Daylen just looked at Contessa confused. She didn't say anything? He heard her as if she did. He closed his grimoire and shook his head lightly. "Think something else, anything. Please." He asked her softly. He needed to know if he was really her mind. He went to a shelf covered in books and skimmed through til he found the book his desired. He walked back to the table and set the book on it. He flipped through the pages, his eyes skimming the words. He just wanted to know if he really was reading her thoughts or if she just spoke without realizing she had. He stopped on a page, he would read it after he had his answer.
Contessa was surprised at his confusion but nodded. Okay I'll think something else, but I'm not sure what. I should make more cupcakes soon, I enjoyed making them for you. Or maybe I should make you a cake instead? Have you had Carrot Cake? I love it! she thought to herself and wondered why he wanted her to think again. She didn't want to babble on and on in her thoughts though, it was annoying out loud so it was probably annoying mentally too. Contessa watched as Daylen walked to a shelf and pulled out a book and placed it on the table, it was probably a book on mind reading.
Daylen just looked at Contessa. He didn't hear anything. "Judging by the way your facial expression is, your thinking but I don't hear anything." He told her softly. "Perhaps since I'm still in between it will come and go until I fully change." He spoke out loud, more to himself then Contessa. He looked at the page in front of him. "Besides the basic above average strength, healing and speed. It says vampires have three abilities like every other mythical race." He went into thought. "My powers will be replaced with vampiric abilities by to my level. Logically my mental ability will be replaced with another: Telepathy." He told Contessa in thought. He was wondering what his other's would be or if they were simply repressed for the time being. No, if that was the case he wouldn't have heard Contessa's thoughts.
Contessa blinked as she listened to Daylen and raised an eyebrow. "You didn't?" she asked softly and wondered why he didn't read her mind this time, but her question was answered when he spoke out loud. "Perhaps, it makes sense." she agreed with a nod of her hear. Her curls bouncing slightly when she did. She knew the basics of a vampire from books she had read before as a child, but she didn't know mind reading was one of them. A soft gasp escaped her lips when she heard his voice in her head. He wasn't speaking though, but she was hearing him clearly in her head as if he was. "S-so you have telepathy now?" she asked curiously, and wondered what other abilities he would obtain with his new self.
Daylen just looked at Contessa. Did she just hear his thoughts? "It appears so." He told her plainly. "Logically if my mental ability was replaced with another then the others should follow the same. Elemental with elemental, illusionary with illusionary. However there could be a chance that their completely random. It will generate powers to the same level as my sorcery." Whatever he would develop as a vampire will make him just as strong as he was in his former state. "Judging by how I have a new power, by tomorrow I should be dealing with another and the day after that I should be fully transformed." He told her softly. His brain was kicking in over drive. He was glad for that. Made his mind get off his' brother's death and keep him busy. The less he thought about Sirus the better.
"That's really interesting. Sounds like a great ability to have, you'll always know what's being said. Although it probably has its downsides too." Contessa said quietly and listened to his words. In two more days he's transformation would be complete and she would be marrying a vampire instead of a sorcerer. He was still going to be Daylen though, with his expressionless face that confused her so much but she grew to like. "What other power do you think you will acquire tomorrow?" she asked curiously, wondering if had a sort of idea as to what he could receive now as a vampire. Being married to him was going to be interesting and she honestly couldn't wait even though they wouldn't send so much time together, she didn't think they would anyway.
Daylen just kept his blank expression on his face as he read the page more. "Those are just theories based on logic. I do not know what I will receive or if my others are just suppressed at this moment." He told her plainly. Every power had its blessing and curse. He found that out with his pyrokinesis. There were countless of abilities listen here in this book. His eyes lingered on the word he didn't like. His power over fire was listed. Part of him was happy while the other part hoped he wouldn't get that one or anyone other elemental power listed. If he did the elders would harass him again and the potion would have been for nothing. Only prolonging their harassment.
"Master Daylen, Miss Contessa." A voice interrupted his thoughts. He looked up to see a man in a butler's uniform. "Raymon." He simply stated. "I have closed all the curtains leading to your room sir. I lit the hallways lanterns for you and Miss Contessa." He turned to Contessa, like Daylen he wore a plain face. "In the guestroom I have placed a dress on the bed for you to dress in after you bath. Miss Rosa gave me it for you." He told her sweetly. "Shall I lead you there?" He asked her curiously. |
Contessa remained quiet as he spoke and decided to remain quiet until he felt like talking some more, she didn't want to bother him in any way. For his sake, she hoped he got abilities that didn't make him worry too much or make him feel bad about himself. He would probably always feel bad about himself though and she was going to have to learn to accept that. I don't want to accept that, but I don't want to upset or bother him either. Contessa thought to herself and pouted as she burrowed her brow, deep in thought. Her thoughts were interrupted by a male's voice. Looking up, she notices a butler and offered a smile. "Hello there." she said softly and was surprised by his words, she didn't think Rosa would get her a dress to wear. "Ah, well yes please." she said and looked at Daylen. "If you'd like to get some sleep I understand. If not, I'll look for you once I'm done with my bath. Unless you prefer to be alone right now that is." she explained.
