Daylen just looked at Contessa softly. She really didn't have to continually thank him, he honestly didn't mind. He smiled softly watching her with the baby Alikna. "He'll grow to be around your waist height, might be bigger if he is greatly loved and spoiled." He told her changing the subject. "His fur will grow a few inches longer and he'll start looking more like a saber tooth rather than the wolf breed he appears like now. He'll never lose his horns." He simply told her. "He will be great with children. You won't need to worry about him being around little Carolyn. I modified some traits with his breed to make sure." Daylen had to add the part of Carolyn quickly into the sentence. It was too early in his opinion to think about children, he wasn't sure if he wanted them still. He still didn't want to kill them by accident like his father. Even though her father said Contessa wouldn't let him, he still felt unsure about that topic. He just looked at the small creature in the crate. He was actually proud that it turned out looking correctly. His sorcery made sure of the rest.
He had changed the subject, so she obviously said something to upset him. Contessa sighed mentally and listened carefully to what he was saying about her new pet. Waist high? He's going to be huge! she thought to herself and wondered how her parents would take this new member of the family. She was going to make sure to tell them everything that Daylen said to her and make sure to keep the little guy with her at all times. "I understand..." she said quietly and looked at her pet, still bothered about having upset Daylen somehow but she wasn't going to tell Daylen that. "Will you be able to clean your study?" she asked curiously, it was her turn to change the subject and she wondered if he'd get upset that she did.
A small nod of his head was part of his answer. "I will be abled to. It will just be itchy work." Daylen told her softly. He wouldn't clean it today with her still here. He already took a shower and he didn't want to leave her alone again. "I will clean it later. I don't want to leave you alone again." He told her softly as he looked at her. He noticed the look on her face. "Is something wrong? You look as if you're bothered by something." He was slightly worried he said something upsetting. "Is it about the family comment?" He asked her quietly. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to imply anything. I'm not even sure if I want children. There will be no pressure for an heir, I promise." He said looking at the counter, he hoped she wasn't offend in anyway. "It's not that I wouldn't want any, I am afraid they will end up like my father. I can't control my powers very well when my emotions show." He told her plainly. Daylen hoped he hadn't ruined her day with anything he just said.
He doesn't want to leave me alone again? she thought to herself and looked at him. "I won't be alone, I'll be with little no name here." she replied quietly. When he mentioned the look she had, her eyes widened. Was it that noticeable that she was worried? "I'm fine Daylen." Contessa muttered but she doubt he heard her because now he was talking about all sorts of things that had never crossed her mind once. "You don't want to have kids?" she asked in a whisper. Contessa really wanted to have a family of her own and now it wasn't going to happen because Daylen obviously didn't want children. Even though she was hurt by that comment she nodded, "I understand. No children then Daylen." she noted and managed to smile at him in hopes that it would reassure him that she was fine.
Daylen just shook his head. "No, I never said I didn't want any." He said frantically. Small sparks erupted from the stove and he instantly calmed down, looking away from Contessa. "I'm sorry, I guess I should have rephrased that." He said softly. The sparks had gone once he had calmed down and went back to his normal serious self. "Truth be told, I would love to have children. However I'm not sure having children is safe with me. The slightest excitement or emotion and things could go south fast." He never looked at her as he spoke shyly. Having children, he knew would cause allot of accidents with his pyrokinesis. Daylen just didn't want Contessa or anyone else to get hurt from his lost of control. "It would kill me if I accidently hurt a child of mine or someone I cared about again." He whispered softly to her.
Contessa jumped slightly when the sparks erupted from the stove. "Look Daylen. If you don't think it would be safe to have children, then we won't have any children. I don't mind it, as long as you are comfortable and happy, that's what matters to me the most." Contessa explained seriously. "I don't care if we don't have kids, I'll just keep myself busy with other things like the garden, fixing furniture and toys, and little no name." She added reassuringly. Sure she was sad that they wouldn't have kids, and she was sure that her parents wouldn't be too thrilled either but she wasn't about to force Daylen to become a father if he clearly didn't want to. "You don't have to worry about what I think of this, because I'm fine with it really." she repeated, hoping he'd believe her.
