Hearing Sirus mention the sparks, she remembered how some sparks had appeared near the stove. "Yes, I did see sparks appear when I mentioned that we shouldn't have kids then." Contessa admitted softly. "I thought it meant he was getting mad.." she whispered and frowned softly at the thought of ever making him angry with her. "You know, that wasn't very nice of you to do that, but it did surprise me since you weren't here when it happened." she commented and shook her head, "No I wanted to surprise him and hopefully cheer him up. I wanted to clean his study for him but I guess I won't be doing that now." she explained and raised an eyebrow. "What prank have you got up your sleeve Sirus?" she asked curiously.
Sirus just shook his head lightly. "It was probably from him getting shock, maybe excitement if it was about children. When he is mad, the air gets extremely hot. If there are candles near by, they will burn instantly down. Leave nothing but puddles of wax. No one ever gets hurt though." Told her assuringly. He reached into his vest pocket and pulled out a small journal. "Daylen's." He said laughing, he was reading it earlier. He just shrugged. "I set it up this morning when I sent him to your house. Then I stole his journal. Want to read it?" He asked her playfully. He acted shocked that she expected him to play a prank on his twin. He giggled softly, "I can distract him for you if you want." He said to Contessa, he would have fun distracting his brother for her. He knew just how he would to.
Contessa was shocked that Sirus would take Daylen's journal. "Sirus if Daylen finds out he's going to be very mad with you, and I don't think we should be reading it." she said and shook her head. "I offered to clean the study for him but he refused. He said he'd clean it since it was his mess. I'll probably upset him if I clean it without his permission." she explained and raised an eyebrow. "I must say that I'm surprised you haven't gone to eat the cupcakes right now." she pointed out and chuckled softly. She really wanted to clean and organize the study, but the way things were right now between herself and Daylen, she guessed it would be best to leave things alone. Tomorrow would be another day.
Sirus just chuckled. "When is he not mad at me?" He said playfully as he opened the leather book. He was looking through the pages for juicy details. "He always says he will clean it but never does." He just shook his head in disagreement. "I know for a fact he won't be mad at you if you clean it." He said chuckling. "This statement alone says I'm right." He cleared his throat before reading the words out loud, tracing them as he read out loud. "I have to say I find my arranged fiance very attractive as a matter of fact. I am actually looking forward to our wedding night. To see her bare skin on my silken sheets will ignite my lustful dreams and fantasies of all these lonely years." He smiled at Contessa he would attack the cupcakes later, the journal was just getting good.
"I'm sure there are times when he's not mad at you. Like when you were playing ball together with my dad. He didn't look mad then. He looked happy." she said and looked down at the creature who had fallen to sleep in her hands. Contessa was about to speak again when Sirus started reading out of Daylen's journal. Without meaning to, Contessa listened closely to what the statement said and felt her face turn a bright red. "You're lying! Does it really say that?!" she asked and placed her little pet in his makeshift bed carefully before looking back at Sirus. "This is a joke isn't it? You're trying to prank me aren't you?" she asked, hoping it was just a joke. Daylen couldn't think that about her could he?
Sirus was about to say something but stopped when the book was taken from him. Daylen just closed his journal and hit his twin in the head with it. "It doesn't say that. Sirus is just being perverted." Sirus just bursted into laughter directed at both of them, their faces were as red as they could get. Daylen was as red as he could get. He couldn't look at Contessa from embarrassment, thanks to his brother's words. He wasn't sure how to address this event. "Your faces are priceless!" Sirus chimed out through the laughter. Daylen just looked at his twin. He was watching Sirus hold his side from the pain as he laughed. Daylen didn't find it amusing at all. He made him sound like a pervert. He folded his arms over his chest, his face was emotionless as Sirus kept laughing. Tears making their way down Sirus' face from the laughter.
Contessa glared for the first time since she had met them and quickly grabbed her pet crate, and the empty teacup before standing up. "I knew it! I knew it didn't say that, Daylen wouldn't write that stuff." she said and turned her head away. "I think I should leave now. Thank-you for the tea..." she muttered and stormed out of there, obviously very upset with what Sirus did. After agreeing to name a child after him, he goes ahead and pulls this prank on her. Carefully, she set the crate on the counter and started to wash the empty teacup, trying to be fast so that she could just go home and curl up in her bed. Perhaps it was best that she didn't visit tomorrow, maybe some space was a good idea. She didn't want to leave, but she was emotionally exhausted and confused right now.