Daylen just closed the book. His mind still rested on the list of abilities known to the vampire kind. He did not want the same power over fire again, it would take everything to slammed into the Elder's back. That he couldn't let happen, not after what they said. As he thought more about the Elder's his eyes turned from the pale color they normally were to a bright red. He hated them with more passion after the conversation at the cathedral. His cousin Chris was just as much hated by him. He came from thoughts hearing Contessa. Daylen just looked at Contessa, his eyes still red from the thought of the Elders. "No. You can go get cleaned up, as should I." He told her plainly. Raymon just nodded to Daylen's words. The butler just motioned the way to the door of the study so Contessa could follow him.
Contessa looked at Daylen as she waited for an answer and frowned when she saw his eyes turn a bright red. That obviously meant he was angry, really angry at that. He would probably kill someone right now if he wanted to. She started to panic and quickly looked down at her feet so that her curls could cover her face and hide the look of fear on her face from Daylen. Oh god job Contessa, you talked too much and now he's upset. Way to go! her subconscious scolded her. Without another word, she held the small crate in her arms and followed the butler out of the study and towards the guest room for her bath.
Rubbing his forehead as it started to pound one more, Daylen could hear Contessa's voice once more. He just watched her as she left with the butler. He didn't want her to think that he was mad at her. He inhaled lightly, he was going to try and see if he could use his new ability. "Miss Contessa, please don't think you did something wrong. My thoughts were on the Elder's words when I was upset." He spoke in his mind. His head pounded as he focused on her. He held his head in pain, it throbbed badly forcing him to stop. His nose began to bleed from the pressure. His body was still new to telepathy, it would take awhile. Daylen just held his index's knuckle under his nose as he quickly left to his room.
The butler Raymon just lead Contessa down the hall passed Daylen's room. It was straight down the hall from Daylen's, the two rooms straddling the two staircases in the entrance way leading to the back garden. Raymon just opened the door for Contessa since her hands were full from the crate. "Permission to speak freely, Miss Contessa?" He asked her sweetly, even with a plain face. Raymon was a soft natured person. |
"Oh!" Contessa gasped and shook her head, he had forgotten that Daylen could do this. It was going to take a long while to get used to it. So he was thinking about the Elders? Well he had reason to be mad, she was mad too; how could they blackmail Daylen like that?! Did they really think they could do that and then be allowed to...well watch? No way! She still hated that idea and even though she wanted to do something to prevent it, she knew there was nothing they could do about it. She was going to have to stop thinking to herself, she didn't want to annoy Daylen or give him a headache.
Walking down the hall behind Raymon, Contessa looked down at no name who looked up at her and nuzzled her hand when she pet him gently. "Thank-you." she said to Raymon when he opened the door for her. Speak freely? Oh, sorry! Sorry again! Ugh! "Oh well of course you can speak freely!" she answered honestly and felt silly for overthinking it. She knew what he meant, thinking to herself was just a habit she guessed. |
Raymon just nodded to her thanks gently. "I believe you care enough about my master and that you will worry too much if you leave the manor tonight. Shall I send a message your parents that you will be staying the night in the guestroom?" He asked her in his sweet tone. He didn't want Daylen to be alone and even though he would be in the servants quarters he wanted someone closer. "As for Master Daylen's new race, try not to show him fear as you did in the study. It will it harder on him and yourself." He told her softly. He wasn't getting on to her just trying to help her in the long run.
Daylen just hid in his room. He was waiting for the bleeding to stop. Once it did, he was able to look around his room. Raymon had prepared it for him. He opened the bathroom door, hiding to the side so the sunlight couldn't hit him. However no lit came from the room. He peeked in to see that Raymon had hung up heavy drapes to block the sunlight and lit candles so he could see. He sighed softly before going in to clean up. He wanted to get the blood off, perhaps afterwards he would take a tonic to sleep. That would be the only way he could get any sleep for a while. |
Did everyone here read minds?! No, he was just a very smart person, or she was just that easy to read. He was correct, she would be a worrying mess back in her room. She wouldn't be able to sleep from constantly worrying about Daylen. Still, she didn't think she would get any sleep tonight, but she would have to try since she didn't think she'd be able to go out for a walk. "P-please do. I'm sure they will understand. Please let them know that I'll be home as soon as I can though, so that they shouldn't worry." Contessa answered softly and nodded. He was right, showing Daylen that she was scared of him wasn't going to help him in any way. "I understand. I didn't mean to show fear...I guess it was an instinctive reaction of sorts." she replied and offered an apologetic smile.
