Yul'mah didn't hesitate at the sight of magic, she leapt at the orb and attempted to consume it; with no evidence that success was possible. Regardless, she continued to attempt the feat. Vharrus took note of her disobedience, but chose not to react at the moment.
"You don't seem too happy about that fact, m'lady." Vharrus was unsure of why he made it a point to emphasize the last word. "War is a world of it's own. I don't see it necessary to familiarize yourself with your comrades during peaceful times." His response was a blatant attempt to bedevil her.

Kali shot a look at Vhar, her expression slightly dour as she spoke, though her words were nonetheless carefully chosen. "There is a court in which all manner of creatures reside, and the leaders confide in each other during peace or war." she tilted her head back slightly to indicate Aubrey, now happily involved with 'Mah in a game of chase-the-ball, "It is my home, and I am used to him now for the most part.. Besides, he is the least irritating in some respects." Kit edged close to Vhar, and her eyes sparkled a bit wickedly. "And he's afraid of heights." she said in a stage whisper.
That made Aub jerk slightly, his eyes drilling holes into Kali as she proceeded in front of him, though he refused to comment.

'Mah took advantage of Aub's averted gaze and jumped for the orbs still close by his hand, careless of what else she may bite.
"Is that so?" A thoughtful look crossed Vharrus's face for a moment before he spoke again. "Perhaps you should take him flying some day?" A slightly wicked grin caught the corner of his mouth and he forced himself to regain his composure. He turned to face her, unable to hide the fact that he found being this close to her a bit awkward. "A court where all manner of creatures reside, eh? It must be quite a task to make peace there. However, the important thing is that you are a part of it. Does that mean you lead your people?" His look was inquisitive but guarded more so than normal. He found the thought of talking so nonchalantly to a leader quite entertaining. "I must also wonder why my people never knew of this court considering our advancements in magics."

Kali's eyes danced in amusement for a moment, a low laugh escaping her. "If he ever truly irritates me, I intend to." Kit smiled and moved away, not wishing to make him uncomfortable by her nearness. She'd grown too used to her circle in the courts, she supposed. Intimacy was second nature to them, now.
"It was, and it may be a great task in the future should another war come." She shrugged her shoulders, vaguely uncomfortable herself with revealing so much. "Yes.. I do." she was short on that, unrevealing of how much, exactly, she was responsible in the place. "If Aubrey knows of your people, and I do not, I do not think this court existed then, though you would be welcome there."
Aubrey yelped as sharp teeth nipped at his fingers. He jerked his hand away, eyeing the dragon suspiciously. A grin slowly formed as he re-lit the orbs, and flicking them all at her, he followed it with a small electical charge at her back within another orb, not enough to do more that a static shock.

Yul'mah stared at him playfully despite his reaction. It wasn't that she was unaware of her actions, but more so that she simply didn't care. At the sight of more orbs she instantly took off after them, jumping from one to the next until she felt the shock on her back. She shook it off and playfully jumped at her new friend as if she was a mere puppy.
"War will always come. It is not a matter of if, it is a matter of when. My people discovered that fact first hand." Vharrus took what she had said into consideration. "It is entirely possible that this court did not exist, I suppose. My people lived so long ago I can't even remember most of that time, after all. I suppose the mind is limited in its ability to store information, or it may have been the result of my resurrection." He hadn't meant to speak the last bit, but found that he was oddly comfortable with sharing it. He decided not to respond to what may have been an invitation until he had more information.

Aub shook his head, amused at the little one. She reminded him strongly of when Kit's dragonet charge had been young enough to roughhouse. He lept at her, landing catlike, crouched just next to her with a wild grin. His hair flopped over his eyes again, creating quite a ridiculous image. An orb followed him, floating between the pair tantalizingly. He swatted it, and jumped after it, inviting 'Mal to a chase.
"So did mine." she said in a quiet voice. "There are few left, now." She blinked, eyes dark. That grievance against the fire drake would last til her death. His last words, however, would pull her up short, fully turning to look at him. A reanimated body was one thing. But he very clearly had a mind of his own, and so, too, did his companions. "Who did this for you?" she demanded, her voice justly barely cloaked with a request.

Yul'mah didn't hesitate to play, as she never did. Despite her appearance she was more than fast enough to overtake Aub and clamp her jaws over the orb; but to her disappointment it slipped between her bones. If there was one thing she loved it was the hunt, and she wasn't about to give up.
"Maybe you should consider asking nicely." Vharrus jested. "I did this to myself, with the help of a dragon. Each war brings about new weapons, that is always true, and the war my people waged was no different. Our magic was unparalleled even among the dragons that kept us, but so was our enemy's. So I used the one magic they could not to make the one weapon they couldn't fight. The price was steep but I did what had to be done." His tone slowly changed as he spoke, a mix of emotions flowing like waves beneath his words.