Daylen just looked at his twin once Contessa left the solarium. He hit his brother once more with the book. "Are you mentally disabled? Do you realized how embarrassed that joke of yours made her feel." Sirus was trying to calm down from laughing at them. "I couldn't help it." Daylen just glared at his twin. "Get out of my house." He simply told Sirus. "Go." He plainly repeated to his pouty twin, who just left. Once Sirus left Daylen slowly made his way to the kitchen where he figured she would be. He leaned in the doorframe and watched her. He was debating what to say, either way it wasn't going to be fun.
He walked in, flipping through the journal. He opened a page and set in on the counter for her to read. "I'm sorry, my brother is a moron. However, I wrote two pages about you." He told her softly. "One was right after I met you, before I asked to start over." He just looked at the page. "I never wanted to be married, especially to a D' Veen. How can the Elder's asked such a thing of me. She is pretty, seems kind. Everything a man would want for a bride, but I'm not someone to paired to." He said reading the first sentence of the page. "It goes on about how I'm not good match for anyone, that it's safer to keep me away from the world." He told her plainly. "The next page was the other day. After we spend time together. It goes on to say that I'm not good enough for someone like you, that you deserve better. That I'm afraid that one day you'll realize that and hate the marriage because you'll be stuck with me." He told her softly. He was trying to make her feel better, yet was telling the truth about his journal pages. He would not mind if she read his journal. If it helped her forget what Sirus just said then he was all for it. |
Contessa just frowned and shook her head, pushing the journal away. "I do not want to read anything. I just want to curl up somewhere and cry." she said and gathered the courage to look at him. "That was the most humiliating thing I've ever experienced!" she cried and stared at the floor. "I don't know what to do anymore. I came over today with the hopes of spending time with you and making you happy. That's why I made you the sweets, that's why I wanted to clean your study. I wanted to make you happy but it seems that all I've done today was upset you, you deserve someone that makes you happy. I'm obviously not that person..." she said honestly and looked at the little creature who was sleeping before looking back down in hopes that Daylen wouldn't see her cry. "I'm at a loss for things to do now. I'm not good enough for you and I'll never be. I'll just be the girl you were forced to marry." she said softly, trying not to cry. It was pointless, just like everything else she did today because the tears rolled down her cheeks and fell to the floor.
When Contessa started to cry, Daylen just walked over to her. He just gently hugged her to him so she could cry on his shoulder. He didn't want her to cry because of his twin being a moron, and he called Daylen dense. He sighed softly. "Unfortunately that is Sirus for you, I'm sorry to say this but you will have to get use to his twisted humor." He told her as he gently patted her back trying to comfort her after his retarded twin picked on her. He softly smiled even though she couldn't see it. "It's seems we both feel the same way. However can assure you Miss Contessa, I was never upset. I know I'm hard to read most of the times but I don't get upset easily. Perhaps if you acted like my moronic twin did just now, I might little get upset." He joked softly, trying to lighten her mood. Daylen just lightly pulled away from her and looked sweetly at her. He reached into his vest pocket and held out his handkerchief for her.
Contessa listened to Daylen and knew he was right. She'd get used to all this eventually, she couldn't keep crying about ever little thing that happened, she had to learn to accept this. Even though Sirus did this to her, she couldn't hate him. She understood that it was his way of having fun. "I know." she whispered and offered him a weak smile. So he wasn't upset with her? But did she make him happy? She didn't want to ask but she did want to believe that she made him even a tiny bit happy. It was reassuring to hear though, and the small joke was very much appreciated at this time. "I'm sorry for crying..." she whispered and thanked him for the handkerchief before taking it and wiping away her tears with it.
Daylen smiled sweetly. "No need to apologize for crying. I may not fully understand emotions, however I do understand it's a natural reaction towards being humiliated in such a manner." He soften his face slightly seeing her weak smile. "If it is bothering you that much then you can clean and organize my study. Just be careful with the tonics and alchemy ingredients. Wrong combination and you can blow up the house." Maybe he would do that part just to be safe. He could survive the blast if it happened, granted he knew what to mis and not to to avoid it altogether.
