Caleb "Bear" Jackson
http://38.media.tumblr.com/546e6aebf...3w3vo1_500.jpg
Age: 17
Personality:
Quiet and reserved, Bear is something of a push-over. While he does have his own opinions, he doesn't usually fight for them. Because of this, he avoids any sort of conflict or arguments. Drawing, photography, and hiking are hobbies of his. Bear loves bad jokes, spicy foods, and atmospheric music. He dislikes tension, scary movies, and loud noises.
Bio:
Bear was born the fifth of eight children in a conservative family. They lived on a ranch and were all home schooled, due to public schools being human/non-human integrated. While Bear grew up in a very prejudiced neighborhood, a tiny part of him new that it was wrong. Because his community was so closely knit, these thoughts scared Bear and he did his best to suppress them. You either fitted in, or you were a black sheep.
All of his siblings went to summer camps that corresponded with their interests, and so Bear went by himself to one focusing on outdoors activities. He's been going for some years now and has managed to keep it a secret from his parents that the camp is integrated.

Alec Richardson

http://data2.whicdn.com/images/135734737/large.jpg

Race: Vampire

Personality: Alec is quite the loud mouth. He is stubborn and doesn't take shit from anyone. If he doesn't like someone, he will let them know by telling them to their faces and not feeling the least bit remorse for his actions.

History:
Alec was born a very sick child. He was the only child who wasn't able to drink blood normally. Not to mention He also refused to drink blood thinking he didn't need to. But that made him even sicker. He soon couldn't take it anymore to the point he would drink anyone that would come by whenever he had the chance as well as realizing that he was able to drink male human blood better than female human blood. He eventually learned to control his blood lust.

((OOC: I'll just go ahead and make the first post, if that's okay!))

This was bullshit. This was bullshit. Absolute crap. Bear had been trekking through this ridiculous, hot, humid, and bug-infested shamble of a forest for nearly four hours now. It wasn't until the third hour that he'd realized the map he had was from last year, and it was only a half hour ago that he realized that he had no idea of how he'd get back. Of course there was no cell phone reception. And his magic type was combative, not communicative. He was probably going to die out here. The camp counselors were going to find his sweaty gross body heaped over some mossy stump.

But the thing was no one would be surprised. It'd be a "oh well that's something that happened," kind of thing. At his funeral the kids at camp would say, "Maybe if he wasn't such a dick he'd have had people with him on the treasure hunt. Bear wanted to go by himself, he insisted on it, so we can't really feel that sorry for him."

"Way to go, buddy," he muttered, stepping over a fallen log. It caught the heel of his boot and Bear stumbled forward. "Way to freaking go!" he shouted, crumpling the map as he caught himself. That helped a little, shouting did. At least now Bear could take a few breathes and calm down.

What he really needed to do was find some water. If he didn't get back in an hour or two, the other campers would come searching for him. Some of the kids had really neat abilities and would be able to find Bear soon. Hopefully. So all he needed was a way to find water, maybe a place to lay low just in case some animals came by. He stood still and listened to the noises blanketing him until he could pinpoint something like the sound of rushing water. Then he began hiking in its general direction.

MoodyBats 09-28-2014 03:49 PM

[OOC: That is perfectly fine. Also I am so sorry mine turned out a lot bigger than I thought. [gonk]]

Turning the map in all sorts of angles, trying to read the map Alec groaned in aggravation.

I know this map isn't the same as last years. I just know they changed it.

Alec thought to himself as he wondered the path of the forest. When he finally stopped walking while looking at the map, he noticed he was even further away from the camp than before.

Oh great. He thought to himself. He could feel that his blood sugar was dropping. He needed to eat. Or drink. He rolled his tongue over his pearly white fangs sighing. He set his backpack down, sitting down onto a rock taking a break to regain his strength as well as try to figure out what to do from here on out.

Alec was a creature of the night. A vampire. He could only walk in the sun because of a tattoo he had on his chest where his heart was. Everyone in his family had one. It was the family's crest to show he was part of their family and was able to blend in with the other humans and creatures of the light.

