"I think that he has taken a liking to one of your men," Yalann said looked back at Jufrey. "His attitude changed a little while after we arrived so I know its not one of ours. I am just worried that he is going to be rejected by one of you men." Slowly she walked back to her seat and sat down. "you see in our kingdom it is accepted for the War prince to take a male lover or even merry a man, as long as there is a way for their seed to be passed on to a child. yet I have not heard of this happening in your kingdom" she blushed and looked down. "not that we hear much about your kingdom, yet I am worried that he is going to be rejected and that would drive him not to be nice to the prince and then this wont work out."
|
Jufrey continued to scratch down information. She was almost finished with her half. "It depends on who you are really. It's not advisable for the royal family because they need to have kids. And tradition isn't quite fond of bastard kids. However I'm sure it would be fine for one of his men, however it would depend which man because each man has his own beliefs." Jufrey was on to writing about the last poison she would talk about. "Your brother's a bit of a sour puss if he's going to get angry at a prince because a man happens to not return hiss feelings. Its those kinds of men you have to look out for in my opinion. They can be scary."
|
"From what I can get from my brothers mind I think he is more upset at Fitz because he would not accept help when it was clear that he needed it, not that he is rejecting him." Yalann smiled sweetly. "and as for Bastard kids, there is a spell that makes it so the child is born of both the male partners and no other person. it is just carried to term in a female." she remembered the first time she had heard of the spell from her mother before she had died.
Her uncle had been much like her brother in the love of men and at fist her grandfather had feared that the family line would not continue. they were a small noble family with no one else to carry on the line. the thought that they would merry into the royal family had not even crossed her grandfathers mind. Her uncle had found a man that loved him just as deeply and was open to having a child with a woman so that the family could have a son but grandfather would not agree to it. then when Yalann's mother married the prince he had told her of an old spell that could make it so that two men could have a child together and have it only their kid. "according to my father it was created after a document was found talking about a" here she stalled trying to think of the right words. "Gene modification technology. when the mages saw the paper they worked out how it could be done by a spell." |
"That's interesting." Jufrey decided after hearing the story, she had her views though and while it was really interesting magic wise she wasn't sure if she'd like to see it in action or not. "This royal family probably won't be needing it any time soon though." The madame sighed with relief as she finished her writing. She closed the book and gave it and the pen back to the princess. It included several medium level poisons. She tried to keep the more dangerous ones to herself, just for security. Sometimes the poisons weren't intended for a good people and you wouldn't want those being able to be treated.
|
Smiling Yalann took back the book and stood up. "thank you, I really should not keep you and it will be dinner time soon. do you think he will be up to having dinner or should I just send to the kitchens for dinner to be delivered to my room?" turning she walked out of the room and into her own. slowly she opened her chest and started to unpack her dresses. Her maid had already unpacked her other chests but this one she was told to leave alone. Lifting out the last dress she opened the false bottom and looked over the array of bottles and boxs. each one was where she had left it. sighing she slipped the book in with the other small books she had made of dangerous things. this was her true medical bag but she kept it secret so that no one would ever have access to the poisons she carried to treat people.
|
Jufrey nodded her 'your welcome'. "He'll probably down for the count till some time tomorrow. He still might feel a bit weak tomorrow as well. I'll send someone for you don't worry." Jufrey watched the princess leave, mulling over what they discussed. She looked at Fitz, who hadn't moved since he last rolled over, and then got up and took his temperature, got a wet towel for his forward and loosened his clothes a little so he could breathe properly. She then asked a servant to tell the kitchens to prepare food to be brought to the visiting royalty and then sat back down next to Fitz and read through Yalann's little book of poisons again.
|
Many of the poisons were the strong ones not mild. Yalann had been very careful listing all of ways it could be administrated, if it had an application to help people she had listed what it was and how much it was. where you might find it in the wild and if there was a natural way of dealing with it. all the symptoms were listed and every way that it could be different. she had wanted anyone who had the book to be able to know and treat the poison as quickly as they could.
((can we time jump? next day?)) |
((Sure.))
