The Gaining of Knowledge (Esmme, Kilia, and blueblackrose's little thread)

Well. I suppose I should say something. Namely: No, I don't care about others, and no, I don't want to get attached to people. What kind of Sithe would want that? Weakness, that's all it is. Trust is weakness. I'm not letting my guard down. Not again.

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ as played by Esmme

"Honor is that which kills one, and flatters another. To trust is to seal your fate."

PHYSICAL

Nickname Cy, though he hates it
Title Assassin

Age Twenty-six
Gender Male
Orientation Straight
Hair Black with hints of crimson
Eyes Reflective green
Build Lithe and well-muscled - obviously trained for quick, silent movement and combat.
Skin tone Honestly, his night life interferes with this. He is fairly pale, but not unhealthily so. Average skin tone, though doesn't spend his life in the sun.
Height 6'3"
Weight Works hard to keep himself fairly light - have to be able to scale buildings somehow!
Handed Right
Body markings He has a scar that resembles this tattoo on his arm. It is not inked, but carved into him. Ara'mis has a tattoo that resembles a darkly inked pattern over his right shoulder and upper arm.
Scars He has his fair share of scars. There are multiple marks from him being stabbed, cut, and beaten all about his torso. His arms are also covered in pale lines from various fights.

MENTAL & EMOTIONAL

Personality Ara'mis has long prided himself his success. To say that he doesn't have a pride complex about his work would be foolish, as it is literally his life.

Not only does Ara'mis make a living through his work, but it also keeps him on his toes. He's offended quite a few people by killing off their relatives and significant others. There's a very strong possibility that there's a price on his head, let alone a whole garland of strong feelings such as hatred and disgust. Does this make him want to change his ways? No, it doesn't.

Ara'mis can be your best friend. He can also be the one who kills off your worst enemy. Or perhaps the one you trust guarding the doorway. He can be a lot of things. What he really is consists of lies and masks. Those are the best disguises. Nothing is ever real. Ara'mis is a born liar, and is known for being sly (I suppose that comes with his racial quirks. People from his side of the region aren't known for being trustworthy).

To say that Ara'mis has no true personality is unfair. His core is full of deceit and a general opportunistic outlook. There are two faces he wears commonly: the public mask, and the assassin's mask. In public, he is a pleasant enough individual. "Pleasant" being he can charm a lady away from her man's arm. When he's on a job, though, Ara'mis becomes a cold, ruthless killer with a mind only for the contract.

He'll stop at nothing to get a job done. Scale a cliff? He'll find a way. Slip past a cat without it hearing? Done. Avoid falling to one's death? Succeeded. Multiple times ... and all for coin - Ara'mis holds no loyalty to any individual, and would rather target his own mother than pass up a good payment.

A contract is only as binding as its monetary worth. Ara'mis also enjoys high-profile jobs. Why? They are noticed, you see. What better to see your handiwork from afar? As long as they never see a face, it's the perfect success. He takes pride in his successes, after all. In his mind's eye, there is nothing Ara'mis can't do.

Mortal Alignment Neutral Evil - he holds no loyalty, and is driven by his own desires in any and every situation. Ara'mis is restricted by no law ... or so he tells himself.

Motivation Ara'mis is motivated by the need to stay unpredictable and the best in his field. He is largely moved to action by offers of wealth, as it is the best way to create more networks and bribe others. Ara'mis also will be motivated by high-profile tasks that are difficult and risky to pull off.

Fear(s) Becoming "soft" and actually being loyal to someone is one of his greatest fears. He hates the thought of losing his hold on his skill - he doesn't want to die.

Likes The thrill of a successful contract is something he enjoys. His work is his true enjoyment ... as well as the company of women. He truly does enjoy that. Ara'mis enjoys keeping others unsure of his true self - deceit is a skill he loves deploying.

Dislikes He's not fond of people who speak of friendship or family ties like there's nothing stronger. He finds it ridiculous, and hates hearing it. Ara'mis also dislikes small cute things of any sort. He's not the "stop and smell the roses" sort of person.

Strengths

Stealth. If Ara'mis doesn't want to be seen, heard, or even smelled .... he won't be.
Brutal and head-strong. Ara'mis will complete a task, even if he has to die to do it. He never leaves a contract unfinished, and will tear a man to pieces if need be.
Unprejudiced. Since Ara'mis holds no loyalty, he rarely sees any person as his worst enemy unless they've made themselves one. Yes, he is wary of all, but he will not treat you like scum unless it's warranted.

Weaknesses

Unable to accept allies. This leads to complications in any agreement or "friendship" Ara'mis encounters, as he isn't familiar with what's expected (nor does he care).
Prideful. He tends to think of his skills highly, and though he never underestimates his opponent, he will attempt feats that often get him into trouble or hurt.
Driven by desires. Ara'mis holds little predictability because he is pushed every which way by his own wants and desires. This makes everything he does only as lasting as his desire may be.

SPIRITUAL
This image has been resized. Click this bar to view the full image. The original image is sized 736x446.

Faith & Morals Ara'mis doesn't believe in deities or higher powers. There's no point to it - none of them would favor him anyway. If there were any that he so much as jokingly believed, it would be Lady Luck.
Virtues There are few virtues that can be applied to a man who kills for a living. Ara'mis' only virtue is diligence - he will stop at nothing to get a job done. He is very persistent, and doesn't allow himself to be laid-back or lazy.
Sins While Ara'mis has few virtues, he is victim to many sins. Lust is his worst - he's constantly falling into thoughts of the opposite gender, and has received quite a few wounds just for looking at a woman wrong. Greed is high on his list, as his main motivation for work is the price. Anything can be done if the price is high enough. Pride is his third, as he takes far too much pride in every job well done. Really, that means he takes pride in every job he completes, as he sees every one as completed perfectly.

ATTIRE

Head/Neck Ara'mis regularly wears a dark grey hood and cloak, and goes nowhere without it. Ara'mis also wears a necklace with an ice crystal pendant infused with ice magic.
Chest/Back As an assassin, he wears plenty of light leather armor and various pieces of protection.
Arms/Legs While there are bracers about his wrists, Ara'mis wears fingerless gloves and little arm protection. He needs his arms and legs free of restriction for free movement and the delicacies required of his work.

WEAPONRY & EQUIPMENT
This image has been resized. Click this bar to view the full image. The original image is sized 837x380.

Weapon 1 Ara'mis' main weapons consist of one slightly curved, double-edged dagger, and a long blade. They are very balanced, and he is never seen without them at his waist. Ara'mis' blade has an unnatural quality to it, in such that it is a trails ash.
Weapon 2 Ara'mis' second weapon of choice is a pair of hidden blades sheathed at his wrists. At first sight, they are unnoticeable. They are used namely for stabbing and swift assassinations. The blade has the ability to life-drain, but only if certain conditions are met, such as species and weakness.
Weapon 3 Poison. He carries a small pouch of it with him, though uses it only when necessary. He thinks poison is a cheap and very cliche weapon, but the resources to create it are plentiful.

COMBAT ABILITY

Rating System
[Perfect] - [Excellent] - [Above Average] - [Average] - [Below Average] - [Poor] - [Terrible] - [No Skill]

Hand-to-hand [Excellent] -- As an assassin, Ara'mis was trained to treat his entire body as a weapon. He can best most, and rarely meets someone who can keep up with him.
Melee [Perfect] -- He was born with a blade in hand ... or, could have been. Ara'mis has trained with blades since he was a child. Very few can best him, and he's never lost a fight (unless, of course, he willingly ran away).
Ranged [Above Average] -- Ara'mis has trained with various long range weapons, and is proficient with thrown blades. Bows he can manage, but doesn't prefer them as they can't be easily hidden on one's person.
Magic [No Skill] -- Ara'mis has never put much faith in mystical abilities, and has seen very little of it.
Mounted [Terrible] -- He's only tried once or twice, but he's not the best rider ... so couple that with weapons, and you get a disaster. Ara'mis despises horseback combat.

Occupation Assassin and mercenary for hire
History Ara’mis Cy Zane hails from a culture very different from those of the four kingdoms. His own people are known as the Sithe (pronounced “S-eye-th”), and are a scourge on the other races. While primarily human in decent, it is also common to find other bloodlines in many of the Sithe houses.

Sithe Mentality:

The Sithe learn to trust no one - the only time an alliance is made is when they are completely confident in their own skill to outmatch their ally. If there is no trust, there is no true friendship. Alliances are ever-shifting, and hold no value to the Sithe.

The Sithe have no loyalty to their own bloodlines, to greater powers, or to their own race - their loyalty lies in whichever direction they feel currently led, and can be easily shifted. Every one of the Sithe admires stealth and guile, and are encouraged to become more proficient in the ways of assassination, thievery, spy networking, and various other shady professions that the rest of the world would frown upon.

It is particularly important to realize that the Sithe cannot be trusted, and are devious beyond all else.

Sithe Culture/Society:

The Sithe society is heavily influenced by sin and a lack of structure. While most societies are ruled by either patriarchs (males) or matriarchs (females), the Sithe are simply ruled by whoever is fit to lead. There is no king or ruler of their society - not for long. Their homeland is made up of a dozen houses, each of which have a leader of their own.

Each leader comes to power and will eventually be killed off while another takes their place. Each house is based on the roles that the Sithe enjoy taking. There is the assassin's house/guild, the thieves’ house/guild, the spy house, etc.

Ara’mis’ childhood and young teen years:

As a child, he knew the darkness of his society. It didn’t matter to him; darkness was normal, so why should it bother him? He was raised by his mother and older brother, was born with a blade in his hand, and learned various tricks to stay out of harm’s way.

He was never forced to realize what the Sithe "lack of loyalty" meant until he was old enough to choose which house he wanted to be in. Immediately, Ara’mis knew he wanted to be an assassin. As he fought to join their ranks, he trained. He trained every waking moment, fiercely gaining skill and determination. He would join the assassin’s house, no matter what stood between him and his goal.

On his twelfth birthday, he was chosen to join the ranks upon completing one task: an assassination. If he were to fail, then he would never join the assassin’s house. Ara’mis accepted his first mission. He found out later that it consisted of killing one man. That one man was his brother.
To become a killer, one must lose their humanity. Ara’mis destroyed himself the day he took his brother’s life. His fall was completed when his own mother turned against him at the knowledge. She led him into the wooded forests outside of their city in an attempt to leave him dead among the trees. As fate would have it, Ara’mis was the victor of their fight. It haunted him for years to be forced to fight his own mother and brother both, and to kill each of them in turn.

When he returned to the city, Ara’mis had no family to speak of. Not only had he completed his guild master’s assignment, but he’d rid himself of any loyalties he’d ever formed. When he officially joined the assassin’s house, Ara’mis was determined to become the best.

Departing from the Sithe and recent past:

Ara’mis swiftly became untouchable. He rose through the ranks of the assassin’s house, and was destined to become the leader. As he became more skilled, the youth found himself … lacking something. He didn’t want to stay with the Sithe in the endless cycle of domination. If he were to become leader, he would be slain. Instead of this, he wanted something more.

He left the Sithe suddenly, and knew he wouldn’t be missed. As he ventured into the kingdoms, he found it simple to blend in. There were quite a few people who didn’t want to get their hands dirty, and were willing to pay through the nose to get things done. Ara’mis preyed on them quite proficiently, and slowly but surely saw his handiwork rise among the ranks. As war plagued the land, Ara’mis merely grew more content. He now had a land full of strife and hatred to use to his advantage.

It was a few years into his routine when Ara’mis found himself in the oddest of situations. At the age of seventeen he was traveling with a group of what the common folk called “brigands.” Ara’mis was scouting and keeping watch for the night when he caught sight of something that he wouldn’t have been able to see had it not been for his uncanny ability to see in the dark. He approached, and was attacked by the most unlikely of creatures – Fiaria, of all people. They fought intensely, and after an evenly skilled match, Ara’mis managed to land a blow – a lovely wound along the woman’s side.