Aub grinned at 'Mah, sending the orb skittering away down the hall, alighting on the tip of Yul'Dur's tail, curious to see if he could get them both to play. He didnt need to get close to Kali to hear the barely concealed demand in her voice, and he shot her a look that she ignored pointedly. He looked mildly back at the dragonets, wondering idly how she'd choose to respond to this new information.
Kali's eyes blazed briefly in irritation and she had opened her mouth to respond when she apparently thought the better of it. Her expression smoothed over like glass, becoming aloof, as he had met her at the inn. "Nicely or no, am I wrong to expect you not to share that information?" she glanced down at the book she held briefly. "You were even nervous about this paltry thing." she shrugged and continued to move on, her moods shifting like quicksilver. Inwardly, she considered how best to get him talking more about it.

Yul'Mah didn't think twice before taking off after the orb. Despite her years of experience with her brother she leapt at the orb, ignorant entirely of his tail. With a fluid flick of his tail the orb dispersed and 'Mah was struck and staggered. After taking a moment to regain herself 'Mah turned back to Aub and watched him expectantly.
"Necromancy is a dangerous magic, I'm sure you're aware of that." His voice was hallow again, and he wasn't sure why it bothered him. "The problem is not the magic itself. It is the mistakes that people make when using it." He looked at Kali, trying to judge her reactions but finding little success. "I've seen what it is truly capable of. I can't allow any human to possess that level of power."

Aub studied the dragonet for a moment, curious if she would react like Kits had.. he had to tinker the spell just a bit, as there were some obvious differences. The new ball he lobbed into the air was tinted light blue - and if she nabbed it as she had been, it would leave a splash of matching color across her form for a few minutes.
Kali shrugged nonchalantly at the vague warning in his words. She had enough destructive abilities without using that one. But she couldnt help a crooked grin. "Good thing im not human, then." She remarked casually.

Yul'mah showed no hesitation, jumping up and snatching the orb between her jaws. Though she lacked the eyes to see it, she could feel the magic adhered to her bones. She violently attempted to shake free of it, but found no result. She eyed Aub with a curious yet playfully angry look.
Vaharrus caught sight of Yul'Mah and Aub and couldn't stifle the laugh. "That's quite the look on you, 'Mah." He jested, spreading the color over the rest of her bones with a simple hand gesture. "I suppose you have a point. Although I've no idea what you plan to do with the knowledge, or how much of it you already know. I get the feeling the book will be better off in your hands, at least for now." He studied the walls as he spoke, unable to make eye contact with the strange woman. His thoughts remained on Aub, however.

Aub grinned at Vhar, then turned his eyes back to the dragonet. The ball shifted colors now, becoming a brighter shade of blue as it bounced away from her down the corridor. Aub took advantage of the brief silence from Kit, directing his attention at Vhar. "Well, I'm curious. How did you happen to fall in league with this ragamuffin?" He flicked a glance at Kali with a wicked look of amusement.
Kit shot a glare over her shoulder at Aubrey, but had begun to focus her attention on the nearing exit to the passage.

'Mah stopped chasing the ball as Aub spoke, turning to look at him and snapping her jaws as the last word left his lips. "Calm down,'Mah. I'm sure he meant no offense." Though civil, Vharrus spoke as though he was communicating with a lesser being. "Be mindful of her, Aubrey, she killed a full grown dragon when she was a day old." He decided not to elaborate on that point. He still found himself annoyed with Aub's presence, and childish though it was he found some pleasure in being difficult towards him.

Aub snorted in laughter, bounding forward and swinging an arm around Kali, who reacred with a snarl, pushing aub away, but not before aub had ruffled her hair into a mussed pile on her head. "Ragamuffin? This one right here, not you" he dropped to his knees in a flash and offered another ball to chase for Mah. "Not you, gorgeous. " he chuckled and stood, moving next to Vhar. "Kali doesn't typically take up with others, so I was curious. " he explained, apparently taking no notice of the dislike in vhars tone.

Yul'Mah ignored the ball entirely and butted her way in between Vharrus and Aub. Her demeanor seemed to change from playful to protective, though there was still a hint of whimsy about her. She stretched her flesh-less wing at Aub, clearly attempting to distance him from her master.
"Ragamuffin.." Vharrus pondered the word for a moment. "Not exactly how I would describe her, given my brief experience." He laid his hand and 'Mah's head, mildly surprised by her protective behavior. Yul'Dur nudged his leg from the other side, seemingly jealous of the attention given to 'Mah. Vharrus somewhat reluctantly pat his head. His pets were rarely out together, and this was a side of them he had only seen a small number of times. "We just met, actually. I found her interesting enough to accompany, and she offered, so here we are."

Aub took the tip of 'Mahs wing and shook it lightly as if for a handshake, his eyes glittering in amusement. Outwardly , he didnt seem to take anything seriously. "Glad to meet you too," he told her. Aubs ruby gaze shifted to Vhar again, and for the firat time a hint of steel entered his voice. He seemed to have reacted finally to both Mals display and to vhars dislike. Defending his own. "To kill a full grown dragon, for a kit," kali shot a dangerous look at the vampyre, which he ignored, "is quite a feat." Aub grinned wolfishly. "Though understandable if they were defending something." He seemed to have an uncanny insight, hidden beneath his words.
"Still, glad you kept this one out of trouble before I arrived. " he snicked and shoved at Kali, who stumbled and subsequently glared at him briefly. The squabbles of men and thier pets did not interest her at the moment. .. the closer d spaces had brgun to get under her skin, and desputr her appearance of calm she had picked up the pace.