Daylen sounded like a sort of machine when he said what Crying was, made her chuckle slightly. When he mentioned letting her clean his study, her eyes widened. "Did Sirus tell you that?" she asked. "I did want to surprise you with that, but now it's not going to be a surprise." she said softly and nodded. She'd have to be very careful in there, she really didn't want to break or spill anything anywhere. She just wanted to clean up the place and have it organized even though it probably wouldn't last long. "I promise to be very careful, I really don't want to mix anything up or break anything. I just think you'd like a clean study is all." she explained, knowing that he'd probably appreciate it.
Daylen just smiled lightly. "No, you did. You said you wanted to clean my study when you were crying." He told her in his normal soft voice. "I'll help you, though I would like it if I could clean the bottles and organize the alchemy supplies. The engineering is fine but some of it may be very heavy for you." He told her softly warning her about the things over in that area. Sometimes he himself would had trouble moving them. Granted most of it was from not paying attention as he connected the pieces. He just looked at the Alikna sleeping sounding in the crate. He hoped it was warm enough for the little guy.
Contessafelt stupid, already forgetting that she had told him about wanting to clean his study. "You want to help me?" she repeated and couldn't help but grin, her face lighting up even though her eyes gave away that she had been crying. She was pretty sure she looked horrible right now but she didn't care. Daylen just offered to help her clean, which meant they would spend some time together. "I can do that." she assured with a nod of her head and looked over at little no name. "Can I bring him along? Or should we leave him here while we clean?" she asked curiously. Since he was sleeping, it wouldn't be so bad to leave him here for a few minutes right?
Daylen just looked at the little creature in the crate. "It would probably be better to take him with us." He had a place to set the crate where nothing would happen to it. He just gently picked up the create after closing a placing his journal into his vest. He would have to find a place to hide it later, probably better to lock it away where Sirus couldn't get it. If Contessa had a journal, he would have to make her a safe place her's as well. "Miss Contessa, do you have a journal? If so, I have a vault in my bedroom closet. I never use it, I can give the key to you. It doesn't have to be just for a journal." He added the last part quietly. He only really used his vault in the study. He had another on in the study that was more like a hide room. That's where he kept the very important creations, born from both alchemy and sorcery like the Alikna eggs. Perhaps he would bring another on to life so the little guy would have a playmate.
"Yes, I thought it would be best to bring him along as well." Contessa agreed and nodded at what Daylen asked. "I do have a journal. I don't have it with me but I have it in my room." she answered and raised an eyebrow, "Do you think that Sirus can take it?" she asked. Would Sirus really go through her things? With Sirus, anything was possible really. "Are you comfortable giving me the key to that though Daylen?" she asked. The vault was in his bedroom closet, was he okay with having her walk into his room? Of course she would knock but still, she didn't want to invade his personal space and make him uncomfortable.
Daylen just shook his head lightly. "Sirus probably won't touch your journal, it's more of a safety precaution than anything." He told her trying to reassure her. He smiled lightly. "Of course I am, unless you rather have your own room?" He looked at her curiously. "I'm sorry. I just assumed we would be sharing a room once we were married. If you want your own room, I'll make one up for you before we get married." He was lightly blushing, he was always told that married couples shared a room. Rarely did they have their own rooms. Well he would give her the master suite if she wanted her own room, he slept in his old childhood room. It was probably three-forth the master suite's size. She would probably like that room better anyways. "I never changed from my childhood room, I can give you the master suite. It's better than mine. You'll have plenty of room for yourself and this little guy when he is older." He told her shyly.
"No-No! I don't want my own room. Sleeping alone can get frightening sometimes." she said and frowned. She never told him, but she was terrified of thunder and lightning, but she loved rain. "I mean...I don't mind having my own room I guess. I-I just don't want to make you uncomfortable is all. If having me share a room with you won't make you uncomfortable then I don't mind sharing a room with you Daylen." she explained, blushing all the while, realizing what she was saying. She knew that once they were married, they'd be sharing a room and she was okay with that. Sure it would make her nervous but only because she never shared a room with anyone before, much less a man. She had never brought anyone home, she never tried to, and it's not like anyone would probably want to go home with her anyway.
Daylen just listened to Contessa as she spoke. He never found sleeping alone scary, but then again he was use to it. He stayed in a large mansion by himself for years. Servants coming in the morning and going before nightfall. "I never found it scary, however I been alone for a little over seventeen years. I'm use to it." He told her sadly. "I think I'm more frighten of have a roommate after such a long time then sleeping alone." He looked at her and smiled softly. "Don't get me wrong, it doesn't bother me in the slightest that we'll be sharing a room. However I will leave it up to you. If you want to share a room then I can move our room to the master suite, it's larger than the current room I have." He told her softly. It needed to be cleaned before he could room their stuff into the room however. Perhaps Contessa would like to decorate it to her liking. After all she would be sharing the room with him if she wanted. "Would you like to see the master suite? I'll let you decorate it to your liking before the wedding." He asked her softly. It probably be better for them when their married, granted his room was big enough for them both now.