All the commotion from their fight alerted the others to trouble. Ara’mis, strangely, did not reveal Fiaria’s presence to the others. Instead, he waited until everyone had headed back to camp before seeking the strange huntress out. He found her, which should have been impossible for a human in the dark. Luckily, Ara’mis’ ability to see in the dark aided him in finding her trail of blood and tracking her down not far off.

They spoke. For once, Ara’mis was nearly interested in befriending someone once again. But … that would have been foolish. Instead, he helped Fiaria by offering her bindings for her wounds, and made a deal with the girl. He would help her take down the man she was after (coincidentally someone he was guarding) if she gave him something of value. No job was ever done for free, after all. The task was completed, and Ara’mis was just as “surprised” as his brigand allies in the morning when they found the body. With that, Ara’mis chose to enter the kingdom of Yuua and leave the roads behind. He couldn’t be stuck with low-profile goons forever. His curiosity about his own bloodline prompted him to head home to the Sithe for a brief while before finishing there and returning to Yuua.

While his presence can’t be confirmed, Ara’mis is most certainly known throughout the land. There is no trademark to his work, save the fact that the tasks he performs are largely impossible. Ara’mis has recently taken residence in the kingdom of Yuua, where he offered his services to the first person who caught his eye: the Princess Helena.

OTHER

Extras Doesn’t like music of any form (likely because music is very emotional). Seeks greater purpose, though doesn’t admit it to himself.

Ara’mis has the ability to see in the dark, and feels quite at home within the shadows. Not all Sithe have infravision, but Ara’mis’ mixed bloodline gives him such sight. It is speculated that Fiaria’s family is mixed into Ara’mis’ at some point in the past.

▬▬▬▬▬ Fiaria Anise Silverfang • • • • •
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ as played by blueblackrose

"Destiny is something that one decides on their own, but that does not mean others can't help to shape that destiny. After all fate is what brings us all together in the end."

PHYSICAL

Nickname Fia, Ria, Anise
Title Anthro Hunter

Age Twenty-nine
Gender Female
Orientation Heterosexual
Hair Raven
Eyes Ice Blue
Build Slender/Athletic
Skin tone Ivory
Height Five foot six inches
Weight One hundred twenty-seven pounds
Handed Ambidextrous, usually uses right hand
Body markings Fiaria has a tear shaped spot on her chest. It's a mark that represents the head family of Ice Claw Clan, where she is from. When in her human form she has dull black marks covering her body that one might mistake a tribal tattoos. They are actually the markings on her body from her tiger stripes.
Scars There is a four inch long scar that goes diagonally across the middle of Fiaria's back she received from a human during the attack on her clan which scattered them to the wind. It is only really visible when she is in her true/beast form and her human form.

MENTAL & EMOTIONAL

Personality There are several different things that make up Fiaria's personality. On one side she is influenced by the way she was raised. She was taught from a young age to uphold the traditional values of the Katayan and the Ice Claw Clan. This being said even with her clan destroyed she still upholds the traditions that she believes to be right. One of the things she most believes in is being loyal to your kinsman. The only way she wouldn't help out another member of her race whether they be full blooded or mix-blood was if they betrayed her trust.

Fiaria knows well that her kind a feared and looked down upon by humans. Even knowing this she still can't help the curiosity she has for the human world, mostly being happy with just quietly observing from a distance. Humans are interesting creatures to her.

Despite the fact that humans had attacked her clan, scattering them to the winds she doesn't hate them, at least not like she did after the attack. As time passed the woman came to terms with what happened and put aside her feelings of hate. After all hatred would only bring about more hatred. This was a lesson Fiaria learned the hard way many years ago.

One day she hopes that the humans and the other creatures of this world can live in peace. Fiaria may wish for peace, but isn't naive enough to think that it will come without a price. She is a fierce woman who is fearless when she's fighting for something she believes in or to protect others no matter who they are.

Confident, strong, stubborn and a bit cold is how most people see her when they first met. If one takes to the time to try to get to know the tiger woman they would see that she can also be very caring and gentle woman. They will also find out that she takes pride in who and what she is even if others fear or hate her for it.

Mortal Alignment Neutral Good

Motivation Fiaria is motivated by what she believes to be right, her hope for peace and the Katayan traditions that she upholds.

Fear(s) She fears losing herself to hate again. She has little left to lose, but that doesn't change the fact that she fears losing what family she knows she still has. The thought of running into others of her kind and them recognizing her.

Likes Nature and it's beauty. The mountains, snow, the cold, night time, napping in trees, sunning herself on a warm rock, hunting. Fiaria enjoys adventure and learning more about the world that she's been thrown into because of humans.

Dislikes Cities, bees, those who destroyed her home (not many of them are still alive), trusting humans, the Guardian of the Forest, loud noises and losing.

Strengths

Perseverance - Being left to fend for herself at the age of twelve she always managed a find a way to survive, to deal with what life throws at her and over come obstacles. Fiaria hasn't had an easy life, but really she wouldn't have it any other way. The ability to learn, adapt and survive are three of the most important skills she possesses.
Fierce and Fearless - No matter the odds Fiaria moves forward without fear. She is a fierce woman and warrior accepting whatever challenges come her way. There is nothing left for this woman to lose as most of what she held close and dear disappeared when she was still a child. So she will continue to move forward, fighting for what she believes is right.
Protective Nature - Naturally protective of those she cares about and the safety of others the tiger woman is known for being selfless when others are in danger. Her warrior pride will not allow her to let those she fights along side or those who aren't involved in her battles to come to harm. She makes an excellent ally if you gain her trust and respect.

Weaknesses

Curiosity - Fiaria is curious by nature. Things that are new and different intrigue her. Being over curious has lead to her getting into trouble on more than one occasion.
Stubbornness - Like most of her people she can be very stubborn. Once she sets her mind on something it's very hard to change her mind or make her change her course.
Inability to totally forgive and let go of the dislike and hate that she now hides deep within her heart.

SPIRITUAL

Faith & Morals Nebe Blodmåne is the religion of the Katayans and the one that she believes in. She often prays to the different gods for guidance as she walks down the new path she has chosen.
Virtues Diligence is something that makes this woman who she is. She isn't one to give up even when the odds are not in her favor. Fiaria will do all within her power to do what she thinks is right and she must do. Fiaria shows kindness to all in her own way. This is something she is gaining slowly as she does her best to put the past behind her and start over.
Sins One thing that Fiaria will always struggle with is wrath. For the most part she has managed to hide away her hate, but from time to time it still springs forward. It's doubtful that she will ever truly overcome the dislike she carries for humans.

ATTIRE

Head/Neck Sometimes she wears a golden circlet with a brillant ice crystal around her head. It's getting rarer for her to wear it since she doesn't see the point of wearing the status symbol in a world where it means nothing. She often wears a hooded cloak, typically in a color that will blend into where she's travelling at the time. When in human form she sometimes attempt to hide her tiger ears with a hat.
Chest/Back While in her true/beast form she typically wears a form fitting leather dress with a belt that has pouches hanging from it. When in her human form she usually wears a light white shirt under a black leather waist cincher with a long skirt that has a split up to her thigh on the side.
Arms/Legs In her true form she wears gold and blue bracers that match her circlet along with an arm band that also has an ice crystal. She also wears over the knee boots. While in human form she wears black leather and metal gauntlets as well as thigh high black leather boots.

WEAPONRY & EQUIPMENT

Weapon 1 Frozen Tear (pictured above). This long sword was enchanted with ice magic by her ancestors. It is one of the few things that she has left from her home.
Weapon 2 Recurve Bow and quiver with twelve arrows.
Weapon 3 Magic. The magic she possess' is mostly elemental based. Fiaria specializes in ice magic. She is also able to use water, wind and earth magic, but only for minor attacks and defenses. Her healing magic is very limited and only able to heal minor injuries.

COMBAT ABILITY
Rating System
[Perfect] - [Excellent] - [Above Average] - [Average] - [Below Average] - [Poor] - [Terrible] - [No Skill]

Hand-to-hand [Above Average] -- One of the greatest weapons any Katayan has is their claws. Fighting with weapons isn't always an option so Fiaria has no problem with getting her claws dirty when needed. When given the option though she will almost always choose using her sword over her own hands.
Melee [Excellent] -- Hand-to-hand fighting is fun in all, but it won't always win the battle. Fiaria would much rather fight with a weapon, such as her sword. Being from a warrior race it's only natural that she pick up on the different forms of fighting and attempt to master one.
Ranged [Average] -- Keen eyesight in both the day time and night has its advantages as well. Bow and arrow are her chose range weapons, but she's equally accurate with throwing knifes or chakram.
Magic [Above Average] -- Magically ability is inherent in her family. It's only nature that she be trained to use that magic.
Mounted [Poor] -- It isn't that she doesn't like horses, but they just doesn't care much for her. It's probably because she is a predator and they can sense it.

BACKGROUND

Kingdom Affiliation None
Marital Status Single
Occupation Hunter and sometimes guide for hire
History Fiaria Anise Silverfang was born in the Katayan village of Borania home of the Ice Claw Clan within the Kuede Mountains.

Katayan Culture/Society
The Katayan are a feline shape-shifting race. They have three forms; one is where they look human except they have cat ears and tails along with markings on their body similar to the large cat they resemble, the second one they look like half cat and half human, and the third form is their cat form, in this form they would look like one of these big cats Tiger (orange, white, or black), Lion (brown or white), Panther (black or white), Leopard (regular or snow), or Lynx. They live in clans or tribes which usually have one main village, but sometimes have a couple smaller ones that are under the clan’s control. Most clans are friendly towards each other. Even though they are friendly they are very fierce warriors most other races think they are violent because they are mysterious and tend to keep to themselves, so little known about them. They also live in the depths of forests, jungles and mountains to keep hidden.

The Ice Claw Clan much like the other clans of the Katayan are very structured. The clan is ruled by the head family who receives support and guidance from the Clan Elders. They are very loyal to their bloodlines and others of their race. Blood is their bond as it should be, at least in their eyes. The head families of each clan usually are the strongest whether it be in brute strength, magic or both. The Silverfang family of the Ice Claw Clan is made up of two main families. One is the Silverfang’s who have always been admired and honored for their strength and fearlessness while in battle. The other family is the Fubuki family who are well known for their use of magic, specializing in ice magic.

Before the World Turned Upside Down
From the moment she was born it was expected of her to become the next head of the clan by the elders. Her training to learn the valued traditions of her people and the ways of the clan began when she turned two years old. As she grew older she began to realize what was expected of her and what her destiny was to be or so she foolishly thought. With the aid of her two younger siblings she had no doubt that she would be able to become the leader her people sought when the time came for her to take over. Those dreams were not to be.

By the age of four she had managed to learn to control her magic powers and by six she had completely mastered shifting between her three different forms. Most of her days were filled with lessons and practice that ranged from using magic, fighting, history and what she would need to become a leader. Her learning went well though from time to time she would give the elders who were teaching her problems as she would sneak off to play with her siblings and other children instead of studying. The tiger woman might not have had a normal childhood, but it was a happy one.

Fiaria was always a curious creature and this was something that her parents and the elders tried to force her to not let get the best of her. Perhaps it was the girl’s curiosity that saved her on that fateful day shortly after she turned twelve. There had been rumors of humans seen in the mountains near the village. Due to these rumors it was forbidden that any of the children go into the forest without an adult. Fiaria being who she is didn’t listen knowing well that if she didn’t go off on her own she wouldn’t be able to see a human from a safe distance of course. She snuck out in search of these foreign creatures that she had heard stories of. Even though she knew that her kind were feared and hated it didn’t make her less curious.

While out in the forest searching an army of humans entered Borania. Hearing the fighting and cries the young girl rushed back to her home to find it under siege. At first she stood at the edge staring in disbelief as those devils slaughtered her clansmen. It didn’t matter to them if those they attacked were elderly, children or unable to fight back. An enormous rage welled up within Fiaria. With a roar filled with hatred and rage she rushed into the battle, picking up a sword as she headed towards the man who was attacking a woman. Swinging the sword she blocked the man’s axe. Glancing back she ordered the woman to run. The young girl fought with skill beyond her years, but there was only so much she could do to help her clansmen. They were outnumbered and at a disadvantage with some of the new technology the humans had brought with them.