Fitz' muscles ached all over, and he felt incredibly weak, barely even able to twitch his fingers. He also noticed that his throat burned as if he hadn't drunk water for days. He swallowed furtively, only making his throat hurt more and attempted to open his eyes and figure out exactly what had happened to him. The last he remembered was he and Faelann had been talking about something. What had they been talking about? Fitz' head hurt too much to think and he cracked his eyes open, daylight blinding him for a minute before he registered a roof which he wasn't familiar, but he was sure he had seen before. He groaned. And then suddenly a face appeared right in front of his eyes and scared the daylights out of him. "Good to see you're awake my lord." A rusty feminine voice welcomed him. "Especially good to see your on the side of the living. I bet your parched. I have a glass of water here. Can you sit up?" Fitz tried obeying but all his strength had yet to return to him, so he and the woman struggled to get up him just a little more upright, leaning against the bed head where she helped him drink some water. Water has never tasted so good to Fitz and it felt amazing on his throat. He tried to thank her but couldn't speak but she seemed to know what he wanted to say. "It's alright, you should be feeling your usual self in a few hours." She comforted him and he continued drinking the water. |
Leaning back into the bench Faelann looked up into the light coming through the leaves. his heart seemed to be trying to force its way out of his body as he lay there. it was just his worry about his sisters soon to be husband he told himself. he was not infatuated with this weak prince that would never be as good as him. sighing he sat up and looked around the garden. no matter how much he tried to tell himself he was not feeling attarted to the price he was. there was no better explanation then he had fallen for him but it made no scene.
he looked up at the window he knew was his.... the princes window. his sister had told him which one was his. maybe it had not be a wise thing to have asked her but he had to know. picking a few of the flowers nearby he twisted them into a tiny crown. Yalann looked over at her brother from the tree branches nearby. the feel of the bark under her fingers brought old memory's to the surface. they had been only twelve at the time. it was her brothers first crush. they had sat under his crushes window just like now. he had waited there till she had come to the window then his dash to the bushes had left Yalann in the clear. days later his crush had started making doe eyes at Yalann. it had taken her three weeks to lose the woman's attentions. "brother dear its going to be a hard move if your wanting to merry him." her voice carried softly on the breeze. "they don't accept a bond like we do." Reaching down she took the flower crown that he held up to her. |
After a few more cups of refreshing water Prince Fitz had managed to get his ability to speak back again, but could only use words sparingly due to the roughness of his throat. Jufrey had explained his situation to him and she watched has his expressions changed as he absorbed the information and made connections. He settled for one of silent horror and looked at Jufrey full of questions.
"But why would he want me to..." He swallowed. "That's what I was thinking about all night." Jufrey admitted as she perched on the end of his bed. She would have been biting her nails if she hadn't quit that habit years ago. "I think it was because he wanted Mavorie to get the blame. You know some people aren't that welcoming of piece. If you weren't the crown prince I doubt this would have gone ahead, and it looks like he's making sure that it doesn't as much he can." "But why would he still want war?" The prince asked desperately. "After all the pain its caused why would he want it?" "You know I don't know how his mind works my lord." Jufrey snapped and Prince Fitz mumbled an apology. She took a minute to recompose herself. "I think if he still had the calm ideals of his wife he probably wouldn't be as bad." Jufrey admitted and the Prince sighed. "It's not your fault madame. You did everything you could." There was silence. "Do you think he's got anything else planned?" "I told you, I don't know how his mind works. But we're going to have to be more aware of everything. We might also have to tell your guests as well my lord. I'm sure they'd be happy to keep an eye out as well." Prince Fitz bit his nails and Jufrey had a hard time not just pulling his hands away from his mouth. It looks like she didn't stop her habit it time before he caught it. "Are you ready to talk to them yet? Or would you like to rest a bit more prince?" "No, I should talk to them as soon as possible. Mind sending a servant for me?" Jufrey nodded and stood up and found a servant to send to fetch the royal siblings from Ellestine. |
Faelenn stood his eyes squinting as he felt something, he did not know what it was but he felt it. His whole body was tense his hand already reaching for the sword he had not put on that day. something had him feeling like there was going to be war soon but he could not tell what. "he is up." was all he said before he took off trying to find his way back to the rooms near his that were the princes.