Alec had decided to go alone through the forest. He could have let someone come with him, he did get quite a few volunteers. But his blood lust would have driven him to insanity. Not to mention since he became better, he wanted to prove not just to the world but to himself he can manage on his own without any help.

He knew if he let anyone come with him, he would probably end up mauling the person who came with him. Especially if it was a guy. That was the only kind of human blood he liked. Women human blood was too..tart for him.

Alec may not feel remorse for telling how he feels towards someone. But one thing he did feel remorse for was for accidentally nearly killing someone just because he was a blood lusted creature.

Not to mention if that happened, his parents would never let him go to camp. Ever again. Or even outside. Alec shook his head.

"That won't happen." He reassured himself.

If the situation changed from now to an even worse state, Alec decided he would have to force himself to feed off of animal blood in order to survive. He didn't really like the taste of animal blood however. With vampires, it was like being vegetarian. Except it tasted a lot less..delicious compared to human blood. The taste of animal blood to Alec tasted water downed.

Alec let out a deeps sigh.

I will only do that as a last resort.

Picking up his backpack after resting for some time, he looked at the map once more and began to walk again. Determined that he could do this all on his own.

Alec wasn't even paying attention that some else had been out here trying to figure their way out of this forest like he was. At least not until Alec rammed himself into the guy. Alec had been so focused on the map he didn't even see him. Alec had been in the opposite direction the guy was walking towards.

"I am so sorry about that. I wasn't paying any attention." He said with a smile, his fangs revealing themselves to Bear.

((OOC: Haha you're fine! I'm so hyped for this! Oh, and what's your opinion on profanity? When RPing teens I kind of swear left and right, but if that's offensive I'll stop.))

With an "Oomph!" Bear stumbled backwards. He had been trying to straighten out the map before whatever-it-was had bulldozed into him. A few papers and his sketchbook fell to the ground and on instinct Bear reached down to get them, ignoring the apology. It was when looking up that he finally took a good look at the voice's owner.

Shit.

Confronted with flashed fangs, he immediately considered running. But. But he did know this guy. Vampire. This guy was a vampire, wasn't he? Or maybe an incubus? Okay, definitely not human. Bear only knew that this guy was another camper (Alven? Alex?) who was at least semi-popular among the supernatural and natural equally. Which was a good sign, Bear thought. It meant that he hadn't done anything at camp.

Not yet, at least.

Shit, Bear had been staring this entire time, hadn't he? "'S'cool, man," he managed while standing and brushing past the other. He sat down on a mossy tree stump and stuffed the map into his flannel pocket. His pocket knife was also in there, so that was comforting. The thought of asking for directions flitted through his mind, but was batted aside.

It would not be a good idea to tip off a monster that Bear was all by himself.

MoodyBats 09-29-2014 01:57 AM

Alec noticed the guy staring at him for quite a while. But he didn't say anything. It was normal. Mostly since vampires did have that charm on non-magical creatures. At least most non-human magical creatures were usually charmed by their beauty of their appearances.

"Seems they changed the map from last year."

Alec said with a chuckle trying to make the silence between them less awkward.

"Hey want to team up to try to get out of here? I am a bit lost."

Alec said rubbing the back of his head sheepishly.

Alec had heard things about the guy. However, Alec couldn't recall his name. But he knew most of the other campers, including his friends he was paired up with for cabin roommates hated the guy. They said he was a jerk. Or in their words, a complete dick.

Wonder why he hasn't lashed out at me. At least not yet.

Alec thought to himself silently.

"My name is Alec by the way. You are another member at the camp right? what's your name?" Alec asked curiously.

Even though Bear was the perfect victim for Alec to feed on, Alec for some reason didn't feel like he wanted to suddenly. He felt it would be a bad idea with this guy to try anything like that.

Dongle 09-29-2014 05:19 AM

Bear gave him one long, deadpan look. Was Alec really lost? He almost doubted it, but part of him wanted to trust the guy. Vampire. This guy was a vampire. Dangerous. Enchanting helpless victims, bearing fangs, murdering people, all of that. And whatever his dad kept adding to the list of abhorrent behaviors.