Fiaria will never forget her father giving the order to those who could to retreat to safety. He also ordered a couple of his strongest fighters to guard his family as they retreated. He was going to stay and fight until the end. The girl tried to argue, but none would listen. Alemi was the person whom her father had entrusted her to. The man was someone she had looked up to and trusted. He picked her up and got her safely to the forest.

She remembers Alemi setting her down and her pleading with him for them to go back to fight. He told her no, she was the future leader and as such needed to stay safe. Just as she was about to argue with him he pushed her away with a growl. Next thing she knew Alemi was struggling with a human that had followed them. Without thinking she attacked the man with her sword to get him away from her bodyguard. What happened after that point is a bit foggy in the woman’s mind. She remembers the human yelling, Alemi scrambling to his feet and moving to between her and the human. Someone else was there, another human they hadn’t noticed. He came up behind her and struck her leaving a gash diagonally across her back, one which she still has a scar from. The blow most have knocked her out because after that point all she knows is that she awoke to find herself alone. Alemi’s lifeless bloody body was lying beside her. He had protected her until the very end.

Alone in a New World
A sad roar escaped the young Katayan as she kneeled beside the body of her fallen guardian and friend. The scent of blood was thick in the air. It was a mixture of that of her kin and that of the humans. The girl’s back hurt from the slash across it. Somehow she managed to take care of the wound before finally willing herself to rise to her feet. Fiaria found herself wandering in the direction of her village. The sight before her when she reached her destination was burned into her memory. It is something she’ll never forget. Most of the village burning, bodies of her kin and humans everywhere, blood stained the ground a brilliant crimson. She searched frantically through what remained of her home. Much to her despair she found the bodies of her parents. Kneeling beside them then and there she clinched her fist swearing to take revenge on the humans who destroyed their home, that scatter those who managed to survive to the winds. She would hunt them down and they would pay.

There wasn’t much left, but the young girl managed to find a few things to help heal her wounds and to at least get her started on her new journey. After burying her parents bodies Fiaria left the ruins of the village. Hatred raged in her heart and her mind was made up. She set out to track down the humans who destroyed everything she held dear in this world. Her journey led her across the land into foreign territory, but that didn’t stop her. Slowly she was able to track down the humans that remained of the army from that day. Many rumors spread about the murders she committed. In many ways the teen girl had become the creature that human’s feared her race to be.

Finding Her Own Path
At the age of twenty she was coming closer to her goal. She had spent months tracking down a group of men who were connected to the destruction of her home. One night she had finally found them in an encampment. Little did Fiaria know that her world would start to change again with the meeting of a single human of mix-blood. That man was Ara’mis. She was encircling the camp when she spotted the man approaching her. Without a second thought she attacked him. They fought intensely, evenly skilled, until Ara’mis managed to land a blow leaving her with a wound on her side.

The commotion of their fight had alerted the other humans. She was surprised as the male basically pushed her as she moved to duck behind a bush. It was strange that he didn’t reveal her presence to the other humans. While he was assuring them nothing was wrong she took the opportunity to escape into the forest. A safe distance away she sat under a tree to treat her wound and rethink her plan. Fiaria also wondered why Ara’mis had a familiar scent, one similar to her clan. As she rested she remembered that long ago a member of her family had been banished for crimes against the clan. Maybe that person had made a home with humans? It seemed strange, but she supposed it was possible.

When Ara’mis found Fiaria they met on better terms. The pair spoke. He offered her bindings which she was hesitant to take. The deal he offered her was one she didn’t pass up. He would help her to kill the three men she was after. Of course she had to give up something of value in return for his help. The item she gave him was one that held value, both sentimental and monetary. It was necklace with an ice crystal pendant, the crystal infused with ice magic from her family. With the man’s help she completed her mission without another incident.

This chance encounter made the now young woman wonder if she could possible wrong about all humans. From the time she left the ruins of the village and until now she had only been observing the darker side of humanity. Maybe not all humans are like the men she had been killing. After this the woman moved on continuing what she set out to do. This time though she took time to observe the other sides that human’s held.

A few years after her encounter with Ara’mis Fiaria had another this time with a child. The child happened upon her standing of the bloody body of their father. The look that child had in his eyes as he glared at her shook something inside her. The child reminded her of herself eleven years ago. Maybe her course wasn’t the right one? One day would this child come hunting for her because she took the life of their father? The tiger woman moved to the boy, kneeling. She told him ‘I don’t expect you to understand and I don’t expect you to forgive me for what I have done. This was the path I chose after losing my entire family. Don’t make the same mistake as me, but if you do one day decide to hunt me for what I’ve done then I’ll accept that fate. Though if you do, I won’t go down without a fight.’ Really she hadn’t expected the boy to understand what she meant, but she hoped that maybe part of what she said would reach him. That it would make a difference.

After that the woman continued to travel not staying in one place too long. It seemed she had basically given up on her vow of revenge. Time passed and her opinion of humans changed. She came to realize that they had more sides and were actually quite interesting to watch. The more she watched and learned the more she started to remember the old legends that the elders use to tell her. As she put aside her feelings of hate, burying them deep within her heart, she found new hope. A hope that maybe one day the humans and other creatures of this world can live in peace like they did in the days of old.

Now the Katayan can be found roaming the lands, mostly between the kingdoms of Yuua and Rashmaal. From time to time she hires herself out as a guide, guard or just hunter to those who aren't afraid of what she is. She has been known to also help those in need or who are lost. Fiaria still remains a mysterious and curious creature that some find hard to pin down on where she really stands.

"I am too much of a threat to keep alive, but too valuable to kill."

PHYSICAL

Nickname Rayne or Luna
Title Seer/Priest

Age 23
Gender Female
Orientation Unknown
Hair Dirty Blond
Eyes Blue
Build She isn't the petite skinny little girl that most people would think. Many do not believe that she weighs as much as she does for the fact that she has that hour glass figure that most would kill for. Curves all in the right place, she has enough muscles that she can defend her self but not so much that if she had a man it would intimidate him. She considers herself chunky, she knows she could slim down and be lean and muscular, but she rather be slightly chunky. Her lips were plump, not to big for her face, they were considered bow shape. Her nose can be described as a button nose, it is slightly turned up at the tip. Her eyes are almond shape with the outer corners turned up slightly making it almost appear as if she has more of a cat eye shape then an almond one. Her face is slightly heart shaped, making her facial features seem soft.
Skin tone Her skin is what most would considered a pale tan. Meaning her skin is pale enough that most consider her white though just tan enough that the sun does not burn her skin from just being out in it.
Height Five feet Five inches
Weight 160 pounds
Handed ambidextrous
Body markings has a tattoo right below her belly button, one at the base of her neck, and one around her wrist
Scars She has several scars from her past though the are hard to see against her skin for the fact they are just slightly paler then her actual skin. The few that sticks out the most is a cut right by her right eye, where she had hit her head. The other is a harsh slightly tan-ish pink scar on her arm where she had been stabbed, a star shaped scar on her shoulder blade. The last one is on her opposite arm that goes at an angle at the bend down towards the opposite side to her wrist which she got from a nail when she had been exploring.

MENTAL & EMOTIONAL

Personality Rayne tends to be rather kind and understanding when she talks to people. She tries to treat them all the same though she doesn't always do so. She can be emotional sometimes even jump to some conclusions about things. She can also be sly, and down right vicious. Many say that she has two sides to her. The one with the constant smiling face that accompanies the kind, gentle, patient, understanding side of her, that seems to be most associated with that of a mother. Though the other side of her can be sly, vindictive, even manipulative but that side is rarely seen or known about, only a select few have seen the side that she hides from the world.

Mortal Alignment Neutral – Sometimes the side you think is in the right is actually in the wrong.

Motivation What more motivation does she need other then to see how things play out?

Fear(s) She fears that one day her ability could fail her and that it could end up getting her killed.

Likes She likes having her friends visiting and being able to cook for them. She enjoys the forest that The Forest Guardian resides at, as it reminds her of the past and is quit peaceful in nature. She enjoys wasting her time away be it cooking for various people or reading or drawing during the day. Occasionally you could catch her singing.

Dislikes She dislikes being touched. Touching her will cause you more then likely to either lose a finger or get the finger broken. She also dislikes not having any food in her home.

Strengths

Keeps secrets rather well, considering she knows things about people that they don't even want others to know about.
Is quick on her feet and with her mind in situations.
Is easily protects her friends even if they do not need it, being that she can see the future, she tries to save them from their fate in her visions when it it involves them even though she just makes it worse.

Weaknesses

Can be quick to upset which is not something you want to do unless you want you secrets let out.
She can't always control when she can see the future or the past and when she does it tends to leave her a bit paralyzed for a few minutes where she won't be able to see anything right in front of her.
Has a bit of OCD to the point that she can not stand having any little thing out of place.

SPIRITUAL

Faith & Morals Rayne believes the all religions worship one god/goddess. That all the gods and goddesses they pray to are all one and the same. That the only depict the god/goddess as a different one, with a different name but all in all it is just the same one over and over. For she calls her god/goddess Nyx and prays to her often. She does not fault anyone for their religion as she believes they are all the same. As for her morals, she knows right from wrong but she also knows that either side can be in the wrong and the one that is in the right can need a little push in the proper direction.
Virtues Kindness & Patience - She is patient for the fact that being who she is she needs to be able to wait for them to come out with telling her what they need or want from her. She is kind as it tends to get people to talk to her and willingly open up so that they will tell her things that they would never tell anyone else.
Sins Gluttony - she loves to eat, what more is there to say?

Though most of the time you can catch her always wearing some form of a corset, she also some chains that she rarely takes off. When she is called to the palace you can find her wearing a dress. She normally wears either a white chemise shirt or a black chemise shirt one under the corsets as not to upset some people with her lack of clothes. She likes the corsets that are normally worn with dresses for the fact that each one is unique and tend to be more detailed then the dress it self. They are one of the few items that she can't really seem to live without since they help people remember her a bit more, well besides her armor. She mainly only wears one that has leather feathers. You could almost say that she has a thing for corsets.
Arms/Legs Though her gauntlets are similar. She can be seen wearing a skirt some times. Though she mainly wears leather pants with her outfits more then the skirt which she only wears with one corset. You can often find her wearing knee high boots. Though some times she wears some boots that are more around her ankles then her knees. You can also find her signature belt around her waist along with another that is a bag that hangs at a slight angle and sits on her thigh.

WEAPONRY & EQUIPMENT

Bow and Arrows This weapon allows her to stay a safe distance away from the battle but still be able to hit targets if she needs too. It also allows her to hunt with no issues of scaring her prey away though she has to be careful after all she does not want to offend her friends.
Daggers She has several of them hidden on her person, seeing as you can always end up losing one when forced into close combat, also hand for other things.
Magic Clairvoyance: can be divided into two sections retrocognition and precognition. Retrocognition is knowledge of a past event which can not have been learned or inferred by normal means. Precognition is knowledge of a future event that has yet to happen which can not have been learned or inferred by normal means. COMBAT ABILITY

Rating System
[Perfect] - [Excellent] - [Above Average] - [Average] - [Below Average] - [Poor] - [Terrible] - [No Skill]

Hand-to-hand [Above Average] -- Her skill is above average for the fact that she dislikes being touch and would much rather break one of you fingers, it is also so she could defend herself.
Melee [Average] -- Being as she has daggers, her skill is average as she just knows enough to stab or cut someone in the heat of the moment so that she could get away.
Ranged [Above Average] -- She is fairly good with a bow since she hunts for her meat, she can also throw her daggers when she runs out of arrows if she needs to but she does not always hit her target.
Magic [Above Average] -- seeing as her gift is magic, it is more to supply the answer that most seek rather then to fight with though it can help her to stay at least one step a head of her enemy though not all the time.
Mounted [No Skill] -- Seeing as she has never been on a horse in her life, she never had to fight from horse back or ride one.