"Well I've slept alone all this time too. I'm used to it...except when it rains, I don't like sleeping alone." she said and looked at the handkerchief in her hands. "I'm afraid of the thunder and lightning." she explained. "So when I hear that, I hide in my closet." she confessed, feeling like a child again. Jeez, I'm so embarrassing...why did I even tell him this? she thought to herself and smiled. "I would love to see it, I'm sure it's lovely. You'll let me decorate it? Are you sure you want a girl to decorate a room we'll both be sleeping in?" she asked with a raised brow. She was going to do her best not to make it look so girly. Perhaps she would just paint an elegant design on the walls? Or maybe painting it one solid color would be best? She'd have to ask him sometime.
Daylen just smiled softly at Contessa. He meant in general not just sleeping alone. However he decided not to tell her that he was on his own for those seventeen years, only to visited once in while by his mother and Sirus. He thought it was cute that she hid during lightning storms. "That is actually cute." He told her softly, he didn't know why but he did find it cute. He motioned for her to follow him so he could lead the way. "Why would I mind sleeping in a room my future wife decorated? I'm very plain, as you can see. Saria actually is the one that decorated my house." Daylen told her shyly. He had a secret too, she had a blast doing it too.
Daylen just lead her down the hall and up the stairs, passed his room to the doors in the middle of the hallway. He opened one of the doors for Contessa to enter the large room. There was a fireplace on the far left wall with built in shelves surrounding it, a large right above it for a picture. Two doors on each side of the shelves. One to the bathroom that was identical to the one Daylen had and a bigger walkin closet. Two glass doors lead to a balcony that overlooked the family maze, the windows went from floor to ceiling. There was no furniture except a large oak bed frame and two matching nightstands in the room. A window on each side of the nightstand. He never used the room, so it was slightly dusty. |
Contessa chuckled at his comment, "You really think so?" she asked. "I think it's embarrassing, that I hide. I feel like such a child." she explained and started following him. Why would you mind? Maybe because I can end up painting it pink and I don't think you like pink rooms. she thought to herself. "Well...I'll try not to make it girly. Perhaps I should go with a simple color and a pattern." she replied easily. She wasn't good at decorating homes but she was going to try her best to decorate this room. "There is nothing wrong with being plain. I'll try to decorate the room as nicely as possible without going too crazy." Contessa explained and followed him closely.
Upon seeing the doors to the room open, Contessa stepped inside and was in awe, it was huge! It made her room look like a walk in closet in comparison. "Oh my goodness, this room is lovely!" she gasped and ran a hand along the walls. The room was a little dusty since it was never used, but she would have no problem cleaning it once she was ready to decorate it. "It will have to match the rest of the house of course." she commented and looked out the large windows. A balcony, she had always wanted one and now she was going to have one, and the view was lovely too. The fireplace was her favorite thing in here though, at least she knew were to go if she was ever cold. |
Daylen just nodded in reply to her earlier question. He pointed to the door closest to the window. "That's the bathroom and the one closest to me is the closet." He told her softly, they both were pretty big. He was sure she would atleast want to look at them before she continued to admire the master suite. He just smiled softly watching her. "It doesn't have to match the house. I'm sure no one would want to enter the room, being a newly married couple's room and all." He said shyly, even if it was an arranged marriage. Daylen was sure no one would really want to enter the newly wed's room for a certain reason.
Contessa peaked inside and grinned, the bathroom was huge too! She was sure everything in this house was huge though, well compared to her house it was. She quickly closed the door and went to check the closet."Oh this is perfect for hiding in!" she pointed out and laughed softly. She was going to enjoy hiding in here. "Well I don't want to make it girly though since a girl isn't the only one who will be sleeping here." she said and blushed at the thought of sharing a room with Daylen. He was right though, no one would dare enter their room, and she knew why. "You're right." she answered and laughed nervously. "Did you have any specific ideas for the decor of this room? Any pointers?" Contessa asked politely. She just wanted to make sure she incorporated his ideas into this room's decor.
