Gage muttered a quick, 'you're welcome' and started for the stairs again. He didn't get far though. "Gage honey, why don't you stay down and talk?" Although phrased like a question, it wasn't. He sighed and shuffled toward a chair, waiting for his father to push it back for him, into his hand. His mother pushed out another chair for Suki.

"Little miss, why don't you sit down," she said to the girl. "Is there someone we should call for you? I didn't see a phone or ID on you. You at least have a name right? Why did you collapse in such a place?" The woman offered a comforting smile, the sort she often wore for her son, even if he couldn't see it.

Nova_Alchemist 02-13-2015 04:15 AM

Suki watched Gage for a moment before sitting in the offered chair. She was quiet for a while, even when the mother began to ask her questions. What was she going to do? She couldn't just come out and say that she was an angel sent to earth to look for their son because she was told to be his guardian angel! "My name is Suki and I don't have anyone to go to... I probably collapsed because I don't really have a way to eat properly..." She said to her in a soft voice.

Kat Dakuu 02-13-2015 04:55 AM

For almost a whole minute, no one said anything. What was there to say upon hearing something so grim. No parent wanted to hear about a homeless child and Gage, who rarely knew what to say, really didn't now. He understood suffering though, if not perhaps Suki's specific predicament. He learned much younger than most though that no one had a perfect life and pain didn't need a physical ailment. He said nothing though, just stared down at the table where he tapped soft piano melodies.

After a quick look between each other, his father spoke. "Can't you stay in a shelter? It's not much, but at least there's a place to sleep and food," he said. "A young girl shouldn't be collapsing on the street."

Gloria looked at her husband in outrage. "A shelter is no place for a young girl either!" she exclaimed. Crossing her arms, she deciding everything right then and there. "Suki can stay here for a little while, at least until she can get back on her feet. I won't have any young people dying if I can help it!"

Gage sunk even further down into his seat. Great, just what he wanted. More irritating people close by.

Nova_Alchemist 02-13-2015 05:07 AM

Suki looked over at the father when he spoke. She simply shook her head. "I'd rather spent my time on the streets..." She answered casually. Suki knew what sometimes happened to young girls who stayed in the shelter in town. It made the girl shiver in her skin a little. She blinked in surprise and looked at the mother. Suki defensively rose her hands up. "N-now wait a minute... I... I can't let you do that Ms.." She paused a moment and glanced over at Gage who didn't seem to like that idea one bit. Suki looked back at the mother. "I-I can find somewhere to stay. I don't want to intrude in you family..." She said quietly, scratching the side of her cheek lightly.

Kat Dakuu 02-13-2015 07:48 PM

Gloria was having none of that though and she was the sort of woman who didn't settle for less than what she wanted. She reached across the table and patted Suki's hand. "Nonsense! It wouldn't be a trouble at all. I'm sure you can find another option if you look, but how can I send a girl the same age as my son out onto the streets?" It was unreasonable to ask a mother to do such a thing. Both Gage and his father sighed because they knew there was nothing changing the woman's mind now.

"It's alright, we're all quite content with this," his father said. "Right, Gage?"

The boy just pushed back from his chair with an abrupt motion. "Whatever. I'm going to my room." Gage left the room at twice the speed he'd walked down with.

Gloria cleared her throat. "...He doesn't mean anything by it. He just doesn't warm up to strangers quickly."

Nova_Alchemist 02-13-2015 09:24 PM

Suki looked down at the table and sighed softly. "I can see how that was an unreasonable gesture..." She said softly. She knew that neither the husband nor Gage were thrilled about it, but what could she do? Suki glanced at Gage, kind of hurt when he just left the table. Suki looked back at the mother and shook her head lightly, faking a small smile. "No, I understand how hard this must be for him..." She said softly, then looked back at the table. "I guess I'm stuck here for a little while then?" She asked the parents quietly, looking back up at them.

She had to find away to tell Gage who she was...

Kat Dakuu 02-15-2015 03:13 AM

Gloria only had the brightest smile though. "If you don't mind sleeping on the couch, then it's all good," she said. "Would you like a shower? I can get you some old clothes of mine to wear, though they'll be a bit big. That sound good?" She liked to dote and didn't notice Suki's discomfort with the situation. Her husband excused himself from the table, muttering something about work, and left the girls alone. "It'll be dinner time soon too. Feel free to do whatever you want until then. Don't worry, no one here will bite." Without waiting for Suki's answer, she hurried off to grab some old clothes.

Nova_Alchemist 02-17-2015 09:56 PM

Suki smiled and simply shook her head. "I don't mind at all Mrs..." She paused when she realized she didn't know the names of the people she was staying with. "Um.." She murmured quietly, looking at the woman with curious eyes. "May I ask what I can call you and your husband?" She asked softly. But by that time, the woman had disappeared..something about a shower? Suki sighed and slowly got up from the table. She made her way to the staircase and then went looking for the bathroom.