BACKGROUND

Kingdom Affiliation No affiliation to either kingdoms
Marital Status Single
Occupation Seer/Priestess
History Rayne hails from the kingdom of Neive, though not much is known of it except for what was said about it from her mouth. Being a seer is not a cake walk as most people would think it is for the fact that she has always been able to see things that others have not. Her gifts were never looked upon with favor, in fact she caught hell be cause of it for the first portion of her life. The thing that has always stuck with her is the fact that her family had always feared her to the point that when she was just a tot they left her on the steps of a temple to be finally rid of the cursed child that they could not seem to be able to lie to no matter how hard they tried. As she grew up in the temple she learned to keep her visions to her self as others did not understand. Other then the fact that the elders would whip her and lock her up in a chamber for a few nights before she was able to be free once more. They taught her that her gift was a curse and should be treated as such no matter how much she believe the Goddess had given her this gift for a reason.

One day when she was just 9 she had a vision of the king being in danger. She had gone to anyone who would listen in the palace to tell them but none believed her until the day that her vision came true. They blamed her for it, saying that she was the reason for the King being poisoned, that she had planned it from the start. She did not understand that they saw it as her trying to get a reward for saving the king and when not being believed or rewarded that she had poisoned him. This brought tears to her eyes as they literally hunted her down, wanting her head on a pike for all to see what happens to a conniving traitor.

When she learned they were coming for her head, she ran. While running she headed into the forest, getting lost among the trees before she was found by twin centaurs. Never having come across such people before, she was frighten of them, shaking where she stood as she was frozen to the spot. It was not until they touched her that she realized their intentions which quickly put her at ease. She willing went with them, softly explaining to them why she was in the forest to begin with and why she had gotten lost.

She did not expect to be welcomed into their home with open arms and it ws not long before they discovered her gift which she had tried to hide as she feared they would want her head like her home kingdom had. Soon she learned that they embraced it which made her embrace it, she learned many of her fighting skills from them but others that she had learned well she learned that from a different man.

A shape shifter, she vaguely remembered meeting him the first couple of times but this last time, well he left a lasting impression on her. Her centaur friends did not like him to well but still she considered him a friend even if he never really showed his true self to her and only visited when he felt like it. As she became and adult she left the centaurs to live on her own in a house that they helped her to build with the forest to one side and the mountains to the other that way she could be near her friends but have some privacy.

Memorable Notes:

- Maybe the reason Ara'mis went to visit Rayne is because Fiaria went missing. She hasn't been back to her home in over a month so Ara'mis is just curious if she's still alive?

---------- Post added 12-10-2014 at 03:10 PM ----------

Ara'mis sighed to himself as he approached the seer's home, wiping his blade clean in the process. He tried to ignore the nagging sense of ... what was it, worry? that he felt in the back of his mind.

Curiosity. He wasn't worried. Of course not. It was mere curiosity. And what kind of mere curiosity leads a man to travel through a forest and two cities? Ara'mis scoffed at himself quietly, tucking his dagger away. The trail of ash that followed drifted into the fading light. It didn't matter why he'd come. He'd arrived, and that was true.

He approached Rayne's door quietly, and for once he considered knocking. Instead, he rolled his eyes and slipped around to the closest window. Locked or not, he knew how to get it open. He was inside moments later, his stealth keeping him hidden. It was warm, and smelled (as always) of something sweet. Ara'mis ignored the second nagging feeling - hunger.

In silence, he moved through the seer's home until he reached his usual place - a chair in her living area. Ara'mis sat, waiting. She usually found him here. If she'd seen him coming, then she'd know where to look. If she hadn't, well ... that would be odd, but she'd still stumble upon him while walking by.

The assassin's pale green eyes flickered over various belongings in the room, settling on the table that rested between his chair and another. He'd only been here ... well, twice. Not very often, really. It seemed so comfortable, even though he refused to trust the seer and her unlimited knowledge of secrets and intention.

In silence, Ara'mis let his gaze linger on the other chair. Perhaps the seer would find him. If not, perhaps he would convince himself to leave. It was just mere curiosity, after all. Not worry. No. Of course not.

***The past month***
After a very emotional visit to Rayne Fiaria decided it was finally time to take a journey that she had been putting off for over fifteen years. It was time to return to her frozen homeland. There were things she had left unsettled there and with the new confusion she felt she needed a peaceful place to think and reflect. In the morning fog she left, not leaving a trace that she had ever been to visit the seer.

A couple days later Fiaria found herself trudging through the mountain snow heading towards where her clan’s village once stood. The wind howled, causing snow to swirl around her and the hood of her cloak to fall. The cold chill it offered was a welcomed feeling. This cold, this isolation, this mountain it was her true home. The place she had been raised, away from humans and the cruelty of the outside world. This place had once been a peaceful and safe place. All of that was a dream now, a memory from the innocence she lost long ago.

It really didn’t hit her about the fact that she was back home. That she was in the territory that once belonged to the Ice Claw Clan until she spotted a sword planted in the frozen ground. “Alemi,” the woman whispered as she rushed forward only to drop to her knees beside the sword. Tears welled in her icy eyes. “I’ve missed you my dear friend. I hope you and the others are doing well in the next life.” She let herself cry a bit before wiping away her tears. “We probably won’t meet there, not after everything I have done.” She smiled weakly before rising to her feet. Digging through her bag she pulled out her circlet placing it on her head. “It’s all I have left of our home.”

Moving on she entered the ruins of the village that once stood in this forest. Everything brought back both good and bad memories. Unfortunately the most vivid weren’t the happy ones. Instead they were of the day that changed her life forever. At one point as she stood in the middle of the eerily silent ruins she could have sworn she heard blood curdling screams from that day ringing through the trees. At first Fiaria questioned herself as to why she had returned to this place? There was nothing left, but rubble, bones and graves. Again the wind picked up howling through the trees. It was growing dark and she needed to take shelter. She took one last look around before saying a prayer and leaving. The path she took was one she was familiar with. It led to the cave in which she had taken refuge to finish healing and regain her strength after the attack.

The cavern was just as untouched and beautiful as it had been back then. She made herself at home. This was the place she could find peace at, where she could clear her mind and sort out her confusion. Over the course of the next three weeks Fiaria lived within the lower chamber of the cavern. From time to time she would venture out to hunt, gather rare herbs and spices that grew on the mountain, pay a visit to her fallen kinsman or to wander what was once her home. While she spent time alone she came to realize a few things. Rayne had been right. The answers she wanted weren’t going to be easily gotten and she couldn’t always take things a face value. Her anger was justified, but she still needed to remember what was important. Now more than ever she had to consider what was best for others as well as herself.

Before leaving to make her journey back she gathered ice crystals from the cavern, placing them in a large sack. Some of these she would give to Rayne along with herbs and spices as a thank you and payment. The rest she would use for various things. If she infused them with some of her own magic then they could fetch a nice price.

Kilia 12-11-2014 09:18 PM

The cabin sat nestled between the Centaur's forest and near the base of the mountain. Even a lake could be seen a decent distance away, though most of the cabin looked as if it was there for a while, one could tell that a new room had been add onto. Out back behind it was a smaller cabin that had also recently been built, which was where the Seer was at now.

She came out of the smaller cabin, looking around at her gardens as she smiled, even at the now worn training grounds that had been added in a month ago. A fond look was upon her face as she thought about the past month, shaking her head slightly before she headed into the main house with a basket of dirty linens. She had plans to gather the rest of them, and have them all washed and drying before her housemates came home.

She had also anticipated having Ara'mis to show up, having left him a plate of pot roast, mashed potatoes, cornbread and a mug of Ale. It all sat on the table in front of his usual chair, steam rolling off of it as it waited for him. The rest of her main house was like an open book. The living room had a fireplace at one end, a couple of over stuffed chairs, two end tables, a coffee table and an overstuffed couch.

There was a nook at one end that had dark curtains to help cut it off from the rest of the home. This is where she normally worked at, seeing as there was a round table with a dark purple cloth, lining the edge of it where the phases of the moon. Sitting in the center of it was a crystal bowl. Tucked in the corner of the nook was a chopping block that had various knives hanging above it and two buckets sitting beneath, one clearly used for blood.

Next to the nook was a door, this clearly lead into a bedroom, the door next to it lead into the cellar/pantry. On the opposite was was another nook that was a dinning room, next to it was a new door that had an S on it, this to was a bedroom, the door next to it lead to the bathroom. Now from the living room you could see straight into the kitchen where the counters were lined with various fruits, and breads. Herbs and spices hung from the ceiling along with some dried meats.

As Rayne moved about, collecting dirty clothes and sheets, she continued to pass by Ara'mis. At first it seemed as if she did not know he was there, but then it became clear that she was giving him time to just relax and eat a hot meal without any interruptions. Moments passed by before she finally took her usual seat across from him, a smile on her face, a real smile on her face. She had a guess as to why he was there, but she would allow him to tell her first. At the thought of the female Katayan, she couldn't help but smile even more, hoping that she had found the necklace she stashed into her bag.

"Ara, it is so good to see you again."
her words were genuinely happy as she spoke to him, she even looked far less tired then she normally did.

Esmme 12-12-2014 08:37 AM

Before Rayne entered, Ara'mis let his gaze linger on the food she'd left for him. She'd seen him coming, of course. The assassin smiled grimly at the thought of whatever supernatural powers the girl might have. At least it meant he wouldn't starve or be forced to dig through her pantry for food. As he sat, the male finally gave in. Fine. He'd eat dinner. How many times had she tried to get him to ease up and just eat?

His relaxation began with a customary checking for poison, though he didn't suspect he'd find any. It wasn't that he trusted Rayne, but more that he knew she wasn't the sort to try to kill him like that. Well. Maybe. Ara'mis' mind moved over their past meetings, few of them similar to where he was now. When Rayne entered the room, he eyed her appreciatively. She was practically glowing with ... something.

Ara'mis raised an eyebrow as she let him be, continuing on with her work. Strange, how busy she was. Even more strange was how she gave him no attention. The assassin slowly realized it for what it was, and lifted the mug of ale to his lips. He was well into his meal when Rayne finally sat across from him.

Instead of responding to her greeting, he blinked slowly. "You've changed things." Ara'mis glanced out the window, gesturing to what he could see of the other additions. "Do you expect permanent company, seer?" With those words, he smirked slightly, leaning back in his chair to finish off a large portion of the ale. He could have sworn she'd gotten this kind just for him - it was the best kind this side of the kingdom. Did she even drink it?

Ara'mis didn't miss her smiles, nor her energy. This was ... different. What was so different? Or, more like why were things so different?

((Aw, I read that Fiaria post while I was waiting for a friend. D: D: D: My gosh, so sad.))

Kilia 12-13-2014 02:59 AM

(I would post for Levia but that would give away a lot of stuff to soon lol sorry bbr *nuzzles*)

"yes, I have learned that I did not have enough room for guests." rayne said to him as she looked around her home, chuckling to herself and was rather proud of how it looked in comparison to it's previous state. "I actually have family living with me. Temporary of course. So I added a small one room cabin out back for those who do not wish to stay in here. You know you could stay the night in it if you want. No one will bother you there." she said to him before glancing at the sun dial that was outside of the window, she frowned slightly, knowing that several people were late, like Fiaria and her house companions. "I hope you enjoyed your meal. I used my best ingredients for it since this is a rather special day." she said with a larger smile upon her face, and no she would never put poison in food, after all it was considered insulting to the cook in her opinion.

blueblackrose 12-13-2014 03:40 AM

((It is sad, the poor dear, but this journey was good for her I think.

That's alright Kilia. Don't want to reveal too much just yet.))

In some ways the Fiaria hated to say goodbye to the cavern she had called home more than once in her lifetime. There was a large smile on her face as she exited the cave, her hand holding tightly to the pendant on the necklace in which Rayne had placed into her bag. It had helped to give her courage and to ease her mind. As long as she knew the person with its twin was safe there was less for her to worry about. Shrugging her bag over her shoulder she headed back to the village ruins.