He just listened to Contessa speak. He couldn't help but feel bad. When he looked at her, he could see it in her face that she wanted children. Daylen lightly shook his head once more. "Your face is very vocal. I can see you want children." He told her softly, he placed a soft smile on his face. He wanted her to be happy and if that meant children then he would have to simply find a way to keep them safe from his powers. "If you want children then we can have them. We can have as many as you want. I will just have to find a way to nullify my pyrokinesis." He told her softly. He wasn't sure how he would do that but he would find a way. Even if it permanently stripped him of his power.
"Daylen I'm being serious. I don't want you having to worry about accidentally hurting the children. I want you to be relaxed and comfortable, and children obviously make you worry and I don't want that. I'll be okay." she said and tried to think of something that could help lighten the mood. "Think of it this way, it will be less distractions from your work!" she said and smiled. She knew though that nothing she said could change his mind so decided it was best to just drop the subject allow the uncomfortable silence to spill over them. Maybe I should go home? I don't want to upset him any more than I already have. But I don't want to leave him all alone either...though he would probably find something to do..she thought to herself and looked down at her little pet.
Daylen just smiled sweetly at Contessa, it was clear they both were out to make each other happy. Both seemed to be stubborn on the topic. Without a warning Daylen softly took Contessa into his arms, hugging her softly. "How about we make a deal, if I can find a way before we get married to nullify my pyrokinesis, we can have as many children as you want. If I can't then then we won't have have any." He softly spoke as his chin rested lightly on Contessa's head. He pulled away and looked at her curiously. "Deal?" He asked her and since they both didn't know when the actual wedding day was. It would be a challenge on his part. "It seems like a far deal, unless you want to add something to sweeten it?" He asked her once more in his soft tone.
Contessa gasped softly when Daylen pulled her into a hug. A light pink blush spread on her cheeks as she listened to his proposal. "Daylen..." she started and frowned. "I don't want to force you into this." she said honestly but knew that there was no point in discussing the topic any further. "Very well then." she answered softly and nodded. There was no point in continuing to talk about this since it would get them no where. "Just...don't force yourself to do this just to see me happy okay? I really don't mind about having kids or not, really." she said, hoping he understood what she was saying.
Daylen just shook his head. "You're not forcing me to do anything." He told her softly. "Besides, Sirus dared me to name a son after him. I told him he would have to talk to you about that." He said plainly. "Expect him to hound you about that next time he see you." He said softly before he went over and got his coffee. He was giving her a plain warning about his brother. He was having too much fun with his dares. "Would you like a drink or something to eat?" He was going to change the subject seeing how they both were stubborn and wanted the topic changed.
"Well I feel like I am...and I don't like it." she said quietly. "Name a son after Sirus huh? Well then...I'll have to see what he has to say to me about that. Doesn't he know you don't want any children?" she asked. Sure it was a dare...and it was obvious that Sirus would dare Daylen to do something he didn't want to. "I suppose some tea would be nice." she whispered and wondered when exactly Sirus would mention naming a child after him. She had no problem with it, she actually thought it was a cute idea really.
Daylen just shook his head lightly, he never said he didn't want children. He was just afraid of accidentally hurting the child if not killing them. He got her a glass and filled it with water. He just heated the water in the glass with his mind as he gathered some dried up herbs and placed them in a small metal ball. He sank the ball and chain into the glass, letting it change in color the longer the ball of herbs sat. He set the glass near Contessa and the bowl of sugar cubes near it. He got her a clean spoon and set it near the glass for her. "I never said I didn't want children, I just don't hurt to hurt them if we have them." He said once more sadly. He loved children but he didn't want to hurt them. "As for Sirus, he knows how I feels. He thinks I'll be fine but it doesn't stop me from worrying. If I hurt one of our children, you would probably hate me. Even if it was an accident. I know I would if I did. I would never forgive myself." He told her plainly.
"I would not hate you, I'd hate myself for having them in the first place. I don't want you to worry Daylen. It's not really healthy to bring children into the world if we're going to worry about hurting them. If you think you can hurt them, then there is no point to having them, don't you agree?" she asked and shook her head, this conversation was really getting them nowhere. Stop talking about it! she scolded herself. Looking at the cup of tea, the corner of her lips curled upwards in a small smile. "Thank-you." she thanked Daylen quietly and dropped three sugar cubes into the tea, carefully stirring them. "Perhaps it is best to talk about something you enjoy." she suggested softly.