Kat Dakuu 02-18-2015 03:31 AM

Gloria reappeared quicker than one would expect. She found Suki just outside of the bathroom which stood on the opposite side of the upstairs hall than the bedrooms. "Here you are dear. It's nothing a young girl would want to wear, but at least their clean." She held out a white button up blouse with puffy, lacy sleeves and a pencil skirt. They clothes looked formal and old fashioned, but at least at some point, they had been the height of fashion. "And please call me Gloria. If you need anything, just ask anyone here. I've got my husband to bring out a pile of blankets and put them on the couch so you should have everything. I'll see you tomorrow morning then!"

Nova_Alchemist 02-18-2015 03:43 AM

Suki looked at her and thankfully accepted the offered clothing. "Alright, thank you Mrs. Gloria." She said after the woman had finished speaking. Suki went into the bathroom, closed the door and turned on the water before stripping down and getting into the shower once the water was how she liked it. She spent enough time to get cleaned up and everything before getting out of the shower and putting the clothes on that Gloria had given to her. After she was down with that she wandered the halls. Suki thought a moment and went downstairs to look for Gloria. Didn't she mention something about dinner? or did she miss something?

Kat Dakuu 02-19-2015 06:32 PM

After escaping to his room, Gage spent a long time trying not to think about the strange person now inhabiting their house. He couldn't just ignore her though. Although Suki seemed the quiet and nervous type, she still made unfamiliar noises that he couldn't help but cue in on. From the start, he was a night person. A side-affect of being fully blind. Now he spent the entire night just listening and eventually sleeping, long after everyone else went to sleep. It was late morning when he woke.

Nova_Alchemist 02-22-2015 08:01 PM

Suki slowly made her way down the hallway and towards the stairs, since it was an unfamiliar place and she couldn't see very clearly due to the darkness. She went to take a step and had apparently missed a step, because the next she knew was that she was falling down a set of stairs. Her little wings forced themselves out of her back- tearing the borrowed shirt, and caught her before the girl got hurt, and she hovered above the staircase. Slowly opening one of her eyes, she blinked a few times and glanced at her small madly-flapping wings that didn't make much noise unless your ears were super sensitive. 'I thought he binded my wings so I couldn't use them....' She thought to herself, slightly confused.

Deciding not to think on it too hard, she hovered down the bottom of the staircase and folded her little wings to try and hide them. She sighed softly and walked over to the couch, and just let herself fall over it. She cuddled up to the blankets and fell asleep. Suki slept all through the night and part of the morning.

Kat Dakuu 02-23-2015 07:27 PM

Gage never slept deeply, always on some level alert to his surroundings like how a cat napped. So even though he'd mostly drifted off, he noticed strange noises in the night. Subtle flutterings, the sort of sound he could almost imagine he made up. A part of him wanted to think that because the noises made no sense. But the other part of him trusted his senses without fail. He fell asleep thinking about the noise and wondering about how to go about figuring the source of it.

Mid-morning, Gage made his way downstairs. They had a strict schedule for their meals and he could already smell french toast and hashbrowns cooking. He said his customary greeting and sat the table to wait. The strange girl hadn't woken yet, but if she wanted breakfast, she aught to wake soon. That's what he thought though he made no move to wake her.

Nova_Alchemist 02-26-2015 11:17 PM

Suki slept late, but when the other members of the house began to stir, so did the young angel. Her eyes slowly opened and stared at the ceiling as she tried to remember what happened last night. She knew that her back was hurting but couldn't remember why. She sighed quietly and slowly got off of the couch. Suki sniffed the air and her stomach growled with the scent of breakfast. Suki casually walked into the kitchen to join the family. She looked at Georgia and smiled as she sat down. "It smells delicious." She said to her.

Kat Dakuu 02-26-2015 11:55 PM

Gage noticed Suki getting up before anyone else and he glanced at her, then simply told him mother to get another plate. She'd just started that when Suki walked into the kitchen and spoke. "There you are dear!" Gloria exclaimed, handing he plate to her. "Everything is still warm. I hope you like french toast." She stepped back to give the girl access to the stove where all the food sat. As she did so, she noticed something out of the corner of her eye. Gloria let out a gasp and reached out to touch the back of Suki's shirt. "What's this?! I know the shirt I gave you didn't have any tears!" Her cry had the eyes of all the family turning to Suki, including Maria and Gage, though his eyes missed and stared at a picture of a chicken hanging above the stove.

Nova_Alchemist 02-27-2015 12:21 AM

She smiled and carefully took the offered plate. Suki got up from the table and began walking towards the stove to get breakfast. When she head Gloria gasp, she froze and nearly dropped the plate. Thankfully she was able to keep a firm grip on the dish and simply held it up to her chest. Suki jerked when Gloria went to touch the rip on the back of the shirt and twirled around to look at the family. "I um..." She stuttered, trying to think of an explanation. Thankfully, she remembered falling down the stairs. She'd use that. "The house was dark last night and I fell down the stairs when I tried to make it back to the living room..that must've caused the shirt to tear... I'm so sorry I wasn't more careful." Suki spoke, really hoping that no one would ask her a hundred questions about the accident.