At first he thought he had made the right turn then he found he was in a part of the castle he had never seen before. he needed to study this place better, if this was what was going to happen each time he had to go somewhere quickly. turning back around he tried to go back the way he had came only to find himself lost even deeper into the place. Watching her brother run off Yalann sighed and slowly got up and walked around the palace. she knew if they were needed a servant would come for them. |
The servant scurried off to find the visiting prince and princess. He found the princess and briskly walked up to her, hoping that wasn't disturbing her.
"My lady, Prince Fitz would like to see you. He has some things he would like to discuss" He gave her a bow out of respect, and when he stood proper again he looked around to see if he could find her brother. "Would your brother happen to be nearby? He wishes to speak to him also." |
"My brother seemed to think there was something that he needed to do and he dashed off a little while ago. I do not know where he has gone but I can call him if you think he needs to be here." walking the way that the servant had come from she smiled. "I think he may have gotten lost in the palace, if I could find out where he would would it help you find him better?"
<brother dear we are summoned by the prince. I know that you have again gotten yourself lost. might you tell me what the area around you looks?> she fallowed the servant. <yes you sill girl I am lost. I got the wrong turn near a set of stairs and now I think I am in a servants area.> looking up he saw a servant moving around nearby. <I see a servant I will ask for them to lead me to you.> walking forward he touched the young woman on the arm. jumping she turned and looked at him, then she bowed. "I need to be taken back to my rooms I seem to have lost my way." she smiled and then lead him away from servants wing. she did not talk the whole way to the hall where they met up with the other servant and his sister."let us see what the prince has to say." with that they walked to the door of the princes room. |
Madame Jufrey greeted the prince and princess with a stern face, however Fitz tried to greet them with as much of a smile as he could muster. Maybe he should have had a similar expression to the nurse however he figured she was doing enough frowning for both of them.
"Good morning. I hope you slept well." Fitz coughed slightly at the end, but still kept his smile. "I have something I need to tell you two. You might want to sit down." Fitz nodded to a couch close to where Madame Jufrey was standing. It was a grey blue colour with an elegant, royal blue floral pattern. The gray blue matched the colour of his sheets, though thankfully they were lacking the decor and opted instead for simply rows of silver thread as well as extravagant silver ropes at the seams. |
Faelann wanted to run over to his prince but what his sister had said made him hold back. he did not want to drive the prince away from him but he wanted to know that he was ok. "my lord prince." he bowed slightly as he stepped into the room. his sisters hand finding his and squeezing it before letting him go again. "I did sleep well my lord." "it is near the afternoon Fitz." Yalann smiled as she spoke, knowing that Madame Jufrey was going to give her a nasty look for speaking to him that way. she lead her brother over to the seat knowing that he was going to want to sit closer if he was not lead to where he needed to be. "What is it that my prince wanted to say to us?" |
Fitz eyes widened in surprise and he looked over to Madame Jufrey who nodded. "Oh well, good after noon then." He said, he felt his cheeks start to warm up in embarrassment. "I'm glad you slept well now." He started chewing on his nails. "I hope what I'm about to say doesn't create any hard feelings between us." He swallowed and took a deep breath. "As you both know, yesterday I was poisoned. There's only one person who can get a hold of that poison... And let me tell you that his action are his actions alone but." Fitz' shoulders were sagging. "The attempt on my life was to try and make it look like you two poisoned me and so it would spark up another war, and the only person who could poison me was someone in my own family." Fitz huffed out, stopping his mouth's attack on his fingers and instead using them to massage his throat.