'Mah ignored Aub brushing her off, her wing returning to it's resting place tight to the rest of her body. She moved forward with a sense of pride, picking up the pace and catching up to Kali. She brushed up against her gently, as if begging for attention.
Vharrus waited a moment before responding to Aub, silently wondering why Kali was so eager to leave. He didn't blame her though, Aub was a nuisance as far as he could tell, and he had no desire to be around him any more than was necessary. "They're certainly stronger than they look." Vharrus lengthened his stride to catch up with Kali, hoping to leave Aubrey behind, though he was sure the bother would simply pick up the pace to catch up. He turned his attention to Kali before he spoke. "I get the feeling he's more trouble than you are."

Absently, kali rested her hand against 'Mah, her eyes still focused ahead. As she realized that she was lightly rubbing the bone-formed body of the dragonet, her hand jerked away, folding into a cross armed defensive stance. She blinked in surprise at vhars comment, having been in her mind a bit. "Hes quite a bother.. despite being a nuisance and a ladies man however, he is part of my mismatch ed family." The protectice tone vhar had had over his dragobs had entered her voice, disgruntled though she sounded at saying it.
Aub sighed, a long suffering sound that clearly displayed his feelings about being the odd man out. He made no move to catch up, being quite able to see and hear them from anywhere in this corridor. Aub didnt even comment, returning to a solitary game of juggling tiny fireballs as he walked.

'Mah looked up at Kali as she pulled her hand away, clearly upset by her response, but she made no attempt to reestablish the connection. She seemed content to walk at Kali's side for the time being.
"Family, eh?" There was no clear tone to Vharrus's words as he spoke, though he made no attempt to hide anything. "These two are the only ones I can consider my family." He gently stroked Yul'Dur's spine as he spoke. "Though I suppose I shouldn't refer to them as two beings, considering they're both part of the same dragon."

"I have no blood relatives, but many that I consider my family." Kali said lightly, glossing over any important facts. "Are they the dragon that helped you? " she asked, inquisitive.
Aubs head lifted suddenly, the fireballs disappearing instantly. He bounded past the four ahead of him, body slamming into what had appeared to be just anothe section of the corridor. The illusion shattered, leaving the early dawn light to burst in upon them. A brief scuffle sounded from outside, then quieted almost instantly. A low laugh resounded from outside, aub now sitting content on the chest of a burly guard. He was nose to nose with the terrified man, steadily poking him in the nose with one sharp nailed finger.

"Yes, they're.." Vharrus was cut off as Aub shot past the rest of the group. His dragons momentarily took up defensive stances, but seemed only curious when the man passed by, quickly taking up his heel as he exited the tunnel. By the time they made it out Aub was already seated on the guard. Yul'Mah took advantage of Aub's averted attention and tackled him off of the guard, playfully biting at him in the process, and Yul'Dur proudly claimed the gaurd's chest as his throne, clearly delighted at the fearful man's expression.
"They're both fragments of her soul." Vharrus finished, almost entirely blinded by the sunlight. He stopped for a moment to allow his senses to balance before leaving the tunnel, and quickly donned his hood. "They have developed more over the last few thousand years, however. So much so that I sometimes forget what they are myself."

Aub rolled over on his back, cutting quite the comic figure as he tussled with Mah. He looked up at Kit pleadingly as she stepped out, jesting as he said, "Get this beast off of me! Im no match for this lady!" He blinked and grinned, going limp and playing dead.
Kali nodded, having guessed a bit of that. She couldnt help but laugh at Aub, apparently pinned, and at Dur, perched proudly on the terrified human. "I suppose we should go back to the inn.." she mused half to herself, glancing at the sky's lightening color.

'Mah looked inquisitively at Aub, unsure of how to respond to his actions. She turned her attention to 'Dur for a moment and then promptly took a proud seat on Aub's chest, clearly mimicking the other dragon.
"It does seem to be the best course of action." Vharrus removed the pendant he had liberated from his cloak, turning it over a couple times so that he could observe it in the dawn's light. "However, I get the feeling I should take this somewhere, and I don't think I should wait to do so." His dragons attention was drawn to the pendant as he rolled it in his hand. Even he could see the magic emanating from it's core. The beasts approached the object warily, curiosity mixed with unease. "It seems these two don't know any more than I do of it. For some reason I get the feeling it doesn't belong here."

Vharrus was quite surprised to hear Aub speak, he stared at the man blankly for a moment before responding. "I'm not sure, I just get the feeling it belongs... elsewhere. Perhaps it's the magic at work." He turned his attention back to the pendant, absorbed in thought. "I guess I'll have to ask this Keeper then. Where can I find him?"