Stopping in the middle of the ruins she stood there taking a last look around before approaching her parent’s grave. “I know that I’m nothing like the woman you wanted me to become. I have lived my life and survived the best way I knew how while filled with hate and anger. The choices I made were my own, but this is the life I have chosen. Really I didn’t think that I could find love or happiness again after I lost you all. I have found some important people along the way. I wouldn’t change anything as the Blaze Clan has shown their true colors to me. I will do what I have to do to live and to protect those who are important to me and I will regret nothing.” There was a serene calm that surrounded her. She was more at peace with who she was and the way she lived her life than she had been before.

After saying another prayer the woman left the ruins, making one last visit to her bodyguard, best friend and first love’s grave. “I know you wouldn’t have approved of many of the things that I did, but I also know you’d be proud of the woman that I have become. Keep watching over me and those important to me. Goodbye my dear friend.” Fiaira sighed and turned before she found herself unable to leave. Once again she offered a prayer to the gods.

With her business finished here the woman began her long journey back to where it had begun. As promised she would return to those waiting for her in the world of the living. For some reason it seemed the travel back was taking longer than the travel to her home which seemed to be frozen in time.

Looking up at the darkening sky she let out a heavy sigh. The earliest she would reach Rayne’s home would be well after dark, nearly midnight, much later than she had intended. Her stomach protested, telling her to rest and eat. Something she hadn’t done in two days. Not because she didn’t have the supplies, but because the snow storm on the mountain had put her behind schedule.

((I’ll let Fiaria arrive in my next post. Also let me know when you want me to bring in Rayne’s housemates.))

Kilia 12-16-2014 02:43 AM

(The next post is fine with me lol)

Rayne let the silence roll over them, enjoying the peace and quit before her companions come home. She chuckled to her self, liking the fact that her home was more picky and full of energy, granted her kitchen had far less food then before but her stores in the cellar were plenty stocked. She looked towards the door, awaiting for Fiaria to show up along with Yuuta and Shiro.

Time seemed to tick away as Ara'mis seemed to be trying to get his thoughts together so that he could ask her what he really wanted to know. she moved to finish washing the laundry, hanging them out to dry before folding what was already clean. Only to stop when there was a knock at the door. She seemed to skip to it, opening it up. There was a grin on her face as she looked at the wild haired centaur that stood before her. "Levia !" she exclaimed before hugging her, she carried on a hushed conversation with her before hugging her once more, waving bye behind her as she awaited for someone to come inside.

Esmme 12-16-2014 02:56 AM

"I don't intend on staying." The assassin never did. He didn't stay there overnight, and rarely stuck around for more than a few hours at most. That, of course, was when he heard what Rayne had said. It caught his attention. Ara'mis set down the empty mug, raising his eyebrows. "Family?" He frowned and tried to recall any "family" that didn't consist of centaur. He really wasn't fond of the beasts....

He noticed how the seer looked outside, seeming to be expecting someone. Perhaps it was time to go. Ara'mis hadn't known there would be so many people in one place. By the time he spoke, Rayne had stood and was moving around. Had it really been so long since he'd said anything? Strange, how time seemed to pass differently here. "The food was ... good." His eyes narrowed as he heard Rayne speak - it was a special day, hm? "Why is it so special, seer?"

Ara'mis set aside the empty bowl, sufficiently full by the time Rayne stood and went to the door. The assassin wrinkled his nose immediately, his non-human nose picking up on a familiar scent. Centaur. And something else. Ara'mis' reflective eyes narrowed, and he slowly stood. He shouldn't be here. He should just satisfy his curiosity about Fiaria and leave. Backing toward one of the windows, Ara'mis frowned. He wasn't fond of people, obviously. He wasn't fond of much. Still ... it felt, what, disingenuous? Cruel? to leave without saying something to Rayne. Besides, his curiosity would keep him awake until he had his answer.

"I'm sure you know why I'm here, don't you?" He scowled, and crossed his arms over his chest, pulling the gray hood over his features. The cowl hid most of his face, as it usually did. Ara'mis continued waiting for Rayne's answer, wishing to just leave.

blueblackrose 12-16-2014 05:04 AM

The young Katayan waved bye to Levia before rushing in and giving Rayne a big hug. His white tiger tail swayed happily behind him. “We’re home Auntie Luna! Is she here yet? I really hope that she is! She said she’d be back in a month and it’s been a month. I’ve missed her so much!” Shiro was still a ball of energy at least until he noticed the presence of someone else in the house. He let go of the seer, his ears twitching lightly. The presence was unfamiliar and dark. His tail shook nervously as he glanced around. When the stranger spoke his emerald eyes flickered with curiosity. “Who’s that?”

Yuuta was the next to enter, chuckling lightly at the boy. “You need to calm down Sh…” As soon as the older white tiger Katayan stepped into the room he froze in place. He knew immediately they weren’t alone. His body grew tense as he moved to stand between Ara'mis, who was on the other side of the room and Shiro and Rayne. It was clear he was acting protective of his family. “It seems that you have a guest. Maybe we should go to the cottage for a bit while we wait for our guest.” The man glanced back at Rayne. He really was hoping that Fiaria would be here when they returned. He was a little disappointed that there was a strange man here instead.

Fiaria smiled as she entered the Centaur forest. She was almost there, finally. Silently she moved through the trees towards the home of the seer. As promised she will have returned within a month’s time. While she made her way she noted the presence of a couple centaurs close by as well as more than just Shiro and Rayne at her home. Curious she tilted her head to the side. She hadn’t expected there to be others visiting the woman. Maybe she should have camped outside of the forest and waited until morning? Really the thought of dealing with other people didn’t appeal to her. All she wanted was to see Shiro and Rayne right now.

Making her way into the clearing she gave a slight nod of acknowledgement to Levia as they passed each other. Just inside the clearing Fiaria looked puzzled at the small cottage that had been added. It seemed that maybe Rayne was planning something or possibly taken someone else in? The woman hesitated to move forward. Was she really prepared for this? “Calm yourself Fia. You’re here and they will be happy to see you again. You’re reunion might just have to wait a bit.” The words were easily lost to the wind as she barely spoke them. She stood there for a long while just watching the house as it sat there in the middle of the darkness before her.

"You are staying." Rayne said with a finality that left no room for argument. Though she was still smiling, she started to hum to herself. Cleaning up his dishes before she set the dining room table for three, she being to excited to eat herself. She knew what was going to happen, we'll just a bit as she had not touched Yuuta very much. She did not want to get to know him how she had everyone else, besides she wanted to be surprise and to have genuine reactions to the things she learned of Yuuta.

"I am glad to hear that. I had some help making it." she said to him, which was true, Shiro had helped her. It was fun to teach him how to cook and using the animals he caught for their meals. Teaching him how to take care of himself and letting him brush up on his hunting skills. "it is very special. For you, me, Fiaria, and my housemates." the words she spoke were filled with excitement, it was clear that she had been waiting for this for the whole month.

Rayne laughed as she hugged the young boy, nuzzling his head before kissing it, her eyes landing on Yuuta. A blush gracing her features before she cleared her throat, turning her attention back to Ara'mis. "of course I know. I feel a bit Insulted that you even have to ask. Now have a seat!" she said to the assassin as she moved over towards him, taking his arm as she dragged him back to his usual seat. The smile on her face and the underlying threat to her words had left no room for him to protest, it also let him know that it was not a choice. Forcing him to sit down once more before tugging his cowl off.

"This is....Ara'mis. He is my brother. He isn't used to being around so many people so please for give him." she said gently to them, patting Shiro's head once more

"Ah no!! Stay here...after all we all are waiting for the same perso ." her words were a bit distress as her eyes watered a bit, she grabbed the Katayan's hand as she pulled him to sit on the couch, trying to keep them there and ease the tension in the room. she looked between the men in her home, fidgeting a bit as she thought on how to get Fiaria to enter her home, the. Something clicked in her mind. "Shiro, please do me a favor." she said to him with a sly smile on her face, leaning close to him as she moved to whisper into his ear, telling him to freeze the windows and doors close, except for the front door and to also take his necklace off.

She knew that it as a mean and dirty trick but she didn't want Ara'mis to leave to soon but also wanted to draw Fiaria to come inside. The female should have know. That if it was a big deal that others besides her and Shiro being in her home was a danger to them and Fiaria that she would have had her come a day later or earlier. She would not do something that was not required or meant to happen. She knew Levia would see Fiaria, and mention that she should go inside but there was no garauntee that Fiaria would do as suggested.

Shiro purred at Rayne’s nuzzling. The boy perked up a bit when Rayne said it was a special day for all of them. He watched the three and could feel the tension rising. That was until Rayne forced both Ara’mis and Yuuta to take a seat and assured them that everything was fine. Also that Fiaria would be here soon. “Alright Auntie Luna.” As the seer whispered in his ear he grinned. With a nod he concentrated on the task that she wanted him to do.

Slowly the windows and door, expect for the front door froze over. The light sound of ice crackling could be heard as it spread sealing all of the exits except the front door. With that complete the boy moved on the next part of the woman’s plan to lure in Fiaria. The thought of playing a trick on the Katayan woman excited him more. He took off the necklace that was around his neck. Looking up at Rayne he whispered. “Do you really think this will work?”

Yuuta stored away the name of the man whom the seer had forced to take a seat and told he would be staying. With the woman’s assurance that things were fine he gave her a smile. He let her lead him to the couch. Before taking a seat he nuzzled her cheek slightly before whispering very quietly in her ear to keep the assassin from hearing. “What kind of business does a mongrel like him have with Fiaria?” It was clear that the older Katayan had picked up on the fact that Ara’mis wasn’t fully human, though the Katayan blood the man held was very thin. It was also apparent that he wasn’t sure if he should trust this stranger, but as long as Rayne said it was ok he would be good. He didn’t get his answer before he took his seat and the woman moved on to ask the younger male to do her a favor.

The male’s eyes moved over Ara’mis, taking in his features. Most notably the man’s green eyes. Something about them was familiar, but he couldn’t put together why. Shifting in his seat his indigo eyes moved to Shiro. It seemed the boy was freezing over the windows and doors. Looks like no one would be leaving any time soon. This caused him to frown. Oh how he hoped that Fiaria would be there soon. At least then maybe things would become less awkward and the tension would ease. Something told him that it was going to be a long night.

When Levia paused to speak to her Fiaria blinked as she looked over at the female Centaur. She gave the other woman a smile. “I will go in soon.” Was her response and she had to stop herself from trying to explain her hesitation to Levia. Once the centaur left her icy eyes returned to gazing at the seer’s home. As soon as the windows and doors froze over a small growl came from her. Was something wrong? The woman could feel her body tense.

The presence of the four inside could still be felt, but the fact that the stone on her necklace had grown cold caused her to panic. Her body stiffened as she froze in place, her breath quickening. Shiro was the only thing on her mind at that point. Eyes wide, tears of rage and sadness in them she rushed forward. The woman burst through the front door, a dagger hidden within her hand. “Shiro,” was the only word that escaped her lips. The Katayan skidded to a stop as she was greeted with a tackle from the boy as he shouted, “Mother!” A look of bewilderment filled her features as she dropped the blade in her hand and fell to her knees hugging the boy tightly. Fiaria cried softly nuzzling the boy and kissing him.

“Shiro, my love. I’m glad you’re ok.” Her tear filled eyes moved to meet Rayne. She gave the woman a teasing growl, suspecting she had put her son up to this trick. “Please don’t scare me like that ok.” The words were gentle and filled with love as she purred, holding to him tightly. When she finally let go she raised to her feet. That is when she took noticed to who else was within the room. Her body stiffened at the sight of both of the males. The male Katayan looked slightly familiar, but she couldn’t place him. Ara’mis he was the one that her eyes stayed on though. Her chest tightened, she hadn’t prepared to face the assassin just yet. This had to be Rayne’s doing. Could she face him? Could she say the things she needed to? Really what choice did she have? Of all places for him to be at he was here and he had already heard more than she wished for him to. This isn’t how she planned their next meeting going or even her return to the seer’s home after her journey. Fiaria’s gaze drifted back to Rayne, a glimpse of fear and worry in them.