Raymon just nodded lightly to her. "Please call me if you need anything. On the desk near the phone is a chart with the numbers on it. If I'm not in the kitchen, you can reach me in the servant's quarter." He told her before lightly bowing and walking away. He would be starting dinner for Contessa and Daylen since he wasn't fully turned. He still needed to eat until then, he wouldn't make much seeing how no one would most likely have an appetite.
Daylen gotten dressed after scrubbing the blood off. He just wore a white linen shirt, he left the string at the neckline untied. He rolled his sleeves up to his elbows and the bottom untucked. His loose fitting black had no accesories added to them like normal. He wore his black boots even though he was still inside of his room. His skin felt like it was on fire even as the water dripped from his hair and landed on his forearms. Daylen was just sitting on his bed, his bare elbows resting on his knees. The events of the day flashing through his mind. He knew why Sirus never let him use the potion, it hurt more knowing. Daylen was being greedy, he wanted to hold into his brother even at a great cost to his twin. He buried his face into his hands as thought more about his greed. |
"Understood, Thank-you." Contessa said softly and watched him leave and placed the crate down on the bed before picking up the new dress. It was a really pretty dress red in color and a bit longer than the dresses she had at home. Still, it looked very comfortable, she'd make sure to wash it before she left home or wash it at home and bring it back. "No name, stay here okay? I promise it won't be long." she whispered and left into the bathroom where she started a warm shower and undressed herself, frowning when she saw the blood. Without a second thought, Contessa hopped into the shower, scrubbing off the dried blood from her hands. She was going to have to get her metal arm looked at when she got home.
Sighing softly, she started singing in hopes of cheering herself up. She had a lovely singing voice yes, but it was obvious to anyone who heard the cracks in her voice that she was trying not to cry. "Naoidhean b-bhig, ar righinn og M-mhaighdean uashaill b-bhan..." she eventually had to stop and take deep breaths to calm herself down since singing wasn't helping at all. When she had finished her shower, she shut off the water and wrapped a towel around herself before drying off and getting dressed. Looking at herself in the mirror, she hoped it wasn't too obvious that she had cried a bit since she didn't want to worry anyone right now. Grabbing the dirty clothes, she walked out to her temporary room and slipped on her old socks and her boots, making sure to lace them up tightly. Her hair was still damp but she wasn't going to style it right now, she was getting ready for what little sleep she could get. She looked pretty and silly actually, and that made her laugh softly. "Did you miss me no name?" she asked her little pet and chuckled. "I look silly don't I? Yes, these boots aren't made for dresses I don't think." she muttered and sat on the edge of the bed. |
Thanks to the tonic, his emotions were still under control. He was incredibly depressed but he wasn't showing it in facial expressions or tears anymore. He needed to get his mind off of the events. He needed to stay busy so he wouldn't think about his twin. Daylen just stood up and left his room. He quickly made his way to his study where he took out his father's old tools. He took his grimoire from the vault and placed it on his desk, flipping through the fading pages his search began. He pause on a page, this was what he needed. Gathering all the ingredients he began his new task before the changes were fully set and his sorcery would be lost forever.
"Let's go check on my plants shall we?" Contessa suggested and tossed the dirty laundry in a basket before grabbing the small crate and walking out of the guest room and out to her Solarium. "I haven't watered these all day." she said to herself and wrapped an arm around the crate, holding it close to her body while she picked up the watering can with the other hand and began to water her plants. "This watering can was conjured by Sirus.." she whispered to herself and frowned. He was really going to be missed, even his pranks were going to be missed. "I'm sure he's still here with us though. Good people like that never just leave." she said to herself. When she was done watering the plants, Contessa set down the watering can and sighed softly. It was starting to get dark, so at least Daylen would start to feel more comfortable. "I cannot wait to see how you grow no name, I'll be sure to play around with you...and maybe if I have children you'll let them ride on your back." Contessa said quietly with a smile on her face.
Daylen just held out his palm, letting it hover over the cauldron. The potion required a half breeds blood and being not a fill vampire or sorcerer, he could be counted as one for now; right? After all, he did have both blood inside of him currently. He slit his hand open with his knife letting the droplets of blood fall onto the cauldron. A large flash filled the room, blinding him temporarily until it faded. He had left the door to his study open, so the flashed filled part of the hallway as well. Daylen just closed his hand over the rapidly healing wound. The potion was changing to the correct color. He was surprised that it worked. Daylen just opened his drawer to the desk and took out a ladle. Pouring the liquid into a glass, he just held up the glass and weakly smiled. "Never will the Elder's have a di Pavia as an apprentice, I promise you that Sirus." His his words softly whispered, Daylen just drank the liquid. Like every other potion it tasted horrible. Daylen just sat down the glass on the desk and looked at the remainder in the cauldron. He didn't know what to do with all of it.