Daylen just looked at the counter. He didn't want her to hate bearing him children. He saw his maid walk in. "Oh." She was slightly startled by them. "Master Daylen." She said lightly bowing. She was rather young for a maid, maybe late teens. "Mya, can I ask you a few questions?" He spoke softly to the girl. She just nodded. "Do you have your cards with?" She had to think for a bit before nodding once more. He smiled softly. "Can I have a reading?" She nodded lightly walking up to him. She looked at the little baby creature in the crate and smiled. She bowed lightly to Contessa as she pulled out her tarot cards from her apron's pocket. Daylen just leaned in to her ear and whispered the question he wanted to know the results of. He pulled away from the maid as she began to shuffle the deck. "Mya is always accurate on fortures." He simply told Contessa as she began to lay out the cards to read his question.
Contessa sipped her tea in silence and looked up when a maid walked in. Curtsying in return to Mya, Contessa looked at Daylen and nodded. Contessa never understood how fortunes really worked but it was still interesting to watch. "I don't want to get in the way, I think I'll go talk to my garden for a little bit Daylen, and water it. I'll be back right away I promise. I just...I just need some fresh air." she explained and frowned as she grabbed her tea cup and the small crate carefully before making her way out to the solarium where she set her things down and grabbed the watering can. "Hello lovelies. I do not remember if I've watered you today." Contessa explained and picked up no name in her hand gently while she watered the seeds. They hadn't grown yet, she knew it would take time for them to grow. When she was done, she put the watering can back to its spot and knelt down on the ground, sipping her tea while petting no name. "You'll grow up big and strong little guy, I'll do my best to care for you. I promise to feed you some milk once we get home and then we are going to bed because I'm sure you're very tired." she noted and sipped her tea. Why was Daylen getting his fortune told? Was it because of her?
Mya flipped the cards over in silence. She looked at him while he murmured to himself. "Bad new drowned out with good news." He wondered what the cards meant by that. He tapped the card for death. "Can you tell me who dies?" But she shook her head no. Daylen figured as much. He just wanted to know how Contessa's and his future looked but even that was clouded. "I'm sorry Master, I hope all goes well." She simply bowed to him after picking up her cards. Once she placed them back into her pocket. She began to clean the kitchen. He took his coffee and left the kitchen. He stopped at his study. He thought it was best to give Contessa some space. Their conversation prier was a depressing one. Though no matter how hard he tried to tell her he didn't say that he didn't want children, she took it that want. He set his cup down inside of the study. Daylen rolled up his sleeves before he began to clean the black dust up.
Contessa sipped her tea in silence and gently pet her little pet. "I guess today has not been a good day....the sweets only cheered him up for a little while before I managed to upset him again. I can only imagine how marriage is going to be. I'll probably just upset him even more. Maybe I should just be quiet around him, maybe then I won't upset him." she said to herself and finished her tea, letting out a soft sigh. "I really need to talk to someone, hopefully my parents will know what to do because I don't. All I know is that I won't be having kids and I'll live every day, worrying about upsetting him. Sounds like a lovely marriage doesn't it little guy?" she commented and pouted sadly.
A light laugh filled the solarium. Sirus slowly came from the shadows and knelt down near Contessa. "I can't leave you two alone for a minute can I?" He playfully rested his left elbow on his knee and his head in his hand. "So.... what's up dearie? Why are you hiding in here and not with your future lover boy?" He laughed lightly. "Daylen is cleaning his study, guess he wants to give you some time alone. Which means something happened." He said playfully cheerful to his future sister-in-law. At least Daylen wasn't dense when it came to women. He gasped lightly seeing the infant in her hands. "Daylen created a Alikna!? No way." He said looking at it awe. "Did you get to see him bring it to life?" The smiled on his face grew widely. "Ah! I'm so jealous!" He said playfully. Although he was greatly jealous. He wanted so badly to see the mixture of alchemy and sorcery his twin could do.