|
As they sat there carefully listening to what the prince had to say they both got a feeling of dread. If his royal family was trying to kill him off to start the war back up there was not going to be anything to stop them from doing that. Faelann sighed trying to think of how he would feel if his family had tired to kill him just to keep a war going that already was going to long. <I thought our generals were mad wanting to keep this war going, but for one of the royel family to want to kill their own to make it go. Are they just power hungry?>
<they may be Land hungry brother of mine.> she tried to calm him from the anger she could feel growing. <remember that if not for the gold mines to the west we would be looking at famine among most of our people. maybe they see our people fighting well because of the grain we have brought in form the other kingdoms and think we have better farm land.> she looked over at prince Fitz lovingly. "Why would it create hard feeling between us and you my lord?" Faelann beat his sister to speaking up as the prince pulled his fingers from his mouth. it was kind of cute that he would nibble his fingers when he was worried, Faelann would have to remember that. "My only thought my lord is that it might be better for us to start on your training when you are well. that is if you still wish to try to keep these marriage talks going?" "What my brother means to say it that it is time we start working together to protect what is to be the future. if that means that you and I learn to defend our selfs from assassins, which I fear we may have to, then so be it. I know that some of the poisons of my country can have an immunity built up. if you wish I could help you with that to..." she turned to Madame Jufrey. "that is if Madame Jufrey approves of it." |
"I just don't know either of you well enough yet to know how you would react..." Fitz made a point of looking at Faelann. He still wasn't sure what to think of the foreign prince, however it was definitely not in the low negatives as it was before, hopefully it would keep rising. "I just wanted to put it out there before you thought that I was also one of those awful felons who wish for this dreadful war to start up again." His tone was sincere and his eyes glistened with his strong determination to end the war in his time. They were so close and no rotten family of his was going to stop him from reaching is goal.
"I will consider the training when I am in a better state," Madame Jufrey nodded her agreement with this, "but I feel like your training would be wasted on me. I'm not exactly built for fighting." Fitz smiled awkwardly. He had a few guards try and teach him, but they couldn't quite make a man of him. Fitz did learn through the training that his skills were situated in the art of playing hide and seek. After not being able to found for a large portion of his training periods, the king decided that it was all for naught and instead spent more time prepping Fitz's younger brother in the art of warring. |
"I think Fitz that it can be safely assumed that everyone in this room would like to see an end to this war that is killing off our people and destroying our lands." she looked to Madame Jufrey for confirmation from her that it was her want as well. "Some of us would like to know what the true cause of it was and some of us for outh's of our own wish to see the killing stopped." her brother nodded as he stood.
"I know that there are many in both our kingdom's that would wish to see this fall thorough. In fact I have heard one of our wealthiest men seek to preswade others to bring down me and my brother before we could leave for here so that our land would stay at war." she said passion. "I will bow to Madame Jufrey and my sisters wisdom in the healing arts as to when you will be ready to fight." faelann said taking a slow step towards the prices. "If you can not learn the common fighting arts, then I will find you a teacher that will teach you to fight as dirty to save yourself and others. When you are a prince, to be king then it dose not matter that you can not fight like other men. only that you may fight and live." slowly he knelt on one knee before Fitz' bed. "What you should know of the fighting arts that all nobles think their family should know is how to command the man that fight that way. I could also teach you how to command armies if you do not yet know it and wish to lean." |
"Well then, I'm glad we all agree to that then." The Prince smiled. "This marriage definitely would not go well otherwise. We can at least fend off the outsiders." All of Faelann's talk about fighting made Fitz's head spin. Why did everyone need to fight so much. What an awful world to live in, why don't people realise how silly they're being? Fitz was glad most of this was turned toward his brother. If only his brother realised he was also one of the silly people though.
"That's what my brother is for. Everyone is more likely to listen to him anyway so I don't need to learn how to control anyone. Honestly it's alright. You guys are so deathly serious sometimes its scarier than the actual problem." Fitz laughed nervously, which started into a cough. |
"I do think that my family would have sent us if they did not think that we would not try in some why to make it work." Yalann lifted the ring of flowers that she had carried here and placed them on her head. even if there never was a marriage she could still wear a may crown. If he really thought that they were so serious then he needed to see the more childish side.