Hearing the bang of the front door Yuuta felt himself jump slightly. Oh how he hated loud sounds. His eyes widened at the woman who had enter the room. It was her. It really was Fiaria. “Sister,” the words were whispered as he stared in disbelief. Tears trailed from his eyes as he was overcome with joy. She was alive and really here. He had missed her so much that this was starting to feel like a dream. There was a big smile on his face as more tears filled his eyes. This was indeed a special day.

Ara'mis stared at the two Katayan who entered, his movements becoming more fluid. It meant he was ready for a fight ... not to mention the fact that plenty of blades were within reach. His attention skipped over Shiro. The child wasn't labeled as a threat. Yuuta, though ....

There was something vaguely familiar about him, though Ara'mis knew for a fact he'd never seen Yuuta before in his life. He'd seen very few Katayan, and that span included Fiaria and precious few others. Ara'mis' green eyes flickered over the other male, taking in his attire and form as though marking his means of combat. He stepped between Ara'mis and the others - ah, a protective one. Of course.

The action caused Ara'mis to tilt his head slightly, as though provoked by the sudden desire to see just how useful Yuuta's protection could be. He wasn't able to test it, luckily, when Rayne demanded that he sit down. He (for once) didn't shrug off the seer's hand, and was swiftly seated in his usual chair. Ara'mis scowled when his hood was tugged away from him, but seemed to be a little too on edge to care about that simple action. Everything about him screamed of being uncomfortable. He should just leave. In fact, he would. This was ... too much. There was no need to be around these people.

Of course, that was when he was introduced. Ara'mis' gaze narrowed, and a strange feeling rose up within him at being called Rayne's brother. Brother. The assassin felt a mixture of white-hot rage and disgust flare through him, though the expression was well hidden beneath his usual neutral look. He blinked slowly as Rayne pulled Yuuta to sit down as well.

Oh, no. He wasn't doing this. Ara'mis looked up at Rayne, trying to contain his mixture of irritation and unease. He didn't feel threatened, exactly. This was certainly something else, he just wasn't sure what. Ara'mis must have taken too long to gather his thoughts. The sound of crackling ice as it formed over the available exits was all too audible.

Threat flashed over Ara'mis' features, and he sent a painfully dark glare to Rayne. "Damn you," he hissed under his breath, shifting in his seat. It was odd to see how easily Rayne accepted the company of these Katayan, and even more strange to see her nuzzling Yuuta. Ara'mis caught Yuuta's gaze around the time he mentioned "mongrel," but he hadn't heard. He was more focused on how Shiro had frozen things over....

It seemed like hours later, but in reality it was seconds. The door burst open, revealing the one person they were all waiting for. Fiaria. She was alright. A brief moment of relief struck him ... or maybe it was just the feeling of finally easing his curiosity. It had grown painful not knowing where Fiaria was.

Then it struck him. Ara'mis' feral expression faded instantly. Mother? He held gazes with Fiaria, looking for all the world like (as Rayne had once referred to him as) an unhappy cat that wanted to slip away. He didn't miss the fear and worry in Fiaria's gaze, however. This must have been odd for her. This was odd for all of them. It was, by far, the most uncomfortable situation he'd been in since ... well, in many years.

Ara'mis blinked and looked to Yuuta - Fiaria's brother, from the sound of it - and frowned. This ... was ... what? The assassin shifted uncomfortably, feeling like he was intruding on someone else's family reunion. Why had Rayne kept him here? All she had to do was tell him that Fiaria was fine, or let him hang around long enough to see a glimpse of her. But keeping him here? All the exits were sealed. He was trapped. And, being who he was, Ara'mis was keenly feeling it. It was like being stuck in a glass box full of people he didn't need to know.

Crying. Yuuta was crying. There was so much emotion on Fiaria's face. The child....

Ara'mis rubbed a hand over his face letting out a slow breath. Skies, why am I here? He had to pick that day to check in, hadn't he?

Rayne smiled as she laughed in delight, this was perfect and so very mysterious. Her bright blue, soul piercing eyes glittered with excitement. She watched as the windows and doors froze over, trapping the assassin inside with them. "Wonderful! You have gotten very skilled with your gifts, Shiro! she praised the boy, clapping her hands in encouragement before kissing the top of his head once more. "It will work, trust me." her gentle voice was reassuring as she stroke his head, watching the men more then the front door.

Rayne blushed furiously at Yuuta nuzzling her, clearing her throat as she tried to act as if everything was fine. She did not answer his question on Ara'mis seeing as that was something that will be revealed shortly. For now she would let him ponder on his question and draw his own conclusions. She wanted so badly to just blurt everything out and watch their reactions but it was better comeing from Fairia then her.

She filled up Ara'mis' cup full of his favorite ale once more as she placed it in his hands. She then made sure the table was ready for the Katayans to have a meal together. She made sure the older green eyed male ate before the others since she knew he was rather uncomfortable being that vulnerable around so many people.

She grinned like the Cheshire cat, watching as Fiaria burst through her front door, it soon softened as Shiro hugged the female. She shrugged her shoulders, giving Fiaria an innocent look as if she was saying she had nothing to do with it. "We would not have had to do that if you had not been lurking outside." she said to her with a teasing smile, laughing as she moved to pull them both into her home, closing the door behind them. She motioned for Shiro to do the same with the front door for now, making sure that none were leaving at the first chance.

"Don't give me that look, Fiaria. Even I can not control the fates, I can only help with guidance." Rayne said with a frown in her face, she had honestly not planed this to happen, it just ended up that way. That is why the day was special because it was innevertble, and was going to happen weather they wanted it to or not. Her eyes landed on Yuuta, a feeling of happiness welling up inside of her, she knew how much this moment meant to him, seeing as he been trying to find her for anger long time.

Rayne knew how Ara'mis was feeling, knew that the word brother weighed heavily on him. When she had said the word it carried a heavy weight with it but full of love. For she did love him like a brother and she had just let him know that for the first time ever. She could see the response of flight on his face and the fact he was relieved at seeing, Fiaria safe and sound.

"Shiro, Fiaria, and Yuuta. Go and eat and we can all talk while you do so. So please have a seat and be civil." she said to them with a smile on her face, her eyes closed slightly. Sure the look came across as a happy and gentle one but it also hinted at the hidden danger that lay beneath. Allowing them to get a hint of a side to the seer that she normally kept hidden or did not use get often. It was far scarier then if she out right yelled, or got angry or if she had just gone postal on them all.

Shiro purred loudly, nuzzling his mother in return. He was so glad that she was back. “Ok, I’ll be a good. But I’ve missed you so much Mother.” Looking up at Fiaria he had a huge smile on his face. When she released him he gave Rayne a grin, happy that the trick worked. It didn’t take the boy, who was only around seven or eight, to take notice to the fact that his mother had grown stiff where she stood as she stared at Ara’mis. This caused him to tilt his head. After a few moments the boy tugged Fiaria’s arm. “What’s wrong?” There was a glimpse of worry with in the boys emerald eyes.

His attention was drawn away by Rayne giving him the signal to freeze over the front door so that no one could leave. With a nod the boy did as he had been told earlier. Once again the light sound of crackling ice could be heard and the last exit was sealed shut. Shiro looked rather proud of himself and the way he had controlled his powers. He never got the answer to his question, but it didn’t matter since according to Rayne they were going to have dinner. “Let’s go!” The cheerful boy hugged his mother again.

“I missed you too, my love.” She gave her son a warm smile, but it was brief. Fiaria sighed and gave Rayne a poor excuse for why she was lurking. “I was only resting for a moment. I’ve had a long journey.” Her gaze never left Ara’mis. She hadn’t missed his relief at seeing her, but he looked like he just wanted to run away. She couldn’t blame him. This was all so strange and overwhelming. In some ways she herself wanted to run away. It was so much easier to run or lie instead of being honest. It was Shiro’s tugging on her arm that snapped her out of the endless stare. "I know that Rayne, it’s just that this is so unexpected…” Her next words trailed off. It would have been so easy to try to provoke the assassin with her teasing, but right now wasn’t the time for such things.

“Shiro stop it. Rayne this isn’t fair.” Fiaria wasn’t happy that there was no way to escape. Whether she wanted to or even Ara’mis wanted to they were going to have to talk. At the seer’s words she sighed again, giving up for now. Things were finalized. They were going to have to all play nice. The woman hugged her son back and gave him a kiss on top of his head. It took a few moments for the name Rayne had given to the Katayan male to register with her. “Wait…Yuuta? Did you just say Yuuta? No, that’s not possible.” She shook her head furiously backing up until she was almost touching the frozen door. Her icy eyes staring at the male. How had she missed it? He looked somewhat like her little brother, except he was all grown up. “Yuuta died a long time ago, you can’t be him.” A flurry of emotion shifted through those icy orbs as they took in the man’s appearance even more. A few moments passed before she calmed herself. “Go cleanup for dinner, Hun,” the woman nudged her son to go on ahead. The boy did as he was told. Once Shiro moved out of the way Fiaria was greeted with a large hug.

“It is me Fia. My bodyguard got me out of the village safely and we made it to the Blaze Clan. They took me in.” Yuuta was so happy, but the woman tensed and tried to pull away from him when he mentioned the Blaze Clan.

A quiet growl and hiss came from her. “Then why are you here? You should be with them. They are no friend of mine and I will not have their influence near my son.” Her tone was harsh, but to be expected at least by Ara'mis. It was because they were hunting for her. It was because of their leader that Ara’mis had to save her life a little over a year ago. Fiaria held no love for Katayan’s who would do such things to their own kind. So far Rayne’s be civil with each other was being tested.

Yuuta backed away from the female Katayan, his ears drooping. “I…I...” Unable to find the words he hid the hurt look in his eyes as he turned to head to where dinner was waiting. “I’m sorry,” he whispered.

Esmme 12-18-2014 01:44 PM

A look of sheer disgust lingered on Ara'mis' face as he realized they were all completely frozen into the same house together. Talk about an ice box....

Ara'mis nearly pushed the cup of ale back into Rayne's hands, but she wouldn't let him. She was too enthused be be deterred that night. The assassin forced his emotions back, trying to keep himself from lashing out. That would be the worst course of action. They were, after all, stuck inside the same building until Rayne bid it worthy to release them. As great as a fight would be, Ara'mis had no desire to be in one. He was tired after his journey, and wasn't ready to face three opponents (and a kid with ice powers) - they were all family and friends, after all.

As Ara'mis held the cup in his hands, he couldn't bring himself to drink. Not yet. He continued meeting Fiaria's gaze for a while, knowing only that they were both surprised by her appearance and had no idea what was going on. Rayne had been brilliant to get Ara'mis to eat before the others - he would have foregone the meal otherwise. But ... sealing them all in? Ara'mis was more than uncomfortable.

The assassin continued to watch the others, the mug of ale in his hands untouched. Ara'mis narrowed his eyes at Rayne's veiled "threat" for everyone to stay civil. At this, a very vocal scoff came from his lips. At least he knew their names now. Shiro, Yuuta.

Before any of them got anywhere, however, Yuuta embraced his sister. Fiaria's response was one that Ara'mis expected. The moment Blaze Clan was mentioned, his eyebrows lifted in equal amounts of surprise and amusement. Really? Of course. How very dramatic. If Ara'mis had been the sort to ease tension instead of create it, he would have stepped up and patted Yuuta on the back and pulled him to the table. Instead, the assassin lifted the ale and drank deeply. Skies above. This is genuinely tragic, isn't it? His comments stayed in his mind, not leaving his lips.