Kat Dakuu 02-27-2015 04:01 AM

Gage had no idea what they were looking at, but he did start a bit when Suki mentioned falling down the stairs. He did hear that and he heard...the strange noise. Now he was very confused. Strange noises and shirt tears? If he were the sort to ask, he might, but instead he just turned back to eating.

Gloria was silent for a second, not sure if she accepted this explanation. Two parallel tears along the back. "Are you alright?" she simply asked, not sure if she should press for more about someone who wasn't her child. "Is your back hurt?"

Maria cut in. "Oh yeah, I fall down the stairs all the time! Not like Gage at all. He can't ever see and he's the least clutsy of all of us!" Gage's cheeks tinted pink at his sister's words.

Nova_Alchemist 02-27-2015 04:17 AM

Suki turned and began to put food on her plate, then went to the table and took a seat. She nodded lightly when the mother asked her if she was alright. "I'm fine..." She answered quietly. "My back is okay too." Suki answered then began to eat her breakfast when Maria piped in. She couldn't help but giggle a little at Gage's reaction, but nevertheless, she stayed quietly and kept eating. She was worried how she could keep her secret, if the family was slowly getting closer to her? Or maybe she was getting closer to the family...

(sorry it's so short >.<)

Kat Dakuu 02-28-2015 05:29 AM

After a bit of hesitation, the family accepted Suki's answer and involved themselves in their own chatter, though Maria and her mom mostly dominated it. Gage for his credit, finished his breakfast and pushed back his chair. "I want to go down to the park," he said, abruptly cutting off the conversation. Eyes turned to him. It was a sixth sense really, but he could always tell when people watched him, like he felt the power of stares against his skin.

"I'm sorry honey. I've got a conference call today and Maria has school. There's no one to go out with you," his mother said with a sigh. No matter how much they trusted him to get along fine by himself, Gage could not go out without supervision.

Nova_Alchemist 02-28-2015 06:03 AM

As Suki ate, she curiously watched the other family members. She blinked when Gage spoke up. Once Suki was finished with her breakfast, and after Gloria had told him that going to the park was impossible- Suki stood and casually went to put her dishes in the sink. "Could I go with him...?" She asked curiously, hoping that both Gloria and Gage would be alright with the idea.

Kat Dakuu 03-01-2015 05:53 AM

"Oh...are you sure dear?" Gloria started, following Suki with her eyes. "We don't want to put upon you or anything. You're our guest." Gage however said nothing. He felt when his mother turned her eyes to him. "But I suppose...would that be alright with you, Gage? I know you want to go alone, but that's just not possible."

After almost a minute of silence, Gage finally responded. "Yes, I suppose that would be alright." He didn't know what he really felt, but he did now almost anything would be fine if it let him feel a little freedom.

Nova_Alchemist 03-01-2015 07:40 AM

Suki smiled and simply nodded. "I'm sure." She answered cheerfully. "If it's alright with Gage, of course." Suki added softly. She waited patiently for Gage and his mother to talk, the smiled again. She was happy to be of some service to the blind boy.

After a moment, she started to feel a little funny. But she couldn't place her finger on it. So she ignored it.

Kat Dakuu 03-01-2015 11:52 PM

"I'm going to go change," Gage said. "Will you meet me by the door. Don't stand right in front of it," he added after a pause. He didn't want to collide with Suki again, so best to know where she would be standing, or at least not standing. He headed up the stairs, pale fingers trailing on the railing. His clothes consisted mostly of black, jeans, and anything of that sort. Basically things he didn't need to worry about matching because he didn't want to look 'challenged' even if he didn't care about fashion, because how could he? Not much more than a minute later, he came down again and went straight for the door. "Then let's go."

Nova_Alchemist 03-07-2015 04:26 AM

Suki nodded to Gage's request, then spoke up "okay" before he disappeared up the stair case. She thought about what she was going to do about the shirt... Nothing came to mind though. Besides, at this rate she'll just tear up another shirt. So she really wasn't worried about it. By the time Gage had come back downstairs, she was standing off the side a little so that he wouldn't run into her- but she wasn't far from the door.

"Yeah." Suki said before slowly opening the door. The last she wanted to do was hit in the face of something... Then she walked outside and stood to the side so that she wasn't in his path when he came out.

(sorry for the wait x.x life has been getting in the way >.<)

Kat Dakuu 03-08-2015 04:04 AM

In his head, Gage counted steps. He listened and he clicked his tongue and listened some more. It took all his attention so he didn't pay much attention to Suki, only enough to know where she was relative to him. No need to look around, he started off onto the sidewalk at a slow, but not hesitant pace. "It's two blocks down, a right, ten yards, then to the left the across a street," he murmured, still without seeming to pay much attention to the girl. Another might find it surprising how he knew the world around him, but it was what he needed to do to live. He nearly ran full on into a person, but never mind that. It was better than asking for help because he would never do that.
