Suki was careful not to get in the boy's way as he made his way downstairs and out the door. She followed him to the side walk and towards the park. She blinked when he spoke to her. "Wow, you sure know how to get around." She said quietly, hoping not to push any buttons. How could she get close to him if she annoyed him? Suki could tell him who she was, since it was just the two of them..but how would react? And how would she prove it? Her wings shouldn't even be working! Wouldn't matter if they would show themselves or not though, unless she could fly around or get her wings to flap. Then she would be at risk of other mortals knowing...
What if she could give him sight? No, no... That would be too much... These thoughts surrounded the girl's mind. |
Gage just brushed off her comment. Of course he knew how to get around. It felt neither like a compliment or an insult to him because this was simple fact and necessity. He couldn't spend time concentrating on her anyway because that meant he couldn't concentrate on everything else. Reaching the street he needed to cross, he fumbled until he found the pole and the pedestrian button which he pressed. This street more than anything else was why he wasn't allowed to walk to the park by himself. Gage grit his teeth and just managed to bite out the words that pained him the most. "Tell me when it's safe to cross."
|
Suki sighed quietly to herself. The silence was eating her alive! She knew she had to stay calm though, he was probably just focusing on his surroundings. She watched him fumble around until he pressed the pedestrian button. Suki then watched the sign and the traffic. When the sign showed the person icon, she immediately informed Gage- "it's safe." In a clear voice, then proceeded to followed him across the street.

Gage hesitated a second before he stepped into the street. Although she said it was safe, he had to listen to the traffic himself too, because he didn't totally trust her. Once across the street, the park entrance lay very close and almost the second they'd stepped inside, the sounds changed. He could hear the birds in the trees and dogs barking and running in the distance, the sound of squirrels scampering up a tree, and stroller wheels on a stone paved path. Gage sighed, something like a smile passing over his face. "This is it."