"I don't," Bear began, caught between something douchey and something offensive, "do teams." Waving two fingers in a way to gesture at the other's whole, he added, "'Specially with non-humans." Great. Bear couldn't decide so he went with something equally anti-social and prejudiced. A new record.

It was tempting to just admit he was lost. The help was needed, and while he hated admitting it, help that was as cute as Alec wa- ah no, no that wasn't. That wasn't a road Bear was going to travel. Vampires. Dangerous. Right.

"I'm actually probably going to stay out a night, Alec. Be rugged. Maybe grow out my mustache." He wiped the lower half of his hairless face. "You should just go." There it was, all the charm and none of the awkwardness.

MoodyBats 09-29-2014 04:44 PM

Of course. Alec thought.

He just had to be one of these prejudiced types.

Alec just glared at Bear, folding his arms over his chest his cheerful smile and attitude now completely gone.

"So you are just going to judge me because of what I was born as? You humans really are stupid. Especially when you need help and deny help just because of what people are."

Alec was pretty lost himself. Even if Bear didn't believe him. Of course, he wouldn't. He probably thinks he was a monster trying to lure out victims to attack. But that wasn't Alec. It may be Alec's brothers to do that, but it wasn't him. Alec just wanted to see the world. Do things he never got to do fro all the years he was caged inside of his home from when he was ill.

Alec said as he rolled his eyes. "You humans disgust me. Not for your race but how stupid you are. You say we are the monsters when in fact you did this all on your own."

Alec knew the things humans did. As well as how non-humans were treated because of what they were. That was another reason for why Alec was locked up inside of his home for so many years. His parents didn't want him to get hurt or to se the world how it was.

"Good luck surviving out here. There are a lot worse creatures than vampires out here. If you come face to face with a werewolf, it won't leave any trace left for anyone to find you. Not like anyone would care though. People will just think you just went missing. As for an incubus, you'd probably be its prisoner until the day you die. And that's only if you are lucky enough to get that."

Alec couldn't care less if he was being heartless towards Bear or not. He wanted to scare the living hell out of him. Make him think there were worse creatures than vampires out there. Which were true. Alec thought the guy deserved it. Or he deserved to be taught a serious lesson. Alec believed he could find his way out of this forest one way or the other. He knew how to survive on his own.

I can't believe I actually wanted to help that guy. The others were right about him.

Dongle 09-30-2014 12:30 AM

Vampires are born vampires? This whole time Bear thought- okay he had no idea how they came into existence. He's heard some silly things like they sell their souls to Satan, but never that they were born as they were. He shoved both hands into his pockets and looked down at his boots. Well shit. He remembered all the shit he had gotten after coming out to the family. Bullying and shitty remarks. Hiding from other people and basically shutting the fuck down because hometown was "God-fearing" and "pure." Shit.

Bear risked a glance at Alec through the guilt and humiliation. "I," he began weakly, not knowing where to start, "I, uh- that pretty much sums it up. People suck."

Alec deserved a little more than that, with what he had said. "I'm gay. So, uh, I know- what it's like. What it can be like, anyways." Hands out, Bear began rubbing them in circles. It was something of a tick, and this was the first time he'd told anyone this outside of immediate family. "But yeah, you're right. People suck. And I mean I'm worse because I kind of know how it is, but I still say that stuff. It's mostly 'cause my folks say it, too, you know? Even so," he trailed off.

What was so difficult that he couldn't just say, "I'm sorry"? Something like nausea was rolling over in his gut and balling up by the back of his throat. It wasn't anything like anger, at least not anger at Alec. Part of him was so fucking relieved to be told off for being prejudiced. Part of him was completely agreeing and wanted to break out laughing and signing that finally, that this was being said! But another part was still afraid of home, of family, and of being rejected.

MoodyBats 09-30-2014 12:50 AM

Alec could see he struck a cord with Bear just from his words. And that made Alec feel so much better afterwards. H didn't feel as angry anymore. But that was just Alec. Give him time to rant and let his anger out, and afterwards, he will forgive you as if nothing happened. He was the forgiving type. Though, it depended on what the person did in the first place.