Staying silent, Ara'mis felt a slight smile tug at his features. This was going to be an interesting night, whether any of them wanted it to be or not. His reflective eyes moved to Rayne, and he raised his eyebrows expectantly. She'd calm things down, and then get them on the right track of conversation. She was good at that.

blueblackrose 12-20-2014 07:14 AM

Doing as told Shiro went off to wash up for dinner. Hearing the adults still in the living room he headed on into the dining room taking his seat at the table. He grinned as he sniffed the air. The meal he had helped Rayne prepared smelled good, hopefully it tasted good too. Patiently the boy waited.

Yuuta fought the sadness and disappointment that he felt as he passed by Rayne and headed into the dining room. He didn’t understand Fiaria’s reaction. The seer had told him that Fiaria would be very happy to find out that he was alive and well. To be able to see him again. He let out a heavy sigh. Moving to the table he didn’t even notice his nephew already sitting there. Yes the man was sulking and pouting. He had had his hopes up, wanting to believe Rayne was right. In the end though it seemed that he was the one that was correct.

Taking a seat he let a few tears roll down his already dampened cheeks. The older male Katayan was starting to wish he hadn’t been such a fool. Yuuta shivered slightly as his thoughts went back to the accusing and almost murderous look that Fiaria had given him when she questioned why he was here. It made him shiver. “So much for a happy reunion,” the man mumbled to himself as he stared at the table before him.

Shiro watched his uncle. He had no clue what was going on. For some reason he really seemed to be upset and sad. Of course the older male did tend to be emotional and somewhat of a cry baby. Unsure what the man was mumbling about the boy gave him a smile. “Don’t worry, things will be ok. We are all back together now. Well with the exception of my father. Auntie Luna said that this was a special day.”

Kilia 12-21-2014 03:16 AM

Rayne's smile was strained a bit as she watched everyone interact. It was not until she saw that Fiaria had caused Yuuta to cry that she snapped, truely showing anger and rage which was unbefitting of the woman. She came off as scarier and deadlier then ever. "How dare you make, Yuuta cry! You have no right to do so when you know nothing about him as he knows nothing about you. He has gone through things you can't imagine just as he can not imagine the things you have gone through. He was raised to be the blaze clan pet!! Used an manipulated for what he was force to get engaged to Raja whom he doesn't even love! And because of her insane jealousy of him just looking at another woman he was forced to leave the only place he could call home! Yes the blaze clan is looking for you to force you become apart of them and lead their people and yes Raja may rather have your head on a spike before turning over the clan to you but that does not mean that your own baby brother wants that! All he wants is to start your own clan over! To build a family with his broken family once more and to start things a new. If he even wanted to turn you I to the Blaze clan he would have done it weeks ago when I told him where you were! He could have taken Shiro and me and they could have used me to find you and the rest of your clan and used Shiro as bait! You should be happy that he was finally able to break free from them! Besides if you should be mad at anyone it should be at Ara'mis since he has known for a long time that Yuuta and the blaze clan were looking for you! And you! You should be ashamed of your self! Letting your sister bully you after you told me that you would grow a pair! How is this becoming strong?! I told you she was feral and that things were going to be rough in the beginning! So stop giving Katayans a bad name and do them proud! As for the two of you, Ara'mis, And Fiaria,You better start being honest with each other or I promise you that you will not be seeing me or Shiro again because he does not deserve to be around people that can't voice how they truely feel! And for you, Yuuta, you need to stop showing so much emotions. A man that constantly cries is not sexy!" she didn't raise her voice, knowing they were used to such volume, no she kept her voice at room level and put all her anger into it that it be came menacing and the room seem to grow darker just from her temper. She truely was not someone who you would want to piss of, for it was clear that if she made a threat that she was going to keep it, no matter the cost. "and Ara'mis if you even think of doing that I will throw you in the lake!"

Esmme 12-21-2014 05:42 AM

Ara'mis stood and turned for the next room, not really wanting to be near these people. They weren't familiar. This was odd, and not at all comfortable. The assassin took a deep drink of his ale before reaching the next doorway. Yuuta. Yuuta. Ara'mis knew. He'd kept his expression of surprise genuine, but he knew. He'd known that Yuuta had been looking for Fiaria. He'd known for ... a long while. Ara'mis scowled into the hallway he faced, taking another hefty gulp of his drink.

Skies, this isn't the time for this. It was never the time for it.

Ara'mis was about to step farther down the hallway when Rayne began her tirade. A smile tugged at his lips. Rarely did she break. He'd never heard it before. The assassin paused, halfing his ale with the next drink. The Blaze clan. Ara'mis had known they were seeking Fiaria, too. Oh, he'd known. He'd ended one of their hunters ... and Fiaria hadn't known about that.

Disgust flit over his face when Rayne mentioned Yuuta breaking free of his clan. Likely, the boy was lying to get what he needed or wanted. That's how loyalties worked. Ara'mis leaned back against the wall, feeling the warmth from the second mug of ale blooming through his features. He took another vicious draw, another disgusted look on his face.

That, of course, was when Rayne mentioned his name. The assassin scoffed in disgust (loudly) before draining the last of his ale. Of course Fiaria should be mad at him. There were many reasons for it. He'd just about tuned Rayne out when his name was mentioned again.

"You have to do better than that, seer." The assassin bristled, and pushed himself away from the wall. Ara'mis scowled at the woman. "So many demands. They aren't yours to make." Be honest? Right. He was made of lies and deceit. It was difficult to tell where they stopped and the real Ara'mis began.

"The lake. Charming." Ara'mis tensed at the mention of the lake, then his eyes narrowed. Rayne knew that the assassin had knowledge of the Blaze clan and Yuuta without him saying a thing about them. Of course she would know of the little quirks that made him tick. Still ... he wasn't fond of magic. The seer's powers were no different - especially since Ara'mis valued his secrets and lies. His reflective gaze glared at Rayne from the hall until he let out a disgusted noise of malcontent.

Ara'mis glanced to Fiaria, though he'd made it a point to avoid looking at her throughout the whole conversation. How was she reacting to all this, exactly?

blueblackrose 12-21-2014 06:41 AM

The female Katayan watched as he brother went off sulking. She had only spoke the way she felt. Maybe if the timing had been different she wouldn’t have lashed out. There was little evidence on her face that she was upset that she made the younger man cry. Instead she seemed to be indifferent. In her mind though she wondered why he was crying. Really was he such a baby?

Surprisingly Fiaria didn’t flinch from Rayne. The woman was angrier and scarier than she had ever seen her before, but with how many brushes with death she had faced within the past, little fazed her anymore. In fact the Katayan bristled, growling lowly as she was lectured. It was hard for her to contain her own anger. Lashing out would have been so easy, but no Rayne was not like Ara’mis, this wasn’t a game like the ones that Ara’mis and her played to push each other further away. This was different.

“You’re right I can’t imagine what he’s been through and he can’t imagine what I have. I know little about him as we were separated long ago. That still doesn’t mean that I don’t have the right to voice how I feel!” There was fire within the woman’s eyes. Speaking honestly and doing her best not to yell. “I know well what the Blaze clan wants and I refuse to be used by them or let them anywhere near my son. You may be the seer, but how dare you tell him where I was. I only gave you permission to tell two people that information and he wasn’t one of them.”

Before continuing she took a breath, staring at Rayne. Her intentions weren’t to piss Rayne off further, but to be honest for a change. After all it would have been so easy to lie and pretend she was fine with everything, but she couldn’t bring herself to do so. “Like you would have let such a thing happen Rayne? Like your family would have let such a thing happen to you. I think not. As for building a family from the pieces of a broken one that is all well and good, but even if he is my younger brother I can’t allow myself to trust so easily. Family is something that I have longed for since I lost it, but it’s also something that comes with a high price. And is something that I’m not sure I can truly have or even deserve to.”

Fiaria seemed to calm a bit as she released some of the frustrations she had been keeping pent up, the hidden anger and emotions. “It is good that he got away from them. But they will hunt him now, just as they hunt me, especially if he is to be Raja’s husband.”

Momentarily her gaze turned to Ara’mis. She wasn’t too surprised that he had known about the Blaze clan being after her. What surprised her is that he knew that her brother was alive and well. She gave the male who was now trying to hide in the hallway one of her sickly sweet smiles that said she wanted to smack him. “And just how long were you going to keep that information from me my dear sweet Ara’mis?”

Hearing her name again she turned her attention back to Rayne. A sigh escaped from her lips. “There will be no need for you to disappear with Shiro. Though I had hoped to have more time than this.” Fiaria’s emotions shifted slightly from the rage she had been in to uneasiness, almost like she was still afraid to try to be honest with the assassin. Her conflicted gaze met Ara’mis. “Ara’mis it won’t kill us to be honest for once. Please just bear with it. You’re always curious and want to know more. As am I, but we need to put our fear aside for a change. After the things we’ve been through over the years, especially the past two.” Fiaria let out a sigh, closing her eyes a single tear trailed down her cheek. “I know now, more than ever I don’t want to have any regrets when it’s time for me to meet my fate. I don’t want to leave things left unsaid out of fear or because it’s just easier to pretend and lie. You deserve to know the truth, as do I.”

The woman shook her head slightly. She calmly made her way down the hall where Ara’mis stood. “I know you don’t want to do this. After this is over, whatever you decide to do is fine. Just please let me be honest with you and please be honest with me and yourself as well.” It was clear that she was struggling. Tentatively she reached her hand out to him, half expecting him to push it away or to tell her how stupid this all was. Fiaria knew this wasn’t going to be easy.

Yuuta peeked out from the dining room area as he heard Rayne getting after Fiaria for her harsh words and actions. He watched and listened. It was strange to see the woman this way. It was the first time he had ever seen the seer this angry or scary. To him it appeared that it didn’t faze Fiaria, but he was wrong what the seer said had stirred up things inside his sister. Silently he continued to watch. The way his older sister stood there talking back caused a renewal in his admiration for her. She had always been strong and honest. Even though the woman’s aura was much darker now then when they were kids that light she had always carried within was still there.

When Rayne spoke about Ara’mis having known he was alive and keeping it from Fiaria he gave the man a quite glare, but it was brief as he flinch when the seer finally called him out. His gaze moved to the floor. She reminded him of promises that he had made and intended to keep, but in the end failed miserably. “I…” There was no excuse. He hung his head in shame. At the shifting of the conversation he looked to Rayne once again, still wondering what the connection was between Fiaria and Ara’mis. It didn’t take him long to feel like he was intruding on a private matter which caused him to retreat to the table where Shiro was still sitting. The boy was doing his best to be patient and not let the things going on around him affect him.

At Fiaria's sickly sweet expression, the assassin's features became neutral. "As long as I wanted." Why hide the fact that Yuuta sought Fiaira? Perhaps it was because he was thwarting the Blaze clan's potential involvement, and because he wanted to feel out how Fiaria felt about her family before ever letting on that he knew. The thing was: Ara'mis wasn't exactly the type to just share about such things. So he figured he'd just keep the knowledge to himself, as he so often did.

Did that mean he cared for Fiaria's safety? More likely, he was just keeping her safe because he found her useful. He didn't care to help Yuuta. He hadn't cared at all.

The anger in Fiaria's eyes was fading, though, replaced by uncertainty. Ara'mis looked ready to just disappear - or, at least like he wanted to. This wasn't what he'd come for. Their little game wasn't meant to bare all truths. This wasn't part of their relationship - if one could call it that.

Ara'mis scowled the moment Fiaria mentioned being honest. His expression was dark, and he sent a particularly nasty glare to Rayne. The seer had known this would all happen. Ara'mis' movements were fluid as he stepped back from Fiaria. She was approaching him with her talk of honesty and their past. Regrets. Fear. Ara'mis' features contorted with irritation. "Shut up." He didn't miss that tear on her cheek. Nor did he miss the way Fiaria careful moved, as though she was sure she'd regret whatever she said.

He stopped moving, holding Fiaria's gaze for a moment. The woman's hand slowly reached to him. Ara'mis froze, becoming incredibly difficult to read (save for the fact that he was obviously not happy with the situation). Fiaria was struggling. This was a crucial point - a delicate one. Ara'mis saw this. His reaction, however, made it clear he wasn't so keen on these moments. She caught his slight flicker of curiosity in his eyes, and then it was overwhelmed with other emotions that blended together too swiftly to be identified.