"What's so funny Sirus?" Contessa asked and turned to look at him. "Oh, a lot had happened while you were gone, but I'm sure you already knew that." she muttered sadly and sighed. "Yes. It was supposed to me a wedding present...I saw the whole thing and it was slightly frightening, but at the same time amazing.." Contessa started and pet the little creature. "We talked about his visions, then I made him some sweets to cheer him up, then he mentioned children and now I'm here." Contessa summarized. "He said he was afraid of hurting our children so I said we won't have children then but he kept saying that it wasn't that he didn't want kids, he was just afraid of hurting them. He said he thinks I'd hate him if he hurt them, so I told him I wouldn't hate him and that we wouldn't have kids. I told him I didn't mind not having children. I just want him happy and comfortable. I don't want him having to worry about hurting the children all the time. I told him that I'd hate myself for bringing children to this world for that reason." Contessa explained, wondering if she was making any sense. "I think I'm better off just not saying anything." she muttered and stared at the ground.
"Ow, just, ow!" He said slightly shock but still playful in tone. "You seriously told him you would hate to bear his children for that reason?" He made a playfully but completely shocked face. "That was so cruel. Daylen wants to make you happy, you're words were like a kick in the crotch. He doesn't want to hurt your children but does he want them." Sirus just sighed lightly. "When he accidentally charred our father, Daylen went through something no one will ever understand and he did it alone. I can't even imagine the pain he still feels from that day. He doesn't want the pain again. It's one thing if it's your parent. Completely different with a child, especially your own. He doesn't realize that he has amazing control over this pyrokinesis unlike back then. Best way is to prove him wrong." He sweetly told her and smiled his goofy childish one. "Now you mention sweets?" He said playfully trying to cheer her up.
"Yes thirty six cupcakes for him. Maybe he'll share with you. As for the children, I don't want him to worry though. He doesn't seem to understand that all I want is for him to be happy and comfortable. Children make him worry and I don't want that." Contessa said, starting to get a slight headache from repeating herself without yelling. "I just, I don't know. I don't want to upset him but it's obvious that no matter what I do, I'll upset him anyway. Perhaps I should just go home and stay there."Contessa muttered and placed her face against her knees, her hair cascading like a curly curtain around her wile her hand gently pet the little creature. "I don't know what to do anymore." she added quietly.
Sirus just laughed. "Children make everyone worry, powers or not. It comes with the territory. Daylen just has a little bit more to deal with when it comes to his powers." He told her softly as he placed a hand on her head, lightly patting her to calm her. "You want him happy. Bare him a child, it will be good for both of you. He'll realize he isn't as dangerous as he thinks and it will help you two bond better." He told her seriously. "You're older brother has spoken." He told her playfully while wiggling his fingers in her hair. "Besides I want a nephew with my name." He said grinning. He was hoping to cheer her up with his goofy self. "Go home and stay? Why don't you love me anymore? I can be pretty, love me!" He said dramatically out of no where. His hands gripping his shirt as he did.
Contessa looked up finally and smiled slightly. "But..." she started and sighed. "I guess you're right. It is normal to worry. I just don't want him to blame himself if anything were to happen..." she explained and nodded. "I know, Daylen mentioned that. So I was waiting to see when you would bring it up. I actually think it's a great idea." she started and widened her eyes in surprise at Sirus' sudden outburst. "Aww don't say that silly! Of course I love my older brother! You are very adorable and I enjoy being able to talk to you." Contessa reassured, patting his shoulder gently. "I only wanted to stay home because I didn't want to upset him anymore." she explained and suddenly remembered something. "Oh! I was going to ask you for a favor but I see no point in doing it now, seeing as how Daylen is already cleaning." Contessa informed.
Sirus just smiled sweetly. "Nothing will happen, he isn't that dangerous anymore. He learnt to control it faster then most children would have. Haven't you noticed how quickly he stops it if it sparks when he shows his emotions?" He asked her curiously. He was sure that at one point or another he had gotten excited and it flickered slightly out of control. He knew Daylen liked Contessa and at one point it would happen. He playfully clapped his hands hearing that Contessa liked the idea. He most likely would get a nephew named after him. "Oh he is just cleaning up the powder." He said snickering at the thought of his brother covered in itching powder. He bet it was hilarious seeing Daylen completely covered in it. He smirk, "Are you wanting to prank mister Grumpy too?" He asked playfully, even though he knew it wasn't what she wanted.