"Just because other humans suck, doesn't mean you have to be one of those who suck the most," Alec said his tone still just as harsh and cold.

Although, Alec actually started to listen to what Bear was saying. Taking a bold move, Alec sat next to him.

"So am I. And it's not easy. People bully you for it. But it is especially hard when you are non-human on top of that." Alec said a sigh passing his pale lips.

He turned to look at Bear, "You may not want to hear this. Especially from the likes of me," Alec trailed off.

"But you shouldn't let your folks drill thoughts into your head. Some of us are monsters yes. But some of us aren't. You just have to be able to see the ones who are truly good from the ones that are truly bad. And I am not one, that only wants to drink blood and kill people. That would be my brothers. I, however just want to live my life. And see the world. I know sounds rare. But I was cooped up inside my home for so many years because I was sick, and that made me want to see the world. I only feed when I need to. But other than that I could care less about drinking blood like a derranged drug addict hooked on drugs."

Sitting in silence for a few minutes, Alec looked at his pale hands trying to think of a way to get out of here. As well as trying to find an easy way to bring up that his offer of helping Bear and himself get out of here still stands.

But he did not want to hear another prejudice thing come out of the man's mouth.

Dongle 09-30-2014 02:27 AM

Bear stiffened when Alec sat down, but relaxed as the other spoke. He had hummed a little in understanding, nodded his head, and was pretty quiet. Even on his most energetic days he didn't talk much. This was probably the most he had voluntarily said the whole summer. If only it had been half-way decent he may have made a friend.

"It's not like an option for me to fight my parents on things," Bear began limply. "I'd really have nowhere to go if they decided 'Oh our son is an ungrateful, monster-loving prick!' and booted me to the curb." Now sitting up and peppering speech with gesticulation, he continued, "With how backwards my town is, I don't even think we have a curb. They'd pro'lly crucify me, considering they saw that fit.
"Do we even have cars? I dunno, wheels may belong to the Devil, fire is magic, Thomas Edison was a witch, blahrg!"

He pushed his hands back inside the pockets of his flannel and sighed. In all honesty, Bear was interested in hearing about Alec being sick and his brothers, which was surprising since usually Bear was exhausted around people. "So, uh, how did you get sick?" At this point he had forgotten about being lost. The excitement of breaking through the conventions of his parents eclipsed something that would otherwise be pretty damn important.

MoodyBats 09-30-2014 03:10 AM

"Why not try to live on your own in a different town?" Alec asked, raising an eyebrow slightly to bear.

Alec didn't like the sound of his town. It sounded pretty horrible. As if they were living way back then when they thought everyone were witches and warlocks and such.

"I was actually born rather sick. I know it's bizarre since I'm a vampire and I should have the whole immortal thing and heal instantly."

Alec said as he brushed his bangs from his forehead. Most knowledge of vampires Alec knew was misinformed to humans. All humans did was, make-up some sort of ridiculous story of how vampires were and what their abilities were. Alec knew all of this because he went to a school strictly for vampires that taught them everything to know

"I am actually half mortal. Meaning, one of my parents was mortal. Normally humans and vampires should never get married. Yet alone have children. My mother was a full blooded vampire and my father was mortal. It was even a miracle I survived according to my mother. I found it to be a curse. I was sick until Junior high. Mortals and vampires were not to ever have children. Especially with full-blooded vampires and non-magical humans. Magical humans and vampires. That was different. It was rare a child of a non-magical mortal and full-blooded vampire to survive. Most would die in the womb or after birth. Or if they lived, it wouldn't be for very long. A few months at the most."

A sigh passed Alec's lips. Even now he hated how he felt for all of those years. Alec looked down at his shoes silently before he took a breath, speaking once more.

"My brothers had a different father since they were much older than me. They always tormented and taunted me and what they could do and I wasn't able to.And I that wasn't enough, I was pretty much the outcast at my school because I was not a full vampire. Just a halfling."

