Caleb managed to get the silvery gryphon into a cage without much problem, and made sure the lock engaged properly. He didn't want to chance the beast escaping once the feather root wore off.

"Great." Jeremy grinned. "Wow. Holy shit, man." He shook his head.

"We just got so damn lucky," Caleb said, grinning widely. "Gods, just look at them both."

"They're in perfect condition," Jeremy agreed, looking at the gold one. "Just think of the potions we can make now."

"We'll be able to charge triple for them," Caleb agreed, nodding. "Just imagine."

Jeremy grinned and moved out of the shed again, locking everything up tightly.

"Alright, what do we need to get? We might as well start prepping things now, so we're ready."

"We need to check the potency of the feathers," Caleb said. "That's first. After that, we can decide what to make with them."

"And to do that, we need to wait for the feather root to wear off," Jeremy said. "Otherwise it'll mess everything up. So in twelve hours or so it'll be entirely gone." He briefly made a face at that.

"Hey, we used what we had to," Caleb said. "Any less, and we wouldn't have gotten them as easy."

"Any less and I doubt we would have gotten them at all," Jeremy pointed out. "The silvery one almost didn't go down." He shook his head a bit.

"Yeah, it did take a lot to put that one under," Caleb agreed. He nudged his friend. "Come on, let's go get a drink. We deserve it."

Jeremy nodded and motioned for Caleb to lead the way.

About eight hours later, Callie started to wake up again, shaking herself slowly and looking around, still dizzy. Everything smelled odd and kind of muted, and it was hard to focus.

Corinne stirred a little while after, muddled and disoriented. She chrrrup-ed quietly as she tried to force herself to focus, but it didn't work quite yet.

Callie had managed to find the confines of her cage but she still wasn't awake enough to do anything about it, instead laying in the middle. She looked up at Corinne's noise and chirped reassuringly at her.

Corinne chirped back softly. She hadn't tried to explore her cage, yet; she was still too groggy from the feather root. Instead, she curled up and draped a wing over herself, just trying to stay still until the dizziness passed.

Callie recovered first and managed to get to her feet, looking around with rising panic. They were not at home, and the things on the walls led her to only one conclusion: mages. She made a quiet noise not unlike a hurt bird and backed up to the back of her cage, trying not to panic.

Corinne was right behind her. Her eyes widened and she made panicked little sounds as her feathers fluffed up and she crouched down low, backing up until she had the wall behind her.

When no one immediately came, Callie started testing the cage, at first just poking and prodding. But it didn't take her long to switch to hurling herself at the bars to see how long it would take to break them. She was hoping for sooner rather than later, but even she could feel the tingle of magical reinforcement around the cage.

Corinne, rather than hurling herself at the bars, had tried to scratch at the latch on the door. Her claws didn't even leave a mark, and she felt a slight jolt of reinforcing magic all the way to her elbows. Still, she tried to work on the bars themselves, trying to bend them enough to get out. That also failed.

Callie growled and tried digging under the cage, through it, tried squeezing through the bars, everything she could think of. But nothing worked, and she was left panting and exhausted, her beak open as she tried to get enough air and several silvery feathers littering the floor around her.

Corinne was already crouched in the back corner of her cage again, wings in tight and tail wrapped around her. There were some of her own golden feathers scattered about, but she didn't care.

Jeremy came in with two trays, breakfast for them both. And then he paused, looking at them. Hmm. Potential problem. They looked about ready to knock him out of the way as soon as he opened the door to put the food in. And he didn't want to knock them out again.

Callie hissed at him, scooting back into the back of her cage and pulling her wings in tight.

Corinne hissed as well, claws ready even as she stayed crouched down. She'd tear him apart if he so much as came near her.

Jeremy set the trays down on a bench and pondered for a few moments before he went to go grab Caleb.

"So, we have a little problem we didn't think of before."

"What is it?" Caleb asked. That sounded a bit ominous.
