, so just eat without me"

Davir left the house nodding to his father, giving his sisters and a mother a kiss on the cheek, and leaving them dumbfounded. Now they knew for sure that something was wrong and looked at each other confused. Davir went back to his room finishing getting dressed and putting his coat on, he didn't use his magic, it always made things harder on him, and then he took the long walk to the cafe with his laptop bag at his side. Picking the table in the back corner rather than the one he sat with Gage at before, he ordered a french vanilla latte and got to work, there wouldn't be too many colleges he would care to go to, let alone any that would do for his talents. So he chose to stick to one online where he could do photography in order to travel the world and see things most people wouldn't be able to.

Gage stared out the window with a dark expression. He knew his parents meant well. They were good people and his grandfather whom he'd always loved and respected like anyone else. They would have offered him pictures of the elligables but he would not know who these people were until they came in a were here. In reality, he would never know them like he knew Davir who had given him the gift of sight. If he were a different kid, he might have run away, at least for a few hours. He couldn't work up the effort for that though. No music, no communication. Until the end of the week, he planned to not leave his room. After that, he would have no choice but to walk under the sunshine that meant only false warmth for him. Even now he could hear the plans his parents made. He would meet the first potential partner at the cafe. Not a date, but to go to that cafe with anyone but Davir felt wrong.

Davir started working on what he was supposed to then he stopped, he was distracted by so many thoughts and memories of spending time with Gage. They flowed through his mind as he absently sat there and then he wondered, where did his spirit go? Why was he letting something so wonderful he had slip away from him so easily? That was no where like him and that's where he stood up taking his laptop with him running back home. He had an idea, but first he needed to put a few things into actions. It took him a couple days as he found his blood relative the other day, finally he got up from his bed and changed into a simple t-shirt with jeans as he floated on his magic carpet tapping slightly at the window of Gage's room. He wasn't sure if he was in there, but he waited hoping he would be.

Time passed at a sluggish pace for Gage. Days went by like years. It reminded him of high school, a time of miserable afternoons he thought he would never experience again. Not that he could have told the current time. Spending no time outside his room left him unconnected. If he could help it, he managed to avoid lunch just so he could avoid his family. Everyone so happy and cheerful Maria who had no idea the 'dates' he would go on weren't his idea at all. He wanted to tell her the truth but she was too young perhaps to understand familial duty. When Gage heard the knock, he almost wrote it off as imagination. He opened the window a crack. "Davir? P-please go away!" he exclaimed in as forceful of a tone as he could manage.

Davir sat there "If you don't talk to me, I will make a lot of noise" he teased though he was honest about that, he would make a scene if the other boy didn't talk to him "Come on, take my hand, let's just escape for a bit" he said holding his hand out for the other to take or maybe he would walk away from him, either way he added "I won't leave you alone until we talk even if we are silent about it" he wasn't smiling right now, but he was a bit excited since he hadn't seen Gage in awhile. "I thought you trusted me" he added thoughtfully adding a bit of sadness to his voice by accident..well it wasn't done on purpose.