"do you like the crown my brother made me? if you want one I think we could talk him into making you one too." she smiled and did a slow spin so he could see her from every angel. "you have only knew me for one day, I am not the serious of the two of us." Faelann stated to blush as his sister showed off his simple flower crown. it was not princely to be making flower crowns let alone having ones sister tell another man he could make him one too. "sometimes you cant trust your family even when you want to." He seemed to direct this comment at his sister more then at the prince, before standing and bowing. "if you will excuse me My lord." he turned and walked out of the room. he was not going to put up with his sisters flirting with Fitz. something within him wanted to push her aside and throw himself at Fitz. yet he knew that was not the way to win him. he did not realize where he was going till he found himself outside of the barrack the held the body guards. slamming open the door he scanned the room till he found the young man he had been looking for. Kinnix only had a few moments to realize that his prince was in the room before Faelann had him pinned to the side of the bunk and was kissing him, deeply. |
Fitz's coughing died down as he watched her spin. He hope the slight blush that was tainting his cheeks could be passed off as a fever or some form of sickness, and from the added crease in madame Jufrey's furrowed brow it seemed it did.
"I guess I'll have plenty of time to get to know you better. Perhaps we should try again for dinner tonight. Hopefully this time none of us gets poisoned!" "You better not get poisoned again, I can't save you all the time my lord." Jufrey butted in and Fitz sent her a cheeky grin. When Faelann exited with Fitz's nod, he turned his attention back to Yalann. "Perhaps you pushed him too much?" Fitz started biting his finger nails again. That was a game changer for Faelann, Fitz didn't even thing the guy had the capability to be any thing else but scary and serious. He wasn't sure how he felt about this flower making side of him. |
Smiling after her brothers retreating form Yalann turned back to Fitz. "I would love for us to try for dinner again. I must say that your cook is quite good even if I got a cold dinner." before he could react to her cold dinner she spoke quickly."it is not your cook that made it cold, I happened to be taking a bath when they brought the tray in and I did not want to get out of my lovely soak. so it became cold while I enjoyed the warm water." thinking about what he had said and her brothers reaction she sighed then turned to madam Jufrey.
"would you mind if I were able to spend time with him alone? or do you worry that I to will try to poison my intended." she wanted to talk to Fitz without her around. she knew that she was going to have to be careful about her brother and him and what was going to happen. she was ready to merry him and let her brother also sleep with him if that was what it came down to, but she knew her brother well enough that he would not want that arrangement. His guard gasped as Faelann pulled back from the kiss. reaching out he ran his finger down the young guards jaw. "my lord, I thought we were..." he was silenced by another deep kiss as the prince wrapped his arms around him. Faelann knew that he came to the guard in frustration and fear. he was looking for comfort from some one that would not remind him that the one his heart beat for was promised to his sister. releasing the young guard he looked down at the bed and then back to the others in the room. "I think I wish to have some privet practice with you James." before James, the young guard could say anything Faelann turned and walked back away from him down the rows of bunks. it took only a few seconds before James fallowed him. as the door to the barracks closed behind them Faelann pulled him into the bushes and pinned him to the ground. their mouths locked and their hearts racing. |
"Well I'm glad it tasted decent considering." Fitz was almost ready to get Madame Jufrey to go down and see why the kitchen couldn't seem to get food to its guess while it was hot, but it looks like he wouldn't have to send the raging bull down to the china shop.
At Yalann's request, madame Jufrey seemed to about to state her opinion but Fitz interrupted her before she could say anything too offensive. "She'll be fine leaving." Jufrey sent him a surprised look that was bordering angry. "After all we all just decided we were actually hoping to unite our kingdoms so really there's a low chance of me being posioned again by this loved princess here madame." That earned Fitz a stern look. "If it makes you feel better I'll call for you straight after." Jufrey bit her cheek at Fitz's offer. After a second of deliberation, she left. She left with a frown aimed at princess Yalann, but left none the less. Fitz waited a few moments for Jufrey to disappear before he looked at princess Yalann expectantly. "So, my dear princess. What would you like to speak to me about?" |
"first off I would like you to know that Madam Jufrey has revived from me the first installment of poisons from my kingdom. they are all the most poisonous ones that we know so you will not have to worry if I were to poison you." trying to think of a way to tell him what she really wanted to tell him without him flipping out was becoming harder and harder as the time went on.
"I think it would be best if you knew, my brother and some of our men enjoy the company of men and not woman. they will not take any one to bed that is not willing but I was told by Jufrey that it is not looked highly upon by your people. I just thought that conflict might occur from it and better forewarned then sideswiped." she said this all rather quickly trying to get it out before he could react negatively. |