The assassin easily slipped around Fiaria, not so much as touching her offered hand. He didn't accept it, he didn't push it away: he avoided it.

"Stop it."
His voice was strained, and when he sent a strangely pleading look to Rayne, the assassin raked a hand through his hair. "This won't end well, seer." Ara'mis moved as far away from Fiaria as he could without leaving the room, every movement reminiscent of his typical fight: all too graceful, like a cat prepared to lash out at any given moment. Though his expression remained neutral, it was clear through his gaze that this upset him. The seer caught the fear, the hatred, the disgust ... the last flicker of sorrow. When Ara'mis shot a glance back to Fiaria, he shook his head. "No. This isn't how the game works."

"of course your free to voice your feelings. I would never keep you from doing so, and you know that." Rayne spoke in a far gentler and less harsh of a voice as she took a step closer to Fiaria, she tried to keep her anger in check, having felt better at showing it for once. Though at her next words, her eyes twitched slightly as her anger flared back up. True she was only told to tell two people but Shiro and Yuuta both had a right to know in her opinion.

"Shiro and Yuuta deserved to know as they are you family. As for those two people, Ara'mis has come today to find out about your wear a outs and Damon has not come here at all in the past month! So for give me for telling him the truth!" she was barely able to keep her temper that time, and she didn't mention that for some reason she hadn't been able to keep the truth from Yuuta. Lord she had kept so very much from him and that had been a struggle.

"Fiaria, trust me. Believe in me. Just trust me." her words were on the verge of pleading as she moved up close and personal to the female Katayan, taking her hands as she looked at her with a soft and gentle look. "You know that I will protect your family as mine will protect us. If the Blaze clan even knew about me they would have come already. Shiro will not have anything to do with them but he deserves to have his uncle. If they do come here looking for Yuuta and you, then I have already prepared what I will tell them." she stroked Fiaria's head, smiling at her in a loving away before she hugged the woman close.

"So continue to trust me and know I do what I do for the best of you all. Even though it means you all will hate me and plan to go back to the north and start a new. Even if it means that Ara'mis will kill me....and the bounty on my head collected. After all who would not want to be a king?" she whispered the words to the female, she sounded happy and had a smile on her face, but on the inside she did not feel that way.

"I know." she let Fiaria go, allowing her to go and interact with Ara'mis whom she had not let escape her notice. She narrowed her bright blue eyes at him not missing his comments which made her smile at him in a way that said she could do better then that and she planned on it.

She watched the two closely, motioning for Shiro and Yuuta to go a head and eat before their meal got cold. Yes, she had known this was going to happen. She knew the looks they had on their faces, every emotion and word they would say and show. She was not going to stop things from unfolding, in fact she was poking, prodding, picking at it u too it unfolded and what needed to happen did so.

Her heart went out to Ara'mis as he pleaded with her, as he practically begged her with his eyes to end this, to let him free. He was acting like a trapped feral cat that they were trying to tame. She took a calming breathe before she moved towards him, not allowing him to escape or avoid her as he had done to Fiaria. She firmly grasped his face in both her hands. Holding it strong enough that he could not pull his face away or turn his head from her.

She took another deep breathe, before she opened her soul piercing bright blue eyes, looking deep into his green ones. She was not allowing him to break eye contact this time."I have seen every possible out come of this. It will end very well for all of us. I am not forcing you and Fiaria to talk openly about your feelings and the truth in front of us all. I have set up a nice cabin out back that you two may talk privately in. Now try to tell me you do not wish for this deep down inside. Look deep into my eyes and try to lie to yourself." she said to him in a calming voice, stroking his cheeks as she stared into his eyes, knowning fully well what it does to people when she and them stare straight into each other's eyes. That is why she never met anyone's gaze for more then mere seconds but this time it was different, this was one of the few ways she could get through to Ara'mis.

It seemed like a life time had passed before she let him go, moving to take a seat once more. "Fiaria please have a seat and eat. Ara'mis there is more ale in the kitchen." she said to them as she smoothed over everything as best as she could.

Fiaria had bared her frustrations. As they talked Rayne and she came to an understanding. They both just wanted what was best. It was going to take time for her to get over how she felt about her brother having been part of the Blaze clan. “I know Rayne. It’s just hard to believe and trust in others. If I didn’t think you would be able to keep my son safe I never would have allowed him to be brought here.” She returned the woman’s hug.

The woman shook her head. “Hate you? Go back to the frozen north? I don’t foresee them happening. Those are only possible futures if you have seen them. No path is set in stone, time is ever changing. Besides being a king is over rated.” The words were whispered back. She wasn’t sure why Rayne told her these things, but knew they must be important.

As she talked to Ara’mis she had basically cornered him. Her icy eyes took in his every move, every emotion that flitted in his green eyes or across his face. His words telling her to shut up and to stop they stabbed at her like the blade of a knife. He looked like a cat ready to lash out at her. Fiaria didn’t care. Let him lash out, at least if he did then maybe just maybe for once she would get some truth from him.

Ara’mis slipped away, avoiding her touch. His action caused her to close her eyes and hang her head almost as if she was ready to give up. After a moment she lifted her head and looked at him with her piercing icy blue eyes. There was a hint of anger in them. “Not how the game works? To Geval with how the game works! You and I both know well that one day we are BOTH going to lose the game that we play. I’m trying to…oh never mind.” Her eyes shifted to Rayne, the woman was moving to calm the assassin. “This was a bad idea.”

While she watched the seer a look of envy crossed her face. It felt so strange to see someone else calming him. It seemed like all he ever did to her anymore was push away or avoid her, so why had she hoped things would be different this time. “Thank you Rayne, but I’m not hungry. If you don’t mind I’m going to rest in Shiro’s room.” With a sigh she moved in the direction of the boy’s room. In truth she was rather hungry, but after trying to open up and being faced with the fact that her younger brother was alive she just couldn’t bring herself to go eat. Her stomach protested her decision as it grumbled almost audibly when she opened the door with an S on it.

Ara'mis moved back as Rayne neared, his frown darkening. His retreat was unusual, as he usually used some method of deceit to escape. Instead, he merely stepped away, trying to keep distance between them. He bumped into a wall, however, as though he hadn't known it was there. Odd, for he was usually quite alert and attuned to his surroundings. In that brief moment of surprise, the seer had closed the distance between them.

He growled quietly, and looked ready to speak when Rayne took his face firmly in her hands. Ara'mis reached up to push her hands away, but it was too late. He sucked in an audible breath as their gazes met, and his hold on the woman's wrists weakened. He couldn't look away.

Ara'mis trembled as Rayne spoke. All he could see was a reflection of himself. It was true, and very real. All lies and reputations, masks and reflections were torn away. There was no stronger hatred and disgust than he felt in that moment. The assassin tried to close his eyes, or to turn his head away from the seers gaze. He couldn't. Rayne's blue eyes were the sole captivating point, and held his attention ... no matter how much he wanted to look away.

A few ragged breaths left him, and the seer witnessed so many emotions, so many truths ... Ara'mis wished he could block them out. He hated it, this true sight. His legs were starting to feel week, and his eyes burned with unseen tears. Emotion rammed into him when he looked into those blue eyes; so many things better left forgotten or hidden were seen.

He hadn't felt Rayne's thumbs running over his cheeks, and hadn't noticed the strange effect it had on him physically. It took his breath away. It hurt. His chest was too tight, he couldn't breathe. Ages passed. Then, he heard her words.

A private place to talk. Her demand that he tell her he didn't want this. Ara'mis didn't respond. He didn't have to. He finally managed to close his eyes, looking defeated as anger flashed over his face. I can't.

Rayne's hands left him, and Ara'mis leaned back against the wall as though his energy left him. Seeing himself in her eyes ... was painful. Physically, mentally, and emotionally, it left him off-kilter. The assassin did well to hide most of it as the seer told the others to eat, and mentioned ale in the kitchen. Within moments, he'd drawn up his composure - though Fiaria and Rayne could have see through it easily. He was rattled, and his facade wasn't as convincing as it usually was. What was once Ara'mis was now something ... slightly different. As though Ara'mis wasn't sure of anything, as though he couldn't be certain of anything. As though ... his confidence in everything just ... faded.

He was strangely numb as he moved into the kitchen, and though the assassin moved as though he were frustrated, it was obvious to his friends that he was still as dazed. His hands were still shaking. Ara'mis refilled his mug with ale, and returned to his usual seat in the other room. He didn't want anything to do with these people, and needed time to try and piece himself back together after having all of the emotional armor he'd had torn away. It was strange seeing himself without all of the carefully crafted lies that he'd built up - the lies he'd come to repeat so often, even Ara'mis believed them.

He lifted a shaking mug to his lips, taking a deep drink after he sat down in his usual place. The assassin tried to regain his composure completely, forcing his thoughts elsewhere. It was difficult - he needed to start at the bottom and work up. He didn't know where to start. With a glance to where Rayne sat, Ara'mis shuddered and drained half his glass in a few gulps.

Fiaria had left. He hadn't noticed. How had he not noticed? Her words echoed back through his memory.

"You and I both know well that one day we are BOTH going to lose the game that we play."

Ara'mis felt a deep, sudden sorrow rake through him. It was swiftly followed by disgust that left a bitter taste in his mouth. He nearly threw the mug away from him. Setting the cup down, the assassin rubbed his face wearily. Leaning forward, he rested his elbows on his knees and let his face fall into his hands.

Fine. He'd sit and wait until Rayne found it necessary to release him. She couldn't keep them here forever. Still ... his indignation was a shadow of what it once was. Now, he could only feel ... guilt. Hatred. Disgust. Sorrow. With a quiet sigh, he tried to focus on something else. So went his struggling.

Kilia 12-23-2014 03:20 AM

Rayne gave a soft smile, yes, they understood each other and knew that they were trying to do the same thing. That is why they could yell and have arguments with each other only to easily make up in the end. A gentle smile graced her heart shaped face as she tucked some of Fiaria's black hair out of her face. "Yes and I trust, Yuuta." Her gently voice conveyed the fact that she had no reason to be scared of what her brother may or may not do.

She let their whispered conversation drop for she did not want to elaborate on the subject anymore, it was a rather sensitive subject. No, the seer was not trying to calm Ara'mis, she was in fact ripping his mask away so that he could easily be truthful with the love of his life, his dear mate. She sighed heavily, as she watched Fiaria escape into Shiro's room. This was not going well, she had no clue as to how the Goddess planed for this to pan out, to be worked out but she was going to do her best to get them where they needed to be.

The dirty blonde haired female quickly moved across the room, following the dark haired female into her son's room. She had to fix this, she needed to make sure that they were at least able to talk. "Then do not eat, even though Shiro made it special for you. You do not have to eat but please go to the cabin out back. There you and Ara'mis can talk in private. That way you can tackle one problem at a time." she said to her softly, taking her gently by the hand as she lead her towards the back door. She only stopped long enough to grab Ara'mis by the hand as she dragged him with them.

"Shiro, please unfreeze the house and bring your mother's food with you. She and y-Ara'mis are going to spend some time together." she spook sweetly to him, having caught her self before she messed up and let something slip that she was not suppose to talk about just yet. Once the house was unfrozen she promptly escorted them into the smaller one room cottage that was detached from the rest of the house. "Now you two have a nice long talk. Fiaria....now is the best time to do so when he is vulnerable. He is defenseless....please use your time wisely." she said to them encouragingly before she left them inside, closing the door and locking it behind her as she left, hugging Shiro to her as they headed back into the house.

She just wanted to cry, to possibly curl up in her bed and die. Here she was trying to mend a broken family but she seemed to make it worse, she just hoped that they were able to fix it themselves. She hugged Shiro close to her even more. She hated what she had done to Ara'mis, she hated having to force them together and to lock them up but she had to do what needed to be done. Just like how she kept her feelings for Yuuta bottled up deep inside of her, she deeply felt that if she acted on them, then she would just be trapping him in this prison with her.