"It would be nice I think. Sirus said it would happen...that I would have children. Oh you should have seen the smile on Daylen's face no name....it was a genuine smile. Not forced." Contessa commented softly, smiling sadly at the memory. "I am to have two children. I already have a name for the boy, but what about the girl? Or perhaps it will be two boys? Or maybe two girls?" Contessa said to herself as she thought about the possibilities. No name had looked up when he saw the flash and Contessa followed his gaze. "What was that?" she asked him and raised an eyebrow as she hesitantly walked towards Daylen's study which was where the flash had come from. Peaking inside his study, she saw nothing out of the ordinary. "Is everything okay?" she asked softly and remained in the hallway, petting little no name gently.
The ink on the pages faded completely out, that was the last time he would ever be able to use his grimoire. He ran his fingertips over the ancient paper before closing the grimoire. The crystals are completely black now. He smiled weakly at the sight. It would be awhile before he got use to having no magic. He looked at the door to see Contessa after hearing her voice. "Everything is fine, Miss Contessa. Just putting the last bit of magic I had to stop myself from keeping pyrokinesis or gaining any other elemental ability." He told her softly. His teeth was feeling off as he spoke. He just ran his tongue over his slightly longer upper canines. It felt odd, perhaps because they were growing slowly. Daylen just went to the cabinet he kept locked. Taking out the key, he opened it to retrieve two small bottles full of black liquid. He would have to keep one on hand at all times. Locking the cabinet up and placing the key back around his neck. Daylen handed Contessa one of the bottles. "You should keep this on you at all times, just in case. Its a tonic to sate vampire's craving." He told her softly. Thinking about it he took off the necklace and place it on her. "Better safe then sorry." He had another key hidden in his room and with her now knowing what the tonic looked like she could easily retrieve it if needed.
To stop himself from getting any elemental powers? Was he still very worried about hurting anyone? "Will the tonic work?" she asked quietly. Contessa didn't fully understand why he would do that, but she respected his choices whatever they might be. Watching him, she noticed that his teeth were changing. His canines were getting longer, which was normal for any vampire and she wondered if it hurt. "D-does it hurt?" she asked curiously. "The transformation that is." she clarified and watched as he went to a locked vault, opened it and pulled out two bottles full of black liquid. Did he actually have to drink that? It didn't look appetizing at all. When he had handed her a bottle, she nodded in understanding at his words. So if he ever started craving blood she was supposed to give him this? Sounded simple enough. "Understood." she whispered and was surprised when he placed the necklace around her neck instead. She was taking this new responsibility seriously. If he ever needed a tonic, she'd run to get it for him.
Daylen just slightly nodded his head. "It should work." He told her softly. Daylen barely touched his lips with his left hand, hiding his mouth from view. Was his teeth that noticeable? "No, just feels odd. My teeth ache softly, feels more like a slight pressure then anything. My skin feels like it's burning with a fever but its cold to the touch." He tried to explain it the best he could. It didn't hurt, it felt odd to him. Daylen just looked at his fully healed hand before letting it rest back at his side. "I always thought turning into a vampire was a painful process. When you die your cells just stop, like they freeze in time. That is how they gain eternal youth and why diseases can't infect affect them. They can't infect what's already dead." He was just analyzing the transformation, trying to figure it out like everything else he came across. "The sun does hurt. The pain is indescribable." He said softly looking at her. He honestly couldn't think of how to describe the pain of the burning sensation he got from the short moments in the sun.
Contessa just shook her head and walked over to him. "Come now, stop. You don't need to hide anything from me okay?" she said softly and gently moved his hand away from his mouth. "I'm glad to hear that it doesn't hurt, I always thought that it would hurt too. From the books I read as a child, I always imagined them screaming in pain from the transformation." she explained and let go of his hand, knowing he didn't want her touching him right now. She nodded softly as he spoke, she couldn't even begin to imagine the pain he felt being out in the sun. "It's okay, we won't be out in the sun, we can take walks in the nighttime if you'd like." she suggested with a smile. At least he wouldn't be catching diseases now, but he probably preferred that really.
Daylen just looked at her when she moved his hand away from his mouth. He felt uncomfortable because of his upper canines. He didn't want her to be afraid of him because of his teeth like she was when his eyes turned red. He just looked at the marble flooring as she spoke. Every book he read about the vampiric transformation sounded extremely painful or they instantly changed. He only knew that it took a few days to complete the change. That was only because he questioned Claire and Saria, however it was a long time since they were turned to remember if it hurt or not. Daylen weakly smiled at Contessa, he liked the thoughts of night walks with her but he didn't want her to stay up for him. She would need her sleep. "Well at least coffins are optional." He tried to lighten the mood, he wasn't as good as Sirus but he tried. He missed his twin greatly, he wished he took the potion but he knew why he refused it.