Alec never got along with his brothers. Not from day 1. And certainly not now. Alec strongly disliked his brothers. The only people he truly cared for was his parents. They were the only people who were nice to him. Alec never had a friend because of what he was or because he was a halfling.

Alec took off his backpack setting it on the ground, not really caring too much that they were lost still. He had gotten into telling Bear about his life. It was actually enjoyable. Even if the story wasn't.

"I had also refused to drink blood which was another reason I had gotten quite sick. Since I was half human, I had the choice weather to not drink blood or not before my body would decide that fate for me for when I would turn 13. I had more vampiric in me than human so when I never drank blood it nearly killed me. Whenever I would try I would always spit it out. Then I just couldn't take it anymore and pursued my blood lust. However, I can't drink female human blood. It's much too tart. And animal blood..too watered down. So I normally perfer..human male blood. Which was also how I ended up figuring out I was gay."

He said with a slight chuckle. Just the thought of animal or female human blood made him queasy.

"I much prefer male human blood. But don't worry I won't attack you or anything. I can usually last without blood for a while. two or three months at the most. I never over indulge myself ."

Alec had never told anyone about his past. It was something rather painful for Alec to actually say. Especially to someone who was human and prejudice towards vampires.

Dongle 09-30-2014 05:51 AM

As Alec recounted his childhood, Bear felt his disease melt away to unexpected familiarity. It was as if they had been sitting in the forest before and this was the second time hearing all of this. Bird songs floated through the evergreens. Water babbling drifted in from nearby. Rich soil smell rose to them and it was all encapsulated by a strong sense of contentment. At least for Bear.

"Did you ever wish you were fully vampiric or human?" he hazard, looking at Alec. Interrupted sunshine lit the corner of his jaw, bridge of his nose, and parts of his hair. Ironically, the vampire looked nearly angelic. Bear turned his head, equal parts ashamed at how stand-offish he'd been all those years at camp and embarrassed by how easily he was being won over.

"And, uh, how much blood, exactly, do you have to drink? Does it always have to be enough to kill someone?" Bear wasn't worried about being attacked. At least not now. Hearing someone give you their sensitive life story took away from how intimidating they could be. Bear almost wanted to hug him.

What he really wanted to know was how Alec lived day to day. Maybe there had been a friend or someone in particular he'd... feed? from. Which word would you use for that? He was tempted to ask, but just as equally weary of overstepping a boundary. It sounded like a touchy subject.

MoodyBats 09-30-2014 02:20 PM

"Human." Alec simply said. If he could have chosen his own fate he would have chosen to be a human. He didn't care for all of the glory vampires get. He just wanted a normal life. That was another reason he started to go to the camp. That and to get away from his dreadful brothers.

"If I could have chosen. I would want to be human. I never wanted to be some blood thirst monster. Not that I am now. I just wanted a normal life. But oh well. Not much you can do when your fate is chosen for you." He said turning to Bear with a smile on his face.

"For me, I don't need much at all. As for my brothers, they love to drain people. They call humans walking blood bags and their only purpose to be drained of all of their blood. I only take maybe thirty seconds to a minute which really isn't a lot since I am a slow drinker. I like to savor the taste. And that'll last be for a good solid three months. I could probably drink more. But I don't really feel it is necessary."

It was odd. Alec felt so comfortable around Bear. Even when talking about a painful story or his drinking habits as a vampire. Alec was kind of glad that he outbursted at Bear earlier. If he didn't he probably wouldn't have had the pleasure to relate and talk to Bear like he was now.

How Alec fed to sustain himself was from blood packs. The kind you would find at a hospital. He only needed one a month at the very least. His clan always stocked up on them. How? He never bothered to ask. He didn't want to know the details how they got them. He knew either way it wasn't very pleasant.

His family was aware he went to camp, but they assumed it was a vampire camp for vampire only. His mother being over protective, packed his bag with a whole supply of blood bags in case he would need to feed. Ever since Alec had gotten better his mother had been always looking out for him. Maybe a little too much.

Looking to Bear, he could tell he was thinking something. He just had that look like he was.

"You are free to ask me anything you know. I won't be offended or anything." He reassured him with a gentle smile.
